Only 50 years previously the Empire of Kirisubo had launched probes looking for a planet they could live on but wasn't a lifetime journey from Earth.

Eventually a probe located a planet outside the Sol system that could support life. The early ships launched by the Empire were crude and lacked FTL drive but over time a colony was established despite the many difficulties.

With the invention of warp drive exploration outside their system was now possible and the Dominion of New Kirisubo seized the opportunity.

Back in The Kirisuban Space Service HQ Admiral Nakamura Toshiro met with the three female ships captains who were after the honour of the first Kirisuban Starship.

Being the only man in the room made Toshiro nervous but he didn't let it show.

"Ladies, what we have is the NKS Surabachi. When constructed she'll be capabile for a warp 4 cruise and will be armed with plasma torpedos initially.

She may not look much but she's a tough ship where it counts"

He shows them a drawing of the ship which looks like a round plate with two warp nacales on top of the saucer section near the back of the ship and two on the swept back wings.

"She can hold 40 crew and has the latest computer technology. Our scientists feel that her armour will be thick enough to deflect most weapons that she's theoretically have to deal with.

Two off you will look after her and one of you will be promoted to Commadore"

he lets this sink in and fields some rather searching questions..

ooc: The NKS Surabachi will have some of the features off the USS Defiant and the wings off an early Romulan warbird. Theres no shields and the engines can only provide limited power hence the need for 4 nacales.

Two years later

Commadore Yoshimitsu Kaede and Captain Hatamoto Ai board the now launched NKS Surabachi by one of their pair of shuttlecraft.

Both women had gone over the specs and were glad that the number of torpedo tubes had been increased to 4 ports on the stern and 4 on the bow of the exploration ship. An experimental plasma cannon had also been installed on the bow.

"Officer on the deck" a female officer calls out as they emerge from the shuttlecraft.

the rest of the 38 crew were gathered in the shuttle bay waiting to get underway.

Soon the Surabachi glided gracefully out of the space dock that had been hollowed out off an asteroid and began her shakedown cruise hitting warp one and leaving her home system.

ooc: This takes place a generation before the 'Kagemon' class vessels get launched hence it being NFT.

From the asteroid starbase Admiral Nakamura watched the Surabachi make its first warp jump.

He hoped that soon they would have word back soon.

Commadore Yoshimitsu gripped the arms of her command chair as the ship shook as it traveled at warp 2.

"It wasn't like this in the simulations" she says to her XO Captain Hatamoto.

the order is given to drop out of warp and the two women ponder the problem in the ready room.

While the commander speaks with the chief engineer, Ai Hatamoto heads back to the bridge as a pair of engineers repair the damage the consoles took.

She shakes her head as she wonders if they are even ready for a shakedown cruise. At least the impulse drive was functioning as it should.

"Helm, find us some rocks to shoot up" she orders and the female pilot charts a course to a nearby asteroid belt which is ideal for testing their weapon systems"

The officer says "we'll be there in 4 hours" to the XO and Ai sits in the command chair accepting they'll have to do without the FTL drive for now.

Slowly orbiting the second planet, one of the four remaining Spinner colony ships picked up the new arrivals blip on its sensor suite.
Moving slowly as such ships often do at first, it headed towards the second asteroid belt of the system, abruptly halting some ten miles from the smaller ship.

This is CM-2 of the Clans of the Seven Spin, please state your buisness and identify yourself. Do you require assistance of some kind? Sensors indicate a sudden drop from super-light speeds, this may have caused extreme stress to your ship...Regardless, we will escort you to the second planet of this system unless you plan to leave immidiatly.

listening to the transmission Ai speaks to her comms officer "send this to the alien vessel, voice only"

she pauses and says "This is Captain Hatamoto from the NKS Surabachi. We are on our shakedown cruise and were conducting tests of our FTL drive.

We hope to have our repairs completed soon and look forward to meeting you in person. If you can give us the co-ordinates we can follow you to the second planet"

Possibly...I suggest caution, the ship may be armed beyond what we can handle, even with the remaining colony ships.
Indeed...bring them in, but be careful.
Indeed. Perhaps they have something of some use to us.

After a pause, the Seven Spin ship turned and began broadcasting again,
Very good Captainhatamoto of NKS Surabachi, please follow our ship, the trip is not long. There is another asteroid belt between us and the central planet, we suggest placing what shields you have on high as the belt is very dense, but composed cheifly of smaller debries. A trip around it will take several hours if you feel your ship is not capable of passing the belt.
The ship began to accelerate away, very slowly.

"we'll follow you in. We can handle an asteroid field" Ai replies and cuts the transmission.

"helm, follow their course and speed. This will be a good test off our armour plating" she orders.

the Surabachi responds smoothly to the controls and Ai goes to the Commadore explaining whats happening.

"maybe they can help us with our FTL drive" Kaede says and gets back to her meeting with the chief engineer.

Arrival at Pax II was not a complex procedure, the planet was, at least from space, totaly blank, with no signs of habitation except the two stations in orbit. Of course many planets have no sign of habitation form orbit, but that doesnt mean there is nobody on them.
Regardless, the Kirisubian ship was ushered into a docking bay within the main hold of the shipyard that was the systems primary feature at the present time.

Welcome to Pax II, Surabachi. This is station management, if you wish to conduct discussions, please send a party aboard station. A repair team is on its way to assist you with the repair of your vessel. Your species prefers a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere, correct?

The Surabachi received a few hits on the way in but the armour plating held.

While the Commadore remained on board to assist with the repairs, Ai accepted the invitation to come aboard the station along with a female security officer.

"we do prefer an nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere" Ai confirms over the comms channel. "I'll be coming aboard with another crew member. the assistance of one of the your engineers would be helpful"

Ai and her security officer armed only with a holstered 9mm automatic pistol went to the airlock and waited for the reception committee from the station and the stations engineer.

ooc: the Kirisubans are asian humans and 2/3rds of the crew are female. They both wear the same uniform, black trousers and a dark red wrap over jacket. Ai wears a silver badge made up off two crossed katanas and 3 rank pips above it.

The security officer wears a single short sword badge and a single dark pip on her uniform

they're both small women and lighty built. Ai keeps her hair long, has blue grey eyes and is quite good looking. The officer wears short hair and has the classic dark eyes. She in her early 20's.

I dont think my crew will notice...most humans look the same to them and gender is an entirly new concept :P)

The two women were met at the airlock by a small group of floating ovoids covered with assorted impliments, these moved jerkily through the air and buzzed loudly. The arrival of the two Kirisubians caused them to almost immidiatly stop moving and focus on the new arrivals, the buzzing stopped as well.
After a moments pause a slightly larger version of the ovoids appeared around the corner and floated up to face-level for Ai, where it performed a complicated series of manuvers that brought its main 'eye' up to face the female, words flahsed across the surface.
Permission to come aboard? We Ixi work crew for repairs, pleased to meet, eager to work, may we begin now?

"Permission granted Ixi san" Ai replies and gets her comunicator out a jacket pocket.

She speaks in Kirisuban to the Chief Engineer who accepts the order.

"my Chief Engineer is on her way to meet you" she says to the larger ovoid "Yukiko will be able to show you round our engine room"

Two minutes later another small women appears at the airlock and bows saying "my name is Yukiko Abe and I'll be your guide"

Most of the Ixi vanished almost instantly when the conversation concluded, occasionaly ricocheting off a wall or other surface. The larger version remained still only long enough to flash 'Thank you' before vanshing as well.
By this time a new figure was occupying the other side of the airlock. A short (roughly three foot) figure with an outsized avian head, a vaugly human body and four fingered hands. This one had a slow, somewhat stiff voice, like it was trying to hide some emotion.
"Hello. I am M-322-55217, please forgive the Ixi. They are...overeager and enjoy what they do, perhaps too much. Follow me."
The creature executed a 180 degree turn without apparently moving and set off down the hall, making a point of not looking back.

Ai follows the humanoid and was slightly surprised to see anyone smaller than herself. only 5 foot tall herself it was a good thing that the Kirisuban space service didn't have a minimum height requirement.

Yukiko heads back to the engine room to check on the Ixi's progress.

After several minutes of plodding, the group came to an apparently random door, which did not show any noticable change from the other hundred or so doors the group had seen.
"Enter, Sotha Sil will see you."

Sotha Sil was not, in fact, present on the station. The sheer mass of the assorted machinery that composed his body would have required some heavily reinforced flooring and the station would have been at least twice the size that it was.
However, a fairly good 1/4 scale hologram did manage to occupy a small cargo bay (fitted with seats and other facilities designed with humans in mind) quite well. It was similar to the other Spinners, a huge brass analog computer, gears and switches plainly visible over most of its surface.
"Greetings, firstly, allow me to apologize for the...decor. We do not have any official meeting rooms on the station and this is the best we could do on short notice. I have been informed that you are an explorer party?"

Ai and her guard bow and Ai says "honourable Sotha Sil, we are explorers. I am Captain Ai Hatamoto and my vessel, the NKS Surabachi is my planets first attempt at deep space exploration. New Kirisubo is isn't that far from here.

My vessel is also our first equipped with FTL drive although we have had impulse powered ships for a long time"

"Yes, I have heard. Is your vessel damaged in some way? The Ixi report that nothing important is wrong with your vessel, although they do say that your humidity is too high."

Ari smiles and says "that is good news. our FTL drive has been giving us some teething problems but I'm sure the Ixi and our Chief Engineer managed to solve them together.

Regarding the humidity we're always having to adjust it.

Yukiko works closely with the Ixi who help her balance out the matter and antimatter settings.

soon a stable warp field is generated and Commadore Yoshimitsu is pleased knowing they'll be able to carry on their mission.
