Wake the Dead (FT Intro)

The Wraith Hivefleet
10-02-2006, 05:32
It slumbered, desolate and forgotten upon a world too ancient to have a name; in a place that had, perhaps, been all but legend. Yet still exists. There, half buried in a mountainside; half dwarfed by the mud and toil and rock and wrath of ages; it remains; endures. A native people worship it as a temple of the Gods; the Gods that walk amongst them, and taste of them. This is the way of life here....The way of the waking of every few generations; of pain, and fear and feeding..

They are the Wraith.

Even now; they prepare, as their brethern already have, to stir; to wake. The Keeper makes the arrangements; and nothing can truly go wrong...Or can it? At such a sensitive time; with the awakening, and the feeding so close...What could interfere? What could intervene? They have lain alone for centuries. And as the red-haired Keeper stretches; arching her body, glancing around her chamber, awaiting the correct time...She smiles.

It will be glorious.

In orbit, the New Gazan science vessel Sun Chaser had just finished preliminary scans. The sensors officer was making his report to the captain.

"A primitive nateive population, nothing too really worry about. No firearms. Just spears and arrows. Lots of natural resources...Although we did pick up an anomaly here..." He indicates a mountain. "Lots of organic readins. Might be a mistake."

The captain nods. "Probably...We'll maintain orbit and send a message back to HQ. They'll get a expedition up and running in a few weeks. In the meantime, we stay here and stake our claim."

"Aye, sir."

"Sir we have a Wraith Hiveship on scanners, it is not i reapet not under Nebarri control."

"prepare for combat, we know what happens when they start culling."

with that the I.N.S. Thor's Fist an O'Neill class warship decloaked, raised shields, and charged weapons.

"call for reinforcments." was the very next order...

The ship shudders beneath the earth; the ground itself shaking and quaking as the vessel stirs after so long. It will not move yet; but the portents are nigh. The awakening is beginning; the Wraith stir within their cells; moving and writhing, clawing at the clammy air of a world that has forgotten them; of a galaxy that has forgotten them.

Oh how making them remember will be fun; how rousing them shall be so pleasurable. How savoring the taste of the human masses shall once again be their goal; how they shall roam and feed and slumber...And migrate to newer..Greener pastures.

Klaxons blared as the ship de-cloaked a mere few thousand kilometers away. The ship burst into activity.

"General quarters! Sound general quarters! All hands, battle-stations! Helm, bring us around."

The slender, arrow-head shaped craft swung around, the massive engines giving it tremendous speed. It's primary weapons, batteries of rail guns and and particle cannosn ebgan chargin. The shields came online as missile tubes slid open.

Attention unidentified craft, you are in violation of New Gazan space. Identify yourselfs at once or we will fire on you.

In the mean time a burst transmission-a distress signal-was being sent to the outpost several light-years away. There, a New Gazan carrier group had just put in on a routine patrol of the border regions. Within five minutes they ahd received the transmission and transwarp engines began powering up.

OOC: put it this way, Rail guns can hurt a warship after a few minutes, that same class of warship is disabled in a few shots from the Thor's Fists Pulse Cannons (though they do have only 8 cannons(none for anti-fighter work) and fire at a semi-slow rate.

EDIT: the Thor's Fist is one of my most powerfull ships. built soly to fight other capital ships. my other ships are normaly slightly less powerful then a Star Destroyer

The New Gazan ship makes an excellent example of how to evae incoming fire. Although it's return firepower is somewhat diminished, it manages to avoid taking any serious damage from the incoming pulse cannon fire.

From what I have seen in the episodes, the Stargate style Hyperspace Window is actually considered a tunnel through Subspace similar to the Transwarp used by the Borg in Star Trek.

The first of them moved from the ruined ship; towering over the mortal herd who fell to their knees in worship; Warriors moved like shadows about them; weapons readied; before opening fire. Many fell, twisting and wracked with spasms as the Stunners did their work; before the leader picked up one of the eldest of the worshippers; his hand brushign across his chest, before he began to feed; growling lowly.

Take them...Take them all

The ground burst open as Darts took to the air, ripping into the skies and spiralling upwards; high, before plunging down towards neighbouring villages; culling beams initiating; taking a few villages; here and there...Not enough to deplete the breeding stock; but enough for the re-awakening.

The ground shook, cracking; rocks tumbling, dirt flying into the air as the ship began to rise. The day of judgement had come; the Wraith had re-awakened...And a ravenous hunger was upon them once more

OOC: Protoss carriers mount weapons capable of slagging planets, remember the CG movies in the game? Big beams of azure light scorching the Sara colonies AND Tarsonis. Plus, remember, Aeon of Strife, and entire AEON. In that time they had space combat capability the entire time. PDCs are better than most any other weapon out there, except Yamatos, in that Yamatos are more concentrated. 180 ships in a Carrier Group are more powerful than one ship alone, no matter how big it is, or what weapons it mounts, it simply can't respond effectively to all of the threats at once.

On the very fringe of the system, a lone ships slipped from it’s position behind the moon of the farthest planet. The Star Arch was a new class of cruiser, it was slightly smaller than its older cousins, but with much upgraded weapons, shield and sensors, she would be able to hold her on if she got in a fight. However that’s wasn’t their current mission at the moment. Their current mission was simpler, just to explore unknown reaches of space to map the galaxy.

“Sir it’s getting pretty crowded in there, are you sure you want to keep us here?” The petty officer at the sensor away was from one of the inner fleets. He had not served on a explorer mission before, where you could be a lone ship for weeks at a time.

“Yes I am, Jamison, we will stay right here and see what happens. If it get to hot, we’ll pull back farther.” Captain Greg McGovern had served with the WM SDF for over 25 years and was not one to shy away from a fight even if he wasn’t involved in it. “See if you can get a look at the near planet to those ships, I want to know what has brought them all to one area.”

“Yes sir” At that moment Jamison was wishing he hadn’t asked for that transfer.

The ship remained on the planet as the Dart's returned; unloading their human cargo. The great vessel lumbering up from the ground; hovering above the earth; not yet ready to leave the atmosphere. The Keeper brooded, gazing out as they rose; higher now; the earth but an indistinct mass below them; nothing but the scattered remenants of a former tomb. They had all they required now...

Ah, old foes already stirring around our freshly violated graves...You have come far to hunt us, old ones...Hunted us to our new...Feeding ground." A cold cackle. "But you must be aware that we are not the only ones...Something has changed; we have lain dormant too long...Things stir us now. Hunger drives us. Allow us to feed and we shall leave you in peace; were you in our place, you would act as we did...Is it not the right of the predator to chose it's prey at will? Is it not the law of nature that lessers be consumed by greaters; that some be sacrificed to feed the many?

Black as the space it called home, a single Ha Dum Scout (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10400437&postcount=6), more than capable of taking on a Galaxy class vessel, powered up and lifted off from its hiding place in one of the craters on the planet's moon.

The Scout darted towards the gathering of ships. Even the most advanced sensors there would have a hard time detecting the Scout due to the unique properties of the Photonum hull and its tendency to absorb sensor energy.

Orbit of World

The Shroud Class light Cruiser killed its FTL Drives, the craft stopping within moments. The craft hung there, its form invisable to all in the area. As it hung in space, it looked down at the planet below, watching as the Predator did strike.

"They don't seem to be willing to rise" Aziel said, looking down at those below him. "Its almost as if...they are scared."

"Wouldn't You be?" the ship said, as it projected itself a hologram standing beside the human warrior. "They compleatly entrapped, their surrounded, and any escape would be limited."

"What should we do?" the human asked, looking down. "Such a power loose in the universe could distract the plans of enemies in the future?"

"Correct" the Ship replyed, almost in a congradulating way. "Our Mistress Sent us here to let them out, lets do so."

The Ship did not disengage its stelth network, so even now, sensors might pick up a blur for a second, if they where lucky, but their chance of detecting the ship where minimal, for indeed, the Shroud had been perfected more then 60 Million years ago, and its main defence was its inability to target it.

The craft came in, speeding up exeedingly fast, before letting loose with a full Salvo of Lighting Arc Energy onto the Gate Builders Craft. Energy crackled along the hull of the massive craft, Energy that would search along the sheilds of the ship, finding a weak spot and then exploiting it.

And from the hull, the form of a Monolith fired into the Atmosphere was seen, moving with great speeds at it penertrated the atmosphere and heading towards the Hiveship, it sent a message that it would speak with the Ruler.

The thing was approaching; an insidious shadow from the icy void of the abyss; a terrible portent from the skies. The Wraith had never heard ancient stories tell of the Necron'tyr; they themselves and the Alterans were the oldest races they knew; but these strangers from the sky...

The Keeper perked up, sliding her hand along the long black table, grasping at some fruit; raising it to her lips; sinking serrated teeth into it's surface. Of course, it did nothing to avail her hunger; but it was an interesting practicality; an amusing cherade; a decadant and delightful indulgence. A sticky red trail of juice ran down from her lips, her tongue snaking over it, as she waited. The Guards moved and formed a perimeter; they readied themselves; but she had little fear; little save a curiosity. Let them come; she was certain they could find their way there; and then they would talk.

And at least one thing would be sated; her curiosity towards this new galaxy; these new denizens...The possibility of fertile feeding grounds; rich, new worlds...

I'd appreciate it if you left my thread; and delete all your posts for convenience's sake. OOC: I made a simple request; that, if you were not RPing, that you remain out of the thread. Simple enough, direct enough; most assuredly not asking much, nor expecting much trouble. Instead, I'm accused of flaming. In my opinion you seem to have taken offence at being restricted in when and where you may post.

For that I must, quite reservedly apologise. It was never my intent to make you feel insecure.

If Ha Dum is being mild; then I would really hate to see him miffed; if you don't want to delete your posts, thats very well, I simply wanted to save space and reduce needless clutter.

For your information I am not another of Ankhmet's puppets; I consider myself more arrogant than Ankhmet in that I offer at least some flexibility. Let there be two Atlantis, valid or not.

Now, I'd appreciate if you could remain seperate from the remainder of my RP; I would have hoped that you could have been civil, maybe even a part of this as you do have Alteran's and everything. But evidently, I was mistaken. My condolences.

"Captain, we are picking up massive amounts of comms traffic and weapons fire in a near-by star system."

"How long will it take us to get there?"

"Two hours if we Phase into Hyperspace."

"Then make it so, Lieutenant."

"Aye, sir."

Exterior

The massive, star-shaped form of the only Anubis class (http://www.stargate-tech.net/pagepics/anub.jpg) supercapital command ship Phased into Hyperspace. The only reason the SeaQuestian Empire had even brought this giant ship out at this point in time was she was the only ship with Cargo Bays large enough to transport some of the larger materials need to construct the prototype planetary scale Dyson Frame that was being built around the homeworld of Altera.

((IC)) The Monolith began to approch the craft, its massive form black with lines traced across it glowing an errie green. As the massive craft entered the dock. It moved in slowly, before settling down on the ground. In that moment, a Portal opened on the main hatch. The surface of the portal was not unlike the that of a Stargate, except that it was a sickly light green colour, and had a more sinister look to it.

From the Portal, the Lord steped. He stood tall, upright, and his silver body gleamed in the light. He stood like the Mechanical Skeliton he was, drapped in a black robe with Green Symbols woven...or perhapse placed, all across its length. In his right hand he held a Staff of Light, which glowed at its base with a green colour. And as he stepped from the Portal, two Pariahs, the tall Warriors holding their Warscythes aloft, followed.

"I am here to speak with the one who commands you." he said bluntly. "Direct us to him"

The warriors silently led the metallic monstrosities through the levels of the Hive-ship; cage-like doors sliding open as they approached, only to reform themselves as soon as they had passed. The great chamber of the Keeper came before them, even as she held a human down upon the table, feeding; hissing softly, a mewl of pleasure....She was contented; watching these....Things enter.

She wrinkled her nose lightly; her psychic senses screaming danger, screaming; and then silent. She saw one of the humans bubbling and whimpering and holding his head...The Pariah's seemed the source.

"Who are you?" She hissed; rising from her table; watching them. "Why do you come before us?"

The Lord looked curiously at the way the creature fed. It was interesting...such a similar process to the Way the Mistress did so, although when he considered, the Mistress was much better, there was none of the aging side effects, and there was not the pain that was usually associated with them.

"I am Armanra, a Lord of the Necrontyr." he said, "My Mistress wishes that you make it off this world safely to make your feeding grounds." he looked at her. "I was ordered to seek permission be able to keep our Monolith somewhere within your craft, so that should we require to contact eachother, it would be possible."

The warrior looked at the dieing human, before speaking again. "I know our mistress feeds in similar ways to you, so it would also be possible to give you new feeding grounds when they become avalible."

The idle chatter of the bridge-crew was abruptly halted by the dimming of the lights and one of the shielding consoles blowing up.

"Contact! One more agressor, moving down the side, firing some kind of directed energy weapon. Very little damage besides the initial shock."

The captain turned to the main view screen, which was displaying a new contact, flickering slightly with each barrage of lightning.

"Fire 4 beams at them. Aim for the engines and weapons."

Four Alteran beam weapons turned on the ship probing their shields, the beams lancing towards their target with super-bright intensity.

The ship suffered a hit, on its rear end, and another grazed against its sheilds, but it held. The ships moniters registered immidietly that its stealth was not as effective, and curing 60 million years of no matinence, fired its FTL Engines for the Briefest of Times, as it did, it was on the otherside of the Ancient craft, before the Lighting Arcs Crackled out again, letting loose a continues storm of fire-power. Its beams focused, the firepower cocentrated into one Arc. The Beam was let loose onto the ship. To the Alterans, it would look as if they where doing a suicide attack, but all that was needed was to keep the craft occupied.

Many races claim to be created by one of the First Ones. Few, if any, have any proof to back their claims. I ask only this, where is yours?

None. They seem preoccupied with the SeaQuestian ship. Should we remove it as a preoccupation?

Negative. Only fire if the SeaQuestian vessel fires directly at us first.

Proof that is identified as authentic is all that is needed. While some people tell the truth with their words, it is my experience that such people are extremely rare in this universe, thus the desire for tagiable proof. Sorry if it offends you, but its the way I operate.

The Star Arch didn't move from its current location. Not did it respond to any o its communications. The ships shields were raised and weapons charged. Though they had selected no targets as of yet. McGovern new his light cruiser would not stand a chance against all of those vessels. His ship may be large at over 378 meter but compared tot hat 10 Km giant, his ships was an ant. His new orders were clear, to scan and hold his position till enough info on the battling ships was gathered, then he would make a move.

New contact. Massive enough for a fleet.

Calm yourself. More details are required.

New contact is apparently not a combat design, but could easily out match by sheer mass.

What's the size compared to a Habitat?

It was left on Aiur when the Wanderers left us. When we were outcast by the Conclave we were sent away in the Worldship. It contains all of the information the Xel'Naga posessed on Gwenetic Modification. It will remain at the edge of the system, and leave at the first sign of combat.

While that may be long-term for most races, it sounds as if you use the direct approach by directly manipulating a species. The Shadows of Ha Dum prefer to use selective breeding, which can last into the billions of years before the penultimate of a successful line is born.
