Story

The Zivvarian Galaxy, a small galaxy on the universe's North Western rim containing about 2400 star's with habitable planets, is home to the Serrin people. The Serrin's are a life loving people, who have spent thousands of year's at war to exterminate a vile race known as Mitani who had tried to enslave their galaxy. After the war, the entirety of Zavvari was place under the protection of the Serrin Protecterate, known as Warshrike, who for many year's defended the galaxy from uprisings and nurtured the life within their galaxy. Population growth however left them with no space inside of their border's, so the 1st intergalactic ships we're designed and sent out, scouting other galaxies for speci to add to the protectorate and new galaxy's to settle within.

The explorator fleet of the Serrinite people.

Current day

The fleet has arrived after 20 year's of travel upon the rim of a galaxy. They broadcast message's throughout the galaxy to all race's, requesting a peaceful meeting to take place there on the rim. After broadcast they begin creating an outpost on a nearby world, which they named the Simban Embassy. They then settled in to await the arrival of the galaxies denizen's

A Boozian light cruiser returned to realspace, close to the fleet, transmitting a hailing mesage.
"Unidentified fleet, state your purpose. You have thirty minutes to comply. If yo do not, you will be boarded, I repeat, if you do not comply, you will be boarded. If you attempt hostile action, local patrols will be summoned, and you will be fired upon. Thirty minutes counting."
It was a lot for one small ship to demand, but it was, as it had said ready to summon patrols and prizehunters. The little cruiser continued it's slow advance towards the fleet, transmitting occasional "time remaining" messages.

IC:

It seemed that the garrison forces were getting a workout this month. This was the second broadcasted message that they had received about a peaceful meeting on the rim of some system.

"Another one?" The woman that had just made the last run back to the Capital was exhausted and the look on her face was clearly showing that she would not be volunteering. No one else wanted to make the days flight either.

An unfortunate Abh was picked by drawing straws. The docking bay had already finished refueling the Communications shuttle that had just arrived and was now going through a final diagnostics check to prepare for the next departure. The young man climbed in without complaint and plugged his alpha into the port as the feelings of the ship washed into him. The tiny craft sped off into the Sord and began its long journey to Lakfakalae.
------------------------------------
One day later: Lakfakalae

A familiar scene graced the Emperor's throne room once again in the form of a tired Abh kneeling at the base of the dias. "Your highness, we have received another transmission about a peaceful meeting at the rim of a new system."

Emperor Dubeusec rested tilted his head so it rested on his right fist. "Thank you pilot trainee, get some rest and you may return to your duties once rested. I will take care of the situation."

The young Abh stood and bowed. "Than you your majesty." The man turned and left the room.

Dubeusec looked down at his clyuno and sighed. "He's going to hate me for this." The green jewel resting on the back of his hand and let up.

"This is communications your highness, how may I serve you?"

"I need you to contact Lord Rahl on D'Hara and inform him that I regret to have to cut his leave short but I need him for a mission. Tell him it is safe for him to bring his family though. He'll have the new fleet accompany him for protection."

"And the other your majesty?"

"Send a message to the northern quadrant of the galaxy. Send a written message informing them that an ambassador will be there in a day or so to take part in a diplomatic meeting."

"Yes your majesty."

From the Jade Throne of the Abh Empire:

We have acknowledged your request to hold a peaceful meeting and are dispatching a diplomat to take part in such. He will arrive in approximatly one day. Good day and may the meeting go well.

The frigate NES Mantis skimmed the deep. Even in a time of civil war, exploration and patrols had to be kept. Otherwise, who knew what might occur in the galaxy at large during such a conflict.

It was en route to the far end of a No Endorse trade route when the it recieved the message, one of peace and hope.

The captain of the vessel could only sigh. Peace and hope have no place here. There is only pain. "HELM! Let's go meet our new guests!"

A slight turn in hyper, a major feat of computing, and the frigate was well on its way to the newcomers.

Apon entering the fringe of the system, it let loose a standard hailing message and did a quick scan.

Captain Gary Wind of No Endorse frigate NES Mantis hailing the Serrin fleet. We recieved your message while in the neighborhood and decided to drop by. We would like to send over a delegate to meet with you and possibly brief you on what you might find around here, for what little we do know. How should we handle this?

Unfortionatly our craft is not capable of carrying a shuttle, so we either need to land on the planet or dock with one of your ships.

Lieutenant Maver was pulling an all-nighter shift at the Listing station. Suddenly a Tiny almost unheard message was noted and recorded within the computer. An alarm sounded and work Maver up he read the screen and keyed up the Stations Commander on the Intercom.

"Uh Sir, we have an unknown transmission."
"*Yawn*...Fine...See where it's coming from and dispatch a Ship to Investigate."
"Yes sir."

The Crusier "Endavor" was sent to the location of the Transmission.

The Crusier exited Slipspace and entered real space, once there it sent it's own message.

This is the Yukatan Crusier Endavor we would like to attend this meeting, we have a high-ranking diplomat on board who would like to meet your people.

The light cruiser summoned all ships in that sector. It was a ragged and small, but servicable fleet, and would arrive in about an hour, the closest ships in fifteen minutes. The ship continued hailing.

"Fleet, your statement is too vague. State your strategic, not ideological, purpose. If you attempt to "protect" our enemies, you will be assaulted freely. You have twenty minutes to comply." The voice suddenly became more human sounding. "And if you call me vermin again, I wont screw around with declarations and politics. I know your type, Mr.Cleanse the galaxy. Your no better than the rest of us."

"Having spoken with the explorator council it is deemed acceptable to have you land one Lina away from our embassy. We will send a ground transport to your ship to collect up to twenty reprisentitives upon your landing."
Captain Wind blinked at the message, and decided to ask the stupid. "Uhh... nav? What in blazes is a Lina?"

"Your guess is as good as mine sir."

"Well, I don't want to find out too negatively. Helm, take us down say... fifteen clicks away from that thing. Ought to be enough. And keep shields at standard, ready for surge to max."

The hundred-meter craft dipped down into the atmosphere and landed softly just under fifteen kilometers away. Four figures debarked, the ship towering over them. Funny how a small ship still seems so big...

Back on the bridge:
The second in command was reviewing all of the messages being sent back and forth in the space high above. What are these morons trying to do? Screw themselves over royally? Don't they know how many ships are up there? Meh, what type of shipping do we have around? Great, a bit just under an hour off, and a little under half an hour. Nothin else under a day off, DAMN! And little hope of support from base for a while. Bluff time!

This transmission is to the militaristic scum that's threatening these guys before you even find out their intentions. As we are about to enter into a meeting with them, any attack on them or us will constitute a direct attack on the Inferno, and all of the conditions inherent in such actions.

Stand down NOW, or feel the wrath of No Endorse.

A second transmission was sent right on this ones heels, encrypted and phased into complete illegibility. It was tightbeamed to the main GFFA communications and relay station.

New race encountered at the coordinates provided.
Nova Boozian ship spotted, making hostile actions towards new race.
Xenos have a sizable fleet, but ship abilities are unknown.
Only one frigate NES Mantis on station, currently planetside.
NE reinforcements coming, but insufficient to ward off major threats.
Request immediate assistance and reinforcement.
Also request advice on how to handle situation.

The Terrans didn't know it, but they were about to back up No Endorses bluff. Task Fleet number Seven, Attitude, appeared in the contested area, they had deteted the open transmissioin, and they knew that dealing with a hostile nation would boost the GE in the eyes of the international community.

The First Fleet jumped into hyperspace and made its way to the trouble spot. They had received the call for reinforcements from No Endorse, and being from the 'west' side of the galaxy quickly responded. It would not take long for the fleet to arrive.

A medium tonnage frigate left warp space.
"And now the party starts. I want to shoot these guys, I really do, but I can't. Oh well."
"Are you sure this hostility is wise, captain."
"Yes, I damn well am. I didn't "agress". Commisar, what's the regulation message for these circumstances.
"Exactly what you sent."
"See, I didn't make threats beyond the ones you have to be prepared to make to live in a big, wide universe full of people with more guns who want you dead. It's the goody-two-shoes who jumped on the oppertunity for righteos bloody smiting. They think they're superior life forms. "Whatr is it?"

"A frigate, even smaller than an Arbiter."

"Well then, I guess it's time to show them the error of their ways. Bring up the wedge to full strength, go to standard maximum, and bring up the Yamato Batteries on all the ships, activate PDCs, Grasers, and Burst Lasers. And one last thing..."

"Yes sir?"

"Start the music."

Task Fleet Seven moved out,k as the opening strains of Metallicas "Attitude" began to flood the spacewaves, not very subtle, but it sure as hell got the point across. Plus, it was almost like the Terrans Calling Card by now...

Another ship de-warped. A battlecruiser, closely followed by a supporting trio
of frigates. Next came a pair of regular cruisers and five destroyers escorting them.

"Fleet, state your strategic intention or you will be fired upon. You have ten minutes to comply."

As the recording played out, the light cruiser's captain continued his rant to the lieutenant.

"I know where the words "defend the galaxy" and "crush the vermin" lead. They lead to the point where just because you name your planet killer "the hammer of righteous smiting" and paint it white and gold, people think your the good guy."

A corvette de-warped, followed by another from the opposite direction.

The flagship of the Symphonic Fleet, the Sylvanna, glided through Hyperspace along with it's escort of Dissith Cruisers, Urbannus Flankers, and Exiled Destroyers and a substantial fighter support. Lord Rahl sat in the high backed chair with his sword resting against the arm rest. "How much longer until we arrive?"

The young officer moved across the counsel to calculate the time. "Sir we are coming up on the coordinance now."

Richard nodded as he moved his head to rest on his right fist. "Communications, send a message to the fleet hosting this meeting and inform that we are preparing to make the jump to normal space."

The communications officer worked over the glass counsel but found that she couldn't get a signal through unless it was written. The woman's intelligence surpassed that of most her age. "Lord Rahl, we are picking up music on all frequencies. It appears that Miehmish forces have moved to a battle stance."

The statement took some of the relaxed posture out of Richard but he maintained his calm. "Well I was only going to move the flagship out so as to not appear threatening but it seems that has already been taken care of. I want all ships to form up on the Sylvanna and fighters and gunships to the front."

The fleet began to form up with Exiled Destroyers hunkering in the middle with the more mobile Dissith Cruisers and Urbannus Flankers out on the edges. Fighters had taken up positions on front and center.

"Make the jump."

A ring of blue jump gates formed by the Warshike exploration fleet with the flagship moving out in front of all. "Well this was certainly unexpected. We have two fleets that shouldn't be here. What's the position of both?"

"Lord Rahl, unknown fleet seems to be the one innitiating agressions. Miehmish fleet seems to be here as support for our guest."

"That is interesting. Communications, send a text message to the unknown fleet and hope they have the tech capable of receiving it."

To Nove Boozia:

"With respect, captain, I am alot more political than you."
"I mean international opinion."
"Ah."
The recorded message ready for sending was: "You fired first, scum."
The message sent was: "Look, people, maybe I just had to send that recorded message to preserve my career. Maybe I am a sensitive and subtle person. On the other hand, I could hate you all, as my only other message in person would indicate, but hey, you've certainly run out the guns. I never fired. I never said that if you said diplomacy was your purpose I wouldn't talk on your terms. I never ran out my guns, in the literal sense [Boozian ships have gundecks]. Dozens of powerful Yamato Blasts lashed through space, as the Terrans unique FTLi system locked the area down. Burst lasers, Grasers, Particle Disruption Cannon, HALO missiles, Hellbores, dozens of different energy weapon types, and several different forms of missiles, including the standoff range laser warheads that typified APOLLO and HALO systems.

There was little hope for a single ship, no matter how large, beset by an entire fleet of Terran and Protoss ships.

Boats flew from the hulk of the ship, as the remaining crew in the twisted lump of metal desparetly tried to disarm anything volatile. They succeeded, in that the ship was still there and the magazine wasnt, but not in the way they were thinking of.
"Holy shit. We can't fight that. Good thing they just commited a minor war crime."
Eventually, the few remaining crew were evacuated, and the fleet jumped back to a small border station.

In the twisting unreality of warp space, a message was sent to the GFFA, and other powers.

"Attached to this message is a completely uncencored record of all the activities surrounding the recent first contact. As you can see, a Boozian warship, guns in, unprepared for comat, performs standard Boozian procedure of somewhat unfriendly greeting, as the unknown fleet has a substantial carrier battlegroup. They respond in an equally unfriendly, and, on a strayegic scale, equally threatening way. Various other powers send ships with more friendly greetings. The Boozian's somewhat unorthodox commander begins a verbal back-and-forth, and, being concerned that his country (he has a substantial family in nearby space) is under threat, summons local patrols to give his words weight. One fleet runs out their guns. The Boozian, understandably, responds in kind, as the crews innocent lives are at stake. A battlecruiser, without a direct and tactical warning, is fired upon, and many hundreds of crewmen are killed. This is the first death of the operation, and no war was declared, thus, this constitutes a minor attrocity. For the sake of the crews families, I beg you, please halt this aggression. We, despite not killing any of the murderers, will pay reparations to Meihm, and offer free passage and trading to the newcomers. We are preparing an unarmed envoy ship to discuss this with Meihm. Your humble servant, Commodore Dernels."

OOC: Quite alright. I just use things other than open frequency's, like whisker lasers. And, it doesn't affect the Warp, it affects the ability of the barrier between Real Space and any alternate dimension to be breached.

IC:

"We are going to take your running in your guns as a temporary surrender. We will also open a gap in the FTLi to allow youer envoy access, at these coordinates. Any attemprt by a warship to move to those copordinates will result in destruction." Thank god that took the wind out of them... We can only pull that trick once in a fight(referring to the barrage of missiles), and now we're all out of missiles on the bigger ships, here's hoping this stays friendly from now on...

At coordinates transmitted by the Terran ship Attitude a small gap in the FTLi is opened, large enough to let an envoy in, and in a position so that the enemy will be forced to run the gauntlet down the Terran Wall of Battle, opening them to the entire fleets Broadsides.

A small No Endorse fleet hypered in at the edge of the inhibitor field, torn from hyper. The exploration commadore was in a ripe mood, cursing the existance of the dimensional wall and screaming at the second in command down on the planet.

"YOU never told us of Miehmish forces in the area, NOR of an inhibitor field. How do you explain your actions?"

There was no reply, besides a single image of the Miehmish fleet destroying the Boozian cruiser, and text saying "Does it look like we can do a feck about it now? You're welcome to try. We'll even film it."

More muttered curses accompanied this arrival. "Helm, how far are we from this cluster fluffle-fest?"

"In sublight? Long enough that my unborn son will hit puberty fore we get there. And our momentum carried us far enough in that it would probably take a year to get out."

"Ask the Miehmish forces to kindly lower their inhibitor, and full acceleration towards them. I want no screw-ups, make sure that they know that we're NOT hostile and would welcome their presence at talks with whatever the Mantis says is down there."

A transmission was sent, and the small group began moving towards the planet in question, quite peeved at the situation.

A second carefully placed hole in the FTLi was opened, and the coordinates were transmitted to the No Endorsian(Or whatever you call them) ships.

I disagree. If you ran out your guns, and then treet our gun outing as a declaration, then we would have been in a position to legally fire before you. We did not, in order to indicate that we wished you no harm. I apologise for the provocative comments of one of our officers. He has recently had his first child, and has, in order to reconcile his duties as a father and a soldier, begun to associate protecting the country with protecting his son. He acted in error, but I do not believe insolence is an act of war.

The small skirmish supsided leaving all allied members entact. "Well it's over. That didn't take long. How disappointing. I was looking forward to a beautiful display of fighting prowess."

Cara squinted one icey blue eye at him. "Careful Lord, you are sounding like an Abh."

Please give my message to the admiral, along with my greetings and sympathies for his position.

War is a bloody buisness. Too bad we can't go back to the old ways, where leaders would engage in honorable mele.

"Fleet, execute command. Sidejumpers at the ready, all weapons to operational. Launch pickets and begin regular sensor sweep. All passives and actives full. Be prepared to relay any vital information to the Miehmish fleet."

The frigates and the pair of gunships dissapeared, re-entering realspace far from the planet. They began a standard multi-planar patrol pattern, crossing their fields of scanning as often as possible. The carrier set loose two fighter squadrons, which sidejumped to farther afield positions. All ships kept their jumpers charged, on standby to return if any pre-inhibitor disturbance was detected in the dimensional wall.

It was the pinnicle of military efficiency, exact turns and a complete field of coverage. Nothing that wasn't one-hundred percent phased out could slip through this net. Ships hopped about in FTL, keeping the net wide but tight.

Wonder what they think of our abilities now? Able to hop about tactically as easy as other ships use sublight, and able to steer in hyper. And if anything happens, they'll see that we fight as if the Gods themselves have descended to the mortal plane.

"You are correct. We can only launch that many missiles once in a fight, but the energy batteries are all still available, Yamatos powerful enough to destroy an Impstar with 2 shots, and Burst Lasers to deal with everything else. That was a WARNING. If we had been truly determined to destroy your ships we would have moved from the Battlecruiser to the next heaviest unit, again focusing all of our firepower on it, and so on, down the line until your battlegroup was extinguished. Standard operating procedure, when dealing with an unknown or hostile fleet is to charge the energy batteries and get a passive sensor lock on the enemy. Since the only assumption possible from the information I had at hand, and based on previous communications, was that they were prep[aring to fire, I struck first, and, in doing so showed your ships the foolishness of trying against an entire Fleet. Their crime was stupidity, and following the orders of a fool who let emotion decide his actions, if you do not know the capabilities of an enemy who already has their guns trained on you, it is best not to activate your own. As for the 9,000 dead men, their deaths are not mine to explain, and I will never have to write a letter home to their families explaining how their Commodore got them killed. By rights, that falls to you and yours."

As they finished, the main cruisers moved to support the Warshrike fleet, keeping far enough distant to hit the Miehmish ships up the necks if they tried to attack the Warshrikes.

Miehmish ships. You are now taking a position to attack those that you had just said to preserve. Is this how your nation honors its promises? Is this how you protect those you've vowed to protect? Is this Honor? It sure as hell isn't for any other standard in the civilised universe.

We simply don't have enough ammunition to even hope to destroy all of your ships, but we have enough to show you why you DON'T turn around right after a fight and start another one. Honor your promises. Deactivate your weapons before those of this new race show you how to.

I apologize to the Warshrike fleet for the necessity of dealing with these people in this manner. These men were once some of the most honorable in the galaxy. I only hope that there is still enough of that blood left in them to avert disaster. We don't want death, there is enough of that in our home. All we want is for these guys to either provide SySec or leave.

The No Endorse fleet adopted a defensive formation and powered down all energy weapons. All shields were boosted to maximum, and torpeedo tubes were armed.

And they did, switching on the various missile launchers and torpedo tubes of the lighter units, as they slowly stopped charging their energy batteries. In space, the flagships pulse died down and the it, with the hives, made its way back to high orbit above the planet.

The newly launched I.S.S. Aquarius, the second Atlantis class (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10177399&postcount=4) advanced command battle cruiser built, cruised silently through a near-by system. Like the I.S.S. Necropolis, the Aquarius was looking through the Milky Way Galaxy for more resources as a nation can never have too much.

I.S.S. Aquarius - Main Bridge

"Captain, we are picking up Warshrike F.T.L. signature in a near-by star system."

"Hmm, I wonder what they are doing in the Milky Way. Plot a course."

"Aye, ma'am. Plotting course."

"Take us into Hyperspace and get us there."

"Aye, ma'am. E.T.A. is two hours at standard sublight cruising velocity."

"Let me know when we get there."

"Yes, ma'am."

Exterior

The sleekly curved form of the Aquarius shimmered and dissapeared as she Phased from Real Space into the murky red-orange expanse known as Hyperspace.

OOC: Warshrike, that edit to the Regional FT map has been made. Just waiting for Imageshack to start working so I can upload it.
Note: The Atlantis class, though smaller, is capable of standing up to and defeating anything below a standard Imperial Super Star Destroyer (ie, no standard Star Destroyer is safe).

A big, tooled up cargo lighter hurridly made to look as diplomatic as was possible for a squat, boxy, hauler lowered itself to the surface. The real diplomatic shuttles had nose guns for defense, and a turret covering the ramp. Another diplomatic corps officer from Comradery, Major Falkem, disembarked as a small buggy was roled down the ramp. After a couple of minutes, him and his retinue, reduced from from the usual five armed guards to just one. No one wanted to provoke anyone. The destroyers and smaller did not land as had been planed, but merely warped out, leaving the pair of corvettes, but accompanied by the cruisers. This left only Comradery with a minimal escort.

The small Abh shuttle landed on one of the designated landing pads as the Gun-stars peeled off and headed back into space to rejoin their squadron. Thrusters fired to soften the landing while gears were lowered to stabilize ship.

The back ramp lowered and out stepped Lord Rahl. He was dressed mostly in black with a sleeveless t-shirt, breaches, and boots. The only thing that wasn't black was his golden cape the snapped in the wind and brown vambraces on his forearms. The baldrice clicked at his hip while he walked.

His raptor gaze scanned the area and seeking some way into the chamber. With jaw set firmly in place and steeled grey eyes, Richard made his way down.

OOC: The following assumes you still use IoM tech and power systems

IC:

The Terran scientists had taken about five minutes of looking at the captured hulk, before they started laughing hysterically. The nation in question used MANUAL LABOR to power their ships... There was certainly promise in all the wasted space, fill it with Yamatos and Burst Lasers, Grasers and APOLLO Tubes, and there would be alot of hurt that could be wielded by this design. Mount it with a Dahak style AI, and it would be a deadly, self directing, Terran ALLIED warship.

Finally, another series of ships entered the system, more suited to Peace Keeping than System Destruction or Pacificying hostile forces. 12 Battlecruisers, the new, more powerful Coelocanth model, 16 Terran Heavy Cruisers, and one Destroyer Flotilla, 32 strong.

OOC:Peacekeeping?? I would use that to kill something... How much did those all cost you??

Atop the roof, waiting for the arrivals was a tall, anguler faced man with long black hair and dark eyes. He even wore a thick black cloak that swayed in the faint wind. He nodded slightly to Richard as he looked around, yet it seemed he had stepped out of air. Gesturing for richard to follow, he stepped back into it, dissapearing once more. There was, of course, a teleportation device set up there.

Down on the ground floor, at the embassy's massive door nothing moved but the sweeper's and creeper's.(Sweeper's clean mess, Creeper's make it...) Another man stood their as people arrived gesturing them into the massive hallway. His short cut, grey hair showed his age, startling blue eye's slicing through you like a thousand hot knives. OOC: Couple trillion, per Coelocanth, significantly less for the rest. It may be helpful to note that I generally disregard calcs, I feel they make for bad RP. The Nevam stopped directly in front of the Captain, the back sliding down into a ramp. There was no pilot aboard and as with all the protectorate's electronic equipment was controlled by the sentinent Conrad AI system. As for all the smaller ships wishing to land, the embassy roof (Which was really just the civilian ship after it had... uh... changed a bit) Had transformed into a large series of landing pad's.

Captain Wind stepped inside, motioning the other three to accompany him. As the ramp retracted, he watced the frigate dissapear into the distance. Wonder what these guys are gonna be like? Was the trouble we caused up there worth it?

The ship lifted off as soon as the diplomats were away. Back up with the fleet, it held station above the planet, just hanging out.

Onboard several board games were whipped out and cards shuffled. It would probably be a while till talks were done.

The Aquarius deployed her Ablative Armor and activated her Trans-Spatial Shields. She then moved towards the planet and prepared to dive into the atmosphere when she was close enough.

Later...

The Aquarius had reached the outer edges of the planet's atmosphere and began to descend. The plasma created by the friction of the shields against the few molecules in her path created a flaming halo around the ship.

Later...

The Aquarius came soaring through the cloud layer after loosing her cape of fire. She began to hover over the ocean nearest the Warshrike 'embassy'. Once over deep enough water, she went nose down and dived right in. She bobbed up to the surface a few moments later. Her armor was retracted and the shields were turned off.

IC: Comradery warped out as soon as the Meihmish fleet arrived, and the corvettes gathered their boats then left as well. One sent a message before leaving. "Peacekeeping? That would require you to restructure your philosophy, murderer."

Back on the surface, Major Falkem arrived at the Warshrike embassy.

Edit: IoM is Imperium of Man, right? I'm not that primitive, my men don't actually have to pull chains, but I'm certainly well below your tech level. The small group watched the embassy approach expectantly. It would be an interesting meeting. Tensions at the homeworld were almost at the breaking point, the fate of the inferno was to be decided. It was almost ironic that such a powerful exploration force, for No Endorse at least, was engaging in calm diplomatic talks while soon their people would darken the streets with blood and bile, sweat and tears, debris and empty charges. Planets would be rent, lives tossed to the deep, and stars would run as red as the Dragon's Nest.

What would remain was uncertain, but it was necesary to keep vital functions running even when the future was in doubt. Several soft words from Captain Wind brought the other three to the moment. The craft was nearing the embassy, and they needed to be on their feet. One of the two guards made a last glance at the heavens as he turned back to the job at hand. Lovely sky. Wonder what it looks like over Sanctuary? How many will not live to see the sky ever again?

Captain Wind pulled his cloak a little tighter, ensuring that everyone had their minds focused. "Umm... Computer? Or is there something else I should call you? Anyways, how long until we reach the embassy?"

General Edmund Duke was the first Terran representative to enter. It was his new NORAD IIII that was the Flagship of the Task Group above, and he was followed by the rest of the major players in Terran military and diplomatic matters. Raynor, Mike, Tassadar, Zeratul, Aldaris, Artanis. All were generally large, dangerous, and armed to the teeth, even without any weapons on or about their person. "Well now. Y'all started the party without us." When the Nevam arrived at the embassy Lan exited the craft and was directed to the waiting room. There he joined the others already assembled and bowed respectfully to the representatives, then moved over to the refreshment table. He took a glass of water and moved to the side of the room. He did not sit down, his tail and fins made the chairs common with most other species very uncomfortable.

(ooc: ok for those of you who have interacted with my species before or know anything about them, there is one significant change I have made. Tidani are no longer able communicate vocally in any language other than their own. They 'speak' by telepathically broadcasting thoughts into other's minds. This manifests itself as speach in the listener's native language. The telepathic ability is only for sending, they are unable to read minds or anything like that. They are capable of targeting one individual as well, like a whisper, though this can take place at a much greater distance than a vocal whisper.

Their ability to understand spoken languages has not changed. I am indicating this telepathic whispering using ~~. Thank you for your time.)

Also, if you have books of history we would enjoy a chance to view them. Only by learning of your mistakes can we know you now." He cocked his head towards Jim. "Among others but there is no need to make mention of them here."

On the Sylvanna, a slight commotion had occured.

"Come back here Cypher!" Kahlan excused herself as she ran through the hall bumping into crew members. The little one had just learned to walk and was already getting into more mischief than his father. He had taken a slight fascination to the garbage shute and always wondered where everything went...

"I swear that boy will put me in an early grave."

Lan noted the subtle gesture. ~I will bow to the experience of you in that matter, as I have had no contact with our... friends from the Dominion. I will keep that in mind, and always be warry of to whom my back is turned.~

Richard stood and stretched as the meeting was finally being called to order. He looked over at Jim. "A bit presumptious of them. Perhaps none of us should enter the room then. There is always the chance that you may be called upon to wage war against another. Such is life and life is conflict. The sooner you accept that fact, the sooner you step closer to becoming wiser."

Then, without a second glance, the SeaQuestian captain strode into the room indicated by the representatives of the Warshrike nation and took her seat.

He called out "You need to be careful of our Conrad. He's been known to forget things. Please, come inside and make yourself welcome. The talks will begin soon"

Captain Wind stood, greeting the General. "Hello, I'm Captain Gary Wind of the NES Mantis, No Endorse First Exploration and Discovery Fleet. This here is my communications officer, and these two are part of the marine detatchment onboard. No weapons were brought except for themselves. I'm sorry if we kept you waiting, we were a little slow getting down here."

He motioned the others forewards, heading for the room. It would certainly be an interesting meeting. Why he was doing this was anybody's guess, but the captain of the point ship was always given this duty. The captain and his three accomplices followed him towards the room. All four hesitated at the door, seemingly unsure of exactly what to do. Eventually Wind shrugged, walking in and greeting various other representatives.

Captain Gary Wind thought for a moment deciding what to say. "The Inferno is many things, and is different to each who inhabits it. That is one of our glories. We believe in personal excellence, the stregnth of our people, the great fire of the Forgemaster in the beginning times, and above all, fanatic and undeterred devotion to any cause worth defending. After all, is not a cause worth fighting for, worth dying for? Regardless of the odds, shouldn't one do what is right?" A deadly, almost crazed gleam swam in his eyes. One did not mess with the Inferno, not on a matter it was dedicated to.

"We believe in no less than complete devotion, mind, body, and soul until you have none of the three left. Unfortionatly, there are some who believe that the Terran race is superior to everything, and the extermination of everything non-Terran is a cause worth dying for. Even more unfortionatly, we have been forced to oblige them to protect many others."

"We exist on the outer rim of our Galaxy, in the shadow of the Eshirian Soverignty among others. We are aligned to the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, but have ancestral ties to the Galactic Empire. We also have two International Trade Hub portals. And there is not much else to tell."

The very idea that I should do so merely proves my point. There is no respect for others in the Empire, only respect for power. And then only until a way to take that power can be found. Your people once thought as we do, and once we fought on the same side."

"Temper your falsehoods then Tidani. You apparently have no respect either, so, take your own advice, hypocrite. If someone can take our power, then let them, we will make it bloody and painful, and perhaps, at the end, the Empire may be stronger from our loss, and the rising of a new power. Your Alliance is bound together in weakness, limited by the strength of the weakest among you, we are not so limited."

Richard took a small knife from his sheath. Discreetly as he could, he cut away a piece of the wood and placed it on the floor. After returning the knife to its sheath, Lord Rahl bent down and cupped his hands around it.

Light began to shine from his hands as the little strip began to grow and take shape. Where the small wooden splinter had been now stood an intricatly carved chair with a high back inscribed with many runes that none their could read but himself as it was in High D'Haran.

Richard sighed and plopped down into the chair. "I hope you don't mind if I sit down. I must come to the defense of a fellow nation here Jim. What you speak is true. We are only as strong as our weakest ally. However, through the alliance we can eliminate the weaknesses by aiding them and helping them succeed. We do not frown on the weaker. "You speak of rhetoric. Have you ever seen us actually go out and conquer someone? You have not. You are ignorant of matters you discuss. Any one of you could fall beneath our power, if we so desired it, but instead, peace and cooperation is much simpler. We are but the median of the Empire, there are many more powerful than we, would you speak so if Remiel De Drakan was here?"

"Does this mean that the cleansing of Thrashia was rhetoric?" The fire in the captains eyes was almost unquenchable. "Does this mean that the many who lived on Thrashia Prime were justly killed? No, they died to serve an ideal, one that you have turned your back on. But have we left the Empire even though we disagree on certain principals?"

"If there was an unjust attack against the Empire, we would come to aid you. But you have done no better to the Galactic Federation. If High Lord Remiel, Emperor and Soverign of the Galactic Empire were here, I would embrace him as a brother in arms and my leader, and then speak my mind of the Empire's stances. It is probable that he would kill me for it. But would not deter any No Endorsian in the slightest."

A calm hand landed on the captain's sholder, cutting him short. One of the 'marines' had heard the commotion, and burst into the meeting room. "Calm Gary, your ferver is misplaced." He lowered the fuming captain down into a chair nearby.

"I apologize to all present if he has offended anyone. I am actually the head of the marine detatchment, not an average Joe. I was afraid this might happen, he is intense in his beliefs. He is by no means an extremist, but he is vocal."

"Please pay his statements some heed though. Thrashia Prime was not rhetoric, nor were any of the attempted conquests of numerous other nations the Empire has undertaken. No one here is afraid of the Dark Lord either, and none here would hesitate for a peaceful resolution."

When there are many predators though, even the most numerous ants may be destroyed. And, in fact, we have numerical superiority or parity with any nation here. Can you field as many ships as the Protoss and the Terrans? Have you as powerful Infantry as the ACS and the Templar? I think not. You have many nations, but we are more powerful than any of you individually. You remember the toll we made the Sith pay when we fought alongside you? 75 Star Destroyers. Compare that to our losses, just 15 Battlecruisers, several hundred fighters, and ONE superdreadnought. What can you do against that power?

Richard took the little computer and laid it out on the table. "Much has already been said about the GFFA. Those of us that founded the alliance created it under the guise that we would help the younger races so that they would mold the future of the universe while us older races drift away instead of grabbing for power. Of course, we also take in the strong as well since military power is needed to protect the those that cannot defend themselves. We all watch each other's backs and form a single defensive purpose should an outsider decide to become imperialistic and ravage the younger among us. Everyone is free to trade as they see fit but nothing is forced. There is no sharing of secrets or technology if it is not desired."

"If you try to eliminate us, or betray us within this ship, we would kill dozens, or possibly even hundreds before being cut down. Now, if you do not act against us, we need never turn our guns against you. Were you to join us, and betray the Empire as Thrashia did, or were you to accept alliance with us and attack our forces, then things would be VERY different. But, we do not relish combat. We engage in it of necessity, and when we do, we utterly destroy what we engage, to prevent being forced to fight again. The Galactic Empire is dedicated to control, peace, and cooperation. If you join with us, your safety will be garaunteed, they cannot keep you as safe as the power of the Empire can. If you desire peace, the Empire is also a good choice. And once more, the picture of this 'Empire' seems nothing like the ideals we stand for. I do not think our people would stand for an alliance with you, for some day our paths are bound to cross. You wish betterment to all only if it gains something for you. We seek betterment. For us, for our allies and for our foes. For all life is revered and is to be honoured. Your actions so far seem to be against all that we stand for. We will not fight you, but nor will we fight for you. We pray only that one day you see what we stand for. For those of you who want aid against those who wish your destruction as a race, we will aid you. For those of you who wish anothers destruction, we will halt you. Balance must be kept, and life must be spared. And you say if we join your empire, our safety is assured. Once more we ask you, what do you know of us?? Our military capabilities?? Do you beleive our entire race is aboard these ships?? Have you even seen us in conflict?? You judge what you do not know. Halt your words or the creepers may remove your tongue."

The captain grinned at this. "How true. Got some spare of that? They won't let me away with a canteen anymore. They're afraid it'll be some really good stuff."

"Hold on a sec... HEY MIKE! You didn't bring yer beer wichadidja?"

"Yeah, whatcha want? I got Whiskey, jin, and brandy, sour mash, tequila, white lightning..."

"Gimme the White Lightning you idjit. We want real liquor." Jim turns to the No Endorsian after Mike tosses him the flask, "Hereyago."

Richard picked up another goblet of water and dropped a small pill in. It took some swirling but the water finally turned red all the way through. He looked over at Jim and the No Endorsian. "You can keep your liquor. For me, I'll take a bit of flavored water."

With that, Richard brought the cup up to his lips and drank.

Hornsby nodded in agreement and said, as she got herself some mixed fruit juice, "Not only can an acoholic beverage impair one's judgement, which wouldn't be a good idea at an important meeting like this, but there are many drinks out there that are non-alcoholic and quite healthy."

She turned towards Richard, raised her glass, and said, "Cheers."

"Ma'am, my judgement is impaired enough by the fact that my wife and kid got vaped. I haven't seen her in two years, and I'm three weeks away from the end of my six year tour. Three weeks until I could stay home and just raise a kid. Maybe get a real job, like selling life insurance or accounting. Yet they were hit so hard by a rebel cruiser that the remains consisted of particulate matter and space dust. Two little sips of this won't change a darn thing, especially not considering how much I've drunk in my day. Drinking is a social thing. I'll even drink to your health juice there." He raised the flask and took another swig before passing it back to the Terran. "Thanks."

He immediatly dipped his hand in his pocket and pulled out a small silver case. From it, he removed a pill and popped it in his mouth. "Besides, they make things to counteract the effects of Alcohol. Standard for all Inferno personel, keeps you sober and breaks it down fast." He ate some of the food that the Warshrike had provided gingerly, ensuring that it wasn't going to kill him. Lan just took some more ice water. Tidani didn't share the human affinity for alcohol. Infact Tidan was a 'dry' planet, which is ironic for a planet 90% water, but when you are underwater intoxication can be more dangerous.

IC: Felkner uncorked a bottle of finest hangman (OOC: Medieval boozian slang: one drop and your dead) and dropped a pill into it, which quickly disolved, before throwing it back in three swigs. He could feel scraps of food burning up in his gut. It warmed the soul. Thanks to the soldiers friend (the pill), he was still perfectly sober. His thoughts were, of course, still on Meihm, the reason he was here. They were: Holy shit. These guys are like Boozians on insane steroids. Hicks, basicly, and, wow, can they drink! That's quality! Not to mention their ultra advanced technology. If we could get over this bad start, we could really identify. There was me, thinking only one nation could run an efficient navy whilst binging. And theres is the powerful I've ever seen!

Carefully, he walked over to the Protoss. Boozians respected the sancity of drinking, and anyway, they weren't going to kill him for sneezing.
"Excuse me, I'm from Boozia, and I was wandering what happened to the hulk of Shirp, our battlecruiser. Is that classified, or anything?"

Okay, he thought, new goal, get in with Meihm. I'm sure there not all like those guys. That admiral seemed willing to talk. It'll help if the GE finally responds to our message and we can join, then we can talk with a tad more impunity.

Conrad came over the speaker's once more. "Attention. We thank you all for joining us during these diplomatic discussions. We still regret the conflict above the planet. Now, however, our decision is made, having looked through the data we we're gifted, among other things. So, here we have several factions of this galaxy. Each different, each thinking they are supreme. Each one, no doubt, has commited crimes in the past. So, we come here and say simply we will not judge the past from this point forth. We will judge you from now. As such, we choose to wish to make our allegence within this galaxy with the GFFA. We wish to make a loose NA pact with the GA. We wish you all to join us for the night's entertainments. We haven't had much time to plan anything all to major, but we pray you enjoy!!"
As if sensing his word's, from through the tele-door, appeared entertainer's of all sort's, from ye olde juggler's to men who sparred with many and numerous weapons. Most moved outside with their entertainments. Soon the other civilians would arrive to eat and enjoy the festivities. The flags on the roof and along the walls shimmered and changed to a sort of TV, to gain feed from Zivvaria and the few 'stations' they had picked up in this galaxy. ((Incase you cant tell by now, everything serves more than one purpose.))

OOC:Is there an inhibitor field up?
IC:Felkner sat down and thought about the thing. He didn't know much about navies, but what did they mean to do with the hulk? Melt it down for scrap? Wrong alloys. Refit it? It was almost certainly built in a completely differant way to theirs. Just keep us from salvaging it? Probably.

So now what? It wasn't going to lengthen his career to write a report saying, "These guys have a very overlapping ideology with us, the problem, they killed 9000 men for twitching and one of my colleuges spat in the face of a very senior officer."

And what about the man? If he carried his idea through, Grunning would probably get a mock-up court marshall, be recorded as imprisoned, and given a secratorial job, and perhaps even stamped as somewhat mentally ill on the data file. Alot of Boozian officers got that. It was a tough job, and all the alchohol didn't help.

So, enough about that, who to talk to next. Well, what was their to say? The only people he was even remotely interested in where either the much-used enigmatic elder race or prepared to dismember him for offering the wrong kind of gin. It was here that he began to think about his own future, and specifically, there was no ship to pick him up, and the Meihmish battlefleet was still up there. Crap.
