Krieggarten

This is the background of Krieggarten:
Krieggarten is the last holdout of what was formerly Prussia. When Chancellor Otto von Bismark facilitated the unification of Germany after the Franco-Prussian war in 1870, Krieggarten applied to be recognized as a separate soveriegn state. It held that as it had once been an electorate during the glory days of the Holy Roman Empire, it had the right to stay separate from the newly formed German nations. Bismark realized that he might need a buffer state between Germany and Austria-Hungary, so he gladly agreed to allow Krieggarten to allow it's soveriegnty, for a time. It was because of this kindness that the new premiership of Krieggarten decided to name their currency after the beloved German chancellor.
Through the years Krieggarten and Germany developed a strong and mutually beneficial friendship, that is, until World War I. Initially Krieggarten supported Germany until it realized that the United States was entering. It soon followed Italy in making peace with the United States. Through the end of World War I, Krieggarten never "officially" fought Germany, it performed a lot of espionage duties that the Allied powers desperately needed. It was the Krieggarten spies' information that allowed for the Allies to capture Berlin in September of 1920.
Because of their stellar performance (and the fact their nation was virtually untouched) Krieggarten soon grew into the economic, political, and military superpower of Europe. Although Krieggarten didn't have as large a population as other larger states, its dedication to God and perfection allowed it to develop the best disciplined and trained army in Europe. Its army fought with new tactics usually involving quiet assassinations. Shrewd alliances with other nations allowed it to become the most trusted natoin in Europe during the 1920s. Nations soon starting depositing all of their assets into Krieggarten's banks. Unbeknownst to the other European nations, Krieggarten also developed nuclear power and warp capability well before 1950.
The government of Krieggarten soon realized that everybody hates a superpower. They soon developed a policy of silently taking over a nation by A) freezing its assets, B) quickly and quietly taking over all forms of the country's media, and C) effectively neutralizing the nation's army, either through bribes or tactical bomb strikes under the cover of darkness. After taking over the nation, they would convincingly put the country under new indigenous leadership while silently pulling the strings. The best example of this is the USSR. The USSR, not realizing Krieggarten's power, threatened it with military action. Krieggarten acted quickly. Within a week the goverment had frozen all Soviet assets in the banks, sent the special forces in to take over all the media, and opened the gold mines to the sorely fatigued Soviet military. Krieggarten's chief of staff silently sent Lenin to Ukraine and installed Stalin in office. All the while Soviet media was informing the world that Lenin was dead. When Lenin made a bid for power in the 1930s, Krieggarten had Stalin remove him. Unfortunately, Stalin had long hated Ukraineans and decided to kill 9,999,999 more of them. For this he was also removed from power shortly before the outbreak of World War II.
In the 2000s, Krieggarten is silently in control of the United States, Russia, and China plus a plethora of other nations. It has a great respect for Germany, and so it still allows Germany to keep her sovereignty. Currently Krieggarten, under the headship of her new chancellor - Hans Gutenessen - is quietly adding the latest developments to her military. This includes her new starship program. Krieggarten can now launch starships to any location in the Milky Way. It is searching for alien life, because, above all else, Krieggarten thirsts for new technology so it can remain quietly in control of 3/4s of the world (and 1/4 of the galaxy).
