It was a cold, wet day. The sun was hidden behind thick rain clouds, and the city of Norristown was drenched in cold, slick rain. As per usual, zombies walked through out the city aimlessly.
As the Mercenary group approached the city, a call came in over all their radio systems.
"All right, this is going to be an in and out operation. We get what we need, and nothing more. Got it? Good."
Xander hated the rain, he attempted to get rid of the water soaked into his Beard and then took off his glasses to stop the water from blinding him, after a while he returned the glasses to the bridge of his nose.
"Right, who wants to go in first?"

Ray barely heard the orders over the CD he was listening to. He turned it down a little. "I'll go in the frontline, but I'll need backup." He didn't wait for a response. He turned the CD up to catch the begining of "Brain Damage".

Mike put on his black ski mask and stopped his car. Stepping out he looked around. Picking up his radio he called in.
"Well I'm going to get some food at the grocery store"
Getting back into the car he pulled up to the front door and blocked it. Mike pulled out his M14 holstered it. He would first clear the place of zombies.

"Astar, follow me. I'm going in. See if we can find anything useful."
"Two, then?" Carter said. "Good. Toops, you said you know drugs. Our first priority is antibiotics. Painkillers are very low on our list--I don't give a damn what you can get for them on the street. First-aid supplies and surgical instruments are good. And for God's sake, stay out of the basement." He checked the cylinder of his .38. It was fully loaded. "When everything happened, the hospital is the first place anyone went with an injury--and by an injury, I mean a bite. It's going to be hairy."
Oh great Xander quetly thought to himself, straight into the lions den he wasn't a great fighter but his skills were going to little other cause than surviving, he pulled some Glock magazines out from the glove compartment and threw them into his satchel pack, his Uno slowly jumped into action and began to pull up next to his team-mates.

"don't i know about bites" Alyssa mutters "I was orphaned when the dead walked"
She loads her rifle and says "I'm ready for whats in there"
Consulting the map she says "the hospitals a block away. We should be able to get in and out quickly if theres not too many of the zombies around"
Carter led his group into the hospital's parking deck, which connected to the hospital itself on the first three levels. As he got off his bike and the others left their vehicles, he said, "Wouldn't have been a good idea to go in through the emergency room or the first-floor lobby. Judging from past experience...those are bad places." He led them to a door which entered straight into the hospital's second floor. It was ajar. Carter drew a slender black Mag-Lite and thumbed it on. Its powerful beam cut through the darkness like a knife. "You brought flashlights, I trust? If not, we'll need to make torches."

Xander walked off to the back of the aged Italian car and popped the boot open, he fumbled around before taking out a large torch.
"this'll do me."

Ray watched the other group leave and started to search for anything. Food. Ammo. Weapons. Survivors. Anything. He walked slowly. Suddenly a group of zombies appeared in the mist. "Astar, get ready. There here." Ray aimed for ones head with his .357, and waited until it was just the right distance before he blew off it's head.
Carter pushed into the hospital's second floor. With no power, and no external sources of light, the darkness was almost a physical entity. Carter and Toops lanced through it with their lights.
"The first floor is typically admin and emergency," Carter said. "We'll start on this floor and work our way up. Stick together if you want to keep breathing." They passed a dozen hospital rooms, most with their doors wide open. At each door, Carter held up a hand for the others to stop. He checked the entrance with his light, leaned in carefully, and pulled the door shut. It was safer than inspecting the entire room.
After a few minutes, they reached a storage room next to a nurse station. "This is what we'll be looking for, for the most part." He pushed the metal door, which slid open easily. His flashlight revealed that the lock had been battered apart. The storage room had been picked practically bare--all that remained were a few rolls of gauze and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Shrugging, Carter took the gauze and put it in his backpack. "Maybe we'll have better luck--"
He stopped, instantly alert. From down the hall, shuffling footsteps.

Jonathan made his way into the grocery store. It still had power some how. He saw something move. Looking threw his ski mask he saw the zombie. Leveling his M14 he shoot the zombie a couple of times. Getting some food packed into Discovery. He got mostly fresh fruits and vegtables. Then getting water and some power bars. Packing it inside to the limit. He looked around the grocery store. Pulling out his walter he found a survior. It was a woman. Pointing his gun at her he asked.
"are you okay?"
A gaunt, gray face was illuminated by Carter's flashlight. The sad figure was a male, but they had no way of guessing his age. It wore a simple hospital gown, and an IV tube was jammed in its mealy arm. An empty IV bag dragged along the tile behind the creature.
It had already spotted them. It shambled closer, its milky eyes reflecting Carter's light. Its jaws worked open, spilling tacky drool, and a moan rasped from its withered throat...
"oh god!"
Xander pumped shots into the air hoping for a head shot, he began to scream as his shots got closer, hitting the arms and legs but only slowing the creature down.

"hey guys i think i found a survior. what should i do?" Jonathan said on his radio as he got closer to the woman.
One of Xander's shots hit the pathetic creature in the kneecap. It hit the tile face-first with a meaty thump.
"Stop," Carter said. He drew his crowbar from a loop on his belt. He brought its pointed end down hard on the zombie's skull. There was a crackle as the point went through old bone, and the dead man ceased struggling.
Carter turned to Xander. "Are you sure you're okay in here?" he asked.

What the hell? Apollo was thinking. They left me alone with all the vehicles. Well this won't stand. He saw some zombies walking around down the road a little way. He smiled to himself. Well at least they won't get all the fun. He slung his Sig 552 around his around his back and pulled out a silenced 226 pistol.
Sneaking up, he put two rounds into one zombies head, and three more in another's. Then he holstered the pistol. Something had caught his eye. A gun shop was around the corner from the hospital. Necessities only, eh? He ran towards the gun store very eagerly.
Stepping inside, he immediately drew back from the stench of death. The owner had put up a fight, and lost. A zombie came out of nowhere and grabbed him from behind...

Her eyes adjusted to the darkness Alyssa slung her rifle and drew her pistol instead.
She advanced steadily ahead and they enter a small ward.
"theres usually a nurses station to each ward" she says quietly "there could be more supplies to find.."
She cuts herself short as she listens intently hearing shuffling footsteps. she sees a figure in a nurses uniform approaching and draws her sword.
As the figure shuffles closer its obvious that its a zombie and Alyssa kicks the zombie to the floor and decapitates it.
she shakes the blood of the wakizashi and stamps on the still alive head to kill it.
more noises can be heard in the distance.
"oh i'm fine, really, just a little nervous is all."
Xander was shaking as he looked into the darkness, he could hear the noises of other Zombies, he had seen enough horror movies to know that he would be the first to die.
Carter heard the shuffling from ahead. "Right, stay frosty," he said. He shined his light down the hall. A cluster of about fifteen undead were milling about at the other end of the ward. A few stragglers poked their rotting heads out of patient rooms.
"We can handle that," Carter said. He put his crowbar back on his belt and aimed his rifle. BLAM! A former doctor's head exploded in a grayish mist. BLAM! Another patient hit the floor.
"Xander, cover our backsides. Alyssa, let's see how good you are with that rifle."

Apollo was struggling with the zombie in the gun shop. Finally realizing no one would come to his aid, he reached desperately for a knife on the counter. The zombie holding him now tried to bite him. Just in time he grabbed the weapon and stabbed it into the zombie's face. It slumped lifelessly to the ground. He took a deep breath to calm down, as his heart was pounding in his chest.
He found a light switch and the store flickered to life. Guns lined both walls, mostly civilian hunting rifles, and bodies were everywhere. Covering his face once more to avoid the smell, he made his way to the back room. He fired a round, destroying the lock securing the door and walked inside. This is where the owner had kept the real weapons. SMGs, Sniper rifles, anything and everything you could imagine. Apollo felt home at last. He grabbed an armful of weapons and brought them back to his dune buggy. Then he repeated the same action again. Satisfied with his bounty, he decided to find the others. Several gunshots rang out from the hospital nearby. Of course, the hospital. Medicine and stuff. he remembered and ran off towards the gunfire.
Carter fired again, awkwardly holding his flashlight against the underside of his rifle. The dead were getting closer. He slung his rifle and drew his .45. With the light in his left hand and the gun in his right, he was much more effective.
Another patient took a round in the forehead. His brain sprayed out through the back of his head, and he fell among the bodies. A priest took a shot in the jaw; the bone shattered and hung limply from one side. Another shot destroyed him. A fat woman with a hole in her throat--destroyed. A stark-naked Asian man--destroyed. The stitches in his autopsy incision split as he fell, spilling putrid intestines.
After a few more kills, Carter dropped back to change magazines; he dumped the empty in a pocket. Only a few zombies were left standing. "So far, so good," Carter said. "Let's finish them off."

Apollo didn't think before running headlong into the main entrance of the hospital. As soon as he stepped in he slid on a fresh coating of blood before he could stop himself. He crashed into a counter and flipped over the other side. He landed on top of a zombie. *Bleeeep! Were the thoughts that rushed into his mind immediately. The zombie, who used to be the receptionist, clawed at him and he scrambled back over the counter. Then she came after him, but he had his 552 rifle out by now and pumped her full of lead.
Apollo stood there for a moment grinning. Then he remembered he was looking for the others and continued on. He exchanged sporadic bursts of gunfire with the zombies as he made his way down one of the examination halls. Finally he found what he was looking for, an elevator. He got inside and pressed the 2nd level button. When nothing happened, he decided to open the roof hatch and climb the emergency ladder up to the next level. It only took a few moments to climb, and then he realized the 2nd level elevator door was shut. He took a bit of C4 that had been in the gun shop and blew a crater into the side of the hospital. Gleefully he walked out onto the 2nd floor.
The zombie horde had been reduced to about twenty-five bodies and a slick coating of coagulated blood. "Nice work," Carter said. His ears were ringing from all the gunfire, but the ringing began to subside. "Watch where you step--never know but that one might still be able to bite. There should be a storage room about here--let's find it quickly. All that shooting is bound to attract more rotters."
From nearby, an astounding CRUMP sounded, vibrating the floor under their feet. Cracks webbed through the glass of the nurse's station. "What the deuce was that?"

OOC: Anyone wanna say what floor you're on so I can find you?
Apollo looked proudly at the hole in the wall. Unfortunately it had brought some unwanted attention. Every zombie in the hallway was now heading towards him. Frantically, he checked his ammo. 2 extra clips, great, I'm going to run out of ammo. Might as well enjoy myself before I die. With that thought he unloaded onto the encroaching horde of zombies. He fired continuously through 2 full clips of ammo. Then he tried to conserve his last clip of ammo, but it still didn't last. He had killed many zombies, but they still advanced.
Now he threw his 552 out a window on the side of the hospital facing the vehicles. He'd get it back later. He grabbed for his pistol, removed the silencer, and resumed fire. Realizing it was futile to make a stand against so many, he retreated to a stair well. Apollo was sure the group hadn't been on the 2nd floor, so he climbed up to the 3rd, with many zombies still right behind him.
As the others were raiding the area, he was setting up the MK-19-3 on the vehicle, preparing for any larger zombies in the area. Remembering the time when they were sent to a zoo to evacuate any survivors, he shuddered at the thought of another Bull Elephant Zombie or Rhino... Every once and a while a zombie would pop into view, but for some reason not in large groups. Maybe someone is attracting them. Hope it's not anyone in the team. Better go check.(If its in italics, it is him thinking...) Finishing it up, he just got close enough to hear gunfire from the hospital when he heard a crunching noise.

Apollo continued up the stairs. The zombies were closing on him so he had to walk up backwards so he could fire on the way. But now he was moving too slowly. Almost at the top, he tripped on the last step and fell on his back. The pace of the zombies quickened. He fired his pistol more frantically, having to reload every 15 shots. Now he only had a few pistol mags left. The zombies were closing on him, and something was stuck against the stair railing, holding him down.

Carter took off down the hall, looking for the source of the explosion. His boots squelched in the congealed blood slick; he picked his way over the bodies on the floor. Around the corner, an elevator had been blown wide open. "Jesus," he muttered.
He heard gunshots from nearby. "Come on!" he shouted back to the others, then he moved to help. He rounded another corner--and stopped as he heard the hungry moaning. He peeked: another massive horde was in a frenzy around the entrance to a stairwell.
Carter was not going to use up all of his ammunition on one supply run. He drew his crowbar and drove it through the nearest head. It came back out with a sucking sound, pulling a bit of dark pulp with it. The body fell toward him; he kicked it away and went for the next head. "Hold tight!" he shouted. "We're coming!"

Apollo shot his last bullet into a zombie. He threw the pistol at the nearest zombie and took out his knife. Now they were upon him. He kicked one in the face as they got closer. Then he found his shoelace was wrapped around the hand rail. He cut it with his knife and stood. He looked at his knife, then at all the zombies in the stairwell. Well I have plenty of weapons and ammo back in the dune buggy. If I could get to the damned thing! he lunged into the group of zombies, slashing maniacally with his small knife.
OOC: Are we doing where you have to get bitten to turn or just come into contact with their blood?
Hearing gunfire, he quickly grabbed his M-4, and ran into the building, just running down any lone zombies with the Bayonet, first cutting the head at the neck whenever possible, or just breaking the spine if that was quicker. Against multiple zombies the M-4 Carbine came into use, whittling them down until he could run past or kill with Bayonet. He quickly said into his radio. "What floor you on, just found stairs on first floor."
"Jonathan, Apollo's trapped up there," Carter said. "We need to thin out this crowd." Carter saw Alyssa struggling to free her wakizashi. He brought his boot down hard on the creature's head, feeling bone crack. "Pull!"
As Carter expected, the creatures had begun turning their attention to him and Alyssa. He had to switch back to his .45. He answered his radio, trusting his comrades to keep the horde off him for a few seconds. "Tahakwa! Second floor! Apollo's trapped between two and three!"

Once on his bike, he raced through abandoned streets, seeking the address Ray had given them. When he saw the mob of zombies surrounding the building--dozens--he knew he couldn't kill them all. He'd need another solution.
If Ray and the others inside could get to the building's roof, they might be able to jump to the fire escape of the building across the alley from them. But it was a wide gap, and they risked injury. Alternately...

He took aim at the large group of zombies, and toggled his radio, "Are you guys clear of the front door?"

"Yeah, we're clear, fire away." Ray stood on the roof, looking at Apollo with the RPG.

Jonathan grabbed his radio.
"Hey Apollo don't blow up my car! It has food and supplies in it."

"Wilco, Jonathon." he crouched down to steady his sight, then pulled the trigger and watched in delight as the grenade flew in through the door of the house and exploded in the group of zombies. Dozens of bodyparts came flying out the windows and door of the house. Apollo stood up and looked for a moment, enthralled by a strong feeling of pride in his accomplishment. He tossed the empty launcher into his dune buggy, and it landed in the horde of weapons and ammo he already had stored inside.
After annihalating most of the zombies outside, Tahakwa grabbed his M-4 Carbine and the Bayonet. The grenade launcher extra was set onto the M-4, and the fragmentation grenades were loaded. Driving the rest of the way to the building, he unloaded the M-4 on a group of zombies that had managed to hide behind something. He then caught up with Apollo, "OK, a good explosion is always refreshing, lets head in and get them out."

Ray turned on the radio. "Guys, I'm coming down. He ran down, killed the last few zombies with his shotgun, and walked over to the others. "Thanks. Where to?" Know that he was safe, he would be more calm.

Jonathan ran out of the hospital and back into this car.
"What should we do now?"

Apollo shrugged, "I cleaned out a gun store back by the hospital. Is there anything else we need?" something was itching on his left ankle. He crouched down to itch it, and noticed a small scratch on his leg. It was now slightly aching. The thought ran through his mind instantly, A bite? No, it couldn't be. He would have noticed it before. Even so, he didn't mention it to the group, and he covered up that ankle especially well.

Taking off his ski mask sweat came down from his forehead. Jonathan looked around at the others. He put his ski mask in his pocket. Then he holstered his M14. Jonathan pointed toward his discovery.
"Well if anyones hungry I got a bunch of food in my car."
After the rocket and machine gun had reduced the numbers of zombies milling about, Carter abandoned his original idea and started shooting. A little less finesse than I would have liked, he thought, but hell, it works. He nodded at Ray as the other man appeared in the door and cleaned up the last few with his shotgun. Carter hopped back on the bike. "I'm heading back to the hospital," he said. "I left a few people there."
Carter switched on his radio as he motored away. "Alyssa? Whoever's left at the hospital, what's your current status?"

Alyssa answers her radio.
"I'm still on the second floor boss. all's quiet so far and i found some basic medical equipment thats ready to roll."
"Alright," Carter said. "I'm pulling into the parking garage now. I'll help you pack the stuff up. After that, I say we move on to another target. This one's soaked up plenty of ammunition for one run."
Carter reached the others without trouble. He helped them drag their find to the parking garage and into their vehicles. "I'll examine it once we've got some daylight to work with," he said. In the meantime, we have a few choices. I think someone mentioned finding a gun shop over the radio. There are still two pharmacies, which might have some canned goods and bottled water too. Or we can look for a supermarket or a pantry or something. Or, of course, we can pack it in and head home. Votes?"

"we could hit the supermarket and still hit the pharmacy here" Alyssa replies "i'd like to go to the 5th floor and check it out and see how many walkers are up there first"
"I'm for heading back as soon as we get this stuff, I have been on a run where the group tried to get as much stuff as possible. It wasn't pretty by the end of it, we ended up having to be evacuated by another squad."
