FOREIGN MILITARY INCURSION
INTO PIJOONIAN WATERS

(File Photo)

The Pijoon Military Force Navy has confirmed that one foreign military submarine entered Pijoonian waters. There is little information on the incident but reports say that the navy ship PDS Iris engaged the submarine. It is not known at this time if the shots were aimed at the foreign vessel or if the PDS Iris was fired upon.

Reports state that the PDS Yorken and the PDS Georgain went to the area in response to the incursion. It is not known at this time who's submarine this was. It is expected that both the Military Force and the Defence Force will be on high alert for the foreseeable future.

More on this story when it comes available...

Chaotikopolis, Chaotium

King Chaotik II is in conversation with his Prime Minister, Jonathan Avegh.

"So it can't be one of ours, then?"

"No, sir. We'd have noticed if there was one missing."

"How far away from us is this Pijoon nation located?"

"Not TOO far, sir, if I am correct."

"Hmm, right...I want you to do the following..."

Message from Chaotium to Pijoon

It has come to our attention that a hostile submarine has recently entered your waters. We first wish to make sure that this is definitely not a Chaotian vessel. In the case of further conflicts, we also offer you the assistance of our humble defence forces. Just send the word.

To Chaotium,

The class and origin of the vessel is unknown. It was submerged at the time of contact. The PDS Iris attempted to force the vessel to surface, to now avail. We have mobilized our air force and are doing routine air RECCE over our coast and islands. The incident took place of our Provence of Jeric, our island Provence.

We have a fleet of 6 ASW ships patrolling that region, we would welcome any naval support you can offer.

Thank you,

Minister of National Defence, Richard Sandrilay
Prime Minister, Sean McKee

VLS "Lago Maggiore" (U-347), Out of Pijoon waters

The elegant shapes of the U-212-Class Diesel-Electric attack submarine moved through the water, stealthily. Thanks to a small navigational mistake made by their navigator, they had arrived at this position. Luckily, when the order came in to assist Pijoon forces to find a possible hostile submarine, they already were in vicinity of the Pijoon nationa waters, meaning that they were able to assist immediately. Another submarine, U-129 VLS "Sarnersee", a Seawolf-class Nuclear Attack Submarine already was on it's way, and could join the search in a few days. Now, they would need to assist the Pijoon forces on their own.

"Empty the tanks! Surface the boat!"
"Empty the tanks, Surface the boat, Aye, Sir!"

A high whistle announced that the submarine was busy surfacing, and came was on the surface moments later. Quickly, Captain Hingelmann and his watchcrew moved up, to check the area.

Van Luxemburgian Communique, Corps Diplomatique Van Luxemburgeoise

We are shocked by this rude touch of national waters, and we'll condemn this provocation, made by the (yet) unknown submarine. We therefore have took the liberty to send two of our submarines, names follow.

U-347 "Lago Maggiore", U-212-Class Diesel-Electric submarine.
U-129 "Sarnersee", Seawolf-Class Nuclear Attack Submarine.

The U-347 can assist immediately, while the U-129 is on it's way to assist. We hope that these can fulfill your needs.

Message To the Pijoon Government

Your message is recieved. Three anti-submarine ships: The HMS King Bob's Mother , the HMS Cynagca , and the HMS Valkur are on their way and should arrive in due time.

The High Seas, Aboard the HMS Valkur

Captain 1st Class Verash looked out over the open blue ocean with something resembling a smile on his face. As Chaotium had been an isolationist nation until very recently, its navy had served mostly to escort foreign vessels out of its territorial waters. This meant that the navy was the country's foremost defence, but ever since the Chaotik dynasty came into democratically elected power there had not been much need, and defence in general was rather neglected. It was good to be out again, the captain mused. He just hoped that when it came to it, everything on the ships would function the way it was intended.

The ship sailed through the tropical waters around Helli Island, the water was warm. Salt spray passed up on the observation deck of the PDS Iris as the captain looked out over the ocean. The Ships second in command walked out behind the captain.

“Sir, we haven't found the intruder yet, the Yorken and the Georgian both confirm zero presence in this sector,” said the Commander.

“Well commander, the submarine is probable out of here by now. How many allied vessels are in the area?” asked the captain.

“We have ships from both Van Luxemburgian and Chaotium, sir,” replied the commander.

An alarm sounded from with in the bridge.

“SIR!!!! FISH IN THE WATER!” yelled a Sub-Lieutenant.

The Captain ran back into the bridge, “Launch countermeasures, turn the bow into the torpedoes. How many fish are there Sub-Lieutenant?”

“FOUR! Countermeasures launched” he replied.

All four torpedoes missed the PDS Iris.

“Find were they were shot from,” said the Captain. “Radio all ships in the region to be on high alert.”

On the HMS Valkur

Aboard the HMS Valkur, a lieutenant runs up to captain Verash.

"Sir! We've recieved a transmission from our allies. They've been attacked, but no damage suffered."

"Activate the sonar and make for our allies' position at half speed. Tell the men to be on alert."

"Yes, sir!" The lieutenant runs off again, shouting orders at nearby sailors as he does so. The squadron turns and begins to course to the place where the Pijoon ships were attacked.

IC:"No hits, sir. Too much chaff."
"Damn. Take us to two hundred metres, we'll play it by ear until the fuss dies down."
"Aye," the lieutenant turned to the rest of the bridge, "Flood ballast. Take us to two hundred metres."
The boat was in these waters as an aggravator, mainly, too draw international attention away from the fighting in Civeria, as there were many self-proclaimed "Comie-crushers" in the world, and if one thing would aggravate them more than semi-facists funding communists, it was an armed "pirate" sub displaying a red star. So the Captain's orders for the mission were "Cause panic, sink something, act like a pirate, and Don't get caught!". It was a mean scheme, but that was Boozia, and, to quote General Jalfainer "It's no more bastardly than pearl harbour, Vietnam, or the Iran-Contra scandal".

So here was Commander Breuning, sneaking around, looking for piratical activities. If he could risk surfacing soon, he might be sent the plans for any liners he could loot. Until then, he would try and catch a small ship alone, Point-Blank. Half of chaff was nullifyed if you just had to shoot straight ahead.

SSN-322 "HMSu Repulse", International Waters
The Resolution (http://s13.invisionfree.com/The_NS_Draftroom/index.php?showtopic=333) class submarine, SSN-322, sat silently in the ocean. She had been patrolling these waters for at least seven days, and unless any disturbancies had been found, she was to report back to the closest base. Captain Tarrif was about to order to return to base, when his communications officer picked something up.

"Captain, incoming diplomatic message."

Tarrif nodded and replied "Very well Ensign, lets see it."

Several seconds later the message came through and Tarrif quickly formulated his own ideas. Waving to his XO, a Lieutenant Thompson, he passed her the form.

"Whats up now? Can't we go home? All this sitting around doing nothing is getting tiring." she yawned and sat up to look at the form. "Oh. Detect and Interfere Order? I suppose.. wait, what are we hunting?" she looked back up at the Captain, swiftly moving a strand of hair out of her eyes. Questaria was one of the only nations in the world to allow females to serve in the submarine forces. "Um.. a submarine of some kind. No specification."

Thompson coughed and groaned. "Oh, alright then. If we must." she signed the form (most intervening orders from any vessel in the QRN must be documented and, if the nation is not at war, both XO and CO must agree.) and handed it back to the Captain. Fitting her officers cap, she stood up and took her place at the bridge.

"Captain Tarrif to all crew, attend your stations please. Repeat, this is not a drill, we are entering a hostile situation. Be alert at all times. Captain out."

"Sir" Thompson asked. "Are we not going to identify ourselves to the local defence forces?"

As per every Questarian naval commander, Tarrif reeked of arrogance. "No, I don't think so Lieutenant. We have our IFF tags, if they fire on us without asking for identification we will return fire."

"Sir, I don't think that-"

"Lieutenant?" Tarrif asked, disgruntled.

"Yessir?"

"Shutup."

The HMSu Repulse swung around into Pijoon waters, dived to 350 metres, and began to move at the steady speed of 28 knots.

The hunt was on.

"Permission granted. Try and ask command for the local shipping plans."
The Schmaldt surfaced gently, and began transmitting on the radio. Risky but worth it. Meanwhile, air was pumped into the tanks. After the plans were recieved, she submerged again.
"Lieutenant, after we get this merchant, we will go after the enemy missile submarine, try and catch it as it enters the ocean borders [not Quester's]. We can eliminate an important spotter without excessive danger to ourselves.

Radios are loud. In fact, they are pretty loud. And when a ship surfaces and uses its radio, thats loud too. Loud enough, in fact, for the extremely sensitive (read: expensive) detection systems of the Repulse to hear it.

"Sir!" The Ensign cried, picking up the signals from the Boozian submarine.

"What is it?" Captain Tarrif asked.

"Enemy submarine, distance 24 miles.. she surface sir, sent off a radio singal, and now she's submerged."

"Oh." Tarrif smirked. Thompson rolled her eyes - she knew what he would say already. "Well then, bring us about on his tail, bring our speed to his, and cut everything we don't need. And I mean everything. Oh yeah, and arm torpedo tubes A and B. 7-11s, if you don't mind."

The Ensign muttered something about overworking, and went to business to accomplish the orders. Soon the Repulse was tailing the Boozian submarine at a distance of 39 miles, its RADAR, LADAR, missile systems, communications, and other vital systems (except the outer sonar array, obviously) shut down.

Music played in the back ground as Captain Holders stood on the dock. His men stood in a row on the deck of his boat.

The captain addressed his men. “Men and women of the Pijoon Navy, we have the distinguished honour of crewing the first submarine. This class has proven its self in foreign navies and it will prove it self in our navy. For we are the Military Force, WE ARE THE NAVY!”

Holders walked up the plank and proceeded to enter his boat. He climbed down a hatch on the deck. Soon after the crew followed. The boat was manned.

“I'm going up the mast,” Holders said as he headed to the ladder that led to the top of the sail.

The captain stood on the top of the mast, looking out over the bay. He yelled down the hatch, “Ok Sub-Lieutenant take us out.”

The propeller started turning as the ship sailed out of the dock to the tune of the Pijoon National Anthem.

The second in command climbed up the ladder to were the captain was standing, “Sir so are we to commence trials?”

“No, we have new orders. You know that incursion into our territory?” asked the captain.

“Yes sir,” replied the Lieutenant-Commander.

“Our new orders are to commence full military operation and hunt down the S.O.B. that attacked the Iris,” the captain said.

“Sir? The Iris was attacked?” asked the commander.

“Yes, yesterday the Iris was fired upon by the enemy submarine.” replied the captain. “Now, Lieutenant-Commander take us to the province of Jeric and begin active combat search.”

A single Murmansk class attack submarine was in the area of operations, deep underneath the water. At 560 meters, it was still within the operational limit of its hull, but just barely. The yards had guaranteed that it would be able to go to 600 meters, but not much more than that. The pressure was simply too great. Nevertheless, it cruised this deep. It was good in several ways.

For starters, it allowed the sub to move along with absolutely zero cavitation in the water, something which caused noise, something subs hated as it signalled that they were there and gave enemies a target. Secondly, it kept the sub hidden from prying eyes and sonar. The latter was partially thanks to the closed cooling circulation to the pebblebed nuclear reactor on the Murmansk, which could propell the sub to a maximum speed of 40 knots and a tactical silent speed of 25 knots, and to the experimental foam between the inner and outer hull, which was coated in sound-absorbing material, of the sub. This further helped decrease the reactor sounds of the sub, which were minimal anyhow since the sub didn't rely on taking in water to cool the reactor. Essensially, it was a black hole in the water, undetectable from passive sonar and more difficult to detect using active sonar. If it was some distance away from the active sonar, there was a good chance that it would remain undetected. It was by far the most silent submarine in the arsenal of the Empire of Cotland, and a deadly weapon.

The weaponry consisted of six 533mm internal torpedo tubes and four external torpedo tubes of the same diameter. This along with the twelve vertical launch cells allowed it to carry a lot of weapons. The loadout of this sub was for a total of 24 Mark-60 Mod 1 Sjøorm heavy-weight torpedoes, the replacement for the venerable Mark-48 Mod 8 ADCAP, 8 Mark-50 Mod 2 Barracuda light-weight ASW torpedoes, 18 UGM-84L Harpoons, 11 UGM-203A Imsdal cruise missiles equipped with a 544kg warhead for both land and sea targets and 1 UGM-203E Imsdal cruise missile armed with an EMP warhead. All in all, a powerful loadout.

Sadly, that powerful loadout was in the hands of Captain Kjetil Rekdal, a officer in the Imperial Cottish Navy who had a record of bending the rules to the extreme. He had recieved orders to monitor the situation and fire only if fired upon, but no regulations as to where he could sail. As a result, and since he knew that the Empire would never acknowledge the existance of the Murmansk class, the sub was now well within Pijoonian territorial waters and in danger of being attacked. That was, if they could find it! For now, Rekdal would wait and observe. For now...

"Captian! Captain!" screamed the Osylak's radio operator.
"Yes?" Yuri asked over his cup of hard cider.
"The Radio is back on line, it appears there has been an unknown sub in the area, the reports I am getting are that it is a pirate."
"Great Hoptuk! Tell Seils and Gorbarov to take up watch" Yuri ordered and saw the operator run out the door. Yuri could not help but remember that his ship was loaded down in torpedos. If hit, the ship would have a massive explosion. He also worried that his borther's ship had been carring similiar cargo and was plundered by pirates, who took half of the tropedos and left a bullet in his brother's head. He grabbed his .45 magnum he was given as a gift and began to load it...

"Captain! Sonar pinging neutral vessel, 93 miles and closing. She's a cargo holder sir, of what type we are not sure."
The ensign reported.

Captain Tarrif quickly ordered the standard Questarian tactic: should the submarine pose a threat to the cargo ship, it would have to be destroyed.

"Ensign, shadow that submarine. If it moves to attack the vessel, notify me at once. Load tubes C through F with the Sub Agins' and get me a firing solution for a pair of missiles on the hostile submarine."

"At once sir!"

The missile tubes were swiftly loaded with the underwater variant of the Royal Navy's "Agincourt" missile, extremely fast, extremely deadly, and extremely loud: not that it mattered. There was no escape from the supercavitating 150km/h Sub-Agincourt, and its warhead, big enough to sink a large destroyer.

The situation just turned extremely hot.

"We've got a merchant, and a vague sound from it's region. Sonar thought it was the filling of torpedo tubes. Fire a snapshot?"

Commander Brunner refused. He couldn't use an accident in which the Mk. 48 homed in on the merchant.

"Negative. Ignore the contact. Merchant's Sierra 239. Silent Dive! Ask the Lago Maggiore to switch to her Electrics. Our engines switch to silent running. Try to send a warning to the merchant."

The OOD used the main communication equipment to send the message to all positions, and then began it's transmission to the merchant. It would be loaded on a buoy, and fired to send from the surface.

At some distance, the U-212-Class followed. It had no problems following the Seawolf, and it's commander had ordered to track every ship in the area. he had been delivered a small note, which showed all ships in the area.

"Vague sounds, could be whales, aswell as a merchant and a few Pijoon ships. OOD! Get me a direct uplink together with Chateau Vianden and the Sarnersee!"

A few moments later, the uplink with the ships and the IVD HQ had been established.

"Okay, what we've got, is a bunch of naval vessels from a multinational force wandering around in these waters. We've got a Merchant aswell. The Sarnersee has loaded three weapons and is ready for engagement. We, the Lago Maggiore, are running low on Diesel. We need to get some fuel, or we can't take part in the action."

A voice on the other side began to speak. It was the IVD.
"We'll ask the Marine to send a small taskforce. expect them to be in the area in some days. CV-21 Meiringen should be in the vicinity. You know what that means."

"A bunch of aircraft that can be of use, but also a damned flammable replenishment, at least, if they're included."

He paused. Then, from out of nothing, Commander Brunner of the Sarnersee spoke.

"Yes. When's the ETA of their first units?" He asked, interested. It could come in handy, but also mean a large brick on your leg. The naval presence could alarm the submarine they were hunting for, and let it vanish off the map.
"ETA for the first aircraft, probably an E-2 Greyhound, will be 24 hours. They can't do anything with that, however. An NH-90 could take 60 hours. However, if we fly in a Breguet, we can aid you with ASW in some... 36 hours, probably."

"Well, that sounds nice. Thanks. I'll see you around."

The IVD was however quick with their response, before the OOD had the chance to sign off, and the crews could get back to work.

"Hold on. Lethal force is authorised now, but you'll need to send a warning to the merchant."
"Already done. We hope they recieved it."
"Check."

A loud crackle announced that the line had been broken, and the two subs were alone, left in the sea.

"Fire the missiles, Ensign. Tubes C through D." he answered, determined to save the cargo ship.

"Aye sir!"

"After that, fullfill Emergency Surfacing Order. Get us to the top, and to that cargo vessel, immediately."

OOC:Van Lux, no one mentioned this coordination, and it by definition has to have been confirmed by everyone. Cotland, and to a lesser extent, Questers, both stated clearly the semi-illegitimacy of there actions and the danger of mistaken identity. Also, if you were in range to detect a blacked out sub by the torpedo loading, you would definately have been picked up by me and Questers, and we would have factored you into our respective plans. Because of all this, I am not going to post IC right now, and I would advise others not to until we sort this out, for continuities sake. I once joined an RP where one major power magically vanished. Consider all the above void, as everything between here and "Read my last OOC" was posted as I typed. This remains a handy summary of complaints though. OOC:I don't think wer'e thinking on the same scale. I meant tactical (eg:there are two subs in sonar range, what do you do) rather than strategic (eg: you are being hunted by a naval task force, where do you go) plans. I really want to salvage this, everyone (with the possible exception of Mationbuds) has been rping brilliantly up to this dispute. You could just change the sonar pickup to any random blip (not torps) and leave a fully fine post. All the actions, (warning the merchant, summoning support, checking with command) would still make sense, and we could drop this

OOC: Well, I have updated my post for the last time. My men have seen the "random blips" as sealife (mostly whales) and have ignored them. VL won't do much, only when they pick up the firing of Torpedo's that could be of importance.

"Conn, sonar. New contact, very faint. Possibly a submerged sub sir. Designating new contact Master twenty-two." The non-commissioned officer in the sonar room had picked up what seemed to be a sub. Wait! There was another blip on his "waterfall" sonar screen. Another sub. "Conn, sonar. Another contact sir, right next to Master twenty-two. Again, it seems to be a possible submarine. Designating new contact Master twenty-three."

Captain Rekdal looked around the conn, or command center on his Murmansk class hunter/killer submarine. He had been inoperable for far too long.

"Sonar, conn. Distance to new contacts?"

"Estimating fourty thousand meters sir, bearing zero-five-five. The signal is very faint."

Fourty thousand meters. Well within range of the Sjøorms his sub carried. Still, he didn't want to blow his cover, at least not yet. He still had orders to stay undetected, not that he cared too much about his orders. He rose from his seat and stood in the middle of the conn, looking around. Everyone was on their stations, doing their jobs, protecting the Empire.

"Helmsman, take us to new course zero-five-five, all ahead two thirds tactical. Weps, get me a firing sollution," Rekdal said before he returned to his seat and picked up the intercom. "All hands, man battlestations."

Immediately, every man in the 130 strong crew rushed to their battlestations while the sub cruised towards the position of the contacts making 14 knots, still very silent when one considers the maximum tactical silent speed of 25 knots. The crew were well drilled, causing every man to be at his station within the minute. The exact time was 47 seconds, a very good time when one considers that the Murmansk class is 114 meters long and spans over three decks. At exactly 48 seconds after the order to go to battlestations, the sub was yet again quiet as in the grave.

"Sir, all sections report battlestations. We're ready sir."

"Excellent. Helm, how are we coming along?"

"Distance now thirty-two thousand meters. Recommend slowing to ten knots sir."

"Do it. Helm, get me behind them." After a moments thought, he decided to throw his orders to hell. "And when we're behind them, give them one ping. To verify our distance." he added when the weapons officer ("Weps") looked at the Captain with a very unpleased face. He made sure that the torpedo tubes were loaded, in case something bad happened. They were. In the internal tubes, four Mk-68 Sjøorms and two UGM-84L Harpoons sat, waiting, while in the external tubes four Mk-50 Barracudas were ready. The weapons in the external tubes would be the primary weapon to employ in case of hostilities, mainly because all the Weps had to do was to press the fire button. The rest would go automatically.

IC:"Firing solution on M1 locked. One torp. Firing solution on S1 locked. Aft tube. Firing solution on S2 locked. Three torps torps. Firing solution on S3 in progress. Two torps. Countermeausures preped for launch on command."
"Fire on M1 now! Launch countermeasures!"
Schmaldt sparng into action, an expanding cloud of chaff puffing towards Repulse. The torpedo the Boozians had launched to cover the escape, along with one Agincourt, spiralled wildly and vanished down deeper. The other tore forward, vanishing into the secondary chaff. Everyone held their breath on the bridge, watching the little dots. One for them, one for the merchant. Weapons broke the silence.
"S3 locked."
Beuner's plan was simple: if, as was likely, the other Agincourt was still on target, he would empty his tubes on S2 and S3. The more he took with him the bigger the scandal.

"Sir, allied ships are signaling that they have contacts," said the Radio Operator.

"What kind of contacts?" asked the Captain.

"Unknown possible submarine," replied the Radio Operator.

"hmm, were are they?" asked the captain.

"200 klicks out from Niles, sir in standard shipping lane," replied the Radio Operator.

"Radio all ships, Converge on that area. Looks like were going hunting," the captain said with a grin.

Aboard the PDS Underworld.

"SIR!" said Master Seaman Ford.

"What is it?" asked Holders.

"Orders from the Iris, we are to move at best speed to these coordinates," Ford handed the captain a piece of paper. "Looks like they found something."

"Ok," Holders got on the inter com, "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are about to comense dive. Prepare for Dive." Holders handed the microphone to his Commander. "Dive!"

"DIVE! DIVE! DIVE!"

sirens went on with in the boat.

"Sir! Incoming torpedo!"

Although he knew a single torpedo could mean the death of his entire crew, Tarrif stayed calm, confident in the capabilities of his vessel.

"Alright Ensign. Take defensive manevroues and engage countermeasures. Bring us to the surface, open the communications channel, open our IFFs, and fire those two torpedoes we prepped earlier." Tarrif reeled off the set of instructions.

"Aye sir!"

The Repulse swung around and let off a pair of countermeasures, the first overshooting the incoming torpedo, and the more sucessful second wasting its guidance systems. As the Repulse gracefully turned upwards, the dead torpedo flew right past her. In response, the Questarian submarine fired both its 711mm (28") "Catfish" guided torpedoes, flooding her tubes and letting loose. Seconds later, her IFF responders activated, showing her nationality, pennant, and captain.

"Captain, it appears the enemy submarine has also launched a torpedo towards the cargo vessel."

"Then inform them." Captain Tarrif replied.

"This Her Majesty's Submersible Repulse to nearby cargo vessel, you have a hostile submarine on your tail which has launched a torpedo towards your vessel, we suggest you abandon ship."

Almost at the top, the Repulse fired a third Sub-Agincourt, while its crew desperately tried to reload a new pair of torpedoes.

"Sir, I suggest we send out a distress call." Thompson suggested, well knowing that if the Repulse was sunk without destroying the pirate first, the cargo vessel was doomed.

"Pardon?" Tarrif snorted. "I will not allow some pig nosed impersonator to take the glory this ship and its crew rightfully deserve. No."

"With all due respect, Sir." Thompson replied calmly "I did not sign this order for glory. I signed it to save lives."

"It does not matter why you did it, Lieutenant. What matters is that we destroy that submarine. If you make any further assaults on my command, I shall have you removed from the bridge." Tarrif said.

"Sir." Thompson looked into his eyes. "Yes, sir."

Yuri looked over the calm sea, however he knew the trouble that plagued it from beneath. They had recieved a message confirming the pirate sub's existence. He had them running flank speed, but Yuri knew if the pirate took a clear shot they were dead. He had some of the men dumping a quarter of the cargo of torps overboard to make better speed and a smaller explosion. He had sent a message back to his homeland, even though he knew the only chance he had was the submarine thatsent the message, and maybe whatever others were out there.
"Sir, using the old outdated underwater listening gear we picked up at the last port I seem to hear torpedos." A nervous sailor reported.
Even though he had no idea if they were bound for him, the Captain could take no chances.
"Hard to Starboard! Let's zig zag a little til we see if they are coming for us! Tell them to stop dumping the torpedo crago and fill the lifeboats, launch them when they are full, keep me informed!" Captain Yuri then prayed...

OOC: That's a good idea. Forget the whole thing. I will however react to the firing of torpedo's, as They make a hell of a lot more noise then the submarine that fired them. So, to be short: No idea of where the subs are, but a registered fire of torpedo's.

IC:

At the Comm, people were running around to supply different stations with the info they needed, and prepare for the short talk the Commandeur OF-6would give.

And, on his bed, Commandeur Brunner prepared for his talk. They would talk over the situation. The aircraft were still hours ago, but torpedo's had been appearing from out of nowhere. And, with ill-prepared submarines, as this was a first-time encounter with real torpedo's. The U-157 "Milstättersee" had fired a few in a far-away past, but as really the only one. Now, he could be second. He was allowed to fire, and when he had a good target, which was clear on sonar, he thought he would fire. At least, as long as it's behaving aggressive towards the merchant or them. Brunner stood up, and walked towards the Comm. He had to move along several closed doors, and close them again, without making too much noise.

"Commandeur on Comm!" The OOD shouted, indicating Brunner arrived.
All personnel in the room saluted, and Brunner shortly saluted back, and nodded, as a sign they could carry on.
"Ladies and Gentlemen." Brunner looked around, to all men and women that had been in the Comm since his arrival. He then continued.
"We have a few torpedo's fired from unknown positions, but we now know that we're at least not alone anymore. We should load our torpedoes but I suggest we don't. We wait for the Breguet to arrive, aswell as a few NH-90's."
He paused again, and picked up a microphone, laying on his position. It was the communications hub of the submarine, which had to be used by him.
"Sonar? Aircraft capability of a Perpignan-Class CVN?"
It kept silent at the Sonar room, while the men were busy using the internal database to find the requested information.
"Yessir. information requested: 10 Sea Tigers, 12 NH-90, 50 Rafale-M, 13 ASC-7/8 and 1 E-2C Hawkeye. Sea Tigers solely for ASW and Ground-Attack ops, NH-90 can be SAR or ASW, or a transport. other transport capabilities: 15 RIB's. I wouldn't like to drink a cup of tea with that one. Out."
The connection had been broken by the Sonar.
"Yeah, keep that for yourselves." Brunner paused, and then spoke again.
"That's our situation. the Hawkeye can reach us within hours, a Breguet can be here 12 hours later then him. I suggest we surface, and carry Van Luxemburgian flags to indicate our nationality. I wouldn't like an Exocet fired on my ass by that Breguet. The Hawkeye should've reached us by then, but you'll never know. if one of those torpedo's hit the merchant, we need some SAR operations, probably done by the CV-21. When lucky, we can get some vessels out here quicker. the Frigates, can go, out of my head, about 10 knots faster then the CVN. Let's see. an NH-90 can reach us in some 50 hours, or something like that. The first frigate can reach us in 100 hours, about. I'll contact Rotterdam for that. That was all."

Brunner nodded, and the personnel got back to it's work. Dive operations went to surfcae the ship, and the OOD contacted the Lago Maggiore to request them doing the same. They surfaced minutes later, both at the same time.

"Commandeur on Deck!"
The Watch crew saluted, and immediately went back to work, aiming accurate bincoulars on the surrounding seas. suddenly, the voice of the OOD broke the enduring silence. Well, if you ignored the sounds of the sea and the submarine.
"Luyks! Get that flag up!"
"Yessir!" With stunning speed and skill, Matroos der 1ste Klasse (Sailor first-class) Luyks took the flag up on it's pole. It now was waiting for the backup.

CV-21 Meiringen, some 10 hours away

It all had been the fault of the IVD. The stupid intelligence had made a mistake and estimated that they were days away from the sub, but in fact, they had been 10 hours away. All the ships had stayed together, and the E-2C was about to be launched. At a speed of 350 knots, some 11 times faster then the battlegroup, they could be at the submarine's position within the hour. Also, The Breguet had just passed by, while an Airbus A330 MRTT tanker circled overhead, ready to refuel the Breguet when it would need it.
The admiralty in Rotterdam had ordered them to steam up to the submarine at full speed, while remaining out of Pijoon national waters, with exception of aircraft and smaller vessels. The Grand Duke itself had ordered that they were allowed for Lethal Force, and they would do if they needed to do.

(OOC: To sum up my plans, to avoid any other confusion like last time:
The submarine's have surfaced and wait for backup by aircraft and possible ships. The CV group is only 10 hours away, while the submarines still think they're a good 100-200 hours away. the E-2C and the Breguet can arrive at about the same time, while NH-90's can't reach it yet. I'll probably send one or two frigates or destroyers into Pijoon waters, for a SAR operation, together with a cooperated hunt for the pirates. That's all, I think so.)

OOC:To clarify, M1 is the merchant, S1 is the Repulse, S2 is the Seawolf, and S3 is the missile sub.

IC:"More torpedoes. No countermeasures remaining. The second torp crashed though."
"Fire on S2 and 3, whilst bringing us to the surface. Tell the men to get their uniforms off and and look the part of pirates. We will evacuate the boat. I also have something I will need to set in order before I leave." Breuner raised his voice and turned from the lieutenant.
"Helm! Come to new heading on the merchant, prepare for flank speed. Prepare all crew to abbandon boat. Someone destroy the log!"
The idle weapond officer hurried away, as the Scmaldt fired, swung round, and broke the surface. Hatches burst open the second they emerged, the crew hurried out and rafts were inflated. After all but one was gone, the boat suddenly lept forward, speeding towards the merchant, just in case the torpedo failed. Helm emerged onto the deck.
"Captain!"
Down in the engine room, Breuner threw in the last charge, and pocketed a small remote, then dashed to a hatch.
"Captain! Where have you been?"
"No matter."
The two men boarded the last raft, and a sailor kicked them off.

"I'll miss that sub."
"I'll miss my family."
"I'll miss Boozia."
All the little rafts crew looked west and sighed under their breaths.

(OOC: Which missile sub? The VL two submarines are both a Seawolf and an U-212-class.)

Location of the Sarnersee

The submarine had been waiting for their backup, while surfaced, together with her little sister, the Lago Maggiore, when Sonar alarmed Commandeur Brunner.

"Sir, torpedo in the water, bearing 347, heading for us. Speed is high. We think it might have gone active."

A large shock gulfed over the personnel aboard the two subs. The torpedo fired was not expected.

"Load both tubes 3 and 4. Mk. 48's, wireguided and no ceiling. Load Vortexes in tubes 7 and 8. same options. Fire snapshot with tube 3 and 4, reload, keep the Vortex in. Load countermeasures, fire chaff, speed up to flank speed, take heading 347, perform zigzag. let's hope it has a ceiling."

Two Mk. 48 ADCAP torpedo's were launched out of their tubes after the two submarines began to speed up. They then turned around, and headed for the opposite direction the enemy torpedo came from. The two submarines kept surfaced, while maintaining their countermeasures, to be launched at the very last moment.

"Cut wires, let them go active, request communications with the Admiralty. Emergency. Send SOS on standard Van Luxemburgian channel. brace for impact!"

Men were running around on all parts of the vessel, while other were readying the systems and gear for a hasty abandon of the ship. Then, messages from Sonar flooded in.
"Distance to torpedo's closing. Torpedo has found us. Impact in an expected 1 minute."
Brunner reacted by taking all safety precautions, which had been prescribed by the Van Luxemburgian Marine.
"Fire Countermeasures! Prepare for SAR! Ready lifeboats!"
Sonar replied somewhat later with their latest update on the situation.
"Torpedo didn't fall for our CM. She's heading for us, impact in 10..9..8..7..6.."
Brunner shouted back, into nothing.
"Flank speed! Push it to the limit!"
Then, everything was silent. Light flackered and went off, and even the emergency lighting went offline. All monitors cut their operations, and the sound of the torpedo had vanished.

"BDA! BDA!" Bruner shouted to his highest of ability, as the MC channels had stopped working.
"All systems offline. Damage to the reactor. No possibility of repairing that from here. We're immovable. Lago Maggiore reports heavy smoke around us. Their emergency crews are ready. I suggest we get to the surface deck." The OOD reported.
"Check. I would say the same."

At that moment, the roar of Rolls-Royce aircraft engines filled the air. At very low altitude, a Breguet Atlantique 2 came in, flying low over the heads of the crew of both submarines. It was closely followed by the roar of another aircraft, the E-2C Hawkeye, promised by the CV-21. While the E-2C hawkeye kept circling overhead, at an increasing higher altitude, the Breguet continued, into the area the torpedo was shot from.

"Sir, The Lago Maggiore reports that SAR is on their way. The VLM also sent a Damen Heavy Lift and a Crane Barge vessel on their way, to accompany us towards our home. The CV-21 has promised to take the operation's responsibility from now on. They're some 9 hours away."

The last life boat was filled up except for the captain. Yuri walked toward the life boat and acted like he was beginning to get in, but insted he cut the ropes. The boat fell to the surface, the sailors looking up in disbelief. Captain Yuri ran to the bridge and veered the ship away from his men, the torp was getting near, and the last thing he wanted was the explosion to get to his men.

Twenty seconds later, he looked toward the stern and saw his men were sufficient distance away. He then looked and saw the torp streaming at the ship. He closed his eys...

BOOM!

A giant fireball rose up above the ship. The tropedo cargo had gone off, thus adding to the explosion. Captain Yuri had been through from the ship in the explosion, while being severely injured in the process. He saw his ship on fire and sinking, then a wave came and moved him enough that he saw his men. Yuri smiled, he then feel unconscious, floating on his back in the wide open sea...

Several hours later then the Breguet had passed over, one of the other parts of the CV-21 group arrived. It was the VLS Kiel, F-788, A Marseille Class Stealth-Frigate arrived, accompanied by two Nimes-Class Patrol Frigates, also with a reduced RCS. The VLS Valkenburg and Groningen, PF-1021 and PF-1022, were both loaded with 30 Marines, the complement available to the CV-21.

As the three frigates threw out their ropes and merged with the two submarines, one group of thirty marines stormed aboard the Sarnersee, quickly taking all personnel from board. As the lifters from the VLM were scheduled to arrive in some days, another Marseille-Class frigate was sent to guard the position of the submarine, while the Valkenburg returned to the carrier with the Seawolf's personnel, and the rest of the frigates and the U212-class moved to the last known position of both the rogue submarine and the merchant.
