Obelisk; Yurka Opens up Diplomatic Talks with International Community

OOC: Alright this is essentially my way of semi-opening my nation up to the international community again. After over a generation of isolationism they're rather arrogant though, so ignore what they say IC @_@. IC:

"Truly, if there is evil in this world, it lies within the heart of mankind."
Edward D. Morrison

~Obelisk; Section 8~

The room was, essentially, an illusion. A black table with a small group of men and women seated around it, while the backdrop of the universe surrounding them on all sides, slowly moving around them. It was essentially only for appearance, but this group of people actually believed that they were the center of the universe, or at least the relevant portion of it.

They were all robed, though the hoods were down, showing off the groups startling features, and almost uniform long hair. Most was black, though in the group of eight there was also a white and blonde in the group. At the front of the table, staring at a group of documents in front of him, sat the Emperor of Yurka. He was not very like his ancestors, but still managed to control the populace due to his nearly unreal charisma. However, behind his dark, almost innocent eyes, it was not hard to tell that something almost sinister, or perhaps even insane was constantly forming and reforming.

"Now... To tell you all why I've summoned you to these chambers..." He finally spoke, smiling faintly as he looked across the faces of those in the room, his expression unwavering, not even changing in the least as he continued to speak in cool, preplanned tone of voice, "Obelisk's projects are slowly moving forward, but it has come to my attention that even with all of our researchers, some help from the foreign community may help progress things even further."

The room remained quiet, some of the group began to look at eachother in bewilderment. Talk with foreigners?! It was almost unheard of in this day and age of barbarism and disgust. The Emperor himself had constantly spoke out on such filth constantly, at dinner parties and even a few times in public. But to hear him talk about something like this out of the blue...

"While it is true that we are the epitome of the perfect race..." Drake Yurka III said, in a voice that was completely honest and serious. It was a common opinion, and the isolation over the total isolation of his generation did nothing but cement such views, "They far outnumber us, and together they might actually have a few researchers that could be of use to us..."

"We could always have them kidnapped my Emperor. There is no need to resort to such deplorable means..." The white haired man began to speak, looking at the other delegates coldly, "Perhaps Sections three, four, or even seven could-"

"No... While I have no doubt in our men's abilities, it would be too risky. If they are caught, they may be taken alive. Who knows what kind of tactics the enemy are capable of in garnering their origin? Do you think I want to start a war?"

"But we'd surely win..." The blonde haired woman began to speak eloquently, her large doe eyes concentrating on the Emperor, she was one of the youngest members of the council, genetically engineered at birth for qualities which would help her in her duties to the council.

"Yes, perhaps against one or two enemies... But the world is a large place. Even I am not sure if we can fend off too many of the larger nations out there." He stood up and looked at the (NS) earth, a smile crossing over his face, somewhere on that immense ball of dirt and water rested Yurkan Empire, "We should not go to war if we don't need to. Every soldier in this nation is worth at least that of a million foreign ones."

Everyone grew quiet. They had said their opinions, and seeing as the Emperor was in the end at the head of everything, they could not sway him from what he wanted. They were only there to do their jobs and help control Obelisk...

"Well then, I suppose if there is nothing left to say I should send out the broadcast. I'd like to have our projects done as soon as possible." He smiled a false appology at the group as he turned and began to walk off into space, pushing his hand forward as it touched a button, turning the entire room into a dimly lit, unadorned meeting chamber, "I will still make sure that no foreigners interrupt the lives of our people, don't get me wrong in the least. This is only for our own benefit."

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Suddenly, after an entire generation of a complete cancellation of all foreign broadcasts anywhere near the country, the entire grid was lifted. Seconds later hundreds of broadcasts were sent to any nation which was even remotely influential or could offer them any type of scientific or militaristic knowledge. However any nation that had any type of power whatsoever, or even got in the way of an errant transmission would get the broadcast opening the Empire of Yurka up to foreigners for the first time in seemingly almost ever.

The citizens of Yurka however, would not know of any immediate change, as the government retained the scrambling grid throughout the city to keep any foreign "propaganda" from getting to them.

Greetings to the International Community,

I am Emperor Drake Yurka the third, and it is with a compassionate heart that I open up our isolationist policy to the outside world. For too long have we remained shut within our own borders... in our vain attempt to protect ourselves from the dangers which would be posed by opening ourselves up to the international body once again. Unfortunately, by doing this we fear that we may have lost something precious in the attempt, and are currently trying to make up for lost time.

While for now our borders will remain closed to foreigners, untill our populace becomes as open as possible to the idea, we would still like to open diplomatic talks at this stage. Along with this we are happy to accomodate an exchanging of some technologies, and perhaps even start an alliance if our interests intersect at enough key points. In an attempt to further bring ourselves together with you and your people, we would also like to open up joint efforts between our scientific communities as soon as possible.

If any of these things interest you, please respond within the near future.

Sincerely,
Emperor Drake Yurka III

"The Republic of Minnesotan Federation would be interested in sending an ambassador to Yurka. If you desire, you may appoint an ambassador to represent your nation in the Minnesotan Federation. Please convey your terms to us if you are interested."

The Emperor was standing outside of his bedroom in the palace by the time the response from the Minnesotan Federation made it through the necessary checks. Picking up the letter, which he had opted to read personally, he slowly walked over to the edge, over a large bed of Yurka, the national flower. The fragrance from the black and red petals were said to increase concentration, and sitting down in his chair, he slowly began to read the response...

He made sure to read it twice, as if expecting there to be some sort of hidden meaning behind it. The nation was not around since Yurka was around last, so that meant it was rather young. He would need to have it looked into, but decided to promptly respond. So, pulling out a small computer, he pulled out a small wand and quickly began to write back. It would take six hours to make it to the nation, but it was still rather quick in international terms.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Ah, while we have no places to house ambassadors within our nation at this time, we will be sure to get back to you once such accomodations are met. However, we would be more than happy to send an ambassador to your blossoming nation, to solidify our trust in your people and to protect you from outside threats should any unforeseen aggressions towards the Minnesotans ever take place.

If this sending of an Ambassador is alright, we will send the team immediately.

Signed,
Emperor Drake Yurka

OOC: I'm new too. Sorry for all the little nations flocking to you but I'd like to get started RPing somewhere.

IC:

The Principality of Bronzeland wishes to congratulate the Yurkan Empire on the bold decision to end its isolationist policy and embrace the varied knowledge and ideas that populate the world at large.

If possible, we would like to extend the hand of friendship to your nation and offer our assistance in matters scientific and diplomatic. Unfortunately, Bronzeland pursues a non-aggressive policy and would be unable to assist you if a military situation ever arose. However, rest assured we will use what diplomatic favour granted to us to reduce potential conflicts before they begin.

In friendship,

J. Doe

OOC: Its no problem at all. I'll probably have to start letting in foreign ambassadors at some point though. With a 100% income tax it would make any foreign delegates living in the country have quite a bit to tell their nation about >_> IC:

The Emperor had just finished sending a message to the Minesotan Federation when a second quickly appeared on the small palm-sized computer, this one from a nation known as Bronzeland. Staring over the cityscape at the setting sun in the background, he slowly began to walk inside, a group of maids shutting the door behind him.

"Hmm... Well I suppose they're offering what I originally wanted. We wouldn't need foreign aid in case a war broke out anyway..." He silently mused to himself as Karias entered the room, "Ah Karias... Take a look at this."

Karias slowly leaned towards the Emperor and took a look at the message and scratched his cheek thoughtfully. It took less than a minute for him to turn away and look down the hall before responding with his back turned. In most cases this would be considered bad taste, but the two men were practically brothers...

"Well it appears to me that they are sending Yurka their good will." He hummed to himself as he looked up at a painting of Drake Yurka I, who had died alone shortly after the Yurkan War. It was a rather emotional scene of him on his deathbed, "You should really offer them your friendship and good will as well. They're offering what you want. Perhaps you can complete Cerberus, or even Ragnarok."

"How did you kn-" He began to speak before shrugging it off. Karias no doubt heard him speaking of it to himself in his chambers, "Well I suppose you're right. Take the rest of the day off. I need you to watch over Zera and Zack. They're going to the lower district tonight and have requested a lack of bodyguards. I don't want anything happening to them..."

"Aye sir."

~Bronzeland~

Greetings and thankyou for showing your interest in our nation. We are exceptionally pleased at your stances, and assure you that any war that should come to Yurka will surely be hers alone. We will not entangle you into our affairs if you do not wish such. Science and Diplomacy are the main diet of any healthy alliance, and as such we are pleased to accept all of your requests.

In the near future we will contact you should we ever make space for ambassadors in Yurka City II. Untill such a time we will send one of our own to your nation, if that would be alright. He will fill you in on our current projects in the work.

With only the best interests in mind,
Emperor Drake Yurka III
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

OOC: Under Obelisk in my factbook, anything listed in the common projects is what we have planned as "current projects". Though of course they will remain painfully vague. Cerberus will probably be considered an AI experiment, while Ragnarok would entail creating a "laboratory" on the dark side of the moon. (In actuality Ragnarok is actually a defensive facility. But thats OOC)

We do not need your alliance. We would invade but are willing to stay friendly for national purpouses. The Grand Kippl Kommander Talon has spoken!

The Emperor looked at the message from the Grand Empire of Kippl and immediately burst into a laughing fit, almost spitting out a glass of wine he had opted to drink before going to sleep. Pushing the covers away, he placed the glass on his nightstand and climbed across the expansive bed to sit down. Looking through a quick search through the computers database he found that this nation too was relatively small, in actuality smaller than his current military.

"Ah... Such a sense of humor..." He whispered, slowly pulling out the writing wand as he began to write his reply. He couldn't help but grin a bit as he did so, "I'll truly sleep well tonight."

~Bronzeland~

Ah, we admire your tenacity, and as such will take your reply in good humor. Currently we are unsure if your nation can accomodate the scientific requirements we wish for in our future allies, however we are welcome to look into a temporary alliance. Perhaps a non-agression pact while we're at it.

Awaiting your reply,
Emperor Drake Yurka III

Dia duit
We of the Holy Republic of Resurrected Danu joyfully extend the hand of friendship and would like to establish diplomatic talks with you and your proud Nation. We too have just come to be involved in the political life in this world that we all share. We should like to discuss what forms of technology and scientific advancements you would be looking into. Our Ministry of Science has been quite fruitful in the past few years and thus we may have much to offer you.
We look forward to a fruitful future between our two nations.

Emperor Yurka sat back in his study as the following two messages arrived the following morning. Shrugging his shoulders a bit, he smiled faintly as he answered the messages of his possible future allies. This was easier than it could have been, and in the grand scheme of things he would have less to fear from a group of small nations, while he could still obtain valuable scientists and technology.

"Hmm... Well no need to lie..." He said quietly as he looked at the first one, waving the wand in front of the computer as he quickly began to write.

~Resurrected Danu~

All hail to your glorious nation!
We too have spent recent years grasping broad horizons of science, and are glad to hear that a nation wishing to start diplomatic ties with us also has the same frame of thought. We are currently looking into advanced AIs, space technology, and perhaps some improvements in viral research, in that order. I am sure that any future between our two nations will no doubt be glorious, and will only be a stepping stone in our rise in magnificence.

May I ask what your nations are currently looking into?

Emperor Drake Yurka III

Currently we are not open to foreigners, however that will soon change. When it does you will receive the message personally.

Greetings Emperor Drake Yurka III,

While our research into Artificial Intelligence is alas still in its infancy stages, our space program has been instrumental in allowing our Nation to launch both manned missions and place communications and weather sattellites in orbit. We do have some areas looking into the defensive applications of this technology, but as a whole we have been more concerned with assisting our population and our economy. I am pleased to let you know that our Scientists have made great breakthroughs in the mapping of a number of viral genomes. We have been quite fortunate in that we have made use of a great many medical traditions from our ancestors that have been the impetus to make dramatic breakthroughs in this area as well as throughout our healthcare system as a whole. We would hope that our success can be of use in your Nation. If you require any further information please let us know.

That sounds rather interesting indeed.
Currently we are planning on putting a permanent facility on the moon's surface. Of course we will not have the scientists stay that too long to prevent any excessive damage to the body structure, in the long run this would end up saving us money. Well seeing as you seem to have exactly what we are looking for in an ally, would you like to have an embassy in our newly created Embassy District within the capital city?

Signed,
Emperor Drake Yurka III

We would be honored to establish a diplomatic Embassy in Yurka. We will send Ambassador Eamon O'Brian to oversee our Diplomatic mission. We would accompany him with a suitable staff of 15 and an honor guard of 12 'Fianóglach'(Rangers) issued only with small arms and subject to the restrictions of your Nation. We would be pleased to accept whatever area you see fit to grant us within you facility. We understand your security restrictions and accept them fully. As to your Moon facility have you done much research into methods of counteracting the bone and muscle loss of low gravity? We are set to run a number of experiments on our next space flight into this query. We will be more then happy to share our findings with you as soon as they are documented. We look forward to forming a strong and lasting alliance between our two nations.
