Allanea holds Victory Parade [ATTN Antanjyl War Participants]

Jefferson, Allanea

It has been three years since the Allanean government has moved its seat from Haven and into the Greater Prussian bay. In this time, the new capital has grown at an almost miraculous pace. Wide, well-paved, Napoleon-style streets criss-crossed the new city, and the huge building of Congress was put on a hill at the center, visible from all spots in the city, accessible by Liberty Street – less of a 'street' then a twelve-lane wide road. Today, the Street was reserved for a most special event – Victory Parade, the first such in Allanea for a long time – ever since the One Day War, in fact.

First marched the Ronald Reagan Marine Brigade – the first ones to put on Antanjyl shore. They went forth, proud and tough-looking, medals from old campaigns glinting on the chests of the officers, the privates smiling to the crowd. From the air, one would marvel at rows of wide-brimmed hats moving in accurate, straight files, the Allanean army's crossed silver rifles shining on every one – and a myriad little suns shining on the points of the bayonets.

Children waved, women threw flowers, teenage girls shouted – and then the Marines started singing. Now, the words have been altered slightly for the occasion, and the hymn was now different from what the Allaneans were used to:

From the chilly roofs of Deriksburg
To the shores of Antanjy...

The crowd cheered – and from around the corner turned several George Walker Bush Mk II battle tanks, decorated with harvested skulls of Halladi soldiers (Intervention-era). The cheer broke into a howl.

By then, a new force appeared. Marching in beautiful formation came Team Dagger, Allanea's most dreaded – and least known – special unit. Dressed in black, their faces masked, silver pins depicitng crossed daggers pinned to their chests, the Daggers did not sing – they merely marched through Liberty Street, twenty abreast, solemn and serious. At the front walked Colonel Morrison, the founder of the Team. He, unlike any of the Daggers, was not wearing a mask, nor a black Team Dagger uniform – rather, the usual camouflage and hat of an Allanean Marine Corps drill instructor.

Another group – the crew of the Nine Justices, in blue navies, singing, as well. Those were the people, who, with accurate cannon fire, brought the Port of Antanjyl to ruin and the Antanjyl infantry to rout. Naturally, there was cheering, and clapping, and candy thrown at the ranks of thte troops – though none lifted any that fell.

Five more tanks appeared, in star formation, decorated now in the skulls of fallen Antanjyli men, with kill markings for Antanjyli vehicles shown on the armor plate.

And more units... and more men...

Before the convoy, men ran out of the crowds, dropping flags – Antanjyli unit flags, Bandurian naval banners, one for every unit surrendered and ship sunk by the allies, dropping them in the path of the parading army, who simply stomped on them as it went.

The parade stopped.

Parade! Atten-hut!

The parade froze.

Parade! Prepare to receive Commander-in-Chief!

The troops turned to the left – where, by foresight or accident, three of the twelve lanes remained free. On the middle lane, a brightly-colored open-top Ford Expedition drove through, the Allanean president standing in the car. He wore no uniform – for the greatest honor of the Allanean president is exactly that – that he wears no uniform, and is the Citizen-Commander – leading the Army while not a part of it.

He saluted the troops. First.

Friends! Citizens! Allaneans!

You may wonder why I thus broke tradition, saluting the troops of our nation first – as opposed to the rules of formation. This is why: Usually, the troops serve the nation, and they salute first those who represent it's authority. Today, the nation thanks the troops, and I salute, first, those who bleed, those who die, those who fight for our liberty.

I will not tell you nice sugary words about liberty and its defense – you have proven that you have learned the lesson of liberty better then I ever could teach it.

I cannot list the many that have fallen as heroes, nor can I even list those who have earned medals for bravery. I will mention a few... principal actors if you will, for their names are so bright that they must be mentioned here, if only because to omit them is an insult to their memory.

Mikhail Knizhny, ACIA. He had died in action, delivering information about the crimes of the Antanjyl regime to those who needed to hear of it, preventing peace and compromise with the murderers. Mikhail Knizhny is awarded the Congressional Medal of Freedom, First Class, posthumously.

Colonel Pavel Radzynsky, Reagan Brigade, Marine Corps. Colonel Radzynsky led his battalion in a counterassault against a numerically superior Antanjyli armored offensive, on foot and unprotected. He had then leaped upon an Antanjyli battle-tank, destroying it at the cost of his own life. Colonel Radzynsky is awarded the Congressional Medal of Freedom, First Class, posthumously.

Many more are awarded. At last count, Congress has aproved 1,256 awards going to various members of the armed services, of them 800 to members of Colonel' Radzynsky's battalion and those who participated in his charge. But today, I feel it is necessary to note that, as President, I must also thank our allies and their commanders.

Therefore, I asked Congress – and got their permission – to award the Naval Cross to Grand Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto III, of the Psychotic Psychos navy, and Fleet Admiral Emperor Xavier DeSoto of the Scandavian Navy, for their valiant actions in defeat of the Whyatican, Scandinvan, Bandurian, and Antanjyli navy, and protecting the Allanean landing force.

This will forever serve to remind us that protecting liberty in this unfree multiverse is a sacred task – a task not merely for Allaneans, but for all mankind. When someone tells you that maybe protecting liberty is not worth fighting for, that our troops are 'baby-killers' rather then heroes- don't bother answering. Just think about Michael Knizhny. Think about Pavel Radzynsky. Think about Isoroku Yamamoto.

And then tell the idiot who says that to shut the hell up.

Thank you, brave warriors.

Thank you, Citizens.

And may God bless Allanea.

OOC: After your attack on our undefended troops Antanjyl's people are more or less in a constant state of riot and anger against you and the Democratic Regime(which resigned). IC:

Antanjyl

The riots continued in Antanjyl, while any television broadcasts showing that parade were more or less knocked over or destroyed. The people have finally had enough of Allanea's brutal oppression, which had finally become untolerable. When they launched thousands of missiles onto undefended military personnel and civilian workers, the last straw was broken, and all over the nation all hell was breaking loose as winter began to wall, bathing the entire nation in a soon-to-be all encompassing snow.

All over the news Agency Members were leaving their posts, the government's only police force, and those coming back from Allanea with their-brainwashed views were more or less lynched as traitors, however the military was still attempting to keep any Agency Members from there from ever coming back, due to the fact that they received notes of what exactly happened there. All in all Allanea had finally lit the powder keg which was Antanjyl's slowly angrying people. The solitary upside to this was, that with the dense snow fall, most of the fires were finally put out.
