Today, the Roach-Busterian National Assembly passed its first law since the dismissal of former Chancellor Calvin Cyprian, Jr. The law, passed by a vote of 430-5 in the Chamber of Deputies and unanimously in the Senate, was signed into law by Chief Magistrate Terris Fitten, who also drafted the text of the bill. The Prohibition of Mixed Marriages Act "prohibits a man and a woman with a difference equal to or greater than 5 points on the Economic Left/Right and/or Social Libertarian/Authoritarian scale, from being legally married. All marriages between men and women with a difference equal to or greater than 5 points on the Economic Left/Right and/or Social Libertarian/Authoritarian scale, that were consummated before the passage of this act, are hereby declared null and void. All husbands and wives of these marriages are to report to a court within ten days to undergo an official, government-sanctioned divorce, or face five years' imprisonment or fines in excess of $50,000."

Critics charge that the law is "an attempt to revive former Minister Chue Vang's 'grand political apartheid.'"

Polls show that more than 97% of the population supports the act. The margin of error was 2-7%.

The Lone Alliance

The Lone Alliance states that we have stopped caring about what Roach-Busters does anymore, we just clasify them as an evil nation and leave it at that.

Official Imperial Statement

While we are sure the intent of this law was honourable and just, we question its purpose. Why, exactly, is it so important that so-called 'mixed marriages' be prevented? We in the Imperium find that it is actually somewhat more sensible to accept more families with differing political views, as that way it would be easier to root out Thought Criminals based on wiretaps of such families.

Kordo

While Kordo has long been a friend to Roach-Busters, it finds itself at a loss on how to respond to this new legislation passed. The total lack of common sense involving matters other than national security threatens the relations of our two nations. Kordo hopes that Roach-Buster's government will repeal this legislation that threatens its own people's safety.

ooc: I'm RP'ing a general shift of my nations politics shift to the middle hence the 'strong' response. Expect no changes in Kordo's relations with RB.

"The Imperator himself questions the validity of this law. While I can promise to repeal it, I will seriously consider doing so."
