Famous Aequatian Military Units

15th Marine Division "The Devil's Reapers"

The foundation of the 15th Marine Division were laid at the time of the nation's founding as one of the original twenty Marine units activated along with the creation of the Aequatian Navy. As Aequatio is an island nation, the Marines were the only ground unit until the formation of the Army a few years later. Initially a regiment-sized unit, they were the only unit available to be sent to the newly-founded and troubled nation of Automagfreek to aid in the stabilization of the internal conflict which had broken out.

After their return from Automagfreek, they would remain at home until a large conflict had broken out between many nations, including Aequatio through alliance obligations, the 15th Marines (now a brigade-sized element) was deployed to Iesus Christi and during beachhead operations came under attack by Iesus Christi forces who used chemical nerve agents, including VX, unprepared for such an immediate attack, many were caught without personal NBC protective equipment and up to 6,000 soldiers were killed. After the attack, a ceasefire was called and Aequatian forces were withdrawn from the conflict. This incident prompted the Aequatian Marines to adopt procedures of wearing full MOPP equipment when landing on enemy soil.

The unit returned and was placed in reserve until its numbers could be replenished, interestingly enough, many of the surviving personnel from the 14th Marine Division were assimilated into the 15th Division after the conflict. Once it was returned to active duty, Iraqstan and the Aequatian Republic declared war over the issue of humanitarian aid. For reasons unknown, Iraqstani authorities refused to allow foreign aid to enter the nation to its citizens who desperately needed it. Conflict ensued and the 15th Division was deployed as a spearhead for Army units, using the Division's armour to penetrate the Iraqstan border and clear the way. After a month of fighting, a ceasefire was declared and Iraqstan allowed for aid to flow into the nation. Facing minimal casualties during the operation, the 15th Marines became the most decorated unit in the Aequatian armed forces.

Upon their return to Aequatio, their numbers would grow with the disbandment of other Marine units and their amalgamation into a single division. Through disarmament programmes and other hard times, the 15th Marines would still remain one of Aequatio's premiere combat units, always prepared to by deployed to a warzone. In the latest re-armament programme, they recieved new equipment such as the new G6 Infantry Rifle, the "Banshee" Main Battle Tank and "Raider" Light Armoured Vehicle.

Soon after this re-armament, the Marines of the 15th Division were called upon to undertake in Operation Noble Lion, the invasion of Red Tide, alongside Coalition forces from the nations of Anagonia, Stoned Ninjas, Czardas, Northrop-Grumman and Minnechusettsfornia. However, the Marines would see very little combat, landing behind Anagonian Marines on the beaches of Red Tide and taking part in establishing and reinforcing the beachhead, only to learn of the Red Tide surrender to the Coalition's demands and cease their actions.

Currently, the 15th Marines have now returned to Aequatio and will continue to serve as one of the nation's active units for overseas conflicts and obligations.

Famous Aequatian Military Units

1st Armoured Division "Rolling Thunder"

The Aequatian 1st Armoured Division was founded as one of the Army's first units with fully mechanized forces. Originally a light cavalry unit armed with U.S. M48A3 Patton tanks and M113A3 personnel carriers, they were upgraded to use the M1A1 Abrams and a few M2 Bradley vehicles shortly after the units founding (then a battalion-sized force). They were one of the Army units belonging to the force sent to Iraqstan and fought alongside the units of the 15th Marine Division.

April 2003: Tanks of the 1st Armoured Division advance on the left flank of the armoured units of the 15th Marines, South of Um Lizaa, Iraqstan.

Upon return to Aequatio, the unit had remained on active duty until the military changed tactics and armoured units were disbanded and attached to mechanized infantry units. The 1st Armoured was deactivated and its units were attacted to several other units within the army, including the 3rd and 16th Mechanized Infantry Divisions and the 371st Arctic Brigade. By this time, the Army had adpoted the Predator Main Battle Tank to replace the older Dragon and Gladiator vehicles in active and reserve service, respectively.

The unit wouldn't return to active service until a large re-armament program which gave it new life as the 21st Armoured Division and stationed as a home defence unit. They were the first unit to recieve the Incubus Main Battle Tank and were deployed with other units to Neo Aequatius during the Sel Appa invasion of Aequatio. Its units were quickly dispatched and were to act as the spearhead for the counter-assault against Sel Appan units ready to attack the city of Desedna. However, the order to advance never came as the Sel Appa forces were withdrawn, after this the unit took part in the reconstruction of Desedna and Rhanda.

After this operation, the unit was redesignated as the 1st Armoured Division and stationed at Fort Pendleton outside the capital of Magna Casa. Since then, they have no taken part in any new operations outside of Aequatio, however they are prepared for mobilization at a moment's notice to anywhere in the world.
