Wake the Dead (OOC Thread)

OOC thread for Wake the Dead; since the OOC bantering was interrupting with story-flow and generally, I'd like it kept seperate; hence; thread.

Good call, dude. I for one want to get back to the IC stuff in that thread.

I think we all do; so long as we have an understanding. An apology would be nice, too.

You're way too easy on them Marcus. I'd have them modded for SOMETHIN. And you know I'd come up with something too...

True enough, but then thats you. Check TGs

Now that we are all getting along as best we can under the circumstances, can we keep any OOC bickering (if any even comes up again) here instead of clogging the RP thread with it?

@The Wraith Hivefleet: As long as you apologize for the name calling.
@SeaQuest: Agreed.

There were no names called; merely observances of character. For them, I apologise, though first impressions. I'm sure you understand.

Ahh, too true. But, we all must realize not to judge a book by its cover and that first appearances can be quite deceptive.

I also apologize for my rudeness.

Now, who is going to be the first to spot my Scout (most likely through visual means (ie, eyes and not sensors (it would just appear as a blank spot on active sensors and not at all on passive sensors)))?

I'm still on the planet; so probably not me

And my ship is two hours away, so I might not be the first. Though, if nobody else has by the time I get their, I'll do it.

OOC:
1.) Please use the OOC thread for pure OOC posts, TGB.
2.) While it looks like a Goa'uld ship and uses some Goa'uld tech (it was really a test to see if combining tech from myself and some regional allies would work), the Anubis is much larger than anything the Goa'uld fielded.
3.) The Anubis uses my Alteran designed Trans-Spatial shields and not some wimpy Goa'uld shields.

IC: I.S.S. Anubis - Main Bridge - E.T.A. of 1 hour

"Can't believe we had to have a skeleton crew for this."

"Agreed, sir. All that extra space is filled with cargo."

"We can only hope that's it all worth it when the structure is complete."

"Aye, it would then take nothing sort of a something with Q-like powers to get past Altera's defenses when its done."

"Plus all that stuff they are putting in-system as well."

"Do you really think the home system will need all that fortification?"

"Unkown, but from what we know of some of the nations that call this Milky Way Galaxy home, it is a good idea to fortify the Alteran star system."

So; your the same person? I mean really; accusing me of flaming you through your puppet?

OOC: As I can't apprently access the thread tools dropdown *GLARES AT JOLT* this is a tag, which is actually necessery. Anyway... SeaQuest: There's no reason to think that Anubis' canonical citadel ship in Stargate SG1 wasn't at least 10,000 meters across. And for the record: That ship's shields were 'alteran designed' too, it didn't stop drones because in general, weapons are always more powerful than defences.

1.) There were plenty of cannon screen shots that showed Anubis's ship next to standard Ha'Taks (measured at 1 kilometer diameter). I judged from their it could be no larger that 5 kilometers diameter in cannon.

2.) Correction, they were Ancient enhanced shields, but still Goa'uld in origin.

3.) No, in this case, my defense are actually stronger than my offenses.

No there aren't. There are in fact, shots that show ha'taks cruising closer to the camera than the citadel ship indicating a diameter of seven to eight ha'tak diameters for its circular section alone. Of course, its apparent size varies from episode to episode (though of course, it is possible that the second ship was bigger) Further, I wonder where you got that scaling - the only scaling I've ever seen of ha'taks gave 650 meters.
2.) Correction, they were Ancient enhanced shields, but still Goa'uld in origin.
Not really. There's no indication that Anubis' ships, which he had been building for many years, had ever boasted a non-ancient shield design. Note that the generator rooms in Anubis ship (according to Heimdall's sensors) were vastly smaller than those aboard Apophis' attack ship in Serpent's Lair.
3.) No, in this case, my defense are actually stronger than my offenses.
Fiction. In reality, weapons always outstrip defences to some degree. There's no reason to assume that canonical Alteran shields would be able to resist Alteran drone weapons.

1.) I'm not using the cannon ship design (well, only the physical shape is Cannon (as well as some of the weapons) but that's it).

2.) Dimensions of a Ha'tak:
Flight I:
665 Meters Diameter.
Flight II:
1,000 Meters Diameter.

3.) The 1 kilometer diameter for Flight II comes from that old NS ship chart (can't find the thread for some reason).

4.) "There are two distinctive subtypes of these Motherships (which I designate 'Flight I and Flight II). Visually they are very similar in appearance and size but there are subtle differences. The most specific external difference is the edge of the superstructure 'arms'. On the older model of Mothership, the arms are somewhat rounded off leading to 'thicker' edges. The Flight II that appeared around season four has somewhat more tapered edges, with the superstructure continuing straight to a shear edge."

(The above is a quote from a website that has enough information based on cannon observations to be considered a good resource (it provides the Flight I dimensions)).

A message is not doing something. When you enter a system, you must take some action to draw attention to yourself.

That's a common practice. Make demands, shoot something. Take some ACTION, don't just sit on your ass scanning everything.

I'm not the shoot first type, though, if I have to, I do have a newly researched toy I'm been wanting to field test.

Note, while I may not RP at the Stargate Ancient tech level right now, its because I am actually doing the research to get to the point.

Yes thank you, I write for that website (Don't believe me? Take a look at the staff page). I also had the ha'tak put on Doc_Evilonavich's ship chart - you will note that it had 'Lord Atum' next to it. I corrected him on the size (when that chart was made, it was assumed that both goa'uld mothership types were the same diameter), but he did not update it. The kilometer size is not correct, and never has been.

On a related note, I'd like to give you some tips on playing Alterans, for the 'Big Mistake' thread. Firstly, the Alterans are meant to be goody-two-shoes. They wouldn't torture anyone, not even a wraith, for one of two reasons.

1 - They think they're the good guys. Much like the SGC, they're not going to physically torture anyone, even when they think it's practical.
2 - Physical torture is totally unnecessery to them. They'd just do as Anubis did, and suck the knowledge out of the subject's head.
The Gate Builders
12-02-2006, 22:47
I've explained this to Chronosia. My Alterans are losing sight of what they used to be, and are getting more and more desperate to get more knowledge with which to fight their enemies.
