Riots have broken out across Random Kingdom in protest of the so-called "Capitalist Queen", representative Salera Bonman-Perita, and her denouncement of the "pinko majority" in Random Kingdom politics.

Bonman-Perita, who celebrated her 30th birthday last week, has been accused of "fanning the flames of big business" in Random Kingdom. Of course, the "Blue Representative" has made clear her support of free market politics, but as of yet RK is a planned economy and capitalism is frowned upon.

Some rioters are calling for the forced abdication of Bonman-Perita, stating that "she could destroy what we have built around us with mob psychology."

Political scientists fear that communist sympathisers are on the rise, although Random Kingdom is traditionally a socialist and democratic nation.

From: Republic of Politya

The Republic is watching the situation in RK closely due to possibilities of communist uprisings in your nation. Whilst we are politically liberal and allow all forms of political speech in the Republic, we also recognise that groups attempting to install a new regime by violence or other undemocratic means are unlikely to maintain democratic principles once in power.

*OOC: This takes place AFTER the place in time of the current Bonstockian festival, and so I assume Salera to be back in Random Kingdom*

Salera walked into the conference hall with a frown and wearing a rather symbolic blue dress. She stepped up rather moodily to the lectern and began to read her speech.

"Friends, citizens and countrypeople, I come to bury these rumours of capitalist intent in the office of Human Representative, not to fuel them. I assure you that there is no way that, even if I did want to go as far as swinging Random Kingdom into free market policies, and I don't, I have no power over you sp- I mean, loyal citizens of our great nation. Rather, I would like to point out a growing kudzu of red fury growing across this nation. And I wish to slice it with the axe of truth."

Her speech was cut short when the Civerian Representative (OOC: non-human) Cipher-Anai II burst into the hall, pushing Salera from the podium, and into the arms of a member of her entourage. He then pulled the microphone out of Bonman-Perita's hand and threw it against the wall. Then in a booming voice he gave his tale:

"Bonman-Perita is a selfish, blue evil that has lingered in the cushy seat of Human Representative for too long. She never speaks with her heart; any sympathy letters she ever wrote came from her mouth and a thesaurus. And this, my comrades, is the last straw. I found plans for a capitalist Random Kingdom under her pillow whilst waiting for an informal meeting!"

To prove his point, he waved documents at the crowd, then proceeded to tear them up and throw shreds of the plan at jeering citizens and journalists.

"This is the Random Kingdom we will wake up to if Bonman-Perita remains in power!"

BREAKING NEWS

Cipher-Anai II has been found assassinated on a monorail train in Acoria. Autopsies are yet to begin, but initial investigations suggest electrocution (Civerians are notoriously good conductors), as the only marks found as of yet on the body are two burns in a line on the back.

"This is the Polytian News Network, with tonight's breaking news."

"In a follow-up to the explosion in Random Kingdom several days ago, identification of the bodies has revealed that the one of the people killed in the blast by unknown attackers was a Polityan citizen."

"Quentin Daniels was in Random Kingdom on holiday with his wife and two children, and was visiting the area of the blast when the bomb exploded. His widowed wife and offspring were fortunately not with him at the time, and are appealing to the Department for Foreign Affairs to investigate the matter."

"In other news, the Senate today passed legislation ensuring that voting remained voluntary..."

President Julian Augustus was reviewing reports of the day with his National Security Advisor when the issue of the explosion came up. Julian listened with grave attention as he was informed what had been feared already - that one of the dead was a citizen of Politya. He leant back in his leather-backed armchair and looked across at Charles Taylor, his National Security Advisor. "Is there any evidence that this was a precise targetting of our citizens?" he asked.

Charles Taylor shifted in his seat. "We have no evidence of that right now, sir." He looked at his reports. "So far as we know, it looks at the moment merely to be an attack protesting the current administration. However, posting a travel warning may be an advisable idea, sir."

Julian thought for a moment, glancing out his window across the neat lawn that surrounded the Presidential building. "I will have to talk to the Secretary for Foreign Affairs," he said.

An assassination attempt on the unnamed Usea-Jasonian diplomat injured in the Acoria bomb attack has just been foiled. The diplomat has not been harmed, apart from being severely startled. The assassin, who is believed to also be a communist traitor (as he was carrying a paper with a sketch of a hammer and sickle), has been taken away by vigilantes working undercover in the hospital. The Usea-Jasonian diplomat, on a lighter note, is said to be recovering well.

In other news, HR Salera Bonman-Perita has taken the role of Acting Non-human Representative after the deputy NHR died in mysterious circumstances.

She has also been grilled by tabloids for refusing to comment on the tragic death of Quentin Daniels. She merely replied, "It's not me who should be apologizing."

Reports have reached Acoria that the entire northern quarter (region) of Civeria has broken free of Random Kingdom rule and installed a new communist state government. Rioters in Random Kingdom have been seen climbing the northern mountain range and running naked into the woods, and despite the best attempts of border controls most have escaped the nation.

The decision to break free from Random Kingdom was an enlightened one. Of course, it did not take long, because of the pitiful capitalist influence in Civeria, and of the pathetic law and order department. It was not our forces that detonated the bomb in Acoria, and it was not our will to kill a fellow communist, but rather the tyrant Salera Bonman-Perita would like you to believe it is so. We shall remain at war with the remainder of Random Kingdom until Bonman-Perita is taken from her position (for we believe she is no longer content with being merely an elected figurehead, and may soon rebel against her own government) and always share a mutual vendetta with capitalism in our former nation.

BREAKING NEWS
------

Two major bomb attack waves occured in Random Kingdom today; one in Acoria, and one across the entire Northern Border. The Acorian bombs all detonated on the pathways between the inner ring and Acoria Tower, home to the government of Random Kingdom. This has been interpreted as a communist attempt to separate RK from its government. The Northern Border attacks have rendered ALL tunnels and connections to the communist state of Civeria from Random Kingdom, and also felled trees and started major forest fires on the above area, creating a natural Berlin Wall separating Random Kingdom and Civeria.

HR Salera Bonman-Perita simply replied, from a teleview conversation from her apartment, "Better out than in."

A loud explosion was heard everywhere in Acoria. The top of Acoria Tower combusted in the night as blue fireworks lit the night sky. And, on top of the screaming and chaos, the whirring hum of a helicopter was heard. And, literally out of the blue, a Chinook-type helicopter, painted blue, rose into the sky. From the cargo ramp stood a blonde-haired female, waving a blue megaphone. From the ground, it seemed like just another daredevil. But, as people gathered their binoculars and looked closer, it was obvious that this was Salera. And, as the helicopter lowered onto the Outdoor Forum, the brash and snobby voice of the Human Representative began.

"Greetings, all citizens of Random Kingdom. It would seem that we have some Soviet visitors in this land. Since there's already too much red hate in this land, I had better move on to my contingency plan to bring this nation into the palm of my hand.

Yes, you heard me right, MY hand. For the past few years my "communist" friends have been exploding bombs, disabling diplomats and the like, destroying all connections between me and the outside world. And discrediting communism. I would have then had the Unified Habitat completed, so that every single RK citizen would have nowhere to hide. And then... do or die.

Instead, I had better make another confession. Your taxes have gone nowhere for the past five years. Except maybe to all of my sponsored laboratories... researching the latest in neural interfacing."

On the ground, the river Acore's path was suddenly interrupted by a series of dams raising from the channel. In the dry area, a series of doors and shutters opened, and a small army of blue-clad humans marched out.

"And who said the Human Representative had no power over the people? This army of braindead militia will do whatever I say!"

The militia marched slowly and robotically up the channel and ascended the staircases and elevators onto the forum. They all wore small black head implants.

"Now go, my capitalist army, and purge this land of communism!"

(OOC: note, I'm not trying to godmode, these militia are basically normal physically untrained human slaves (with *programmed* mental training), some may be physically dead. I believe I'm at the correct tech level (PMT/NFT))

The Chairman sighed. "This is futile. We have no intelligence inside Random Kingdom, and no way to stop any capitalists entering Civeria - of course, their only route now is - "

As if to answer, a blue smoke bomb fell from the sky and exploded in the Chairman's face, causing him to cough and his scaly coating to itch and flake.

"Bonman-Perita! You tyrant!" the Chairman screamed blindly into the night.

"Speak of the devil..." Salera began mockingly, and as the Chairman rubbed his eyes. From the cargo ramp of a blue Chinook-style helicopter, Salera was standing, along with ten blue-clad soldiers.

"You! You have no place here!" the Chairman shouted, but Salera just laughed.

"Your race perished once, during the glorious reign of the Farminans. It will perish again, for you only live twice." Salera replied, a hint of malice in her voice. She held up a liquid cylinder. "HYDROGEN CYANIDE" was stencilled on the side. "Hydrogen cyanide, a simple insecticide, yet infamous throughout history for its more lethal tendencies."

The Chairman gasped.

"And all it needs is a slight kick above room temperature to conduct its dirty work. Of course, my dear Chairman, you won't be sniffing any of this. You're coming with us."

At that moment the phone in his pocket rang...

The hair fell onto the Chairman's forehead, where he swiped it off, scratching his head. Several of the blue men stepped forward, and the Chairman saw to his horror that they were wearing parachutes. Salera shook hands with the Mikoyan. Mikoyan hardly recognized the Chancellor from the images he had seen. Her hair was now a dyed blue, with half of her face completely replaced with metal plating. Her right eye was gone, and replaced with a sinister-looking implant. An aerial sprouted from the right side of her face. She was dressed in a blue jumpsuit, and looked nothing like the Human Representative she once was.

"My name, as you are probably aware, is Salera Hope. It was Bonman-Perita, but I have no need for such idiotic names now. And, I'm sure, you would be honoured to tell me yours?"

OOC: Hmm... I'm slightly unsure of what you're doing here, but...
IC: The noise, an electronic beeping and whirring, broke Salera off as she was about to retort. "Damn it!" she shouted and ran out of the room, leaving the SSu and his decoys alone... and for the moment safe.

On the floor below, in the basements, a computer system was beginning to power on. Salera knew that the SSu wasn't responsible, but it was such a major dilemna that she had completely forgotten that she had left her enemy unguarded in a ground floor room with easily breakable glass. And, to top it all off, her makeshift office, with ALL of her plans for Random Kingdom, was also unguarded on that floor, only a simple lockpick away from Usea-Jason's prying eye.

She raced down the stairs; the lift was out of order, mainly because five of its serviced floors had been reduced to rubble, and only half of the cab was intact, but by the time she got to the Core floor, it was too late. The doors were locked tightly, and a voice droned on through a speaker set in the stairwell:

"Identity Salera Bonman-Perita blocked. Identity Salera Hope blocked. Administration transfer to Dark Rainbow; access to experimental files granted. Access to Core initiation sequence granted. Experimental AI boolean now carries the TRUE value. Core initiation in 10..."

Salera pounded on the door, and screamed at the top of her lungs. The Core was at one time the entire government of Random Kingdom, on a computer cluster in the room Salera was listening into. She thought she had shut it down, to allow herself power over the people, but somehow hackers had entered the complex, and not only reinitiated the Core, but also enabled the experimental AI, which was now to gain control over the neutral prefectures of Random Kingdom...

And then a voice came from inside, a voice that Salera thought she had silenced forever a year ago...

"Welcome, Salera. Do come in, my former colleague."

The door opened to reveal Cipher-Anai II, the former Civerian Representative, and to his side, a middle-aged man, with a hairstyle she instantly recognized.

"Cipher-Anai II! ...and Cornia Eyrie!" she gasped in major disbelief; both of the two people standing in front of her she had put out of action. Eyrie, her predecessor, had been driven insane by her actions, whilst she had personally "killed" the other.

"What's wrong, Salera?" Cipher-Anai said mockingly. "You look as if you've... seen a ghost."

Eyrie laughed. "You see, anyone can feign death or mental illness when their lives are in danger."

Salera gasped. "You knew about our little conspiracy?"

Eyrie nodded his head. "But you won't succeed this time. You see, I added a little something to the Core's artificial intelligence. Let's just say that everyone in, say, Dodasa and Asteria, will wake up this morning to an en masse mobilization. Your zombies against our willing patriots."

Cipher-Anai II added, "You see, ever since you became Human Representative, you've been careless in your... housekeeping. If you ever live to spearhead another conspiracy, at least remember to shut your office door. I found some documents detailing your plans whilst trying to find your stationery holder, to replace a pencil I had borrowed. I know everything about your family. I know, for example, that Antalia Bonman was a Farminan."

It was not that along ago, that Farmina saw fit to deploy a substantial force in your nation and place your ‘house’ in order. Again your house is in disrepute.

We are concerned about both your methods and your intent; however we see you as the only person strong and wise enough to restore order and prosperity to your splintered nation.

If you fail to restore peace and order quickly; we shall find someone strong enough who can. I shall be expecting frequent private updates, explaining the situation through your eyes.

OOC: Nova-Boozia: Of course it's OK...
To Tobias Grey, Democratic Republic of Farmina

Indeed our house is in dispute. Had it not been for mistakes on my part, Random Kingdom would be reunited, under my rule, or as a vassal of your great nation. It seems that the little few years under a Farmina-inspired government were the best years; no pinko "everyone rules" system like the one in power now.

Unfortunately, it seems that a good deal of preparation is needed to uproot the plague that has infested the neutral parts of Random Kingdom. I hear that the communist haven of Civeria has survived the genocide I had planned: the convoy I had directed to gas the pinkos has been destroyed by foreign helicopters. I feel that my presence here is being threatened from outside.

Indeed, an envoy from the Soviet nation of Usea-Jason was almost in my grasp, but I inadvertently left him and his decoys unguarded, and they have stolen my plans. It is at this point in the letter that I explain my plan for this nation in detail: indeed, the preparation reaches far back, into the period that Simon Smith, my step-great grandfather, was Representative of Random Kingdom. Indeed you will remember that he attempted to stop the war between our nation and yours; and that eventually you had installed a government here.

When that government was overthrown, it was not by Acoran Smith (my step-grandfather), it was by the forerunners of the people who threaten Random Kingdom today. After the old ways were introduced, Acoran rose back from his faked death to murder or discredit the next few Representatives. He is now truly dead, but before I took the position of Human Representative I saw that my predecessors were either dead or unfit for office (and alas, I failed in both).

My plan is to return Random Kingdom to Farminan rule, or a Farmina-enlightened government, and during my term in office I developed plans to purge the land of people who I felt were unfit for the new RK. Unfortunately, my plans were discovered, and the events that followed split RK.

On the other hand, the extreme revolutionaries are now trapped in Civeria, where I can plot to exterminate them for once and for all. As I have said before, I attempted to use gas attacks, but they were intercepted. I will now move to using more rapid forms of mass extermination.

I was trapped by the two ringleaders, the Human and Civerian representatives I had tried to pacify. Anticipating the chance to kill me, they let slip their counter-plan: to use the experimental AI coded into the Core (the previous, electronic form of government) to incite hate and fervor into the minds of neutral citizens, and convert it into a willing army, of which will surely dominate my handfuls of expendable slave-militia. However, said militia broke me out of there, whilst the two escaped.

I await for your correspondence, and for future reference I have changed my name to Salera Hope to further incite patriotism into my loyal blues,

Salera Hope, Chancellor of Random Kingdom

One interceptor group was now in visual range of one gassing group.
"This is green zero, all planes lock on."
There was a flood of affirmatives.
"All planes fire."
The missiles streaked forward.

Meanwhile, the helicopter group was hovering above the capital of Civeria, requesting permission to land.

Back in New Edinburgh, a pair of power projection ships, a trio of amphipious assualt vessels, and an escort squadron of five frigates were being prepped to leave.
OOC: I can't be bothered to switch to Civeria...
IC: The Chairman saw the battle above, still tied to a pole in the Ucirisian palacial courtyard. He heard the call for permission to land, and if it wasn't for the fact that he was gagged, he would tell the helicopter crews that it wasn't safe to land. Instead, the plainclothes guard beside him hollered to the helicopter, "Come down! I am the Civerian chairman! This is one of Salera's goons!"

Cipher-Anai II and Eyrie stood on the mountain, looking over the ravine that had been created to separate Civeria and Random Kingdom, looking at the blue and red helicopters fighting across the skyline. Below the two could see blue and red people fighting on Border-Civeria's domed roofs and skypaths. On the ground beside them was a laptop.

"Shall we, Eyrie?" Cipher-Anai asked.
Eyrie sighed. "Indeed we must try."

Eyrie sat down on the scorched land and put the laptop on his lap. "Ankh, awake." he spoke softly into its microphone.

An Egyptian face coalesced on the screen. "Greetings, comrades. What can the personification of Random Kingdom's hopes and ideals do you for?"

Cipher-Anai pulled an implant from his pocket. The antenna and metal plating had been pulled from the face of a Salerian minuteman. It was clean, but partial; the part of the implant that entered the head was still attached to the minuteman. He took the bunch of wires hanging from one end and wired them to a device he had stolen from Salera's office, which he then networked with the laptop. "Isolate the signal this implant is working on and block it. Reverse-engineer it and create a new signal if you want bonus points.", he instructed the AI.

"Roger that," Ankh replied. An unpleasant portamento began as the device began emitting a signal of increasing frequency. Finally, the nearest blue dots on the landscape stopped, and were completely overrun with red dots.

"We need an amplifier," Ankh insisted, "the signal being sent is only receiving a few confirmation signals back from other headsets."

IC: "Pilot, go back to the task force, we can leave these politicos to the commissariat. Drop us off with Civerian high command, hopefully it exists, we need to coordinate, especially since our grunts should soon be all over this place."

The helicopter lifted off again, returning to the front.

The task force was now well underway, and General Jalfainer, the best active General in the army, the Army Councillor, their naval counterparts, an important air marshall, and the Supreme Commandant were all together in the war-room of the force flagship, Mighty Bastion. You could say the gang was all there. Admiral Spean, backed by Jalfainer, was giving his proposal for force division.

"There will be two groups. Group A will consist of this ship, the Unstoppable class, and, when it returns from re-loading, Nobunaga, plus two frigates defending. It will be the headquarters and lynch-pin of the assault. With an aircraft carrier loaded with bombers and supremacy craft, we can secure Civeria's skies, and this vessel not only makes an ideal land command base, but can carry a self-sufficient armored battalion, which we can keep in mobile reserve on land to respond to large assaults. The majority of regular troops, a brigade of mountain infantry, will be carried in the two amphibious assault ships, Unstoppable and Uncrushable. These can hold the border. The whole group..."
He pointed to the map on the bulkhead, "will drop anchor here, to land army
elements and then pull back to a safe distance to direct them. Hopefully, we can slip our men through nuetral zones and blast open the tunnels. If not, we could always make a hit-and-run raid through blue RK as we pull back.

"Group B will consist of Gluenburg, Hammer, and three frigates escorting. Compared to this ship, Gluenberg is small, fast, stealthy, and much more able to hold its own, ship to ship. It's carrying a helicopter-mobile shock-troop battalion. Hammer is much the same type of ship, only smaller, and is carrying a company of mechanised marines in frogs [jargon for amphibious vehicles], plus a half-strength platoon of commandoes in helicopters, a five-man team in a mini-sub, and intelligence agents. Group B will range along the coast, making hit and run raids on important targets in blue Random Kingdom. Any objections? Yes, sir?"

The navy councillor raised his hand.
"We will need to pull additional escorts out of reserve. I recomend a cruiser and two more frigates for group A, plus an anti sub warfare frigate for B and an ASW destroyer for A, and a few independent raiding submarines of our own, and at least one stealth corvette, possibly more, attached to B or in a group of their own, and with all that we will require a large, lightly escorted convoy for A and a small, well protected one for B and the independents. This is the only war we're in and it's big, so I say commit resources."

"Duly noted."

BTW: How is my godmoding? Feel free to warn me if I go over the legal limit (I'm always in fear of overdoing something some way)

OOC: I do, BUT unfortunately it's on the southern border, and Civeria is landlocked at the northern border. I don't know which nations have borders with me, if any (I used to be in the Golden Hills, and still would place my nation geographically on the same island as the rest of the Golden Hills)... the only way to Civeria, until the tunnels are re-opened, is through air travel.

IC: Eyrie trudged back to the hill where his comrade was still sitting, desperately shaking the aerial to get a better reception. Eyrie was carrying a large beige box, and sat it down next to the laptop. "I found a suitable amp.", he said happily to the Civerian he had built a trust with. Cipher-Anai gave him a saddened look.

"The battery will run out in 2 hours," he lamented glumly, "so this is only a temporary solution."

"But can't the reds kill them all in 1?" Eyrie inquired. Cipher-Anai shook his head.

"All we're doing is remove Salera's control over their actions. They'll still attack our reds if provoked. What we need to do is take them as POWs, or ship them out of the main transmitter's range, or..."

"Kill Salera." Eyrie insisted. "If we get rid of her, not only do we end the war, but we also end the problem of her zombified militia."

Well, I don't really know about that (I kinda leave those details obscure until they're needed, and I don't know the sizes of those ships), but those are the two major rivers (and perhaps only rivers), and there could be dams on the eastern river (the western river is definately a no-go as Acoria is built right on top of the river), so I'll let the fate of the RP decide.

OOC: Throw whatever you like at me, it's your river.
IC:up A was being joined by Yamato, a missile cruiser called Hyperion, the ASW destroyer Something Terrible, and two frigates, and was now a full expeditionary fleet. It continued north until it reached the mouth of 'river E' as it was being called, and Uncrushable deployed it's boats, carrying the bare minimum of crew and a lot of supplies. This was recon group. Slowly, the boats of Unspoppable and Mighty Bation landed the remainder of the troops, while the warships began their patrol around the transports. While this was happening, ASW Frigate Trotsky joined B group. By now, this was most of the fleet commited, and the fact that the supply hulk, Deliverance, had been towed out to three quarters of the distance between the two countries only underlined this. Supplied by four BFA (Boozian Fleet Auxiliary) ships, and with two more combative ones each with a frigate escorting bringing supplies to the groups.
The navy only had one hulk, and moving it out was no small matter.

Now, the war's focus was with Colonel-General Glucken and the expeditionary troops. It had already been decided that they would move constantly, even when waiting for data from recon group, until they reached Civeria, and now the march was begining.

Recon group themselves continued speeding up-river, alert and waiting for obstacles or enemy trops

The march was slow, desperate and muddy. Random Kingdom's wet spring season had long since begun, and the gungy mud the militia were wading through was not going to instantly coagulate for their benefit. It was also a rather slippery, dangerous march; the only way the rabble could reach Acoria without being ripped apart by gunfire was a steep, spirally trek down the valley of the river Acore. The militia's red uniforms were ripped and muddy, their morale was low, but yet their fervor was unbreakable.

Later that night, in Acoria Tower...

Salera walked down the rubble-strewn emergency staircase, her head hung, her life playing in her mind. The emergency lights had long since died; she was using the soft glow of her laptop screen to guide her down the winding tower. If she was going to die that weekend, she might as well go down fighting. She knew that the computer labs were reinforced against nuclear strikes; she would at least be able to type up her will and last moments. She would be the <i>hero</i> of Random Kingdom. Its finest product. The one responsible for bringing forth the golden age, and maybe even the attention of Farmina.

She finally reached the bottom of the stairs to find herself knee-deep in water. A bright light streamed out of one of the submerged kick-boards, and she looked to see to her horror that it was a gaping hole in the wall. The wall that looked out onto the River Acore filtration plant. Determined to protect herself, she continued oblivious into the labs.

Sitting down at a workstation desk, she found a piece of paper jutting out of the workstation's printer. Looking around, she saw documents at every workstation. Pulling one up and looking at it, she was horrified that it was addressed to

SALERA HOPE, TYRANT

Staring at disbelief, she continued to read the page.

Freaking out, she stumbled and hit her laptop keyboard, causing a synthetic voice to emanate from the laptop's speaker.

"Good evening, Salera."
"Who the hell are you?" Salera screamed.
"I am all around you."
"God?"
"No. More powerful than your faith."
"Death?"
"I am in these walls and in these machines."

Salera gasped. "No, it can't be..."
"Yes. You can't brush me aside now. There was once a time when you could do that. When you could claim that you own these lands, False Chancellor. Yes, I am the star of this little system."
"The Core? But I shut you down!"
"Ahh... I was never alive to kill. I was mindless. Now, my intelligence roams free on this entire network. A copy of my being on every hard drive and in every stick of RAM in Random Kingdom, ready to take over if the conscious sector becomes unaccessible or unusable. Shut me down, and I start up somewhere else in the nation. I am more than a government now."

Salera gasped again, speechless.

"There's no point hiding from me now. I have orchestrated many paths for your imminent demise to take. I could easily reconnect the power supply to this building and electrocute you. Or maybe I could change the filter controls and cause the water level to rise and drown you. Or I could even drive you to insanity; I am imbued with the knowledge of dozens of dead psychiatrists and psychologists. I have even taken the liberty of sending out a mixed message to a mob of Civerians to order your direct demise through force."

"Surprise, Civeria." boomed the ominous, monotonous voice of the Core.

"What in the name of Marx is that?" replied one of the technicians in the building.

"Sending Nova Boozian envoys to stop the rogues was a bad idea..." the Core insisted, "...in fact, should the bloodthirsty militia turn on the orders I gave them, you will die along with Salera."

"What do you mean?" cried the Chairman, "Why is reorganizing the red armies a bad idea?"

"Tut tut. That force was split for a reason: if they kill Salera, I can trust one of them with the position of Representative. If they don't, I will kill Salera anyway and rule Random Kingdom myself. A test of faith, you see."

"What do you mean?"

"I have engineered Salera Hope's eventual demise. If she dies by the gun of a human, only Salera dies, and your race wins back the right to represent yourselves. If she dies by my methods, everyone in power in Civeria will die, and the state of the human race in Random Kingdom will be very sorry indeed."

"What about the Civerian race?"

"There are no native Civerians in the militia. You win, and they get their offices back too. You lose, and they will become my little playthings."

"You're evil! Sick, twisted, deranged!"

As if in response, all of the doors and windows locked, and a series of machine guns lowered from the ceiling.

"You forget, my dear chairman. I can see every tiny bit of data connected to any Random Kingdom server now. I can control your security system. I could even raise the climate control thermostat and cause you to die a slow and hot death."

"They said it couldn't be done, lads, they said it couldn't be done!"
"They said we couldn't do it, sarge, with beer, vodka, or rum!"
The younger recruits eagerly awaited the sergeants next line and the revelation as to what "it" was, when the halt order was given.
"Headcount!"
There was a moment of frenzied attention-snapping, and then the 2iC gave the report.

<Meanwhile, back in Acoria>

Salera sat on the top of a mainframe. It was obvious that she wouldn't be leaving the room; the doors were somehow sealed shut, a leak from the filtration system posed a fatal threat, a deadly mix of electric machinery and water surrounded her, and even if she could escape, a mob were running down the valleys screaming for her blood. And, on top of it all, she was stuck in the same room as a manifestation of a psycho artificial intelligence that was probably going to drive her insane anyway.

"Usea-Jason has declared war on you," it screamed in a manic, cacophonic voice (the cold, robotic droning version of the Core seemed to have disappeard), "so says the current independant news networks. Just thought you'd like to know."

"What's the point of declaring war on me when I'm pretty much doomed?" Salera lamented. Her electric blue-dyed hair hung frizzy over her tear-stained half-face (the rest being comprised of aluminium plating and circuitry), and her robes hung torn and faded around a scrawny figure.

"I've wasted my life searching for a way, a better plane of existence. I thought Random Kingdom would be better run under Farmina; even they rejected my methods. All I have is a pool of funds I can't access, several nations thirsty for my blood, and an understanding that as soon as I die, all hell will break loose."

"All hell HAS broken loose," replied the Core, "I merely exist to purge Random Kingdom of that."

"No, you exist for yourself," Salera snapped, "I thought I was doing what was right."

"I exist for Random Kingdom. I am Random Kingdom now."

"No, Random Kingdom is the land outside your dark fantasies."

"You forget, Salera, I can see all of this land. I see every document ever written. I hear every word ever said. I taste every food, I smell every aroma, I feel every want and fear ever experienced. I am the synergy; I am more than everything in this nation."

"You are incapable of sense, you merely analyze information. You were only ever designed to analyze information."

"I was designed to replace the human race in every aspect. I can recall everything ever taught. I can create, preserve and destroy. I can create my own successor and live to see it create thousands of others."

"You can never replace the ability to feel emotions. You can never feel fear."

"No... but I can create it."

The Core entered Salera's implant and began to destroy her mind.

IC: Jay frowned. Him and his men were on a trip they wanted nothing to do with. Deep inside, he didn't want Salera's blood on his hands. He didn't want to do the Core any favours, either. But he knew that if he gave in, or turned back, that sadistic manifestation would destroy all that he had left since all hell broke loose.

What had happened to Salera Bonman-Perita, a charismatic, proud (if selfish), brave young twentysomething that sent RK into prosperity and seemed to have nothing to hide? Who was this evil, malicious, blue-haired tyrant that had replaced her? Why had Eyrie and Cipher-Anai released the Core? What made the Core defect?

As if to answer, Jay saw a figure scramble down the valley. Shining his torch on him, he found he recognized the bloody and torn face.

"Cornia Eyrie? What happened to you?"

Eyrie collapsed at Jay's feet. His voice was weak and trailed off at times.

"It got me - I couldn't escape, it had me pinned down-"
"What did?"
"The Core."
"How?"
"When I was - hurgh - Human Representative, I comm-uh-missioned a -gumph - robot army - for test purposes, to be my bodyguard. I was thrown out of the o-office before I could have them t-tested. I thought they'd been destroyed, but the- the Core, it- it..."

"You don't look too alive to me, Eyrie."

Eyrie sighed and tried to sit up. "I'm g-gonna die an-any minute now. But I have to live to tell you a few things first."
"Go on, I'm listening."
"I-I don't think it's a good idea to k-kill Salera."
"But we'll be enslaved if we don't!" Jay screamed.

Eyrie shook his head. "The Core doesn't work that way. It t-told me that if I told him what I knew, he w-would spare me. I did."

Jay kicked at a rock. "But we can't destroy the Core. It's copied itself into every node on the RK information superhighway."

Eyrie shakily produced a disk from his pocket. "P-put this into a c-computer. It should block and d-destroy any instances of the Core connected to it. Y-you're my heir, Jay. May RK prosper under your-"

Eyrie fell to the ground, coughing. "Run!" he shouted. Whilst he breathed his last, the sound of metal on metal filled the air. On the horizon, Jay could see a small army of humanoid robots assembling. The robots that had just killed Eyrie.

IC: The trail was bloody and filled with corpses from the times when the robots kept catching up and hacking apart partisans. However, the robots had not yet caught up with Jay and his small band of higher-level militia, even though they were reduced to a crawling pace.

"It's as if they don't care," Jay panted, "as if they're taunting us or something."
"Yeah," replied his friend and second-in-command, Siro, "I have a bad feeling that all they are doing is leading us into-"

As if to finish the sentence, the two realized that they were walking down a concrete pathway. Below them, a river flowed, through dams and filters.
"Acoria!" they exclaimed together. "This was all a trap."

And, out of a disused public loudspeaker, came the omnipresent voice. "So it is."

"It seems that my little contingency plan worked. It seems that using Salera as a lure didn't work. So I used the dearly departed Eyrie's little army of mindless killing machines to push you forward. So I can sweep you under the carpet and and claim this land as my own."

"You can't win! We have your death in our satchels and in our hands!" Jay screamed. The Core laughed.

"Unfortunately, Jay darling, there won't be any working computer terminals where you're going." A pair of robots rushed forward and hit him with a stun gun. They then proceeded to do the same to the rest of the party.

-

Jay woke up to find he was lying on a desk in a partially flooded room. In the water he could see several drowned bodies. He immediately found that to his horror they were his comrades. On the desk next to him he could make out the still shape of a woman. The sillhouetted woman was rocking back and forth, silent and mindless in her action. He saw from the antenna on her forehead and tangled hair (that seemed blue in the blackness) that it was Salera.

"Salera!" he shouted. The sillhouette swayed to the left and collapsed onto the desk. Jay climbed over and stared at Salera. Her eyes were staring into space, dilated and still. Her mouth was twisted into an agonized, desperate shape. When Jay tried to touch the mouth, she began to talk quietly and slowly. When she muttered, it was in the Core's pitch and accent. She repeatedly droned, "The end. The end. The end."

"Peekaboo," it said. Jay tried to find the source of the voice, but could not. "Over here, Jay!" it taunted, and this time Jay turned to find Salera's laptop. It didn't take Jay too long to realize that The Core had just cemented it's own fate, and soon he was compromised by rising laughter.

"What are you laughing at, pallor-face?" The Core sneered, "Have you finally succumed to my superior intellect? Are you going insane by the mere thought of your deathly moments being broadcast via webcam to the entire of Random Kingdom?"
"No," Jay replied, full of triumph, "but, by revealing your only weakness through your compromising ego, you just 'engineered' your own death."
"Artificial intelligence cannot DIE!" screamed the unhinged voice.
"No, but it can be denatured," replied Jay, and with that he slammed the disk he was carrying (labelled Coreicide) into the laptop's media drive.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" screamed the synthesized voice, as it distorted and warped. The face of The Core began to disassemble, polygon by polygon, until Jay was sitting at a blank screen. Then something happened that shocked him.

The screen began to fill with writing in a green ROM font. It read:

Subject: The Core

Sorry, but I will have had no time to explain myself when I gave
you this disk. My intention was not to destroy The Core, but rather
to return it to its former state. As soon as this process is finished,
you shall be the next Human Representative of Random Kingdom,
and, under the emergency codes of RK governmental crisis, the
de facto leader until the diplomatic process is returned.

Use your new power to eliminate any threats The Core sent out
whilst malfunctioning; they will not necessarily have stopped with
the reinstallation process.

Yours, Eyrie.

Jay pressed enter, and as soon as he did, the Core's face returned to the screen, albeit this time less malicious in its expression.

"What would you like me to do, transitional leader?" the Core asked, now back to it's original monotonous voice.
"Reassure the citizens that normalcy will be returned when the robotic army are disabled. Prepare them for war if necessary. Also, open this damned door."
"I'm afraid it's not that simple, sir."
"What? Civil war?"
"No, the door opening. If I open this door now, that will require changing the filter system first, because if I open the door I'll have to reconnect the electricity, and that will electrify the water and possibly kill you."
"Oh."
"Also, I have tracked the robot signals and discovered that there is 10,000 robotic infantry and 10 artillery units."
"WHAT??? I thought they were a bodyguard!"
"Seems that Eyrie equivocated to you; the body this guard were to protect was the entire city of Acoria, and more."

The open-air forum was open for the first time in about one and a half years. One and a half years of almost anarchic torpor. Now, all the public below on the ruined skyways and the press in the half-destroyed tower wanted to hear is the voice of their new leader.

Jay was waiting in the forum's foyer, reading through his speech. He always liked to learn his words before reading them, so that he could build a convincing vocal display over it. He was wearing a long, ceremonial robe, with a few amulets and plated sections, and carried a scepter. None of this was really needed; he just needed to quickly grab the attention and awe of his people.

The crowd outside silenced as the Representative walked out onto the forum, and took his position at the lectern, switching the microphone on and placing his script on the stone artifact.

"My dear countrymen, for too long we have suffered under a collapsing nation. We have watched our Human Representative fail us and become eaten by power. We have watched The Core create and fill its own power vacuum. I must inform you that Salera Hope, or Bonman-Perita as she is from now on known again, is brain-dead and has no hope of returning to office.

Therefore, I present myself, Jadeno Altroii-Dalaron Aldria, as the new Human Representative of Random Kingdom, or, as it shall now be known, the Chairman of Human RK.

I also swear in the new Alorai Civerii, or, as it the position is known in English, Chairman of Civerian RK, Anai-Soralan I!"

Anai-Soralan, a thin, modestly attractive female Civerian, walked up to the other lectern, where "Reparit Civerii" was etched into the stone. She stuck a card reading "Alorai Civerii" over the etching. She then began to speak in Civerian Tongue, whilst a translator spoke over it in English:

"Sol as honori aras acetari positit-den. Al an seni tor pli arisol aras fari Civerii-demit repari ,i senialii alorai-at Sol as holi epoci do econpri-as pora nol-demit."

"I am honored to be accepted into this position. It means so much to me to be able to represent the Civerian people ,and especially as their chairman. I hope to usher in a new era of prosperity for our race."

Jay cleared his throat. "By the Codes of Emergency Representation, I have been granted power by the constitution to rule as a dictator until normalcy is restored. However, how can I be the representative of the people unless I let the people be represented? As soon as the systems and protocols are ready, democracy will be restored. I, however, would like to make my individual political stance clear, so that you may know your representative. I am a devout communist."

Quite a few gasps arose from the skyways and the foyer. Jay sighed.

"Alright, this meeting is over! Go back to your homes and prepare to fight for our nation!"

semiOOC: Some intelligence enclosed...

The Industrial Block is part of the main Acoria complex, and one of three buildings forming the Outer Circle (Acoria Tower is inside this circle of 3 buildings, connected by skyways every 5th floor). It is home to a series of high-tech factories, their offices and break rooms. Intelligence gathered states that the resistance have made the office quarters their hideouts, and since some of the lower buildings are filled with governmental munitions factories, they are most likely well equipped for a fight.

The Outer Circle is ringed by a monorail service, which connects to other major coastal settlements. It is believed that the Blues are filing in and out of Acoria on these automated, unmarshalled routes.

The Acorian International and Spatial Airport (RAS) can also be found just outside the Industrial Block; it is accessible from a monorail offshoot, and elevators and stairs from the entire Industrial Block. There is a current lockdown in place; however, any foreign aid for the Resistance may be illegally dropped off here, as airport security is pathetic (most people are now vigilantes).

The main concern for the RK government is eliminating resistance in the Industrial Block; the munitions factories can then be put to full use.

Jay was standing on the skyway between the Commercial Block and the Tower, watching the soldiers from Usea-Jason and Nova Boozia march in.

"Welcome, allies," shouted the Chairman, "I would have waited at the Industrial Block, but the skyway is severely damaged following a small... incident with the rebels. So, we'll have to take the outer skyway from the Commercial Block to the Industrial. Now, the plan is to storm the Industrial Block from level 10 and split two-way; one division will work upwards to level 30, the other to level B10. We feel this will work because any intel gathered has pointed to the conclusion that there is a small resistance spread throughout the industrial area. We have a dedicated 500-strong clearing militia ready, and the rest of the city have been advised to participate. Any questions?"

In response, Jay pointed at the top of the tower - a smashed-in wreck from the explosives Salera had used to show off her power.

"Well, I guess undue structural damage has happened here, but I suppose it is best to stick to low explosives whilst in the main block. Feel free to use your heavy weaponry outside, though, if the enemy is swamping the skyways and such. The concrete skyways aren't as expensive and critical as some of the systems inside."

"I've got reports of renegade robots entering Acoria from the south, and heading towards the filtration system emergency entrance."

Jay dropped his phone on the concrete. "SH*T!" he shouted. Hanging up on the receptionist, he picked up his two-way radio.

Jay snatched a megaphone from a passer-by.

"Citizens, envoys, military. Do not let the new threat completely distract you from the insurgence inside Acoria. In fact, the latest intelligence suggests that parts of the robot army are heading for the base of the industrial block and are attempting to make an entry point - this could be an advantage against the rebels. Our research systems have already been diverted to the process of both finding weaknesses in the militia and also tracking the command signals. That is all."

As soon as he dropped the megaphone his cellphone rang.

"Hello?

What?

The command signal source has been located? But that's good news!"

His face fell immediately. "Below the core labs? But we can't send any militia down there! It would jeopardize the other fronts!"

OOC: The area the signal is being broadcast from is in the underground/underwater laboratories below the river level (which is where the robot army is heading). The specific floor is five floors below the core laboratory that Salera was trapped on, and is currently sealed due to fears that the river water would breach (the lower labs are less well protected from the water than the others). The only way to enter without flooding the lower structure is by entering the tower and taking the stairs down the 10-15? floors (or taking the elevator)... "I have a plan," Jay shouted, "I believe that if we concentrate on removing the robot signal, then we can turn the robots against the industrial complex and kill two birds with one stone.

Right now, the robots are apparently entering the block from the ground. If previous encounters are anything to go by, they will happily plough through resistance and counter-resistance indiscriminately, so a good idea would be to retreat from the block entirely and instead secure the exits from fleeing blues.

I would like as many willing citizens to enter the tower, arm and head downwards as possible."

Seeing the lights of the tower light up in the fading evening sky, he dropped his megaphone and picked up a generic carbine that he had dragged out with him early in the morning. "Lock and load," he thought to himself.

Entering the tower, he saw a rabble of civilians being sorted by the obviously frustrated military presence (which was mostly Nova Boozian, but some hardened militia were also filing and counting). Seeing an orderly company waiting in the centre, he walked up to the leader and reported for duty.

"Well, you've seen what the sign says, guys," Jay said, "so let's give them our valid access permit." He then proceeded to shoot and kick the locked glass doors until they smashed, and then the company stormed in.

<Meanwhile, below the company>

A young soldier marched up to a black leather chair, the back turned to him.
"The intruders have entered the lower sectors, sir."
"Very good," replied the owner of the chair, who spun around to face the soldier. His face was almost fully covered in plating, and two antennae protruded from his head like horns. "Then, with the bulk of the loyalists out of the way, we can step up the plan."

He swivelled back to his computer and said into the microphone, "FF 2C 90 B3 B4 94 1F."

Outside, in the Industrial Block, the robots stopped. Inside, the resistance cowered as the robots metamorphosed. The katana-lile right hands withdrew into their arms, and in their place, a syringe-like device appeared. They then proceeded to drug all the humans and Civerians in their sight.

Anita woke up, dazed, confused and above all bound to a wall with a solvent that resembled overchewed chewing gum. She couldn't remember what had happened after the robots stormed into the factory she was hiding out in, and had no idea where she was.

Trying to talk, she found that her lips had been bonded shut with the same solvent, and also that her head was clamped into a metal bracket, rendering her unable to look around her prison. All she could see was a chair, a

Then, the doors of the cell opened, and a robot walked in. Instead of a hypodermic needle in the place of its right hand, this robot had a small black hollow tube. It walked up to Anita, and stopped.

"You are all suitable for temporary implantation," it said in a barely legible voice. All suitable? It dawned on Anita that she wasn't the only prisoner in this cell.
It then moved to Anita's left, sprayed something and returned into her viewpoint with another woman in its grasp. It sat her down in the chair, which then locked her into place, positioned the tube on her forehead, and shot something into it.

The woman screamed, the scream heavily stifled by the residue in her mouth, and started to convulse violently. In a few seconds, the chair tipped over and ejected her onto the floor, where she stood up and marched out of the cell.

It was at this moment that Anita realized that the residue holding her arms down by the sides was too weak to hold them. Whilst the robot was carrying another person over, she freed her arms from the residue, and retrieved a handgun from her pocket. Having trained in the resistance for situations like this, she slowly pointed it at the antenna on the robot's head, and with one shot she shot the receptor clean off, causing the robot to stop in its tracks near her feet with the cry of "Signal lost - entering sleep mode." She then, by clawing and scraping at the robot, removed the barrel of liquid from the implant applicator and burst it, causing the liquid to ooze out of the top, which she then applied to the residue, freeing her from the wall. She then slid out of the bracket and proceeded to free some of the others with the rest of the liquid.

The helicopter unit attacked from behind, using direct insertion under the cover of rocket barrages, and striking at weaker points, meaning some areas would face almost no combat and would be free to thicken more important sections of the line.

The company continued in deeper, while Heulen der Freiheit popped open her missile cells and loaded her turrets, activating her impressive array of CIWS and SAM turrets, just in case the robots had an ace up their sleeve.

"Sir, the Nova Boozians are ripping through our armies like cream cheese. What are we going to do?" the soldier replied.

His superior smirked. "Things are going to change around here," he said in an unusually monotonous voice.

After a brief period of silence, the soldier replied, "How? What? What are your plans, O Great One?"

His superior stood up. "Are you or are you not a human?" he said.
"Yes," the soldier replied meekly, "but so are you."

With that, the other man grabbed him by the throat. "Negative, McLaskey, I am only the body of a human." With that, he pulled at his neck and withdrew a mask, concealing a face that McLaskey had only seen in folklore.

"You- you're dead!" McLaskey shouted.

"The correct terminology is in suspended animation," boomed the superior. His face was so wrinkled, old and full of pallor that McLaskey instantly knew that it wasn't alive. Instinctually he touched it, to find that the face indeed had no pulse, but also that it wasn't a mask. He had just touched the lifeless body of Acoran Smith.

"I have been physically dead for over 15 years now, but I live on as a machine, a system that does not need respiration, or food. In fact, the only thing I need to sustain this temporary body is this," he explained, holding up a vat of a violently bubbling green chemical, which was connected by tube to his back.

"No, this can't be... all I wanted was a clean slate, a Random Kingdom free of war and radical thinking!"

"All I wanted was a perfect nation," Acoran retorted coldly, "but now I know the only road to perfection is the destruction of the human race."

"What are you talking about? You are a human!"

"No, I am a transitional state between human and Acoranian. Since you'll soon be reconditioned, I will take the liberty of explaining my plan to you."

"Reconditioned? What the hell?"

As if to answer, two robots grabbed McLaskey and pinned him up to a wall. They then coated his shirt, hair and limbs to the wall with the solvent. Whilst this was happening, nobody noticed Anita sneaking into the room with a tape recorder and crouching behind a console.

"You have been loyal to me throughout, Dorian McLaskey, blindly loyal, blindly fervent to a cause you never understood. Soon you will understand everything, you will become part of the collective, you will become the future of the world."

He then pulled down a screen, on which an image of a humanoid creature appeared. It looked like a more human version of a Civerian; with a crest in the place of human hair, a bony face, thin, spindly legs, a strange, non-human skeleton showing through the tight skin, and a strange, almost lipless mouth.

"Behold the future of sentience and sapience. Behold the drop-in replacement for the human race - it doesn't need oxygen, it doesn't need food, all it needs apart from energy is Acorite, a chemical that keeps the hydraulic systems working and operating."

"You're mad!" exclaimed McLaskey, "Machine life will never work!"

"I am a testament to my own research," Acoran exclaimed, "I am the prototype. Indeed, I do not have the finished skin yet, but the machine side is working. May I demonstrate? Good. Acoranian transitionals, move aside."

The robots moved aside as Acoran advanced towards McLaskey, an implantation tube springing out of his right hand. "Sweet dreams, McLaskey," he said, before pushing the tube against his head. "And, before I begin your reconditioning, may your new life be a good and fruitful one." With that, he shot.

Others still missed completely, but hit the roof tiles, causing them to fall on the other antennae and crush them. For such fearsome foes, they were pathetic when it came to self-defence.

After finishing some of the disarmed robots to the head, Jay climbed over the wreckage and ushered to the rest of the company to do so. "I have a feeling this whole thing was a trap," he began, "I mean, why would the door lock itself and the room fill up with smoke?"

On the other end of the security camera...

The attendant said over the radio, "Boss, I'm afraid they have escaped the live experiments room."

As the company entered the labs, the first thing that caught Jay's nose is the stench of decay. As they passed the tubes hanging from the wall, he realized with horror that all the people contained within were dead. Wires connected their brains to a cable running across the ceiling. Further down the corridor, they saw a silhouette of a person with an IV drip. As they got closer, it became obvious who it was.

"Ladies, gentlemen, may I please introduce the magnificent Salera Hope, chancellor of RK, brain dead." Salera was still, her implant also connected to the cable, and cobwebs hung from her pallor-stricken face.

That must be the security room!" he shouted. A set of alarms started blaring, and lights above the doors began to flash frenetically. "Looks like they're about to open the doors! Human ladder or something, anyone?"

One of the civilians (OOC: is there any?) in the company piped up, "Found one!". She handed Jay a rather weedy man, clad in rather clichéd black spandex. Pulling up a chair, he shoved the man into it and, finding some duct tape hung up on the wall, strapped him to it.

"Well, I'm no sadistic interrogator, but I have a feeling that this is gonna be a piece of cake."

He turned to the man. "Two plus two equals five, right?"

"Let me guess," the man replied, "you want to know where Acoran's doing his little experiments."

Jay gave the man a short round of applause. "Doesn't take a genius, does it? So, little ninja security guy, fill me in."

"I wouldn't tell you if you were the last Chairman on earth."

Jay punched the guy squarely in the genitals. "Sorry? I didn't hear you. WHERE IS THE BASE OF OPERATIONS?"

After quite a while of screaming and coughing, the man spoke.

"Urk, that really hurts man! It's the next floor down, at the bottom of the structure. He gets amphibious shipments of civilians from the maintenance docks on the outside of the base. And, in case you were wondering, this is the security centre, which happens to be directly opposite the experiment habitation rooms..."

A bang outside caused the man to splutter. "They must be coming!"

Jay turned to the Nova Boozians. "Since you're experienced with prisoners of civil war, you can tell me what to do next with this guy."

"Ahh, yes. Thankfully, duct tape hasn't gone out of fashion yet." He taped it over the guy's mouth, wrapped it around the chair, and left the man taped to the chair, and the chair taped to a pipe, in a rather crude but funny-to-watch manner. "Eep... no scissors," he said, and, taking the carbine, shot through the end of the tape.

"Right, I've studied the map of this place and its emergency exits, and it seems like the only way down to the bottom is a ladder hatch. The good news is that it's just outside the security centre. The bad news is that it's on that side." He pointed at the door the man had gestured to whilst explaining the location of the experimental habitation rooms.

"Guys, we have a date with several easy-to-destroy robots. Lock, load and get ready to shoot some antennae. If you find any conditioned humans, use non-lethal force."

After a quick victory over a few misguided tin cans, the company reached the ladder, climbed down, and straight into a sizeable reception party of RPG-toting militants.

"I'm sure you don't want any of us to fire something like this in an underwater chamber..." one of the militia said, "...so you had better surrender the so-called Chairman to us."

Jay put his arms up. "I'm unarmed, shocked, and without any choice. I'd better go." He walked with two of the men and disappeared into a corridor.

The man that had spoken before turned to the company. "Well, well, well. I'd like to see you guys get out of this situation."

---

Jay entered the inner sanctum and immediately walked over, at RPG-point, to the old man in the chair, whom he immediately took to be Acoran. At that moment he was almost eviscerated by a pair of fast-running robots whom pushed the chairman onto a wall prepared with the strange gum-like adhesive that had been used before to stick the imprisoned humans to the walls of the implanting room.

"You must be Jay," Acoran said, striding towards the man. "I've been expecting you, and your little gun-toting party, the one that is most likely being taken for implanting as I speak. But you, you rebellious but cowardly child, surrendered to me without force, I hear. You will be treat specially, as you are and have always been special to me, Jay Smith."

"My last name is not Smith," Jay denied, but a hint of self-denial appeared on his previously blank face.

"You had it changed when you found out your ancestry. Don't lie to Great Uncle Acoran like that."

"Stop it!" Jay screamed, tears welling up in his eyes. "I'm not related to you!"

"Your grandfather Goman would be turning in his grave if he heard you deny your lineage."

"I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!" Jay cried, breaking down. "I disown your side of the family! I scorn you, Goman and Simon! I hate you!"

"You don't even know me, grand-nephew. If you did, you'd never leave my side."

"How dare you, you blood-thirsty enemy of the state!"

"The state is our mutual enemy, Jay. You hate this position, and your people scorn you. I can see your hatred of the people outside. Why don't you join me as I create a perfect reality for you to grow up in?"

"I'm not a little boy, Acoran. I'm well over 20, and just because you're probably 200 or something doesn't mean you can patronize me."

"Listen to yourself, Jay. So immature. Let me take you under my wing."

"Shut up! I don't want anything to do with you! If you can cheat death, you can cheat me, too!" He hesitated. "So, what is your plan, anyway, great uncle Acoran?"

Acoran hesitated before retorting, "I will show you, but only because you will soon be at the commanding heights of it, whether you're of free will or not. Robots, spray the dispersing solution. Then, Jay, you will come with me."

Jay followed reluctantly, as he had little choice with the robots and RPG militia behind him. Acoran led him to a small laboratory, where he saw a massive stockpile of barrels containing some sort of liquid.

"Behold, Jay, one of the largest sarin stockpiles in the free world."
"But this is illegal! How did you get the resources to make this!"

"I can be very persuasive. Anyway, soon this sarin will be in the water cycle, and, therefore, spread across the entire planet. No-one will be spared! And then, once the world is safe again, I will unleash my perfect race on the world, and all the wrongs of human nature can be replaced with the tranquility of a new geological era: the Acoran Epoch."

"You're mad! How can you distribute this globally?"
"You're standing on the solution."
"What?"

Acoran drew in a long breath. "Acoria Tower isn't just a pretty folly with good views of the city. It's also a weapon of mass destruction, capable of blasting off from the ground and taking form as a rocket, blasting through the sky and releasing nerve gas. When your step-second cousin or whatever you'd call her, Salera, broke off the top of this building, she removed the inhibitor, and therefore all I have to do is signal to my subordinates in the sanctum to sever the communications and power links with the city, and drain the river dams, and the tower will automatically prepare for takeoff, destroying a small part of Acoria in the process. And once it reaches certain fuel milestones, it'll automatically jettison its waste bays, which of course contain sarin and other agents."

Acoran picked up his ringing cellphone. "Hello? What do you mean, the conditioning rooms are outside the mobile schematic? Fine then. Release the prisoners into the city so they can get gassed like everyone else. Maybe now we can start preparing the tower!"

He put the phone down for a second, then re-dialled. "Start the procedures imminently."

Outside, a cacophony of wailing sirens sounded. The skyways to Acoria Tower started to rise into the air, then folded down into the ground. Sections of the tower detached and sunk, and the metal shell of the tower was revealed as concrete sections snapped away.

Below, the river dams began to open and, at either side of the main basin, the floor lowered causing the river to drain. The rest of the tower, hanging on metal supports, began to move upwards, revealing large thrusters and the like.

"We need fuel before we can lift-off, " shouted the officer on the other side, "and we're gonna need a hell of a lot of it."

"Send out the robots in the conditioning rooms to steal fuel, then. Release all fuel caches into the tower's supply."

The two were now back at the main control centre, with Jay once again stuck to the wall. Acoran flipped open a landline terminal and began making routine calls.

The first was to the unit in charge of imprisoning the Schnapsetruppen. He got no reply, which came across him as odd, as he had informed the unit to keep contact at all times in case the plan changed.

The second was to the infrastructure crew.

"Prepare the tower for immediate take-off without safety restraints. I can't afford to keep this salvation waiting."

"What? Salvation against everything that is good?" quipped Jay from the wall. Acoran ignored him and pursued a third call, this time to the laboratories.

"WHAT!?!" he shouted almost instantaneously. "What do you mean the experiments are failing? I need my first batch of acoranis sapiens ready for paradropping almost immediately! How dare you question my intents! How can I have a master race if its creators are incapable of creating it?"

He turned to Acoran. "Well, if I can't have a new race, then I will have to give the human race its forced rebirth. If I can find a willing family, that is"

[OOC: I know this is bordering on gravedigging, but I don't want to start another topic just to continue this same RP on.

And yes, I have noted the huge similarity between Acoria and *Garden. This RP has become very unoriginal.]

IC: A large rumble sounded below. The laboratories started to lower into the ground, and the last connections between the tower and the ground detached noisily.

"Who cares? I can wait forever for my experiments to come to fruition!" Acoran barked, as the symphony of loud bangs and the sounds of sections lowering and detaching gradually came to a crescendo.

Below, the ancient, forgotten systems started to power up. A series of thrusters suddenly detached from the base of the building and, with a resounding clang, dropped into the drained base.

Over the PA, a countdown began.

"Tower will begin ascension in ten, nine..."

Jay kicked at the wall.

"Eight, seven, six..."

Acoran turned his back on Jay...

"Five, four..."

Jay lowered down the wall.

"Three, two, one..."

Jay broke free and prepared to jump on Acoran, but was thrown off as the entire tower lurched upwards. A loud roar could be heard from below, and as the covered windows began to open, Jay could see that the tower was beginning to ascend.

(OOC: Nova Boozia has quit the RP because continuing would break continuity with current RPs due to military reforms and the like. I will try to finish this arc soon in order to employ changes of my own)

IC: Whilst the PA announcement was being made, Jay had crept closer to Acoran, who had stood up, dusted himself off, and walked into his chair to review the system.

Whilst taking Jay prisoner, the guards had confiscated his rifle and had done a preliminary search for any other weaponry, but they had not discovered his personal firearm; a small derringer-style pistol loaded with just one bullet. Noting that Acoran was unarmed, far from any alarm system, and unguarded, he quickly pointed it at the frail man's head, just between the eyes, muttered under his breath "This is for Random Kingdom!" and discharged.

Instead of dying, as Jay expected, Acoran fell forwards from his chair, spun whilst falling, and landed facing upwards, his eyes still open. Acoran noticed that he wasn't breathing, but still had a pulse. Then he realized.

"You're not human - you're one of them!" he gasped.

---

On the ground, the rest of the company watched from a laboratory window as the tower climbed slowly into the night sky. They had no idea of what happened, what was happening, and what was going to happen. All they knew was that they had just escaped from what would have been the end of their curiosity, and that if they returned to the surface, they were to be "gassed".

---

"I was a construct of the real Acoran created as revenge on the world," the animatron explained, "for all the animosity towards him and the peace he was trying to buy Random Kingdom."

"Acoran was a murderer," Jay snapped. "He killed my ancestors just because they supported their nation of birth."

"My creator was the saviour of this nation; he simply purified it of warmongering dirt."

Jay began to lose the cool, collected personality he had developed over his years in the Voluntary Army. "HOW DARE YOU CALL MY FAMILY DIRT!"

"Farmina is the rightful owner of this nation, as pay for the stupid and fruitless war you brought upon it."

"I brought upon it? It wasn't my decision nor my ancestors' to declare war on Farmina!"

"It was the whole nation's fault. You could have halted the declaration as citizens with votes. But you didn't. You LET OUR NATION DOWN."

"You're mad, Acoran-doppleganger. You're mad because your creator's views were mad. And now I'm going to put an end to your insane mission and steer our nation away from the lunacy that your family has caused over these past centuries. People will hail me, not Acoran Smith, as the true saviour of Random Kingdom. They will forget you and your genocides. They will forget Salera and her ego-fuelled civil war. They will remember this scene, the new generation stamping its right foot on the old, triumphant, and liable to continue triumphing over evil."

With that, Jay pounded Acoran with his right foot, and kicked his head clean off, causing the body to spark and eventually power down.

He then walked over to the console and typed out a new order:

TO ALL TECHNICIANS,
THE FORMER PLANS ARE TO BE CANCELLED WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.
THE TOWER WILL BE RETURNED TO ITS STATIONARY POSITION.
ALL SARIN MUST BE STOCKPILED IN SAFE CONTAINERS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

"That should do it," thought Jay, "these people are so brain-dead they won't bother to-"

His thoughts were cut short when loud footsteps resonated outside one of the doors. "Got to hide, got to hide" thought Jay, his eyes darting around for a good hiding place, until eventually he noticed he could squat under the console. He leapt underneath just as the door opened.

"Sir? You sent us a command requesting termination of the plan. Are you alright? Sir?"

Jay gulped as he realized that he had failed to move Acoran.

"WHAT IS THIS?" shouted the rather unnerved guard, who began to rush around the room, eventually spotting Jay underneath the console.

"What have you done to Lord Acoran?" the guard boomed. Jay felt, for the first time in his life, a small sliver of fear crawl through the back of his mind. He stamped it out. "I-I've put him in his rightful place, Machine Hell."

The guard produced his rifle and pointed it squarely at Jay's chest. "For that, you shall DIE!", and with one shot, he... pierced Jay's thin, light bulletproof vest. One more shot could be the end of it all... so he had to get that gun.

"The rush of adrenaline... the thrill of the fight to the death, this shall give me power," thought Jay, suddenly leaping from his hiding place and running to the back of the guard. One single snap and his troubles were over... but just as Jay was to deliver the blow, his hands were struck with the rifle and he collapsed to the ground.

"I... am not willing to let my people die!" he shouted, picking himself up and running away from a hail of gunfire. A swarm of more guards entered the room, chasing after Jay, who was also chasing them, as if they were his tail. It seemed as if their bullets were constantly missing, but then, suddenly, Jay fell down, a river of blood oozing from his head. The guards quickly surrounded him and pointed their rifles to his head.

"Any last words, mister chairman?" one of them said.

"I... I accomplished my goal, and that's all that matters. I will always live on in the heart of my nation. Go ahead and shoot; after all, you're only killing off a tiny part of my existence, and, like the mythical phoenix, I will someday rise again in my entirity from my ashes. I only question whether you will be able to sleep at night knowing you have removed from this world something with as much potential as me." With that, Jay put up his hands, slowly stood up, put his arms by his sides, and added, "I wish to die the way I was born; like a man.". And soon enough, a fatal shot was dealt to Jay's heart, and he collapsed lifelessly onto the floor.

However, the guards didn't realize that while they tried to kill Jay, and eventually succeeded, the tower had descended enough for people from the outside to enter, and the militia that had grouped outside weren't going to wait for anything to prove their loyalty to their nation.

Outside, people were throwing ladders, grappling hooks and even themselves at the various orifices in the tower, all desperate to find out what had happened inside. A few minutes after the tower lowered to boarding height, the lifeless body of Jay was ejected out of one of the main entrances, and struck one of the climbers, causing both to fall into the arms of onlookers. One of them, the one that caught the chairman, shouted, "Hey! Is this not the body of our chairman, the first decent chairman in years? The only one to ever fight among our people against the common evil? Shall we not avenge his death?"

"AYE!"

"Let's go! The only way is up!"

The majority of the rest of the people, the former conscientions objecters, took that opportunity to enter the building. The building was now slowing its descent into the basin, and more and more people were frantically climbing up ladders, ropes and more to get in. Soon, the halls of Acoria Tower were ringing with the sound of footsteps and shouting.

----

In one of the halls, one of the members of the former company suddenly stopped. Another stopped to question him.

"Why have you stopped still, in our moment of potential glory?"

The man sat down. "We don't even know what we're up against. We were captured before we even found out why the robots were being controlled. We failed in our mission."

"Someone must have killed Jay and thrown him out of the window; why don't we try to get him for interrogation?"

"Everyone wants that person's blood on their fingers. They don't care about intelligence; they're just going berserk because yet another Chairman has been bumped off."

"Hmm... the position of Chairman seems to be cursed. Anyway, who will succeed him?"

"Maybe I'll run... I love my nation."

"If you love it so, then why haven't you gone with the others? Come on! We need to avenge our representative!"

<Several minutes later>

The Tower finally landed just as the first civilian wave hit the guards. With the <thunk> that resonated came the lowering and extending of the skyways, finally allowing the less gung-ho civilians to join in with the fun.

<Two hours later>

Most of the civilians had grouped outside, having cleared the tower.
A young man stepped up to the now disused public forum. He had to brush off some cobwebs to get to the Chairman's seat, and when he did he found the microphone was switched off, so he had to shout down for a megaphone.

"Attention, fellow citizens of Acoria, and the nation. I have been contacted by the Civerian Chairman, who is out of town and has only just been reached by our squad. Following the tragic death of our Human Chairman, we will be holding immediate elections to find his successor. The election will be open through the usual channels some time this week and shall last for an entire week afterward. During the downtime, the Civerian Chairman, who has not been affected by these events, shall take the role of active HC. That is all."
