Kaiser Wilhelm III Crowned!
Crown Prince Promises German Restoration

January 1, 1945

After a glorious ceremony at the Palace in Berlin, newly crowned Wilhelm III has made many promises. With the death of his father, Wilhelm the Mighty, the new Emperor took the lead of the German people following the War of Communist Agression, or more simply, the Third Great War. With much to rebuild, the new Emperor has much to do.

His first plans are for a great National Effort by the German people. Starting with the construction of a mighty merchant fleet to restore business ties to the Empire's old allies, he will then move on to rebuilding and increasing the Empire's industrial capabilities. He also promises great social reforms to protect the citizens of the Empire. Meanwhile, the military is likely to be left out of the German growth. However, with the lack of any real power in Mainland Europe, and strong allies in London, and outside agression is likely to be minimal.

Kaiser Names Chancellor, Cabinet
Heros of Germany Dot List

February 18, 1945

After several weeks of deliberation, Kaiser Wilhelm III has declared his cabinet:

Chancellor-General Erwin Rommel
Minister of Foreign Affairs-Dr. Hugo Eckener
Minister of Domestic Affairs-Dr. Heinrich Brüning
Chief of Armed Forces-General Erich von Manstein

The list is much applauded with many famous names. General Rommel played a key part in the salvation of Germany during the war, as well as being a faithful Marshal, serving his people well. Dr. Eckener is well known throughout the world for his kind manner and marketing genious. The Kaiser is also reported to enjoy Zeppelins. Dr Bruning is a well known economist who served Kaiser Wilhelm II during the Junker Exodus. His education in London is also applauded. Lastly, General von Manstein, the valiant commander of the Free German Legion, was chosen for Chief of Armed Forces.

While the Chancellor retains the actual power, the three other ministers are his Seconds and decide much of the policies. Under them are various other ministries who report to their appropriate minister.

Some criticism has been made of the use of Dr Eckener and General Rommel, who both served their people under the shackles of Russian Communism. However, the Kaiser believes that their true support has always been for the German people and that they will continue to do so.

New Verse Added to New Anthem
Das Lied der Deutschen Given 4th Verse to Fit With Times

February 28, 1945

With the rising of a new empire, a new anthem was needed. Kaiser Wilhelm III, knowing his father's favorite song, Das Lied der Deutschen, decided it would be perfect to honor his great father and the German people. Put to vote in the Reichstag, a unanimous declaration was granted and newly appointed Chancellor Rommel wholeheartedly agreed.

However, only three days after it was announced, a fourth verse was sent to the office of the Chancellor. Written by Albert Matthai, the fourth verse appropropriately shows the feelings that all Germans have felt after such a horrible victory. Looking forward to hope in times of trial, Chancellor Rommel immediately sent it to the Reichstag, where it nearly was unanimous. The Kaiser then announced to Brandenburg Square that it was so. The Imperial Choir then sang the full song seventeen times.

Kaiser Announces Goodwill Mission
Trip to the Anglo World is Planned

July 10, 1945

Kaiser Wilhelm announced yesterday his intentions for a goodwill trip to the British Empire and the Commonwealth. He first plans to attend the funeral of the Prime Minister of Australia where he plans to meet President Truman and then travel throughout Australia. He will then fly to Burma shortly to wish them luck. From there he will fly to South Africa, where it is rumoured that he will purchase land in ex-German Southwest Africa, and then to the Bahamas for a short trip there. From there he will go to Canada and then finish his trip in Britain where he will meet his family and discuss future Anglo-German issues.

Some have criticized the Reich for only meeting with Anglo countries. The Chancellor has rebuffed them saying that his meeting with the Buffer States was just recently finished and he has also informed the Telegraph that he plans to meet with the Seoul Treaty nations next year.

Ministries of Veteran Affairs and Junker Diasporas Created
New Department Created to Aid Veterans of All Wars and Foreign Junkers Who Lost Their Lands

July 30, 1945

In a highly lauded move by the Chief of Armed Forces, the Ministry of Veteran Affair and Ministry of German Diaspora were created and placed under the Chief of the Armed Forces. The Veterans Affairs will give aid to veterans of every war, including the two Communist ones, regardless of alegiance. The Ministry of German Diaspora is being made to connect families of the spread following the Revolution to their places at home, as well as to return lands to the proper families.

The moves are applauded by all types. While conservatives are weary of allowing communist veterans to be included, veterans of all types are overjoyed at the prospect. It is hoped that the move will unite the veterans and repair any hard feelings. The Diaspora Ministry will try to get as many citizens back to Germany from places like Canada, the UK, Venezuela and Burgundy as possible and reconnect them to their old ties. Attempts will also be made to return land to old Junker families. Archives from the early teens are being reviewed in hope that land will be distributed fairly. While the poorer classes are angry, the conservatives praise the idea fully. It seems that a balance has been struck in a wise move by the new Chancellor.

Germany, Portugal Announce New Agreement
Lower Tariffs, Immigration Incentives Part of Plan

April 23, 1946

In a deal decided in the depths of the German Embassy in Lisbon, a new agreement between the New State of Portugal and the German Empire has been released. In a move by the Portugese to increase population to Afrika and German interest to provide new places for its brand new trade fleet to work, the Afrika Cooperation Agreement has been ratified.

It calls for tariffs between Portugal and German to be greatly reduced, and for German ships to be allowed to refuel in the Azores for minimal costs. It also calls for the Empire to provide incentives for German immigration to Portuguese Afrika.

The German Government, in accordance to the agreement, has announced a new immigration plan. Any Germans of nearly pure heritage are allowed to immigrate to Portuguese Afrika. Free land is set up for families wishing to move there. Families wishing to move must apply at the nearby immigration office to apply for opportunities.

REUNIFICATION!
Austria Votes to Reunify with Germany

June 29, 1946

In an overwhelming vote by Austria, the Austrian people have voted to reconnect themselves with their German bretheren! After much rejoicing, the Reichstag has announced that the spots once held by Austrians will be reopen and elections will be held next month. Austria, under the terms of the Reunification, will be allowed to maintain a great deal of autonimity, being allowed to govern its own domestic issues such as taxes and immigration, much like the other states of Germany. However, foreign policy and the military will be integrated into the Empire. In a speech by the Kaiser, he announced that a new holiday will happen on this day, named Reunification Day.

German Heir Abdicates From Throne
Against Wishes of Father, Marries American

May 19, 1947

Once Heir to the throne, Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia is now nothing but a commoner. He has given up his place as heir to head of the Hohenzollern Line, in favor of marrying Mary MacAllister, an American from Detroit.

While the family is dismayed, the next person in line, Hubertus, is said to be somewhat pleased. Once being far down the line, his elder, Wilhelm, perished fighting against the Communists in the Eurasian War.

German Prince, British Princess Betrothed!
Prince Friedrich and Princess Elizabeth Expected to Marry in May

December 26, 1947

Today, the Royal Family announced that another marriage would occur in the Hohenzollern house. This time, the marriage would be much more appropriate to the Kaiser. The once Fourth heir to the throne, Prince Friedrich, agreed to marry the current heir to the British throne, Elizabeth. Hubertus, the direct heir and third son has announced his overjoyment at the marriage of his brother and distant cousin. "With this marriage may as much joy come to Fred and Liz, as it will to Germany and Britain."

The Kaiser announced his personal happiness at the wisdom of the marriage. However, he is still somewhat saddened. "After having lost one son to the Kommunists, and one to an Amerikan woman, it will be a shame to only have Hubertus at my side." In other news, the Kaiser announced that by 1949, Reconstruction will have completed and that the National Effort will be completed.

Communique to Berlin:

It has come to our attention that despite our warning Germany is pursuing an atomic program. We warned Germany once, and we will remind you, the Scandic Union will not tolerate a nuclear capable Germany. If even a single nuclear weapon is produced it will mean a state of war between our two nations, a war whose goal will be to see a more friendly and compliant government in Berlin.

SIC (if Germany passes on info on the SU threat to Britain):

Britain secretly pledges her support to her German ally in the matter of nuclear weapons. Especially considering the recent cooperation between the nations of Europe. The British Intelligence Chiefs in London dismiss the threats as empty and begin an assessment of the Scandinavian military strengths.

From the non-secret perspective the British government states it's neutrality in the issue of nuclear development stating that it was the old German Communist government that started the last war and that there has been much cooperation with the new German powers recently. The Foreign Secretary states the ESA and nuclear power programs as examples. Much is made of the fact that German scientists and government officials have been working on the Space and power programs as equals and that without their aid such developments would be impossible. It is also stated that if German scientists can be trusted to work on such projects then they can surely work on the defence of their own nation. Whereas no fuss is kicked up when a new nuclear power (the SU) makes demands of a neighbour on threat of war.

The British press however may not be so kind...

Response to Stockholm

Who are you to decide who can and cannot develop nuclear weapons? While Germany has peacefully rebuilt itself after Communist oppression and LTA bombs, the SU has persued nuclear aims, to the disappointment of the Kaiser, yet we made no fuss. We are simply maintaining the balance of power that has been tilted recently. If the Scandic people feel that they cannot live in a fair balance with the Teutonic race, then Germany is ready to defend itself against all odds.

Message from Berlin

The recent funding allocated to Nuclear infrastructure is solely for the purpose of self-defense and national pride. Germany is ready to rise to reclaim its place as a world power, both economically and militarily. Germany is ready to be a nation that can stand on its own again, after being under the rule of Slavs for the past three decades. The recontruction of the large army is to retain the Prussian Traditions that the Kaiser holds dear. The step to nuclear status is solely to maintain the balance in Europe. Why does no one argue or protest when the SU develops, builds and then detonates a bomb so close to populated areas? Germany has no wish to expand her empire further on this earth. Are the nations of the world so foolish as to believe that Germany wishes any more war? The German people wish nothing but to retain their pride and that is the purpose of the nuclear development. Germany also promises to never be the first nation to execute a nuclear strike, should such a terrible exchange take place.

Communique to Berlin:
Germany has no right to talk to the Scandic Union about self defense. In the past eighty years alone Germany has invaded Scandinavia three times, Germany has stripped Scandinavia of land more than once and has on multiple occasions held whole countries hostage. Not to mention what we have had to put up with in your allies to the east. It has been us Scandics who have lived under your shadow for years. You are right, the balance of power has shifted, no longer is Germany an all powerfull nation that can impose its will on all around it, and that frightens you. Scandinavia has not once invaded or provoked a foriegn nation since the beggining of the German nation, which is much mroe than Germany can say. No, Germany will not be allowed to aquire nuclear weaponry, and Scandinavia is willing to go to great lengths to see to it.

Mein Herr Kaiser,

South Africa understands the German nation's predicament, and does not hold the Imperial government responsible for the crimes and the strong-arm tactics of the now-defunct communist Worker's Republic. The Union of the South Africa offers to negotiate the sale of South African uranium to Germany should the latter's current suppliers end sales due to Scandic protestations and veiled threats.

Naturally, it may be best to negotiate such a transaction over private channels, so as to avoid overreaction on the part of the Scandic Union.

However, in light of the Colombian debt, Germany has agreed to indefinately delay its nuclear production, citing that nuclear protection is provided by Britain.

Britain reaffirms her intentions to defend her allies by any means necessary. To further this end it is hoped that the German government will allow the stationing of nuclear weapons at the British base in Stettin. There will be just enough weapons to equip the B47 nuclear capable bomber wing that is stationed there. The Ministry of Defence hopes that the presence of a nuclear deterrent on German soil will improve the defences there in case of an NBC attack. However if the German government does not wish for such an occurence then this is perfectly acceptable and cover will be provided by nuclear capable Avro Vulcans flying from bases in the UK.

Damascus, Syria

"The hell is this guy?"

Heinrich Schultz, the Ambassador to Syria flicked the remnants of his cigarette onto the street. A man, armed with an MP-40 stood next to him.

"No idea, sir." he replied as he rubbed the side of his rifle, polishing it. "Who is he again?"

"He's some Arab patriarch. Mohammad Ibn Ta... something. I think it's Talal or something unpronouncable. The House of Rashidi is supposed to be a lot less hardass and easier to work with. Plus they have close relationships with the others."

"And we're talking with him instead of working with the Saudis because...?"

"Because the Saudis are freaks who would stab us in the back at any moment. At least that's what the Docktor says. Plus, I hear the Saudis have been talking with the Swedes. You don't know that, or any of this, of course, you hear me Adolf?"

"Of course, sir."

A man in robes, escorted by nearly a dozen Arabs armed with K98s walked down the street.

"These must be them.... Herr Ibn Talal!"

The man looked in the Ambassador's direction and walked over.

"Herr Ibn Talal, I am Heinrich Schultz, Ambassador to Syria and this is Aldoph Reichmann, my military adjunct. I assume you know why we are meeting?"

The man nodded.

"Then follow me to my office upstairs..."

Britain reassures the SU that these weapons will remain safely under completely British control within what is regarded as almost British sovereign territory (a big almost). We will leave the matter up to the German authorities (who have already agreed to it) as it is their country and should not be meddled in by foreigners. It makes little difference to strike range really as the aircraft can reach anywhere just as easily from RAF Brize Norton and so on than from Stettin. It just adds further deterrence to any potential invaders.

Britain informs the German government of the impending transferral of Hydrogen bombs (recently tech-shared with USA) in early 1950 once final testing has gone underway. In the mean time several convential nuclear weapons will be housed at Stettin due to arrive by October 1949.

Crossposted from British News Thread:

Britain's first nuclear test is made on the Australian Pacific Territory of Swain's Island. It is a 20 kiloton sized detonation and scientists are beginning to study effects of the fallout and detonation on the area's flora, fauna and landscape. British experts have been brought in to contain the radiation to the immediate region as far as possible, though effects are expected to be extremely minimal due to the isolated location chosen. Half a dozen bombs are expected to be ready by the year's end (minus the one already detonated) with one of them being donated to the Australian government/military for their own testing and weapons program. Production of the bombs is expected to be fully operational by next year with 12 bombs being produced per annum, one of which will be donated to Australia. Production of Hydrogen bombs (via knowledge gained from the USA) is expected to reach the same levels. Though no Hydrogen bombs will be made available to other nations as this was the condition on the use of US technology.

News reel footage of the explosion is shown on the BBC and in cinemas around the Empire (and is offered to Commonwealth nations and Germany for useage there) in an attempt to demonstrate the fact that Britain can stand up for itself and it's allies in this modern world.

Secret IC: Two of the bombs are transferred to the Stettin base in Germany by a C54 transport aircraft as soon as they are produced. They are placed under a heavy armed guard in a hanger at the base alongside the B54 nuclear capable aircraft present there.

The European Space Agency has announced that it's first sub-orbital flight has been made. The flight was launched from the ESA launch facility in Sierra Leone. It was ably piloted by an unamed German test pilot and reached heights of 116.5 miles (187 km). After reaching the peak height the craft began to descend through the atmosphere. Both it's heat shielding and parachutes functioned correctly and the craft touched down around 300 miles into the Atlantic Ocean. The radio location devices functioned almsot perfectly and the craft was soon located by a helicopter from the aircraft carrier HMS Vindictive, which had been seconded from the British Navy Atlantic Fleet for this purpose. Both the spacecraft and the pilot were recovered the the Vindictive and taken back to Sierra Leone.

Footage of the flight was broadcast across the world and the ESA hopes to reach true space within three years.

OOC: I gave a 10% chance of each major system (parachute, heat shields, recovery etc.) failing and a 30% chance of this failure being serious. As it happened no failures occured and the craft completed it's mission adequately.

ESA Manned Mission a Success!
German Pilot Günther Rall First Man to Reach Sub-Orbital!

Three days ago, the ESA announced that the first manned mission was a complete sucess. They also announced that a German had been the pilot. Günther Rall, a veteran of the Eurasian War was chosen. He was known as one of the Top Aces of the Volksluftwaffe. While many in the ESA were against the use of members of the old regime, Walter Dornberger, a resident during the old communist reign himself, has universally decided that "these young boys, like their esteemed Chancellor, have their loyalty to Germany, not that who leads it."

This is in continuation of the Kaiser's policy of Reconciliation and Reconstruction, which has been identified by the use of many of the competent members of the old Volksreich to rebuild the Empire.

KAISER DEAD
Kaiser Wilhelm III Dies in Sleep of Cancer

December 27, 1950

In a most tragic occurrance, Kaiser Wilhelm III passed away in his sleep last night at 10:45 GMT in the Imperial Summer Home in Windhuk, South Africa. While no autopsy has been approved yet, it is determined that the Kaiser died of cancer probably contracted several years ago when the Scandinavian Union detonated a nuclear weapon dangerously close to Northern Europe. While no accusations are being made from the government, it will be difficult for Germany.

"He was a loyal son, a just ruler, an able leader, and an overall good man," spoke Dr Hugo Eckener, who was with him the last day. "He led Germany through the reconstruction and allowed it to retake its place as a world power." Johann Schultz of Windhuk said, "He wasn't near as belligerent as his father was. He had a cool head and didn't want to spark a war at a moment's notice, something all Germans can be happy about."

His death comes after his willingness to cooperate with the Scandics, even though most consider them to be Germany's top rival. His agreement to suspend nuclear research was one that gave everyone all across the world a breath of fresh air. He also was pushing for peace in the Middle East. It was only two days ago that the Kaiser pleaded with the Scandics to stop their funding of the fanatical Sa'ud Family. However, much is likely to change with his son.

"Hubertus is a good fellow, if not a tad vicious. A real fan of Bismark from what I hear." Dr Eckener, however, is willing to work with the Crown Prince, who is expected to be crowned within the week. However, Hubertus has already taken the office of Kaiser and is issuing orders dealing with the situation in Arabia.

In a secret project in Sierra Leone, the ESA begins it's first satellite mission.

The first mission was attempted on January 18th 1952. The rocket was on its launch platform and all systems were go, however shortly after take off the rocket unexpectedly exploded, damaging some nearby buildings and part of the launch tower, but fortunately causing no casualties. Many immediately suspected an act of sabotage from a rival space program (either the SCT or, more scarily, the USA). However investigations into the cause are still underway.

A second launch effort was immediately begun, with the tower being rebuilt and a back up satellite being hastily readied. The second satellite, codenamed Discovery II, was launched on January 22nd, being a particularly poignant occasion as this was the 51st anniversary of the death of Queen Victoria whose name was given to the main research centre for this project. The second launch was successful and the satellite reached a peak orbit point of 939km. The satellite is sending back temoerature and pressure details of the outer reaches of the Earth's atmosphere. It has been estimated that the battery life will be around 3 weeks, but the satellit ewill remain in ordbit for almsot 3 months. Plans are made for follow up launches later in the year.

OOC: Not a sabotage attempt, just a fault in the fuel systems. A randomly determined error occur (rolled for by me) and it disintegrated. A substitute launch was paid for by the British secret funds (overspend from last budget) and a second satellite and launch vehicle used from the dozen or so back ups always ready in such situations. The codename is pretty lame, but the best I could think of (ESA members feel free to suggest better ones).

How, you ask, can Germany become greater?

My friends, several years ago, under the reign of my father, Germany began construction of its own nuclear weapons program. However, due to the rash and jealous ideals of the Scandic Union, Germany was forced to halt the program. However, all has changed.

What possible use does the FNS have for owning Nuclear Weapons?

The idea that Germany and Russia, the most violent of nations in the world could one day own nuclear weapons once more and threaten the people of the world, yet again.

Even now Germany is embroiling itself in affairs not of its own, and beginning the cycles of international crisis. One must understand that the concept of an Arms Race lies only with the idea of ones own race being inferior.

Is it the German Governments concern over this inferiority that leads to this constant belligerance all over the world, and the development of nuclear technology designed obviously without peaceful intentions?

Your racist and antagonistic claims about the Germanic and Russian Peoples do nothing to help your case.

This is solely a matter of national security, and national self-determination. If Germany was so belligerent and violent, as you said, why would so many nations be willing to sign a defensive alliance with it?

As to our intereference? I ask of you what! (remember, you didn't find out about my 20 points :) ) To that, I point to you your friend and ally the SU who is meddling in the politics of everyone he sees! Much more, he has more numerous and powerful nuclear weapons than Germany ever desires.

Governmental Reforms Made!
Reichstag Given More Power!

June 3, 1954

In a radical new move today, Kaiser Hubertus announced that new powers will be given to the Reichstag. Previously, the Reichstag only held moderate power over domestic affairs, with most of the power held by the Chancellor and his Cabinet. However, today that all changed.

The Reichstag now is able to:
-The Sole Power on Domestic Affairs. The Chancellor is now limited to a Veto ruling that like the American System can be overturned.
-Has the power to regulate taxes and budgets.
-Can Declare War.

This leaves the Kaiser with only one official power: the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. His Cabinet is now handed over to the Reichstag and will rotate every two years.

While Rommel was selected to remain Chancellor, he resigned citing a desire to settle down as well as to assist the Arab people in rising out of the Ashes. His job, he says, as a reconstruction leader is finished. He is replaced by Vienna Mayor and friend of the Kaiser, Kurt von Schuschnigg.

Domestic Minister Heinrich Bruning will remain in office.

Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo Eckener, to the dismay of many is replaced by Joachim von Ribbentrop, Ambassador to Scandinavia.

Chief of Staff Erich von Manstein is replaced by Luftwaffe Commander, Hermann Göring.

The Reichstag has promised a wave of prosperity for the future and an end to hostility towards our neighbors.

The posibility of increasing the size of the EEC by 50% is one that is acceptable to the Empire. However, he is more cautious about the ESA. The next day riots break out in Hamburg, Berlin and across the Rhineland and at least some demonstrations are held in every other city. Police units are hit the hardest, but many join in. The riots, rather than looting, merely begin to attack government buildings, arresting many Reichstag appointed mayors.

That next night, during the Emergency Meeting, the Imperial Guard storms the Reichstag. The Kaiser orders all members of the Reichstag, as well as the Chancellor ,Cheif of Staff and the Minsters of Foreign Affairs and Domestic Affairs, to be placed under arrest. The Kaiser then declares the Empire to be under a State of Emergency and an Emergency Cabinet is declared. Chancellor Von Schuschnigg is returned to his position as is Domestic Minister Bruning. Ex-Chancellor Rommel is made Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ex-Luftwaffe Commander Albert Kesselring is made Chief of Staff. He is replaced by Generaloberst Manfred von Richtoven.

The delegates, numbering nearly 200 in all, begin to divide in distinct factions, all with their own ideas for how a new Germany should be run. They are:

-The Conservatives: They yearn for a strong central government. They call for the Chancellor to hold most of the power and for any form of states or kingdoms to have very little power. How the Chancellor comes to power, however, is debatable. Many Businessmen, Junkers and Military men are in this largest faction.

-The Monarchists: They think that the whole Coup was overrated and call for the Kaiser's power to remain strong. They practically demand that the Kaiserina keep some power, and some even call for Hubertus to return. Military men and Junkers fill the ranks of this moderately small group.

-The Libertarians: They call for a very small government run primarily by smaller entities. While they have no wish to become a mere confederation, they believe that the power of the Kaiser has always been too strong, and some even call for an abolishment of the Monarchy. They also call for many civil liberties and a reduction in the role of the Reichstag. Businessmen and Southern Germans as well as many Poles fill these ranks. This faction is surprisingly large, second only to the dominating Conservatives.

-The Confederalists: These men call for an extreme reduction of the Kaiser and the Reichstag's power. Some even go as far as desintegration of the Empire in favor of something relating the Old Pre-Bismarck days. This party has many of the more moderate members taken up by the Libertarians so their numbers are limited to Extremist Poles and Viennese.

-The Communists: Numbering four in total, these men were old Party Members who decided that it was their chance to restore the Union. They call for closer ties with Russia and greater social services. These Berliners, however, have nearly no consequence to the discussions and are close to getting themselves banned.

While there are many sides, nearly all agree that Germany should maintain a relatively large armed forces, its presence in the Middle East, its ties with Britain and the EEC, and the high level of social services Germany enjoys.

Debates rage on for weeks and no side has a clear plan. However, a member of the Conservatives, Kurt Georg Kiesinger, Mayor of Berlin, has stepped up and called for unity among the German peoples. He makes speeches about how Germany needs to remain strong in these times. He also, behind the scenes, makes pacts with members of the Monarchists and more moderate libertarians.

The Kaiserin, however, sits quietly, surrounded by a platoon of her Imperial Guard, and learns.

SIC: The KND is not sure where to go to ask for permission, so it goes to the Kaiserin who immediately approves. The KND is given a blank check to figure out who is interfering in German Domestic Politics. The Kaiserin also has plans to call them out when the time comes.

IC: Several plans are placed on the floor. Some resemble the old constiution, some the American, some the British, and some are totally random.

The most supported plan, at the moment, is a plan that advocates a Reichstag with many powers. The executive power lies largely in the power of smaller states, and the Kaiserin retains some power (largely like that of the RL president of Germany).

The Confederalists, however, with their new funds, have put up a stout resistance, calling for a much weaker legislature.
[NS]Parthini

The plan, called the Adenauer Plan after its inventor Koln resident Konrad Adenauer, is by far the most supported with nearly 64% for it. The Confederalists, a relatively strong 16% all completely oppose it, as they now feel the power to do so. The Communists with their 2% are on the brink of expulsion for their loud words. A few radical Monarchists and Conservatives oppose it, but they are slowly swoon.

The plan calls for a three branch government:

The Judicial
-totally independant of either branches.
-has the power of judicial review
-retains many of the characteristics of the old Judicial

The Legislature
-1 House-the Reichstag
-to have 798 members with 399 to be generally elected and 399 to be representatives of each state.
-to have power to create laws, declare war, declare tariffs, ratify treaties, etc
-approves or disapproves the Chancellor and other Cabinet members.
-Can choose a Constructive Vote of No Confidence and oust Chancellor. Kaiser must have replacement ready and Reichstag must have approved
-Reichstag does the budget along with the Minister of Domestic Affairs
-Only parties with 5% of the vote is allowed to have a seat (keeps out the Commies)
-The Reichstag can give the Kaiser emergency powers

The Executive
-At top Kaiser(in)
-Chooses Chancellor, does other ceremonious things (like Britain's Queen in RL)
-Chancellor is the top member of the Executive. Has powers similar to Prime Minister. Chooses 3 Cabinet members (Domestic, Foreign, Chief of Armed Forces)
-Domestic Minister does Domestic affairs
-Foreign Minister does Foreign Affairs
Chief of Armed Forces is a General chosen by Chancellor. Is Commander in Chief
-Most power, however, lies in states. States are (for gameplay purposes each city I name on the economy thread)
-Each state has most executive power.
-Federal Executives only have power that is interstate.
-Each state has power to run its own Landwehr Unit. State decides if Landwehr is to go to war or not. When landwehrs goes to war, they are put under the Chief of Armed Forces, temporarily.
-Luftwaffe and Kaiserlich Marine, as well as Federal Troops under command of Federal Government
-Imperial Guard under direct command of Kaiser

Clauses about basic civil and human rights are put in throughout the consitution. Included are the right to Free Press, Free Religion, Peaceful assembly, right to petition, right to bear arms, right to a fair trial, and many others (think American Bill of Rights)

A separate clause, the Service for Service clause, is put in after much debate. It states that before a person can join the public service, other than foreign service, or vote, he or she must serve in the Armed Forces of either the Federal Armed Forces or the State Armies for three years. While many representatives call this a military take over, others praise it. It means that if one wishes to run the country, one must be willing to give one's life for the country. Also, if one hates the army, one can always join the Foreign Service.

Many conservatives also bemoan the split of armed forces. However, the states only run the Landwehr, and Adenauer reminds them that should the states become too uncooperative, the Reichstag makes the budget.

A vote is to be taken today with 3/4ths of the vote required for passing.

-----------

In Karlsruhe, the Judiciary decided on the fates of the members of the Coup.

Regarding the fact that no one was killed during the events and the Coup members gave up willingly, light punishment was given.

The hardest punishment was that of the Kaiser. A reaffirmment of his exile and resignation is made, as well as a hefty fine. 3 Generals are give 5 years hard labor, and 28 are fined. Several members of the army are also jailed for crimes committed during the Junta.

The Nigerian government, although it is no longer allied through the Commonwealth with Germany, would like to offer an indepent Alliance and Mutual Defense Treaty. Essentially, it stipulates that if the one is attacked the other will come to their aid. However, they are under no obligation to assist should one be the aggressor.

The two hundred delegates in Berlin vote on the constitution. After many debates the votes are as is. 3/4ths vote is required to pass.

76 Conservatives
-71 Ja
-4 Nein
-1 Keine Wahlstimme

42 Libertarians
-34 Ja
-6 Nein
-2 Keine Wahlstimme

53 Monarchists
-40 Ja
-8 Nein
-5 Keine Wahlstimme

25 Confederationists
-7 Ja
-18 Nein
-0 Keine Wahlstimme

4 Communists
-0 Ja
-4 Nein
-0 Keine Wahlstimme

The Constitution narrowly passes with a 76% vote for Ja.

All breathe a sigh of relief. The factions, before returning home, begin discussing plans for political parties. 3 Large Parties are formed, along with minor other parties. They are:

Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands
-Formed primarily of the conservatives and a few Monarchists, this party is mainly for the power of the Reichstag and the Federal Government. They push for Government programs such as education and healthcare and push for government intervention in business. They also call for high military budgets.

Freie Demokratische Partei
-Made up of Libertarians and moderate Confederationalists, and even a few Monarchists, this party calls for large power in the states. They call for a reduction in Social Services and are in favor of tax cuts. They are in favor of little or no intervention in business. However, they are torn on the issue of the military.

Deutsche Bundpartei
-The Confederationist party. They call for weak government in the Federal level and abolishment of the Kaiser. They are in favor of States'-Rights in all matters. Social services are low on the agenda. However, they are clear in their wishes for the military; they call for it to be drastically reduced. They are also the only party to call for an end to the Space Program.

The Smaller Parties include:

Bayern-Österreich Partei
-This party calls for independance for Bavaria and Austria and practically nothing else.

Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands
-This is the party that calls for recreation of the German part of the Union. Not much else.

Die Partei
-A satirical party that calls for a return to the days of Roman Times and abolishment of paper. They also run on the idea of an orbital weapons platform which will give Germany a monopoly on space travel.

Elections are to be held in December.

The Results are in for the December election. Those who have finished three years of military service numbered 38,067,347, and those who voted numbered 32,914,670 leading to a staggering 86% voting rate. However, there were numerous rallies in various cities protesting the restriction of political rights. However, in corespondence with the Constitution, the rallies went off without any confrontation.

In the Federal Electorate the election results went as given:

CDU-247-61%
FDP-70-17.3%
DB-62-15.2%
BOP-20-5%
SPD-0-1%
DP-0-.5%

The CDU came through in a crushing majority over the FDP, which was expected to make a much stronger presence. Speculation is the amazing campaign which the DB came through with due to massive funding and the split that ensued. The BOP came through surprisingly making the 5% margin. The SPD and DP (not surprisingly) did not make the margin.

In the State Elections results were somewhat different:

CDU-165-41%
FDP-98-24.2%
DB-84-21%
BOP-32-8%
SPD-20-5%
DP-0-.8%

The CDU did not do as well, while the FDP came through much stronger, albeit, many votes were taken by the DB and BOP, which made a better presence. The SPD also was able to take several seats, due to its slim passage of the 5% law. The DP yet again did not make any presence, not even gaining 1%.

The total seats are:

CDU-412
FDP-168
DB-146
BOP-52
SPD-20

The Kaiserin kept Kurt von Schuschnigg (CDU) as Chancellor, who was approved by a 85% approval. He also kept his cabinet.

That is very true, and Turkey deserves that same umbrella. We will not sell Turkey any weapons, but we will bring them under our umbrella.
