New Space Power

IDF in Space

OOC: This is IDF's new space puppet. I am going to be RPing with Star Trek tech. I'm new to FT so give me time. I'm still RPing old IDF, these 2 nations are in different universes

IC: President Jerry Reinsdorf was now glad. IDF had finally completed her first space ship, the Miranda class destroyer ISS Miranda NCC-1. She wasn't an extremely strong ship. She featured 2 forward torpedo tubes and 6 Type VII phaser banks in addition to 2 more phaser cannons on the edge of the arch structure that was raised above the hull and also featured the torpedo tubes. She also featured 2 aft torpedo tubes.

The ship packed a punch for its size, but it was far outclassed by most starships in the world.

President Reinsdorf was glad that IDF would finally be a space nation. He looked at the San Francisco Shipyards and saw the hulls of 4 more Miranda class destroyers being constructed for the new starfleet. The first major starbase in orbit of the planet was nearing completion too. It would be nice for the growing starfleet that would soon fill it and hopefully rule space.

from : His Imperial Majesty Emperor Hiratoro, son of heaven, Ruler of the Empire of Kirisubo

We congratulate your great nation is achieving space flight. A few years ago we launched our first warp vessel the 'Kagemon' and now our second, the 'Hankoteki Na' has commenced its voyage from our plantary colony, New Kirisubo.

Maybe you'll meet one of them on the 'Miranda's' journey.

OOC: If I may, otherwise just a distress call.

IC: Optischer had also launched a first ship. Rather, petite. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/my_ships/mauretania.jpg t was just a small transport to space, until the elevator system connected with the station. 10 months after the first construction of the Mauretania, The first exploratipon ship was built. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/my_ships/kremlin2.jpg The new Kremlin set course for what was thought to be intelligent life.

OOC: if you want, your exploration vessel can encounter mine. Better yet, have your ship attacked by some group like the Orion pirates or Klingons and have me come to rescue it since I want to RP at least 1 space battle here.

IC:
The destroyer ISS Miranda was now leaving the planet IDF for the 1st time. The ship's auxiliary thrusters fired to lift the destroyer to an altitude of 80,000 feet. Captain Terrel was commanding her on this 1st mission of a real starship. IDF had had space ships before, but they were just orbital craft and neither was a real starship with weapons. They had long range warp exploration craft, but most had been mysteriously destroyed by the harsh pirates that occupy space. Now with newly developed technology, the Miranda class vessels would hopefully not deal with this problem.

When the Miranda was at a higher altitude, Terrel ordered the impulse engines to 1/4 impulse and the starship left the atmosphere and entered standard orbit. Once in orbit, the ship went to 1/2 impulse power, which would put it above IDF's escape velocity. Once clear, she further accelerated to full impulse power for her shakedown cruise. They passed the spacestation under construction. It was almost complete. The docking facilities were done by now and would now be the home of the Miranda when she returned from this cruise. In about a month, it would be fully operational and would have 2 more ships of the Miranda class to join the ISS Miranda. IDF was a late comer into space, but they were starting off rapidly, that was mainly due to the fact that the technology was now well known among many groups and thus easy to attain.

The Miranda was under impulse for an hour and then went to warp 7, her cruising speed.

The Kagemon (NX-01) was returning home to New Kirisubo after a year in space.

'Only a few more days to go', Ari Fujimoto thought 'then we'll be home for some shoreleave and our refit'.

She relaxed back in the chair in her ready room and the comm board beeped.

"what is it Hoshi?" she asks and gets a report off a vessel in their vicinity.

"i'm coming" she says and heads to the bridge.

"visual" she barks and sees a ship on the viewscreen not that much different from the Kagemon only in white and not her ships gun metal colour.

"Hoshi, hail them in all languages sending standard friendship messages and attach this.

This is Samurai-Captain Fujimoto from the New Kirisuban ship 'Kagemon'. Since we're in the neighbourhood I thought we should say hello and find out about each other'

ooc: The speech is in Kirisuban but they also speak english. the Kagemon has features of the first enterprise and the TOS romulan bird of prey. its a sleek vessel. its the size of the enterprise nx01

"Sir, we are being hailed a nearby ship," said the Comms officer.

"On screen," said Captain Terrel. "Greetings this is the IDF starship ISS Miranda. This is Captain Terrel commanding."

Terrel muted and looked over to his Science Officer, Pavel Chekov, "Scan them he said."

"Aye sir," began the Russian. "I vill scan them now. Sir, I'm having problems vith the scanners. Perhaps ve shall have to hawe a look at them after these shakedown cruise. Or perhaps Engineering can fix them now."

Terrel looked back at the main viewer. "We would like to ask what your business is here."

She walks closer to the view screen and replies in English "Captain Terrel, we're explorers returning home and our paths happened to cross.

Its our mission to find out more about the space ahead off us and to meet new people and races. May we ask about your mission?"

(Ari is an asian human with long black hair, in her early 30's. she wears the dark red wrap over jacket and this time a black knee length skirt and thigh high boots instead off the usual long black trousers. The rest of the bridge crew is female as well)

"Thank you Captain," began Terrel. "We are our society's first starship out on a shakedown cruise. We are hoping to start relations with civilizations we encounter on this cruise."

Terrel muted the mic and turned towards Chekov. "Mr. Checkov what can you tell me?"

"Scans show they are a wery powerful ship," responded the Russian. "We see they have quantum veapons, much more poverful than our veak photon torpedos."

Rhinara
22-01-2006, 00:04
(OOC: W00t! More Trek nations!)

IC:
The Rhinaran corvette (http://people.ucsc.edu/~mattko/corvette01.JPG) watched the slow convergence of the three simple spacecrafts on its sensors, intercepting and reviewing the comms traffic passing in and out of each of them. The ship was cloaked, of course, as Rhinarans were rather secretive people. Even more so than their cousins, the Romulans.

Yet, they lacked the forehead ridges common in so many Romulans. But woe to he who called one of these people "Vulcans" to their face, for the Rhinarans had rejected the ways of Surak and joined the diaspora that would one day lead the travelers to the world of Romulus. But these Rhinarans never reached that world. As was bound to happen from hundreds of years of sublight travel, the crude generation ships began falling apart. Vessel after vessel were lost to the void of space, its passengers frozen and forgotten in the frigid darkness. One of these ships, the Sbah Teresh-Kah, however, entered a previously undetected, and very unstable wormhole and was hurled to the other side of the galaxy before crashing on a nearby planet. With much of the ship staying intact, and without the internal fighting that the Romulans would face for centuries to come, the Romulan people's very own "Dark Age", those of the Sbah Teresh-Kah managed to unite together from the very start; a small group of people in a wildly inhospitable world that was dominated by a large, winged predator that saw the new arrivals as a food source. In time, these people, no longer the Rihannsu, but the Rhinarae, once again returned to the stars to become a power that even their cousins would fear. Even with no contact between the Romulans and the Rhinarans, both cultures developed along parallel lines, seeking to work from the shadow, pulling the string from a distance.

And so here they were, watching ever so vigilantly. For by knowing yourself can you go on the defensive, but only by knowing the enemy can you go on the offensive, as an ancient human general once put it. Yet, passively watching can only get you so much information. To truly know who or what you were up against, you must lure them into exposing their strengths and weaknesses; and sometimes, friendly conversations over the channels were just not enough to get that kind of information.

"Contact the nearest relay outpost and request for a holodrone to arrive as soon as possible - but retaining stealth," the captain of the scoutship said.

"Yes, Commander," another officer replied. A microwormhole opened up between the corvette and the outpost, hidden from outsiders by the ship's cloaking field and prohibiting any possibility of the message from being intercepted. "Request confirmed and approved. The drone is on its way here."

The captain continued going over the messages sent back and forth between the Miranda and the Kagemon, gathering up as much intel on these ships, their people, and their purpose as possible while the holodrone made its way there. When the drone would arrive, they would attack one of those three alien ships, and thereby gauge the true power of the aliens.

(OOC: For info on the corvette class, I've some stats at http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10137070&postcount=27, under "Corvette".)

"I will gladly join you for dinner," said Terrel. "I can beam over at your discretion. I would like to let you know that I have diplomatic powers given to me by my government. Perhaps we can work out an alliance here seeing as how we are both new in space and probably could do much more if we joined in developing technology."

Hoshi cuts the transmission and calls in her 1st officer Nomi Onazuka into the ready room for a conference. The younger woman says "Ari, they seem peaceful enough and appear to be on the same type of mission as we are"

The captain nods and says "tell chef to prepare some white rice, cooked prawns and the pickled vegetables. Green tea as well"

"Hai, sencho" she replies and heads into the lift to organise the dinner.

Captain Terrel was beamed aboard the Kagemon when the proper signal was given. He saw that her captain seemed to be of Earth origin. Terrel's group had come from a forgotten colony of Earth that had gained independence and was now becmong its own civilization.

Terrel had much to discuss with this Captain Fujimoto. It was an interesting name he had. He had a hebrew first name and a Japanese surname. There ought to have been an interesting story there. Both groups seemed to be new to having a starfleet, but they could build off of eachother. Captain Terrel had received instructions to form an alliance or at least a friendship with this group.

She turns to the tactical officer and says "we've got an alien ship approaching at 1/8 impulse. They seem friendly so far but I can't translate their message"

The female tactical officer looks at the ship on the viewscreen wondering what to make of the vessel.

"keep working on the translation Hoshi" she says and send this back in all languages.

Commander Pavel Checkov was both the acting Science Officer and the First Officer of the ISS Miranda.

http://www.tovok7.de/oldpage/startrek/classic/chekov.jpg

He saw the Maxia class vessel approach off of his starboard bow. “Ensign, scan that ship,” ordered Checkov.

“Sir, it appears to be a Ferengi vessel,” said the Ensign. “We don’t have a registry of their ships. I have no idea what class it is.” The only reason Starfleet knew of the Ferengi was from unmanned exploration probes that had discovered many races in the Alpha and Beta quadrants, but little had been discovered about the groups other than their existence.

“Hail them,” said Checkov. “Ferengi vessel, this is the IDF vessel ISS Miranda. Ve are out on an exploration mission. And ve have nothing to trade.”

OOC: Good name for the class, except you shouldn’t name it after a losing battle. Picard kicked your sorry Ferengi asses at Maxia, although USS Constellation was destroyed too.

Terrel was now aboard the Kisburo ship. “Greetings Captain,” he said. “I am Captain Terrel of the ISS Miranda. It is a pleasure to meet you. I see both of our civilizations are new to this. My people have explored for a long time in unarmed scientific vessels, but our nation just just decided to have a military in space as we have learned that space is a hostile environment. We have much to learn from eachother, and I would like to offer an alliance between our spacefaring people. We can use eachother to build our economies through trade and also have joint research projects, not to mention fighting the Orion Pirates that have attacked our science vessels.”

OOC: Actually, its named after the star system, not the battle itself (the class ship was actually built in the Enterprise era, at least a couple hundred years before the Battle Of Maxia).

Also, here is the current version of the map of the galaxy (not Milky Way Galaxy) I call home (thanks to SeaQuest for making it): http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/6279/homegalaxymarkvii4gb.gif

Bowls of sticky white rice, pickled vegetables and prawns await them as a stewart serves the bowls of fish soup.

Commander Checkov got the translation from the universal translator that had been purchased by an IDF merchant ship and then replicated on IDF’s home planet.

”Ferengi wessle,” began the Russian “Ve have nothing to trade with you.”

Kisburo ship

Captain Terrel enjoyed his rice. He had always liked food from the Asian continent of Earth. While IDF was new to having a military in space, they had been space travelers for almost a century. IDF had long had warp ships that carried out trade, but they never saw a need for a military until the Orion Pirates and Klingons decimated the merchant fleet.

He began talking tohis counterpart. “We haven’t had a chance to engage them yet in this ship. I hope some Orions show up as we are ready to deal with them now. This isn’t an unarmed merchant ship like the others.”

I noticed that the Miranda is more heavily armed that most ships we come across. The rest of them usually outgun us but the Kagemon is a sleek fast ship and we've no problem in getting away from hostile ships"

Ari eats some rice and vegetables and asks Captain Terrell "Now you're on your shakedown cruise where do you think your path will lead now?"

"Our ship is well armed considering this is our first serious starship with intent for battle. We didn't develop all of our technology on our own. We bought much of it. We don't have the ability for quantum torpedos on our ship though. Our tubes are too small, but we are designing ships that can use them. We don't even have phaser arrays yet. We use phaser banks and pulses on this ship."

"As for where we are going. We are going to continue exploration with this ship. Our transports can't do that as they are often lost due to new races attacking them. We also will use our ships to patrol space routes for trade. and try to make allies."
