For info on other NSAA R+D projects ongoing, look here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=463720).

Project Hammer:
To decide whether the use of super-dreadnought-class warships is viable, and if the decision is yes, to design and implement a line of 4 such craft.

This project is a joint effort between the NSAA R+D department and Wuller and Farthing shipyards, Mondoth.

The NSAA Government is unsure as to the worth of the SuperDreadnought class of ships, and therefore wishes to carry out further research on how effective these craft have been in the past before commiting itself to the expenditure such a building project would require.

OOC: in other words, i'm going to go looking at how other people's SDs have done, and then decide whether i want to jump on the bandwagon.

OOC: my honest opinion is that they're crap, the people from W&F however would kill me for saying so, probably painfully.

OOC: hmm, I've yet to go looking, but i think i'll base my decision on how hard to kill kraven's SDs end up in the fight against my fleet. (the invasion of frenzia...). The monstous firepower they bring is a BIG plus mind...

ooc:true, but be sure to remember that they cost an absurd amount of money.

As your trying to fight Kravens, try to come up with ways of defeating your plans to defeat his SD, so if you decide to build some, you'll at least know some features you want.

good plan. not that my tactics against it are working well yet, but i'm only trying missile spammage and torpedoes so far...

OOC: I actually sell a submarine designed as an anti SD craft, it uses ultra high speeds (6 high speed thrusters, max speed of 50 knts) and specal mines to crack SDs keels, the fastest way to sink a ship.

they do seem to lack anti-submarine defences, but i could mount those, making that one less useful, at least...
Fuel air bombs dropped on the thing should slow it down, it must be said, if you can hit it with them. hmm.

Results of NSAA intelligence operation to determine the value of SDs (in brief):
Superdreadnoughts, in our opinion, do not bring any extra flexibility to a navy, that all the roles that they can fulfil are already filled in the NSAA navy, and that the massive expenditure required to build such a craft (and maintain it) are not worthwile, when the resultant craft will be consigned to costal bombardments and major fleet battles, which are not the main jobs carried out by the NSAA navy.
