Are they about to vanish?

LUXEMBOURG- Philippe Dermont (Minister of Defence) announced the government's plans for the army today. A thing that jumps out of the picture, is that, while the Defence Ministry's budget has been upscaled, the number of fighting military personnel will be scaled down, while more men and women are asked for logistical service, aswell as office jobs. It ofcourse is the question if this will be following the world, which is following a fairly violent line, as of now. The reason mentioned by Dermont was that the Van Luxemburgian army was to "operate in possible hostile operations, while trying to maintain peace in those areas where it is needed". A large reorganisation is the result of this change of doctrine, from fairly defensive to a peacekeeping goal. Military personnel is said to be "content" with the ideas, and will not lodge a protest at the ministry, while thousands are in danger of losing their jobs. This is because all personnel has been updated on the situation thoroughly.

According to Fieldmarshall Nuijten, commander of the 1st Army, stationed in Luxembourg, he has messaged all his officers to personally talk to the lower personnel, and eventually prepare them to be fired from active service and go in the Royal Logistics Corps, or eventually an office job on one of the HQ's (Headquarters, Red.), while a promotion isn't a big thing to happen in the coming years.

Soldat-Chef Listens of that same 1st Army has commented on the words of Nuijten. He thinkis that the reorganization has been announced well, and to mentally prepare the men for what was coming, it might've been the best thing to do, cause some men and women could collapse after they're expelled from active service.

The new Van Luxemburgian Army, Navy and Airforce won't consist of several parts in their separate specialties, such as the VLAAI (A specialised army for invasions, Red.), but will all have only one organ, with exception of the combined Navy/Army/Airforce Mariniers. They will still continue to count three separate departments, with each their separate specialty.

Another thing that is typical for the new organisation is the high number of armoured vehicles that have been assigned to each division. Due to a high numbe rof leftovers from all the departments, now about 1000 MBT's are sent to each division. Also, about 3000 other armoured vehicles are part of each division. Typical for this is that all the drivers of those vehicles, even the ones for MBT's are counted under the Royal Logistics Corps, while the gunners and other crews belong to the active service. Dermont has deemed this necessary to assign a "realistic number of men" to the divisions.

Another thing is that the new army, navy and airforce will consist of higher-trained personnel, which is more adequate in their tasks and tasking.
