High Ecclesiarchy Marks Xirniumite Holocaust

Events marking the anniversary of the beginning of the Xirniumite Holocaust have begun throughout Holy Xirnium. The commemorations shall fall on the date, many years ago, when the horrible truth of the genocidal plan was finally made public to the world by then dictator of Holy Xirnium, Quikzos IV.

As a mark of respect, the Chief Minister of Holy Xirnium, Grand Cardinal Ertham Nidor, has called on all Xirniumites to light candles in their windows in remembrance. 'Though the events of the Xirniumite Holocaust are a dark episode of our distant past, they no longer have any relevance to modern Xirnium. Today Holy Xirnium is a vibrant, secular, liberal democracy,' explained Lord Nidor. 'That said, however, the murderous campaign was one of profound horror and misery inflicted on the Xirniumite people, and must be forever remembered for that fact.'

Prior to Xirnium-Kraven War, slightly over two hundred thousand Xirniumite citizens were cruelly murdered by the Quikzos regime, which had seized power in a bloody coup mere months before (and would rapidly lose it by the time the invasion of Xirnium had begun). Some one hundred and fifty Xirniumites were also sold by the illegitimate Quikzos government into slavery, though fortunately the vast majority of these eventually came to the Infinite Empire where they were promptly given their freedom.

Following the merciless annihilation of the brutal and homicidal Quikzos regime and “God-Ministry” by the High Ecclesiarchy, most of these deported citizens chose to migrate back to Holy Xirnium.

Survivors of the holocaust, government officials and foreign dignitaries will gather at the Grand Basilica of the High Ecclesiarchy to hold a memorial on Friday.

Anger still raw

The names of the north-eastern towns randomly levelled in nuclear bombardment by the Quikzos regime, Teknath, Norik, Pelgar, Citras, Werth, and Astor, continue to remain indelibly marked on the Xirniumite psyche. Indeed, the sheer hatred expressed at the former “God-Emperor” remains as real today as it ever was. In many ways, the Xirniumite Holocaust accelerated the movement of Holy Xirnium towards the atheist State that it is today.

‘Though we must never forget the terrible tragedy that befell our wonderful nation during the dark months of the Quikzos dictatorship, some comfort can be drawn from the fact that Holy Xirnium, without the luxury of outside assistance and of its own volition, threw off the shackles of the evil Quikzos regime and ruthlessly brought those responsible for the genocide to justice,’ explained prominent Xirniumite historian, Fredrick Vernth. A total of 873 different individuals implicated in commiting the Xirniumite Holocaust (including Quikzos IV and his henchmen) were tried and executed following the end of the Xirniumite-Kraven War.

Many also remember the heroism of those who resisted Quikzos’ reign of terror - of how the High Ecclesiarchy and Inquisition fought a difficult and secret war against the “God-Emperor” in the months just prior to the Kraven invasion. Their endeavours were ultimately successful, and Quikzos was captured following the storming of his residence in the Hallowed Palace.

‘Quikzos waged his genocidal campaign against the Xirniumite citizenry in an effort to teach the people of Xirnium the cost of “defying their god”. In this he utterly failed,’ explains Xirnium’s Foreign Minister, Grand Cardinal Gilda. ‘Rather, the Xirniumite Holocaust shows only that the human spirit always prevails over the darkness.’
