OOC: Well, the PSC is basically like Gerhard Schroeder's SPD in Germany. Committed to social democracy but explorative of neoliberalist policies in order to protect national economic integrity. On the political spectrum, they're a -2 economically, -2 socially (libertarian). The true socialist party is the Workers' Cooperative Alliance - support nationwide is 0,4%. ;)

OOC: Ell was outspoken when he needed to be, but I guess it's because you're ICly used to being with me and not against me that it's more shocking. Sorantanali is kind of the same thing.

Most likely scenario right now is a PSC minority, a PSC-Green coalition government, or, at worst, an awkward PSC/FPD grand coalition.

I say you go a PSC minority and a FDP majority coalition. FDP's policies are mroe inline with Space Union ones, so I don't think a PSC would do much good. If you know what I'm saying. ;)

PARADISE CITY (Town Crier) -- In an unprecedented move Tuesday, President Fernanda publicly declared his support for Constantino Sorantanali's ruling Progressive Democrats in Pacitalia's ongoing election battle, telling reporters at a Frowning Street Mansion news conference that he had no desire to see one of the world's most influential democracies "turn themselves over to a bunch of fecking communists."

Voicing his alarm at the increased support for Fernando Chiovitti's far-left Pacitalian Social Coalition, Fernanda at times sounded incoherent and rambling as he railed against "the [bleeping] communists!!" and their desire "to destroy freedom."

Asked his opinion about Sorantanali, Fernanda responded, "Who the [bleep] cares?! At least he's not a filthy commie!!"

A reporter began a follow-up question: "Mr. President, what's your view on Pacitalia's ... ?"

"I don't care!! This press conference is over!!" the president screamed, punching a reporter as he stormed from the briefing room."Fucking communists," Fernanda growled as he tossed a briefing file across his desk in disgust. "Alex, what the hell do we do about this?!"

"Absolutely nothing, Mr. President," replied Tehrani.

"Nothing? How does that accomplish anything?"

"Precisely, and if tons of foreign money should mysteriously turn up in the FPD's coffers, we had nothing to do with it!"

"Oh, God! Not the international 'insurance' scam again!"

"It worked wonders in the Greater Highlands, Mr. President."

"Right, the Greater Highlands. What happened to them, again?"

"Erm, all the outrage over foreign leaders buying their election led to all of their leaders being slaughtered in a bloody coup three weeks later ... but, but that doesn't mean it'll happen this time!"

"When the hell will people learn?" grumbled the Destructor. "Democracy simply doesn't work! World leaders would be better off simply whoring themselves to the corporations!"

"Like you do, Mr. President?"

"Exactly. Now what time is it?"

"Two in the afternoon, Mr. President."

"Great," Fernanda said as he pulled a stack of ones from his top drawer. "I'll be at the nudie bar."

Side note - the PSC isn't far-left, they're more like, as I said, the SPD in Germany, a soft leftist (-2,-2 on the polispec). So, I'm just presuming that's what Fernanda and your media thinks of the party. 's okay, though. We all love you anyway. :fluffle:

To: Dr. Alexander Farndorber
From: Foreign Minister Chong Moua

"We've never met, but I have extensively researched your party and its wise, sensible positions on the issues. Yours is the only party fit to rule your nation. Only a rightist, moral, level-headed individual such as yourself can steer Pacitalia away from Ellian Marxism and toward progress. I would like to donate five million dollars to your party's campaign, or more, if needed. I will stop at nothing until your party comes on top, and Pacitalia throws off the shackle of communism once and for all."

To: Chong Moua, Foreign Minister, Roach-Busters
From: Dr. Alexander Farndorber, President of the Partia di Traditionale

I thank you for your honourable comments, sir.

As much as I would like to accept such a gracious donation and show of faith, I regretfully must inform you that election donation rules are very strict in Pacitalia. Foreign donations were banned as of New Year's Day, which means those dirty Soviet firebreathers cannot brainwash the public anymore. You can see the results of that ban in the polls - the CPP is floundering.

Still, the ban applies to all foreign sources, even Pacitalian allies. Roach-Busters has been banned from contributing to campaign finances since about May of last year, so it is almost a double whammy.

I wish there was something else you could help with, but the rules are crystal clear for this very reason. The Marxist prime minister and his cronies seem to feel cutting off foreign sources of financial campaign contribution is the best way to ensure his cesspool of a "conservative" party is re-elected over and over again, and sadly, it seems to be working.

I thank you for your interest. May the wise ideologies of today and yesterday live on forever, and triumph over communism.

The Marxists watch the bank accounts of every party. Trust me, they'll know right away. This would only harm the PdT's reputation. I plan to self-exile to Roach-Busters or something anyway, as does much of my party.
