Sorantanali announces destinations in first state visit as PM
Reaches out to Roach-Busterian, Guffingfordii and Parthian leadership

Prime Minister Constantino Sorantanali told reporters Friday he would make his first state visit to the United Kingdom of Azazia, followed shortly thereafter by a second state visit to Pacitalia's strongest ally, the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire. Traditionally, Hamptonshire is the first nation to be visited, however, due to the recent internal strife caused by deposed ex-Regent Bernard Allenby, the Hamptonian visit has been delayed.

"The foreign ministry has been in talks with their Azazian counterparts for most of this week," Sorantanali said. "I also received a personal letter from Mr Tetley, the prime minister of Azazia, at my swearing-in ceremony, and was glad to hear they are just as anxious to engage in some form of visitation. The Pacitalian state visit to the United Kingdom will usher in a new wave of Pacitalian diplomacy.

The PM downplayed the Hamptonians' internal battles, saying "the Grand Duchy is now stable and calm. The trial of certain individuals is going ahead legitimately and according to the provisions set out by the Lord Protector, and I have absolutely no concerns at this time. I simply wish to delay our visit to Hamptonshire to allow them time to concentrate on these judicial matters."

He added: "My administration thinks nothing less of Hamptonshire now than it did before, and I would ask you all to do the same. Hamptonian officials are solving their country's issues admirably and efficiently."

At the press conference, Mr Sorantanali also chose to reach out to extremist nations Pacitalia has spurned in the past, offering them the opportunity to work to restoring relations. Specifically, he named Kaiser J.L. I, Shah Khosru III and Maximillian Kalba in his olive-branch speech.

"The very foundations of our ties with these states were set by the previous government and still exist," Sorantanali said. "Restoring our relations, at least to be friendly on a diplomatic level, is quite important for my administration, as I hope it is for them. There are nations who have been there beside us before, and we have let each other down. There are nations who we have been terribly unfair to, and it is our responsibility to rectify that."

Sorantanali pointed to the recent knighting of PdT leader Marco Quirinamo by the Roach-Busterian monarchy as a sign that Roach-Busters is warming to the idea of a restored friendship. "I know there will be certain figures, both past and present, on both sides of the border ready to get back to being friends again," he said.

Imperium (ABN) - Earlier today, Pacitalia’s new Prime Minister, Constantino Sorantanali, announced to the press that his first state visit would be to the United Kingdom. While there had been much speculation in the Citadel about the Prime Minister Sorantanali’s visit, it had widely been assumed that the Pacitalian Prime Minister would continue the tradition of visiting the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire.

At the afternoon press conference Prime Minister Tetley’s Press Secretary, Victoria Clarke, confirmed Mr. Sorantanali’s statement by saying that “Lord Salisbury is most pleased that the esteemed Prime Minister of Pacitalia should choose the United Kingdom for his first official trip as Prime Minister.”

The United Kingdom and the Republic of Pacitalia have been enjoying an upswing in their diplomatic relations since the announcement last year by Lord Salisbury that the UK was applying for membership to the Union of World Powers – a membership that was readily accepted by most member states.

Political analysts in the United Kingdom expect that this growing friendship between two powerful democracies shall only grow in the near future as both prime ministers govern their respective states on platforms slightly to the left of centre. Sir Alan Whittlebey of the Institute for Foreign Relations commented that “it is only natural that the UK and Pacitalia develop a tight friendship as they share many common interests and many common values, and I would expect that the next five years to be of great benefit not only to each of the individual nations but to their alliance as well.” Whittlebey of course referencing the five years remaining on the mandates of both Lord Salisbury and Mr. Sorantanali to govern.

News came today that the new Pacitalian Prime Minister, Constantino Sorantanali, would make the Grand Duchy the second leg of his first foreign trip in office. Mister Sorantanali will visit the United Kingdom of Azazia before he makes his first visit to Hamptonshire as the Pacitalian Head of State.

The Lord Protector's Office issued a short statement from Lord Rosecrans. He said "the Grand Duchy appreciates that Mister Sorantanali wishes to make Hamptonshire one of his first destinations. I [Lord Rosecrans] look forward to addressing pressing issues with the new Prime Minister, specifically monetary policy, once he does come to the Capital Cities."

Senior officials in the Foreign Office maintain that Sorantanali's decision to visit Azazia first does not mark the beginning of a decline in Hampto-Pacitalian relations. They do say, however, that it does highlight that perhaps the current Pacitalian Administration is becoming out of step with current Hamptonian political opinion. A senior aide in the office of the Acting Foreign Minister told the Independent, "there is growing talk in Obsidia that the Pacitalians are taking our relationship for granted or even that they wish to turn back the clock." Officially, however, the Provisional Government remains optimistic.

SUBJECT: Visit to Azazia and Hamptonshire; opinion on 68th Prime Minister of the DCRP

Dear Signore Constantino Sorantanli,

As I have told Dr. Sancatto Serra mere handfuls of hours before your predeccessor's transfer of power, while I was unable to attend your inauguration or send any delegations to attend, I would wish you the best of luck as the sixty-eighth Prime Minister of Pacitalia. And I have kept that promise, Signore Sorantanli, congratulations on earning yet another term for the FPD to remain in power.

I have always believed in tolerance and mutual respect of one another's beliefs. I know that the two of us are opposites on the political spectrum. As I have said on my very first inauguration, regardless of politics and culture, the United Sovereign Nations of Southeast Asia shall cooperate with other governments in keeping the peace and preventing bad from befalling on those who don't deserve it. On the behalf of the people of Southeast Asia, I look forward to increasing ties with the DCRP, and wish nothing but good for the Pacitalian Republic!

Sincerely,
His Leadership,
Prime Minister of the United Sovereign Nations of Southeast Asia

Official Response to Prime Minister Sorantanali

We have long respected Pacitalia as a great and powerful nation, one of significant force, and a possible valuable economic partner to help create mutual growth in Parthia and Pacitalia. As such, I hereby grant a fully welcoming invitation for the Prime Minister to visit me in the Palace of Persepolis, where I grant audiences to all foreign leaders in a style suitable for a Persian monarch. Please, feel welcome to come, simply accept and I shall make necessary preparations for the visit.
