Light tank design contest
After several months of Discussion, Willink has decided to replace it's 14,000 Stingray Mk.1 light tanks (http://www.army-technology.com/contractor_images/textron/image-4.jpg)with a new design. An idiginous project was first envisoned, but this was scrapped as The military whishes to choose a project from outside nations. The winning contract/contractor shall recive a payment of 6.8 billion USD following its delivery of the first prototype. The Basic requirements are as follows:
A 105mm gun
Armor on lines of Chobham

If you are willing to wait a bit, Kriegzimmer can introduce it's own light tank, which would also be a replacement to the Wolverine.

Pending official clearance by the Imperial Praetonian Ordnance, the Portland Iron Works wish to set forth our joint design (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=451557) for a light tank that we believe fits most of your requirements except for the small staffing requirement. The three crew complement of the Regus still is a noticeable reduction from the four members of a Z-34 Bonham MBT.
To: The Macabees: Yes, the MAPAR board is willing to wait
To: Portland iron works/Sarz
You design is current under review, and MAPAR has the following questions:
Would it be able to change certain properties, the following to be exact:
1. Replace Non-explosive ERA outer armor with Lightweight Uranium-Hardened Aluminum/plastic armor
2. Fitting of 20mm turret, replacing gunner postion
3. Fitting of Willink Electronics, and replacement of several sensors
4. Fitting of Willink Engine
OOC: Is this open to FT tank designs?
OOC- No, only MT and slight PMT

Nineveh Armoured Works would like to present to you two designs for your consideration.
First is the ELDC-25E Export Edition Light Tank.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/Dostanuot/Army/ELDC-25.jpg
The ELDC-25 is the latest light tank incorporated into the Sumerian Republican Gaurd Airborne forces as the standard air-drop light tank. It features advanced Composite-Ceramic armour and an advanced autoloader based on that of the MCA-6 MBT.
The Export model can be fitted with either the standard Sumerian 75mm Hyper Velocity gun, or a more conventional 105mm Rifled gun, as well as either a 12.7mm, 15mm or 20mm Anti-Aircraft gun on a remotly controled mount just behind the Commanders coupola.
The ELDC-25 is fully NBC capable, including EMP hardening and NBC Overpressure Environmental system as standard.
Length: 6.5m
Height: 2.5m
Width: 3m
Mass: 24 tonnes
Top Speed (Road): 70km/h
Crew: 3
Armament: 1x 105mm Rifled, 1x 7.62mm Co-axial MG, 1x 20mm RC Anti-Air
Powerplant: 8-Cylinder Turbocharged/Supercharged Diesel (910 bhp)
Range: 500km
Price: Negotiable
And for the budget weary, we can provide the ELDC-19E Light Tank, currently removed from Sumerian service, at a much lower cost then would be required to produce the ELDC-25.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/Dostanuot/Army/ELDC19R_Light_Tank1.jpg
The ELDC-19 shares many of the same features as the ELDC-25, but in a much lower and lighter package. Unfortunatly, due to space constraints, a 105mm bore gun and 20mm turret are unlikely to be fitted. The base vehicles can, however, be sold at a low price for your own modification as you se fit.
Length: 9.2m (Gun Forward)
Height: 2.5m
Width: 2.7m
Mass: 20.2 tonnes
Top Speed (Road): 70km/h
Crew: 3
Armament: 1x 75mm Hyper Velocity Smoothbore, 1x 7.62mm Co-axial MG
Powerplant: 12-Cylinder Turbocharged/Supercharged Diesel (1250 bhp)
Armor: Laminated Composite-Ceramic
Range: 450km
Price: $820,000 Per Unit (As is)

[OOC: The design is almost ready; it has been released on the Draftroom, and is pending peer review.]
Assault Armored Vehicle (Tempest)
Height; 2.7 meters
Length; 6.1 meters
Width; 3.5 meters
Weight; 28 Tonnes
Armament;1x 105mm Main gun, 1x coaxial mounted 15.5mm machine gun, 2x 75mm mortars, 2x ATGM 6x 40mm single grenade deployers (smoke, chaff, flare fragmentation), OCSW mountable, 20mm ‘hatch’ MG (Controlled by remote)
Armor Scheme: The Tempest is equipped with a revolutionary armor system, an aluminum alloy frame supporting a nano-carbon inner skin; additional layers are tungsten alloys, honeycomb carbon composites, a thixtropic layer that effectively reduces the threat posed by HESH rounds, and two layers of mono-crystalline Aluminum alloy plates.
Engine: Hydrogen Electric for high fuel availability (incorporated electrolyzer) and hydrogen ‘starter’ tanks), mobility and low heat signature (can use hybrid diesel electric)
Speed; 55 mph (road)
7.4 knots (swim)
Crew; 2
Price; 2,500,000
Deployment; The Tempest is meant for mobile support of amphibious and airborne attacks and assaults while sustaining fire, heavily armored, amphibious
The Tempest is a highly mobile solution to armor support, utilizing the latest in automation, fiber optics and digital control systems, the Tempest is the first ‘drive by light’ armored vehicle. The vehicles two crew, gunner and driver, sit side by side in fully integrated command and control environments similar to a fighter aircrafts cockpit. These ‘cockpits’ contain two stick controls, the driver’s controls operate the sight and the vehicle movement and the gunner’s sticks controls the gunner’s sight and the turret. In the event of an emergency, either crewmember can slave the other crewmember’s controls to theirs. Because of the compact crew space, the AAV has one of the highest armor values per volume of all armored vehicles, with an equivalent armor scheme to most MBTs while only the size of a small IFV. The position of the crew section, the Tempest has an extreme armor slope that maximizes the effectiveness of the armor and minimizes profile. The multiple small hydrogen ‘stacks’ are incorporated into the frame of the vehicle to increase armor protection and create a power plant redundancy, several of the stacks can be penetrated or otherwise destroyed and the vehicle can continue functioning, at least enough to exit the combat zone (if a hybrid diesel electric drive is used, the space saved from eliminating the electrolyzer, starter tanks and fuel cell stacks is used for the engine, in this configuration the engine is forward of the crew section to provide additional front protection)

And without further adeu, Kriegzimmer would like to introduce its brand new Arca. II Ashurbanipal Light Battle Tank, which although in some aspects different from your prerequisites, perfectly alterable upon order. Meaning, one of the machineguns can be automated and rearranged as to be placed on top of the turret, and although the crew is three, we firmly believe that a tank with a crew of three will have much more success on the battlefield than a tank with a crew of two - since, in the end, neither the commander, gunner, nor the driver, can be realistically automated, without truly hampering the abilities of the tank. The full tank can be seen in our brochure, here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10343747&postcount=1106). Thank you for your time, and Kriegzimmer awaits your final decision.

To: MAPAR, Willink
We're glad that the Arca. II was an attractive choice, and that it passed through the rigours of what is Willink requirement for a serviceable instrument of war in its military. Kriegzimmer is sure that the Ashurbanipal, regardless of the name that is given to it in your service, will do you wonderfully, and with that said, the order has been confirmed. The two thousand five hundred tanks will be produced exclusively for Willink at a rate of three hundred a month, because since it is a knew product our manufacturing has not been able to be nudged into full gear; thus meaning that the entire order will be completed within eight months. Again, we reassure you that they will provide a wonderful service, and if you think there is anything in which it can be improved we would be glad to here it!
