OOC: Dude, assume they have a poor idea of your geography. :p And he did have a name, I might bring it in when I remember it.
IC: "Well men, I'm sure I could try ordering to do this; but do you want to? It sounds interesting to me."
A general murmur of approval did away with the need for words.
"Well, gather your kit then."
Some time later....
"We are all coming. And we are now ready. Lead us to this reinforcement army."
OOC: As in control them to get them there.
ooc: cool. will do.
IC:
the messanger gave them directions, then contiuned on to Alpini, built in the main pass between Kant in the east and Timbwary in the west, technicly in Timbwary juristiction, to deliver the message officialy requesting the Snow-Tallion's services, and detailing their contract.
two weeks and a couple of intersing mishaps later [they had somehow got lost on the main road... ] the Incognitian merchants arived in the ARA's camp. it was aranged in standard Angerman formation, palisade walls, tents aranged as the troops would be on parade, and so on.
the messenger had returned ahead of them, but the Snow-Tallions were still a days march away. it takes longer to move a battle group in good order on foot than it does for a few men to just wander along a road, and the Tallions had started later. though they hadn't gotten lost along the way.
there was much bustle about the camp. in the interveinging weeks the men had been gathered and broken into their Battle-Groups, Kompanys, Sub-Kompanys and Skwadis, and their standard routine consisted of wake up, eat, form up, drill, parade, eat, drill, do routine camp work, eat, drill, sleep, then start again the next day, six days a week, every week. on the seventh day it consisted of wake up, eat, parade, do routine camp work, do pretty much whatever, eat, sleep.
interestingly, the merchants had arived on a 7th day. in the afternoon. so the gate was not so much guarded, as it was a check point to keep track of who was where, so all they had to do was inform the guards of why they were there and admission [along with directions. they didn't get lost this time] was promptly granted.
ooc: and the next little bit consists of them reporting then starting on their job.. which sort of requires them to have at least one name between them :P

The route to Angermanland was becoming ever better known to Incognitian mariners. Regular trading had begun, taking metals, and bows, and other goods, and trading them for greenstone and anything else the Angerman traders would sell.
Naval traffic was, nonetheless, rare; especially since most of the navy was far to the north.
So a sloop coming in to dock, crashing into the side of the jetty, and disgorging a squad of men who rushed to the Ambassador's abode; this was unusual.
When there was then a flurry of activity, culminating in a note in rudimentary Angerman script being sent to the Prince, it became clear that this was no ordinary diplomatic communique.
The note, swiftly delivered, read:
"Our ally Kirisubo has been invaded. We are sending all available forces to help them in their time of need. Any troops you can send will be most welcome. Transports for any you feel able to send are available."
OOC: This what you meant?
EDIT: spotted the other question. Call him Captain Carr, pending further details/shameless editing.

the messenger carrying the note burst into the caladonnian's audiance with the prince, almost knocking over the interpriter who was also entering.
"Your Highness! our allies are under attack!"
the prince was handed the message, read it, then spoke to the interpreter, who had composed himself and entered behind the messenger
"tell our friends here that i am sorry, but have pressing matters to attend to. i'll try and get back to them as soon as posible, then have them showen out."
as the interpreter relayed this to the caladonnian ambasidors, Prince Chargone spoke to the messenger, who was actually a guard who had intercepted the original runner at the entry way, "go to the ambasidor. have him meet me in the map room. we shall see what can be done."
****** meanwhile, in Kant, north of Deepharour*******
"Capitan Carr reporting, as requested, along with my men." Carr saluted the two men at the campagne table in incognitian style.
"ahh yes. Kapitan karr. good to see you. we have a Kompany of men who need training in the use of the crossbow, and would be interested in any information you may have reguarding it's tactical strengths and weaknesses. you shall report to the Kommander of the Snow-Tallion Battle Group, Richar uph Alpini. the pay is 10 gold crosses a day, plus 5 for every expert marksman you can produce, minus 1 for every man you train who is not profficiant at the task by the time we leave Angermanland. you will be training 250 men. in the event that more fail than you earn from your time with us, you will not be charged the diffrence. the money is to be shared amoung your men. if you so wish, you may then join as the Army Bow Kompany Komander, with your men as Serjents and Skwadeads, each payed at the standard rate. if you chose to accept the job that is. if not, well you can go back to whatever it was you were doing. but your trade may... suffer." the man on the right, from the capitans point of view, turned slightly, revealing the Stratkom's sholder flashes.
then Mahkath stood and spoke "unless, of course, you put your case to your leader back in Terror and he sends us an expert of some sort to do the job instead, in which case it would return to useual levels.
as an added bonus, we can use your ship... or was it ships? as part of the transport flotilia when we leave. the money going straight into your pocket, rather than the Incognitian government's. what do you say? you're garanteed food, shelter and clean water as long as you're here, and a bit more besides if you join up."
ooc: and at this point, you really need to take back control of your guys, Terror.

The Ambassador entered the map room. He had been ready for a summons; after all, he had sent the actual message that had reached the Prince, and had had all of...well, a quarter-hour to consider it's implications.

"Fortunately for you, we have some proficiency with crossbows. How long would we have for training?
It is a reasonably simple weapon to use, and we will be familiar with the type you are using.
I appreciate your need; but not your threat. I shall discuss with my men, and give you our answer."
After a brief, hushed discussion the answer came;
"We will do it. Our ship will not join the transport fleet - there are others far more suitable. However, we will join your army.
I am sure that over the coming days there will be plenty of opportunity to discuss tactical uses of crossbows. The prime consideration is that unprotected bowmen must not face close-combat troops."

"you have untill we leave and any time we spend on dry land and not in combat to train them in. however, the special pay deal goes out the window as soon as we leave Angermanland, and you're just on normal pay, no deductions unless you break rules or regulations, that kind of thing.... and we don't have a lot of rules or regulations.
they're very simple really: follow orders [there are exceptions, but it's complicated]. no rape, on pain of death. no pillageing without permision. if told to pillage and burn, pillage THEN burn. no burning without permision. tray and follow the local laws as much as possible. simple, no?" Mahkath smiled
then Deehow spoke up, handing Carr a paper with much Angerman script on it, "your contract, read it through, then sign it. there is nothing in there we havent' discussed, though it does elaborate on the standard pay structure and the regulations a bit.
as for the threat.. well, it woked did it not? to be honest though, it was nothing more than a bluff. unless the prince decided it was a good idea AND could convince the trade guild of that.
in real terms, training time, you have at least 3 weeks befor we leave. now, unless there is anything else you wish to say, report to Richar. the men you are to train will report to you in the morning at the.. fireing range? i think that's the term, that we set up just outside the camp. you should have seen it on the way in. i suggest you get there befor they do. technicly you're in charge of the Army Kross Kompany, but while we're in camp, for practicality's sake, you're under his command."
************in Angerwraith************
"ahh. there you are" the prince was not smileing. he was more serious than most had seen him befor. "come look at this, fill me in on anything that's missing and relivant"
Chargone had befor him a map of the pacific from the Angerman holdings all the way up to frozopia, west to Kilani, and east . well, it didn't go far east at all. on it were placed markers for the allied various armys in Aust, the general aproximate position of the allied naveys, the reinforcement army in kant, and various other things. scattered around the table were various ledgers listing supplys, troop numbers, and the like.
"and then" he continued "tell me what is needed."
ooc: does the ambasidor have a name?

They signed it, and took their leave; searching out this "Richar".

In Angerwraith, Ambassador Wenger (OOC: you asked. He may have had a name, if so this is a different bloke), knew little more than the Prince.
"We know that the Austian fleet is just south of Kirisubo, along with our own. We surmise, rather than actually know, that the Han have invaded Kirisubo. They will have done so in force, landing on the West coast, and will likely be heading for the capital.
From what I have been told, 35,000 soldiers of ours are on their way to Kirisubo. More will most likely follow. What is needed, is soldiers, of as great a quality and in as great a number as possible. The sheer quantity of Han soldiers will otherwise overwhelm our ally."

"humm" the prince thought for a moment "i care not. numerous as they may be, to concentrate that meny men, they can be little more than rabble. i have initial reports here," he indicated a pile of papers "as to how the reinforcements for Aust are shapeing up. i can send them to assist. a bit over 7750 men. includes an elite battle group, the Snow-Tallions, as well as our first Kross Kompany. now hawks this time, and only army level moa scouts, but a full 1400 eels, 2300 wheel, 1800 rock, 1500 ejiners, 250 army enjiners, a 250 strong army phirst kompany, and 250 army skouts. quite impressive, all in all.
we had to strip the battalions of their skouts due to lack of men and mounts, and their phirst kompanys due to lack of elite-rated men in this unit, though.
however, i do have my best and most trusted leading it, and an entire elite battle group should make up for that lack.
they an leave in three weeks, if you can provide transport that soon.
you may be interested to know, just by the by, we have a new class of ship, capable of fighting in it's own right, under production. the first three should be ready within a month after the army.
the down side to diverting those reenforcements, however, is that any new troops to be sent to Aust will take still longer to get ready."

"We ourselves have few reinforcements to send to Aust at the moment. That is no longer our primary concern - we shall send troops if the need arises.

**** three weeks and some days later, mid morning****
the last of the men and equpiment were being loaded into the transports, and a tiro of masters, with their waka, and a scraped togeather escort of Incognitian warhsips were ready and waiting just outside the harbour.
the ships would leave befor dark, on their way to fight a war in a place most abord them had never heard of.

The Admiralty appreciated the Prince's concern, so as the convoy sailed, more vessels would be sent to join the escort force, as and when they became available. The biggest addition, a freshly fitted-out ship of the line, on her maiden voyage, added punch to the escort only a couple of days after their departure.

When they were ushered in, the lead ambassador bowed, and said, "Greetings from Caladonn, your Majesty. It is an honor to finally meet you. I would like to discuss possible ties between our nations, particularly those pertaining to the recent invasion of Kirisubo by the people of Cathay. What is your stance on the matter?"

OOC: That's okay. I apologise about the reservation thing, I generally don't do it, but in this case I hadn't posted for a while and I wanted to let you know that I was getting to it.
IC: The Diplomat was startled at the Prince's hostile manner. Up until now, he had been mainly gracious, but he decided that a show of backbone was not unwanted in this instance. He smiled thinly. "What am I to do but make assumptions upon arriving in a foreign land? I can hardly be blamed for not knowing your correct form of address.
It would hardly go unnoticed in Caladonn if a high-profile delegation to an unkown nation simply went missing. Our ships are well built, and not inclined to simply disappear in the short distance between our colonies and your land. I can assure you that any overt hostility will be met with the full strength of the Imperial Navy.
On a more pleasant note, however, I can truthfully tell you that our nations are far more likely to be allies than enemies. The land of Cathay is none other than Han; it is, I believe, the Kirisuban name for that nation. Recently, our allies in Terror Incognitia informed the Caladonnian Senate of their intervention in Cathay's invasion. As their allies, we are obliged and happy to aid them. The full strength of the Imperial Fleet is currently mustering in the Harbour of Pearls (OOC: Pearl Harbour, Hawaii lol) and will soon set sail, more than a hundred Ships of the Line strong, to aid the Incognitians.
I am gladdened that you have become an opportune ally of our struggle. Caladonn will provide your nation with transports for their soldiers if need be.
As for what we want? Originally, our voyage had four purposes. One, to establish relations and possibly a permanent embassy with your nation. As relations have already been made, an embassy seems next. Two, to enlist your support in the war against Cathay, which seems to have already been provided. Three, to begin trade with your nation, which has already been discussed with your merchants. And finally, four, to discuss the possible purchase of any territory of Angermanland you would be willing to sell. We note that you control many islands to the north, and directly across from them is our territory, which we are keen on expanding.
So, all of those goals seem to have been met with the exception of the fourth. How do you recieve that?"

embasys are fair enough. i can allot you land next to the Incognitian embassy, or you can simply take what the town councel alot you. up to you.

"Yes, we recieved word from the Incognitians. I'm sure a visit to the shipwrights would prove enlightening."

With the standard diplomatic bag to Angermanland, came this message:
"We are at war with an unknown power in Africa. We do not request or require your assistance; however there may be opportunities for some relatively easy siezing of territory if you are interested.
We will not be attacking until probably a years time, as we have other commitments, and want to do this properly."

Chargone, Prince of Angermanland read this with interest. the nation was straining it's resorces, despite the best efforts of councils and lords. there were simply too meny people in too little space. the islands to the north had helped ease the load somewhat, as had the raiseing and dispatching of armies. but it was still a problem. the possibility of gaining land under the Angerman banner thus appealed to him.
swiftly he gave orders for the raiseing of a new army, and for the restructureing of the unit and ranking system, the old one proveing impractical. they would make gains in this... Africa.
