The Exile of Artimus Agrippa [FT::Open::Diplomats Too]

Atimus should be dead.

Fire.

Fire everywhere.

That's what Artimus last visions where. During the invasion of The Colony of Star Zero he had fought bravely. However, he had lost. The Empire of Setian had brought in their biggest ships, and thier mighty Tyrant to force the newborn nation to pay tribute. Artimus did not accept this.

In the case of Liberty or Death, He choose Death.

And with his death, so was the Emperor's. He set his ship for self destruct and blew himself, and the Tyrant into simitherines.
At least, that was the plan.

Atimus, should be dead.

OCC: This is a continuation of the story of The Trial of Artimus Agrippa [ http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=463711 ]. If you don't read it, then the rest of the story won't make sense. This thread will serve as the backstory of what happend to Artimus Agrippa, the construction of Tiffany Point, and the furious political dealings that go on a Zero Point as the Colony seeks allies. This is open, anyone hop on in. Just, you know, don't like...declare war on a nation on the rebound...cuz that just stinks.

Two weeks after the battle...
The Battleship Pennsylvania

Captain Marthe marched down a corridor at a brisk pace followed by a scientist. The Xeno scurried along to keep up with her, ~I think so, but a direct visual confirmation would be very helpful right now Captain.~ Marthe nodded once and took a turn through a hatch.

Minutes later the two were walking through the ICU section of the primary medical ward. Rows of closed in bio chambers lined either wall. Each one had a bed in it with a critically wounded Xeno or Star Zero soldier, some were filled with an amber-colored liquid and others just had the person laying there, depending on the severity or type of injury.

Agrippa lay in one of the chambers, although it wasn't filled with the fluid. His arm and one leg had been regrown, and skin had to be grown and transplanted onto his body. Although he would look the same, his body had undergone remarkable trauma.

Captain Marthe was shown to the chamber, and she would confirm that it was him.

The scientist stepped over and checked the bio monitors and brainwave activity. It was about the right time to bring him around, so he unlatched the seal of the chamber and allowed the top half of the protective pod to lift upwards out of the way.

Some commands were inputted into the system, and the flow of drugs would cease to keep him asleep.

Marthe and the scientist stood waiting expectantly for him to wake.

The Emperor was transplanted into his ship. The Symbiant technology would sustain and keep him active until regeneration was complete. He was more than aware and he wanted revenge, but he had to stabilize the Empire after the failed Congressional Revolution. He was almost done, but he had some more work- good for the Zero Point Colony, but it only delayed the inevitable.

Agrippa was having nightmares.

No.no.no.No.No.NO NO!!!!!

Agrippa pounded his command screen helplessly as the cruel Spadesmen began to destory the residential sector of his hometown. He ordered the ship to dive in front of the massive battleship firing all weapons. The crew obeyed without hesitaion.

The Spadian ship stopped firing at the residents and aimed their cannons toward his ship.

KEEP HER STEADY PILOT!

The enemy vessel fired it's beam weapons cutting the ship into peices. It was however, too late. Agrippa's ship nosedived straight into the Spadian Battleship criticaly wounding it. The bridge crew would survive.

Agrippa prayed it wasn't too late, but it was.

His home was down there. His wife. His daughter.

They were dead.

It kept replaying over and over again in his mind. It tortured him relentlessly. Agonized him daily. His wife was dead. Angela was dead. Tiffany was dead.

Dead. Dead. Dead.

He was dead. He remembered it quite clearly. The wing of the Exile had sliced cleanly though his body. He was dead.

Dead. Dead. Dead.

- BEEEEEEEEP -

Atimus opened his eyes.

He wasn't dead.

And there was Captain Marthe, with a somewhat short male Xeno scientist standing behind her, peering at him expectantly. Marthe spoke up, "Welcome back, Captain. You were legally dead at one point for nine minutes. I'm told it took severe effort to piece back together parts of your body that had started to die. You are on the Pennsylvania and you've been out for sixteen days."

The scientist stepped in, bobbing his oblong head, ~I am Doctor Krah. We were forced to regrow your left arm and left leg, as well as one of your kidneys and most of your lungs. You may get odd sensations for the next few days, numbness, tingling and so on. Those are just your nerves getting a feel for the layout of your new parts. As you might know, the human nerve structure is entirely unique on an individual basis.~ The scientist's mind was projecting these words into Agrippa's head.

Agrippa was speechless.

He was.....alive?

He lifted both his hands to look at them. It took some effort since they had not moved in so long, but when his eyes finally focused.

They were gone.

His scar. It wasn't there. His callouses. His rough hand was simply not there. It was just.....a hand. Soft and pink and...

No ring.

He had never taken off his wedding ring. Even after Angela's death. He couldn't bear too. It made him tougher. Made him meaner and stronger. It's what helped him destory the Queen of Fourspades. It's what helped him lead his town out of the Planet he once called home.

He was alive???

He looked up at the Xeno who were looking at him as if he was supposed to say something. He tried to think of something....appropite to say. Something that could come out before the tears welled up and his heart broke again.

"Thanks."

The male seemed to take it at face value and bobbed his head. His grin was a nightmarish show of dagger-sharp teeth in his jaws. Then he turned and headed off, other patients to check up on.

Captain Marthe continued to stare at Agrippa with those icy blue eyes, "They exiled you. I know that the entire trial was a farce, but as long as your leader lives, it is law. I have spoken with the Fleet Admiral, and he has granted permission for you to petition for citizenship among the Xeno."

PEOPLE OF STAR ZERO! I PROMISE YOU A LAND OF PEACE AND PROSPERITY! AS YOUR NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT I PROMISE WE WILL REBUILD WE WILL RENEW WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS!

The crowd cheered for Steelcraft. Of course, they were being paid to. It helped with the media.

Admiral Alexandia Cutter would have none of it. As newly appointed Cheif of Security, she had access to the stage. She was, after all, in charge of protecting it. So walking on stage in the middile of Steelcraft's speech was not a problem for her. Getting the power to Steelcraft's microtransmitter was also not a problem. Pretty much, nothing was a problem for her.

"YEAH RIGHT! People of Star Zero listen to me. This man does not know what this Colony needs! He has not fought alongside you! He was no idea what we've been through! You need somebody with intergity, somebody with experiance, you need ONE OF YOU!

The crowed cheered wildly. "CUTTER! CUTTER! CUTTER!"

And just like that, Alexandia Cutter became a candidate.

Agrippa slowly came to his senses.

"How's my colony? How's Cutter? Are you still under attack? Did it work? What's going on? Exile?"

the executius tyrranus was badly damnaged, the admiral and the Death spire marines left alvie the only survivors, the ship had limped besides the Pennsylvania for days, the marines taking it in turns to pilot the ship, after all there was 5000 of them left.

Damage control teams were sent to the Executius Tyrranus to help with getting the ship repaired to the point where it would be able to get back home on its own.

Meanwhile on the Pennsylvania, Captain Marthe was explaining, "The colony suffered radiation damage, but all except a few of the citizens were kept out of harm. They are cleaning the area up now. I do not know if they will attempt to cleanse the city, or just move to a different location on the planet and start over."

"As to the issue of the invaders, their leader was seriously wounded when your vehicle exploded. One of our Drones finished him off. Your leadership used his body as a bargaining chip to get a cease-fire. We heavily damaged their flagship and destroyed four of their carriers. For Alexandia Cutter, it would seem she is taking the political road and perhaps running for leadership. We feel it is a good choice." And of course by 'we' she meant the Xeno in general.

"If you recall, the execution of your trial called for your exile. We cannot violate the law of your nation and send you back unless you directly request it."
Star Zero

"Cutter? In politics? Man, I must have been out."

Agrippa was coming around, remembering the events. Remembering the trial.

"You're right. Steelcraft won't stop pestering me as long as I'm around. Best they don't know I'm alive I guess. I just might have to take you up on that citizenship offer."

-----------------------------------

Governor Steelcraft was furious. He was losing support and fast. It seemed nothing could stop Alexandia. He would simply eliminate her, but she was too popular, and after the recent events a entourage of volunteer bodygaurds followed her everywhere.

And to put it simply, who could beat a war hero who was a single mother?

----------------------------------

Alexiandia Cutter was in the midst of revealing her defence plan. Her plan called for the construction of an orbital battlestation that would provide more than enough firepower to deal with future attacks. After it was completed, the shipyards could be converted to making other ships. If Star Zero were to export thier designs, it would create jobs and trade partners. And she knew better than anyone that Star Zero needed freinds.

Orbit
The Pennsylvania and Arizona warped out of the system, heading back to Polaris for repairs. With them went the three destroyers and three frigates.

Replacing those two battleships were the battleships Iowa and Mississippi along with four destroyers and two frigates to protect Star Zero.

Agrippa was to be treated to a view of something that no one outside of the Xenos could witness.

Polaris

The little white, blue, green and gray planet hung in space. The 6th planet from a large yellow sun, it had a pair of ice ball moons and was the halfway point between XSS1 and the Xeno homeworld.

Of course, the location of the homeworld was rather hard to know, since communications with the outside world tended to go directly through Polaris and XSS1.

Here at Polaris, there was a massive orbital facility over the northern pole of the planet where the pull of gravity was the weakest. This facility was host to a complex of drydocks and shipyards, in which hung the skeletal structures of the framework of several warships, as well as unpainted, nearly-finished capital ships.

Onboard the Pennsylvania, Agrippa could look out one viewport and watch as the ship slid majesticly into a berth in the drydocks . It was sort of like being in a massive garage. Enclosed and armored, there were hundreds of pieces of equipment and machinery along the walls on rails and swivels and such.

The ship slowly reduced its power and would begin to drop lower and lower, inch by inch until it settled onto the structure of the drydock. Huge blast doors closed behind the Pennsylvania, and the dock would regain atmosphere.

Agrippa was shown out of the Pennsylvania and across a skybridge into the shipyard facility. Within an hour he was seated in a cafeteria, which housed dozens of Xenos of both sexes who ate and talked amongst themselves. A big window looked out over one section of the yard.

Captain Marthe sat down beside him, "They are building warships to defend Star Zero. A special taskforce to augment the defenses of your homeworld."
Star Zero
24-01-2006, 02:52
"Wow. I'm impressed. It's not very often that our people get help like that. I wish Star Zero would hurry up and build a shipyard of their own. My people are master shipbuilders. The Colony Ship was one of our greatest acheivments. Five million people on board one ship. I wonder what they would build?

------------------------------------------------

The plans for the Orbital Battlestation had gotten rave reviews. The plan was so popular that Gov. Steelcraft had adopted a similar plan. This prompted a televised debate about the future of the station.

"And what would you call the station Mr. Steelcraft?"

The dark man in a dark suit spoke up matter of factly, "I would call the station something that would send our enemies cowering in fear. I would call the station "The Death Star"

The crowd seemed to ponder this over until Cutter spoke up, "The Death Star? What kind of a cheesy name is that? You know what you should call it? Tiffany Point. Tiffany was Captain Agrippa's daughter. You do remember Agrippa don't you? He not only sacrificed himself for our freedom, but he worked hard and long to get us where we are today. You see Mr. Steelcraft I know my soliders. I know my people. I know what we need and I know of the sacrifies they have made. And that is something you just will never understand."

OOC: Well. It's only been a month since the fighting. But I'd like to make a couple of points first of all. There cannot be found a paid informant among the Xeno. They're on a network of sorts. The intentions of one is known by their closest friends/comrades.

That being said, Polaris is a documented forward base of the Xeno. It's known, and it's where Xeno craft go for retrofitting, maintaince and repairs. You don't -need- an informant to find it. It's public information.

Anyway, there are many problems which you should be aware of,

1: A Symbiant is connected to a Subspace Network and if found that they were turning, they would be killed.

2: Orbital Marines are patriotic, but they won't know jack until the Emperor sends the plan.

3: To attack the Sebecean home system, you need to know where it is. We have hundreds of claimed systems (most uninhabited) and since we have been an isolationist people for many years, no one knows the location of the Higar system. So you would have to burn through our entire territory to look for it.

4: Star Destroyers may be mighty, but about 8 ISDs match the firepower and length of a single Sebecean Command Carrier and Command Battlecarrier.

5: You invade, we won't play nice [ie, no matchable fleets- we will send enough to wipe you out before you can scream (I assume Xeno would do the same if I attacked his homeworld)]

A similar message was drafted to Death Spire.

Polaris
Shuttles and dropships were arranged to get most of the crew of the Pennsylvania down to Polaris for a brief shore leave of sorts. This would also be an opportunity to handle training for Agrippa.

Marthe escorted him through one of the primary fortifications on the planet and into an armory. In one wing, there was a fitting station. There, he would be fitted to a suit of the Xeno battle armor.

Helmet
The Xeno battle armor is a full spectrum combat system designed for the survivability and augmentation of its user. The helmet is a cushioned, full-coverage piece with a one-way, heavy, mirrored and polarised blast shield/visor that will seal when closed. It is designed to absorb the kinetic impact of high caliber bullets as well as shield the eyes of the user from harmful UV and laser array.

When wearing the visor, the user can see out as though looking through glass, while someone trying to look in sees only the mirrored surface, thus entirely concealing the identity of the user, as well as where they are looking or their expression. The visor will darken automaticly when exposed to extreme lighting, thus enabling the user to still look around even under harsh lighting conditions.

The visor provides a spectrum of viewing options, from normal visual, to night vision, to thermal, to movement. This can be toggled with a voice command.

A tiny laser mounted on the side of the helmet allows for range-finding and spotting, and a visual cue projected on the inside of the visor will show where the user's weapon is pointed as well as the range. Other visual cues can be placed through an integrated command network by squad members and commanders.

Thus when a Xeno is ordered to "Capture Hill 773", a visual cue can be transmitted to units, which will project the hill's location into the helmet. This is also used in combination with a map projection, in which low-amp lasers give a direct holographic representation of terrain directly before the user's eyes.

Armor
The Xeno battle armor augments the strength, speed and endurance of the user. It also enhances the jump ability slightly, although boosters can be installed for limited jetpack usage. It feeds off of 10 lithium-carbon batteries about the size of a cigarette package. While the user provides the motion, the suit flows with the warrior. The batteries last about 24 hours before recharge is required.

The suit recharges by lying idle, and will directly absorb sunlight and heat. The suit may also be recharged by placing water into a special compartment on the back of the suit, which has a hydro transmission converter. Energy from the hydrogen is converted and used to recharge batteries. Batteries may also be stripped out and simply replaced with fresh ones in the field in a matter of minutes by a trained operator.

Typically, a Xeno will enter battle with 2 full sets of spare battery packs and the normal ration of water, which in an emergency may be used for recharges.

The armor is a unique alloy which although rigid, has a limited ability to flex under impact, thus robbing ballistics of most of their power. Mixed into the alloy is a special fiber for laser ablasion, and thermal protection that allows for operation in extreme heat and cold.

Xeno battle armor is entirely sealed off from enviornmental conditions, shielded against radiation, UV, EMP and pressure waves.

Medical System
The inside of the Xeno suit is designed to keep its user alive. Bio sensors evaluate the stress level, injury and condition of the warrior and takes steps to resolve any undue situation. Injuries are treated by a projection system inside the suit which will spray the wounded area with disinfectant and a coagulant to halt bleeding. Pain medications and stimulants can also be applied according to the suit's evaluation.

The suit packs antibiotics and viral injections, and an auxillary medical kit is carried by all warriors.

The bio system includes a feed, through which bio waste can be collected, nicknamed 'the relief tube' by some users. It connects directly to genitalia and allows the user to relieve themselves in the field without getting out of their armor.

Meanwhile
Agrippa was being suited up, a custom print of his specifications would be taken and then recorded for later, should he ever require another power suit, one can be fitted to him before he even arrives to pick it up.

The bio system requires that the operator be nude inside the armor, but the Xeno seemed to have no modesty. Not even the females as several stripped down in the suiting room of the armory to climb into their armor.

Agrippa was a soldier.

Soldiers generally accpet that they have to give up some privacy in order to serve their people.

Of course, in most cases, Agrippa did not have to strip down naked in front of females.

You see, Agrippa did have a sense of modesty. So during the entire process, Agrippa was the same shade as a bright red tamoto.

Particularly, the "relief tube".

Agrippa tried to keep his head down as much as possible.

Once inside the armor, there was only one word that Agrippa could think of.

The armor seemed to warm up around him, and the air pads inflated to snugly pad him into place. When he moved, he found it very smooth. It was no more encumbering than a heavy jacket and thick pants, really. And as he got used to it, the suit adjusted further until it became very natural.

His visor was open and Marthe marched over to him also in a suit of the armor. She met his gaze steadily. "Your armor has a basic training program built into it. If you need help, simply say 'system help' and describe your problem. Now follow me." She turned and clomped through the corridor, which was tall and wide enough to fit several Xeno marching abreast in full armor.

"Right now, we're going to get you comfortable with the functions of the armor. The visor is the most-complicated part, but it's basicly just command phrases to change the viewing type that it's presenting. Normally during combat, your commanders will download map and tactical information you need automaticly, so you won't be distracted from the fighting."

She stepped up to a rack where M1 carbines were stacked. She removed one and grabbed a few clips, tucking them into cargo pouches built into the armor. "Take a rifle." She ordered before she stepped further through the armory and out one of the doors, turning to wait for Agrippa.

Agrippa took an M1 and did his normal customary check to make sure it wasn't loaded. Impressive weapon. Not too heavy, felt right in his hand.

He was getting used to the armor. It felt almost like his flight suit from his earliest days as a pilot. He could get used to it.

Captain Marthe marched out onto the parade grounds which are paved. Finally getting a look at his surroundings, Agrippa realizes they are in the valley formed by two sets of tall mountain ranges. Everything is white with snow. Beyond the parade grounds he can see a large fortitified facility with rows of immense satellite dishes and antennas fenced in by lines of wire fences and tall walls.

She marches him through a set of gates through the thick walls and down a slight incline to where a firing range has been set up about a kilometer from the base.

There are several black-armored Xeno there already, some firing weapons and some just watching or standing around talking.

"The M1 was designed for accuracy first of all. It uses a point seventy-five caliber round that can penetrate thick armor even at maximum range. The weight of the slug and its ballistic charactaristics lend itself to engaging infantry primarily, and when on full-auto, to lightly armored vehicles and aircraft. If you encounter a heavier target, you'll need to use the grenade launcher attachment."

Agrippa stood on the firing line, rifle in hand. He put the rifle to his shoulders and aimed through the scope. The suit helped hold his arm up so his aim was steadier than it would normally be. Which was, really really cool.

Breath in..pause...breath out...pause...pull....BANG!

The bullet singed as it flew through the air and landed center mass of his target.

Agrippa smiled. He still had it.

Captain Marthe stood beside him, just watching. "Now the scope on there is just for training. If you use the command, 'System targeting, standard' it will bring up the visual aid on the inside of your visor." And once he spoke it, a glowing red targeting ring would appear on the inside of the visor. Wherever he pointed the rifle, the ring would follow. In little numbers beside the ring is a range to the nearest object the ring is touching. There are a series of lines in the ring under the center, which dictates how much elevation is required for the grenade launcher, since those projectiles arc and have a shorter range.

"If you noticed, the M1 has minimal kick due to the battle armor and a recoil suppression system built into the stock. This allows you to stay on target and fire as quickly as you can pull the trigger when in single-shot mode. The magazine holds fourty rounds, and you can set the rifle to a 2-round burst or full automatic. We've found the two round burst is useful for medium ranges when you can sacrafice a bit of accuracy for extra firepower."

Admiral Cutter's orders were to use extreme caution when dealing with outsiders. Four sqaudrons of Exile Fighters and two modified Intruders would escort the wounded craft to the far side of the planet. Away from the Zero Point Colony. The Planet was mostly water, with only two land masses.

ATTENTION OUTSIDE CRAFT. YOU ARE IN STAR ZERO SPACE. YOU WILL BE ESCORTED TO THE LANDING ZONE. SHUT DOWN YOUR ENGINES AND WE WILL TRACTOR YOUR CRAFT TO THE SURFACE.

Marthe gave no indication of what she was going to do. "This." She stepped forward, and drew back one armored fist. She then sent it pounding directly into the chestplate of Agrippa's armor. From the sound of the impact, he knew it was a very hard blow. But even still, all he felt really was a light thump through the armor, and was sent back a step. The armor flowed easily with the step to keep him on his feet.

A brief image appeared in one corner of the visor, the battle armor's outline. A yellow mark appeared on the chest where he'd been struck, then faded to green. The image disappeared.

"That was your suit telling you that you've taken an impact and it held. If it turned red, there would be penetration of the first armor layer and possible injury. If it turned orange, then you're probably hit but don't know it yet because the painkillers are already pumping into you. It's a bio cocktail we call 'Hero Juice'. Or, too easy to avoid by attacking from the other side of the planet."

She leaned back in a chair and crossed one leg over the other. "It has potential. We have the XSS1 facility as you know, but it's less of a defensive structure and more of an international port. If you want to have this to defend your planet, that is fine. It is going to take a lot of firepower to make it viable, though. You must not neglect a fleet, either. Only close allies actaully get to see Zero Point. Tiffany Point is being constructed. When it's finished, it will be in stationary orbit directly above Zero Point. However, the location and actual progress is a big freaking secret. SS: You just wrecked my planet. If you think Cutter is just gonna let something slip by, you're crazy. It's only been about 3 months after. You stated you had 3 years to fix the Empire.

Major Zale nodded, "I'm not saying it's an entirely bad idea. It just needs to be thought out completely, with every measure taken to ensure that it is effective. We've seen many civilizations who feel that just putting a defensive station in orbit will protect them."

She gestured with one hand towards a window. "We suggest facilities on the ground also, fitted with surface-to-orbit anti-ship missiles. Infact, we are currently in development of such devices right now. I am sure that if I spoke with Fleet Admiral Kay, he would be willing to grant Star Zero the technology to build them. Even send engineers to help."

"I also am authorized to offer technical and engineering help of any sort required to defend your planet. We figured you would be doing something, but we didn't know what. Seeing what it is, we are offering the services of our engineers and technicians to help speed up and boost the construction of your defense network." Pause. "I also require an answer to our offer of a mutual defensive pact and alliance. Please not that if you decide that an alliance and or the defensive pact is not in the interest of your civilization, we are still offering the engineering help."

"There is the matter of this other nation that must be discussed. The people who attempted to help during the first attacks. Have you spoken to them?"

Polaris
Well, the Xeno did have balls. But judging by the armor, even a stern kick to the crotch would generate very little in the way of a response.

Captain Marthe escorted him into the building, which turned out to be a rather large training facility. It had two floors as well as a basement. Into the basement they went, down a flight of stairs. The basement's floor is covered with thick padding, as are the walls and cieling. There are strike-dummys against the walls, and lockers with an assortment of melee weapons. And here and there, first aid kits.

A few Xeno are currently wrestling with each other, the females just as viciously as the males.

Waiting in one section of the padded area is a ... huge Xeno. This guy is almost nine feet tall and with the armor around eleven feet tall. Encased in armor similar to the Infantry, but much thicker and it bears hardpoints for the attachment of support weapons. Marthe spoke quietly to Agrippa as they approached him, "This is Tekko. He's the Drone Commander. That's the overall leader of the Drones. Drones are our equivilent of a tank on the battlefield. They provide us with heavy support, and the armor and endurance to push forward against overwhelming firepower. Tekko is a legend among the Xeno, he has seen warfare on more planets than years I've been alive. You must treat him with respect due to his rank."

Stepping up to the Drone, she lifted her armored hand in salute to him. Tekko's armor is the same non-glossy black as others, but has some gold trim on it so that he is distinguishable on the battlefield. The monster Drone nodded to the Captain, and then the blank visor of that helmet turned to examine Agrippa.

Emergency Fire Crews and Security Personell were rushed to the landing site. Surronding the site were recently contructed buildings and communication towers. Dotted in the landscape were islands that held gun emplacements that one would assume were used to shoot down smaller craft.

Tekko's head would nod marginally. There was a brief, faint sensation of voices as Tekko and Marthe communicated. Then Marthe spoke, "He is going to show you some basic advantages that your armor will give to you in melee combat."

Tekko strode forward and hunched down somewhat, arms extending and bent at the elbow in a ready type stance. ~Prepare yourself. This is a basic tackle.~ He lunched forward...

Painfully, mind you, but he was learning. He had figured out that the suit let him jump higher. Which meant that if he was quick about it, he could dodge the tail. Also cool was the fact that the suit helped heal him when he took a hit, and it helped him keep his balance. He could also somewhat stand the weight of somebody on top of him, which was very lucky for him.

He was, however, still very tired at the end of it all.

THI- IS BEA-H - WE A-E GOING D-WN!

The liner hit the trees. The liner continued to stay on the tree line until in went down. The liner slamed the ground and broke up, the atmospheric tanks were hit and exploded, igniting some of the trees. The ship's captian was dead.

The F-1s that had been escorting the craft would circle, radioing to both Xeno and Zero Point authorities the site of the crash. They would remain on station over the wreckage until help arrived.

The componets to Tiffany Point were being compelted. All it needed now was for all the peices to be placed into orbit. The minefeild had been set at the site to protect it during it's final phase, and Zero Point was working with The Xeno on different ship designs as well as providing support in the massive lifting operation.

It was decided that a long drawn out construction phase in space would send an open invitation to attack the station before it was ready. Because of this, most of the station was assembled in in seperate peices and would be put together in orbit. Several componets could even act independtly, with thier own life support and energy generation methods.

Major Zale would be making a visit to Zero Point for official reasons. There's a rather important announcement that needs to be discussed. And so, she would call ahead and hours later, a frigate would appear over the planet. From the frigate was deployed a shuttle, which skimmed down through the atmosphere to make landing.

The Major allowed a brief, thin smile. Then she would reach into a docket she had along and withdrew a folder. The folder is labeled as 'Zero Point Taskforce'. She offered it to Alexandia. "This is our official request to permanently garrison warships here at Zero Point to augment the defense of your sector. The taskforce would consist of three battleships, four destroyers and four frigates. This represents a very, very powerful fleet."

Alexandia looked at the packet. "As Admiral, I know we'll be very happy to have a Xeno Garrision here. I'll take this over to the Parliment Building myself so they can get it approved right away. You've come just in time to see the launch of our oribital battlestation. We're putting it together in less than a day to avoid it being attacked during construction."

The folder had the names and manifests for the ships. They're brand new, built exclusively for this purpose.

Battleships:
California
Washington
New Mexico

Destroyers:
Pearl Harbor
Falkirk
Jena
Austerlitz

Frigates:
Sling
Pilum
Knight
Spear

Major Zale would follow Alexandia as she headed off to the government building. "They are due to arrive here in about twenty minutes. We figured that would be enough time to get official approval. These ships will be able to protect the final phase of construction." She looked thoughtfully at the sky, "Several of our top commanders have expressed interest at equipping your military with Xeno style battle armor."

"Xeno Battle Armor? Really? The Parliment will be very pleased. Come, let's go sit in on this vote."

--- Later ---

The Parliment vote was in. Everyone of the votes were in favor of the defence pact and garrison.

That night the station went skyward. Dozens of shuttles and cargo lifters carried the componets of the station into space.

And arriving in orbit as the shuttles launched, were the warships of the Zero Point Taskforce. Without hesitation, the fleet would begin to patrol around the construction site. Three battleships .. that's pretty scary. No doubt, there were hundreds of F-1s among the fleet and a compliment of marines as well.

The construction workers felt much much safer working under the shadow of Xeno warships. Within a matter of one night, all the componets of the large station were in place and functional. The Xeno Fleet was invited to dock with Tiffany Point for a celebration. The celebration would be doubled by the election of Alexandia Cutter.

The Xeno, being a rather stern, cautious race would decline the invitation to dock. However, they would allow some of the crew and marines who were off-duty to shuttle over to the station to participate. Before departing, the celebrants would be ordered to undertake their very -best- formal behavior. It wouldn't do for Xeno to get out of control.

They would remain undocked. Since being docked means being vulnerable and unable to respond in the event of an emergency. The Xeno take their duty -very- seriously.

Zero Point
Xeno on the ground already would of course, volunteer to help provide security for the ceremony of swearing in the new President, or whatever they would do for that. They doubted they would be needed for security, but it was good to volunteer anyway. You never know.

"PEOPLE OF STAR ZERO!
I thank your for the honor of being your first President! Today marks a day of peace and security for the nation. The new orbital battlestation is fully operational and our freinds the Xeno have been kind enough to provide protection to our fledgling nation.

But do not think that they're ships will be alone for long! We shall continue to expand our defences! We shall continue to reach out to new worlds! We shall continue to grow and we shall continue to prosper!

As of today, Star Zero will now engage in Intergalatic Trade in order to expand our diplomatic and economic stregnth!

Today is a new day!

Long Live Star Zero!"

The crowds erupted in cheering. President Cutter, daughter in hand, was now the first President of Star Zero.

The party of Xenos remained at the edge of the crowds. Several of the soldiers were scanning the area, tall enough to look over the heads of the people for threats. Major Zale had her arms crossed over her chest, watching the celebrations go on.

Polaris, Watchpost Sparrow
A video feed of the ceremony would be played over the base's public information network where Agrippa was stationed. It being months later, he was now officially a part of the Xeno.

Watchpost Sparrow is a heavy garrison located in the higher mountains of Polaris. It is equipped with dozens of large satellites and antennas. There are about two thousand Xeno at this particular place.

Captain Marthe sat beside him in the mess hall where a large holovid viewer was broadcasting the footage from Zero Point. She half-turned to look at him, "It would seem your friend has moved up in the world. Have you decided if you would rather join the Marines, or the Infantry?"

On Star Zero, Cutter was making excellent progress. The storefront had been opened for intergaltic trade, and the Naval Yards were building battleships, starfighters, and frigates at breakneck speed. The first Steelcraft Class Battleship was almost completed, and her two escort frigates were done.

Of course that would mean even more training. Agrippa had recieved EVA training already to be able to operate his armor in zero gravity, but being a Marine meant being an expert at the physics of combat in space. He would also recieve a higher course in boarding and ship defense than was offered in basic training.

Months later would find him on Captain Marthe's ship, the destroyer Leyte Gulf on routine patrol between XSS1, Polaris and Zero Point.

President Alexandia Cutter had decided that Star Zero needed to host a grand dipolomatic event. Something that would draw intergalatic leaders from far and wide. Something that would help people know who Star Zero was.

"Mommy! Mommy! Watch me dance!

Alexandia smiled and watched her daughter dance around thier suite. She wondered if they could pull off a formal dance. It certainly seemed plausible.

She made a phone call.

The Xeno were standing around outside of the government building. Several of the big Marines and Infantry in their armor, weapons unloaded and on slings over their shoulders.

Major Zale was speaking quietly, "I also want Captain Detro to deploy a recon squad to overview the government building here. See if you can get access to some rooftops." She reached out and thumped Detro's armored breastplate, "We must respect the soverignity of Zero Point, do not interfere with their security, but also be ready to protect their leadership if required."

The tall Xeno bobbed his armored head once in acknowledgement.

Another officer leaned in, ~Major, I expect you will be invited to whatever formal celebrations they hold.~

Zale looked over at the Xeno, then frowned a bit. "I didn't think of that. I suppose I'll have to get the shuttle to make another trip up to the Anzio for our formal uniforms."
