Exodians: The new beginning (NFT, semi-closed)

The Exodians
29-01-2006, 20:47
Name: Exodians
Race: Cybernetic Humanoids
-Appearance
The Exodians look like they are always wearing a full suit of armour, but this is in fact a set of augmentics fully encasing them. Only through the transparant visor of their helmet you can see they were once humans. Their actual bodies within the armour are very thin and weak, unable to perform things that require quite a bit of strength, including walking. The armour makes them able to live in virtually all places, except for space itself.

-Personality
No longer striving for themselves, but rather for the preservation and improvement of the race, Exodians all have very good relations with eachother. The opposite applies to strangers, who they view as threats to their survival. This can be somewhat problematic in diplomatic cases, where their will to apply logic can conflict with the will to get what's best for them.

History:
For millenia long, the Meklar race lived peacefully on the small earth-like planet Meklon. Augmentics weren't really needed in that time, they only found their uses for replacing bodyparts lost in accidents or helping people overcome physical decay at old age. It all appeared to be a perfect world, or atleast it was untill space-travel was invented. At first it was only used for the colonization of the two moons the planet had, but it wasn't long before several groups understood these powers could be used for different, more destructive things.

Within two years, the planet had been engulfed in three different wars, the last of which had been the most destructive the planet had ever seen. It was also the last it would see, because one of the factions in this conflict had managed to set up such a giant bomb, that its explosion had altered the course of Meklon to a spiral towards the star.

The Meklar had no choice but to set off into space. In the five years that remained, many of the spacecraft were rebuild to become colonization vessels. It was still not enough to get everybody of the planet, but after all that happend the Meklar had understood that by fighting over it, nobody would leave at all. In the end just over half of the people could be evacuated, mainly because the ships had to contain a lot of technology that wasn't necessary before like artificial airsources and greenhouse-style constructions. While the rest of the Meklar race died out together with the planet, the group in space started travelling through the galaxy, hoping to once reach a habitable planet.

Many generations later, they were only a shade of their former beings, weakened by the lack of gravity. Their technology and knowledge was slowly increasing, and new types of augmentations were being constructed to help overcome the physical decay of the race. By now they had renamed themselves to the Exodians, as they were no longer anything like the Meklar had once been. When they eventually reached a suitable star system they could barely believe their eyes. Their ancestors had left behind one small planet a long time ago, and here they discovered not just one, but two larger planets to live on.

The star system would be named Calxion, as it was the goal they had been trying to reach for centuries. The fourth and fifth were both habitable, shielded from the dangers of outerspace by a large asteroid belt where the sixth planet must once have been.

Around Calxion IV orbited an moon made out of ice, not exactly habitable, but it could provide enough water for the planet in case of disasters. Exodians living on it would need special augmentics to resist the sheer cold, and all food would need to be delivered from the planet as nothing grows on the ice.

Calxion V was quite the opposite. There was plenty of everything on the planet itself, but the moon was simply an oversized asteroid that had been attracted out of the belt. It would probably contain a lot of minerals, but putting a colony on it would become a bit tricky.

The Exodians finally colonized this system, using the materials from the colonization ships to construct the first buildings. After that their combined effort led to their rapid spreading over the planets, slowly changing back into a worthy civilisation again. The only difference to the Meklar would be their augmentics, and the knowledge not to start any internal wars ever again. What was out there in space would be a totally different matter...

Present:
Now the Exodians have created an empire even bigger than that of the race they once were. Their influence is not only noticable on their planets, but also the asteroid belt around those is being used for raw materials and the construction of fortresses in them. Although they are at peaceful terms with the other known races, they know that this will not last forever, and they will remain preparing for that day...

Owned Planets and other Stellar objects:

-Calxion IV(Planet)
This world is the most suitable for life in the system (to Terran norms), and the Exodians are using it mainly for the production of food, and other things that require to be grown. It is dependant on Calxion V and the moons for defence.

-Calxion V(Planet)
The main industry of the Exodian Empire is located here, with raw materials coming from the adjacent Asteroid belt. It is heavily armed with ground batteries and missile racks, as it is meant to protect both planets.

-Conforti I(Moon)
This is the moon of Calxion IV. On it a small colony is build, and the Exodian shipyard is located here too. It is dependant on Calxion IV for supplies, but heavily armed and guarded.

-Conforti II(Moon)
The ice moon orbiting Calxion V. In times of need the Exodians mine the ice to make water out of it on the planet. A fortress is located at the dark side of this moon to protect this 'water reservoir'.

-Silex(Asteroid Belt)
Source of raw materials for the empire, almost everything is mined from the asteroids in here, and some will be changed into ships or stations.

Technology Level

The technology of the Exodians is relatively advanced in the fields of mining and construction, especially the knowledge and skill to use asteroid material for most things. Everything focuses mostly on defensive things, to preserve lives. Most combat troops are still fitted with only basic ballistic weaponry, with the newer and better weapons reserved for the higher trained among them. The combat troops do have the advantage of the augmentic suits being easily changed into bigger and stronger armoured ones.

The Gritsnak Space Hulk lept out of FTL and jolted forward as the conventional engines began releasing a thick plume of Black smoke which dissipated into space, they neared what they had figured to be some advanced race, a possibility for more strength and wealth was too good an opportunity to pass up.

"Kap'in, we's got's'em peepulls lowkayshun on er neerbuy planitt."
((Captain, We have the location, they are on a nearby planet))

One of the Kommz Goblins told his Kap'in who turned and sneered, he thought about the cache of weapons and salvage in the cargo hold and was calculating it's worth.

"Putt froo a messarj an' get's'em tur kontakt us bakk."
((Send a message, tell them we want to talk))

(OOC: translations follow each spoken sentence, highlight the next line to reveal)

"Sir, something big, filthy, and ramshackl-looking has just entered our star system."

"Is it doing anything right now?"

"They appear to be trying to contact us, Sir. It's quite a strange dialect, but I think they want to talk to us. Shall I open a channel?"

"Yes, I'm interested to hear who these are."

The commander stood up from his chair, and walked to the microphone on the desk in front of him. He waited untill the communications section had set up a channel with the vessel, then started to talk.

"This is Colonel Gazarg from the Exodians, who are you, and what is your business here?"

OOC: The Colonel is as (un)friendly as always...:OOC

The message was sent through the Komms who sent it through the known language database, after a short while they managed to translate the dialect and sent it off to the Kap'in who read it and sent another message back.

"We's are tha Toop, we's got stuff that's might be wurf traydin' i'll be sen'ing a full manifest wiv this messij"
((We are the Toop, we have items for trade, I will be sending a full cargo manifest along with this message.))

(OOC: The cargo manifest shows several sheets of workable alloys, a few sub-light engines, some weapons, and some fuel.)

"They appear to be traders, Sir, they just sent us a list of things they can trade. Either that, or it's the components of the ship they're in."

"Is there anything in there which we might find interesting?"

"I'm sorry, but I can't get the translation on all that stuff, perhaps we should get them over here to show it?"

Colonel Gazarg thought about this for a moment, then decided that it could be worth a try. Although the station that would be meant for things like this was still under construction, he could probably get these Toop persons to come over to his temporary command vessel.

"Colonel Gazarg again, we request you to send a shuttle or other small craft to my vessel where you can show us your..."merchandise"."

"Preepair one of tha Shutall Podz for sendin' ova there, git one of tha Scrappa Boyz in, 'e'll tell em all thay needs tur know!"
((Prepare one of the shuttle pods and send it over to the Exodians, have one of the Scrap heap controllers on-board ready to relay all the information on the heap.))

A Shuttle Boy saluted the Kap'in before wandering off to the hanger bays where giant circular type constructs hung off the floor, already waiting was the Scrappa boy and the Pilot.

"Get'z going or Tha Kap'in will 'ave us fur food."

After determining that what came from the Toopian ship was indeed a shuttle, and not some spare part that happend to have fallen off, the Colonel spoke again.

"My apologies for not being able to meet you in a more 'suitable' place, but as you can see to your right, the station meant for that is currently under construction."

Colonel Gazarg left the bridge and went towards the hangar, two almost giant bodyguards at his sides. (In fact these were just as thin and weak as him, they just happend to have bigger suits or armour and stronger augmentics.) He didn't know what to expect from these beings, but he was sure not to take any risks this time.

The Goblins were shocked at the sight of the Augments (OOC: see he was right) they did not look like Humies, or anything else they had encountered.
(OOC: save translation they'll now be talking normal English)
"I am Scrap-heap Captain Snaggrip, I have come to broker a deal, our finest scrap for valuable technology, I have a full manifest for the Cargo bay which you should have recieved in an earlier transmission, what would you be willing to trade?"
The Exodians

Gazarg and his escort were suprised to see these small green-skinned beings being the ones they had talked with. Although they didn't tell them, they had expected something a bit more impressive. For now they would just assume these Toopians would make up for their lack of size with something else, although they didn't exactly know what.

"Uhmm, yes, I think you might have something we want." Gazarg told Snaggrip. Directly after that he wondered what there was in the pile of junk that could be of interest.

"How about you show us some of the infantry weapons inside your - Err..- Cargo? Those looked interesting." he asked after some thought.

Snaggrip fumbled about in the Pod for a while before pulling out a large gun, he pointed it to see if the aim was in and then looked at the Augments.

"Don't worry, it's not loaded, this is the standard Toopish Blaster, it will fire projectiles over 2 times faster than a gunpowder based weapon, the rouble being the slow rate of fire, the innacuracy and power issues, instead Toop military favours a more toe to toe policy, we use specially crafted Swords which have both a blunt and sharp end for bludgeoning and slicing, interested?"

OOC: Sorry, had to eat for a moment :OOC

"Err, I'm not so sure if that is of use to us, what makes your swords different from, well, any other sword?"

Gazarg was now regretting having asked for weapons, he should have picked something less dangerous to everybody. Perhaps it wasn't too late yet, if these swords proved to be a failure, he would simply ask for one of the alloys or whatever, and get this over.

Thinking about it Snaggrip realised he was not the greatest salesman, he quickly thought about what made the Toopish blades so good, a uniform description couldn't be used as each blade had a different quality.

"ummm, The Toopish Blade is easy to store and carry as it is light and easily wielded, it also provides great strength in combat and would be a valuable asset in destroying an enemy."

The core part of the description was exaturated but Snaggrip thanked the Gods that this part was over.
The Exodians
30-01-2006, 19:06
"Ok...I'm sorry but I don't think that light and easily wielded is of any real use here." Gazarg said, while pointing at the massive armoured fists his guards were 'wearing'.

"Perhaps it's a better idea if you tell me about one of those alloys you say you have. If there's a good one in those we might be able to construct our own weaponry out of that."

Gazarg was really hoping there was something good in there, as he wouldn't even dare to buy an engine or fuel from this race, that would probably become the death of those flying a ship equipped with it.
Toops
30-01-2006, 19:14
"Well, the fleet uses this alloy," He pulled out some small pieces of the metal "for the armour on our military vehicles, and they are the toughest of the Toopish vehicles, tougher then this here Shuttle."

He smiled hoping that this would attract the potential buyers into a deal, if he didn't make this sale then the Captian would have his guts for a trophy.
The Exodians
30-01-2006, 19:19
Gazarg's face showed a small smile, as he finally appeared to have found something which he could show to his superiors without being laughed at. He took the piece of metal from the Toopian, and tried if it would bend.

It wouldn't.

"See if you can break this." he told one of his guard, and gave him the piece of metal. Several moments later a sharp 'crack' was heared, when the powered fists managed to snap the armour in half.

"Ok, that will do." Gazarg told the Toopian "but what do you want in return?"
Toops
30-01-2006, 19:31
"We would like to explore the possibility of Toopish Augments, if you could provide us with the basic knowledge to get us on our way we would be willing to trade you as many sheets as we have in stock" A quick check of the manifest "we have 100 meter square sheets, if this is an unacceptable trade then we would be willing to hear a counter-proposal."
The Exodians
30-01-2006, 19:38
"Ok, just wait a moment while I contact somebody about this."

Moments later, Gazarg could be seen talking to something inside his helmet, apparantly contacting his superiors about the Toopian offer. After a short unhearble conversation, he looked a bit suprised, and turned back to Snaggrip.

"Although we can't fully help you with the suits at this time, I have to tell you were are willing to trade the knowledge to make augmented arms in trade for the metal alloy."

Gazarg was relieved they had asked something that was so easy to come by in the empire, and that was also why he was suprised with the High Command only allowing him to trade the schemes for the augmentic arms.

"Deal, we will have a Shuttle prepared for transit of the alloys, it will be here within the hour, for now I must return to speak with my Captain and tell him of what has transpired here."

Snaggrip brushed the sweat off his forhead, that had been an experience he never wnated to go through again, seeling items was harder than he had been taught.

'Glad this is over'. Garzag thought to himself. He would make sure some sort of officer would get recruited for the dealing with this kind of 'salesmen'. All together, he didn't think he had done too much wrong here, both sides were happy, and he was growing to like those little Toopians. They were no threat to the Exodians, but only to themselves.

After sending someone to bring the schematics and a single arm for the Toopians, he retired to his quarters to think again over what had happend.
