Oil Crisis in Maraque

Maraque
27-01-2006, 10:13
Ankartha, Maraque - THE DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED FOR MARAQUE. It has run out of oil.

The Kingdom is under extreme pressure to find nations willing to export oil. Just 16 hours ago, Maraque has seemed to run out of oil. The reserves are suppose to last 6 months - on a population of 500 million - but Maraque has a population 4 times that amount now so the reserves are out of the question.

The economy has grinded to a halt. The transportation system is completely out of commission, people are walking several miles to work to preserve the gas they have left in their vehicles, and looting all across the country has become so out of control the police can't stop it.

Message to: Nations of the World
From: Darius Shulze, President of the Constitutional Monarchy of Maraque

Dear leaders of the world,

Any nation willing to assist us is urged to contact our Finance Minister to set up talks. We're willing to pay any price necessary so that our country doesn't fall into anymore economic trouble than it is currently in. We're in dire need of 155 million barrels of oil daily. Thank you.

As representative of my government, I wish to know whether you intend to barter for your needed oil levels with the private sector. Although my government is prided on positive relations with all nations in the world, I feel it is neccessary to say that your capitalist market approach to the non-renewable situation which is the oil crisis has caused this economic problem for you. Full nationalisation of oil industry is the only way to truely put your government in full control of it's own resources. Of course should you undertake such actions my government would be more than willing to provide heavy police and paramilitary support for dealing with looters and seditionists. I feel that a long term solution is in order here for your economic problem, aid can only be provided under our terms of course though.

- Michel Andreas, Foreign Affairs Minister, Socialist Republic of Andaras Prime.

The Federation is rich with offshore oil deposits, and would be willing to trade for them. We as a nation are poor in farming and food supplies, and must import most. If you happened to be abundant in those areas, or had other products which the FedAB may find useful, then we would be willing to talk terms of trade.

The Kingdom would be rather pleased to trade food supplies with your nation in return for oil. What will you need? We're overstocked with a variety of foods that are ready to go at moments notice.

---------
TO: Chief Governor Dunan Ruu

The Kingdom has just passed emergency legislation and the construction of hydrogen stations are in the works as we speak. We accept your offer.
---------

The looting and rioting has subsided over night and everything is relatively peaceful as the first day passes.

The Government is starting to bring people to under-ground shelters used in the case of nuclear attack, which will keep them warm for the winter until Maraque finds a new source of energy.

To Darius Shuzle, President of the Constitutional Monarchy of Maraque,
From Mikhail Yukos, Chairman of Prussiatopian Oil (former 'Arctivene').

As chairman of Arctic's largest state-owned oil company, we're willing to let you explore north-slope Alaska for any amounts of oil up to a limit of 5 million barrels per day, free of charge.

If you require more than this, prices/tarrifs will go up as so:
>5 million bpd, $10/barrel.
>10 million bpd, $20/barrel.
>20 million bpd, $40/barrel.
>40 million bpd (I trust you needn't go this far), real market prices (it's something at the moment like $67 per barrel, isn't it?) with 20% added on for shipping and taxing, etc.

We would gladly like to do business with you, but we require just about 155 million barrels of oil per day. 40 million wouldn't barely suffice we're afraid.

To Darius Shuzle, President of the Constitutional Monarchy of Maraque -
We are providing you the reduced rates for natural gas as a gift in your time of need; therefore, it will not be necessary to repay us for the extra money. We're wealthy enough as it is, and it is a duty, as men like Andrew Carnegie showed, for the wealthy to help those in need. We hope that, in less dire straits, you will continue to purchase DuPont gas and consider us for your plastics needs. Thank you.

Dear: Maraque
From: Chief Governor Dunan Ruu

I would like to congradulate you on your acceptance of this offer. We would gladly like to send officials to your Nation via C-141B Starlifter. They would be loaded with equipment to assist your construction of Hydrogen Reactor Plants, or help you build any should you desire to, and include plans and actual engines from our ACH-24 Hygie Turbo civilian Hydrogen Fuel-Cell engine's.

We could also include our own Hygie Craftster vehicles, which can be given in Manuel and Automatic, 4 by 4 and so on. We guaruntee the Fuel Cells will last for over 200,000 Miles, considering the engine gathers Hydrogen from its core and the air, and we would gladly assist in building Automotive Plants in your nation.

This will be of no cost, only asking that our Diplomatic Relations would greatly increase from our generous offer. I assure you, this is no Futuristic things, just NEAR post-modern, and they can run out.

Thank you for your time, and we await your response via Telegram or here.

The Kingdom would just like to thank all nations which have offered to help in Maraque's most harsh hours.

We shall accept all nations offers of oil, hydrogen and anything of the like, for the exchange of anything of your individual needs and/or liking. Curona International Airport is currently the only main airport still open, so any supplies being flown will have to land there, and any supplies by sea can either sail to Westhampton or Atrons. Thank you all for your huge support.

Life in Maraque is slowly, but surely going back to normal life, as construction of Hydrogen Plants are under way, fueling stations are being built, and the overwhelming supply of oil we've recieved from nations across the globe has helped Maraque become active again.

To Darius Shuzle, President of the Constitutional Monarchy of Maraque,
From Mikhail Yukos, Chairman of Prussiatopian Oil (former 'Arctivene').

We've realised we wouldn't profit from this if the prices were too high for your demand, we've changed the prices as so.

>5 million bpd, $1/barrel.
>10 million bpd, $2/barrel.
>20 million bpd, $10/barrel.
>40 million bpd, $20/barrel.
>100 million bpd, $25/barrel plus 20% Prussiatopian Shipping Tax (totalling $30).
I say it would be cheaper to make many Individual orders of 5 Million BPD rations.. I'll give that advice to you since you're in crisis. Example.
If 5 million = $1/barrel, $1 x 20 (which would make 100 Million barrels) = $20/Barrel for 100 Million barrels.. It makes your order $5 cheaper to the barrel.

(notice that '>' sign? Means more-than, IT MEANS YOU CAN BUY MORE THAN THAT FOR THE SAME PRICE UP TO THE NEXT MILESTONE, hope that clears everything up.)
Also in return, we demand exploration of your Information Technology markets.

From: Constantino Sorantanali, Prime Minister-Designate
Democratic Capitalist Republic of Pacitalia

Signore,

I am relieved to hear that the economic crisis in your country has subsided and that life is returning to normal. We, in the Democratic Capitalist Republic of Pacitalia, found your calm and collected handling of the energy crisis quite admirable. That said, I would like to extend to you an explicit invitation.

Should a similar scenario occur in future, Pacitalia, a member nation of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), will, under my command, be willing to supply your noble people with a sizeable amount of daily petroleum capacity. A reasonable tariff would be attached to this provision.

Please take all the time you need to determine whether or not the Pacitalian offer is suitable to your requirements. Our nation does not produce the most petroleum, by far, but we do produce good-quality supplies and we look upon your nation with respect and admiration, especially after your management of this most recent economic emergency.

My best to you and the people of Maraque.
