The bones were there. The heart was there. The sword was there. The shield was there. The Temple of the Dragon was ancient, at least twenty-six hundred years, perhaps more. Sitting almost five hundred meters below the Vatnajökull glacier on southern Iceland was the temple, covered by ice and earth from volcanic explosions throughout time. This was where the shield was, the last item of the Great Warrior Comhghall.
Years earlier, the Irish countryside had been probed for the most important artifact of Comhghall, his heart. It had been found. Months earlier, the expedition led them to this site and since then it had been drilled to and finally, only one week prior, they had reached the Temple. Incursions into the temple were something out of Doom3, the video game, scary and horrific. Six men had been killed, three went missing, and all who entered came out a different person. The heart had been found though and now they were about to put everything together.
Dr. Rachel Wilson, who had led the expedition into the Irish countryside was now leading the expedition here. The Temple of the Dragon had two very large chambers, the entrance chamber, whcih was, more or less, just a small gathering hall, which was probably used for meals. The second chamber was another gathering chamber but it had an altar, which was definitely used for sacrifices. From the inscriptions on the wall they were definitely human sacrifices. The place made everyone uneasy. This was a temple filled with evil and darkness. The Great Warrior Comhghall was nothing but darkness. His quest, written in legends, was something of pure revenge, the revenge he sought against the gods for banishing him to the middle world for falling in love with a maiden, Cordelia when love was forbidden.
