OOC: Need Comments on Race Change [MT]
Well, after RPing with Vymmpyr (I still can't spell his name correctly) in the NSWW for some time I have become quite interested in RolePlaying as an alternated human race (him being vampires, of course) with his nation being a refuge for such a race.
My idea is having a slightly weaker human being, having more fragile bones and the such, but having a special characteristic, they have small wings (which can be expanded such as most birds do to their sides) that are attached to their shoulder blades which are used to control them.
With the weaker bones, they need stronger muscles (for flight and survivability) so of course they would be slightly stronger for less muscle worth than a normal human being, but my real problem is that, like most flight-able animals, fast recovery of wounds, from broken bones to bullet holes.
Other than the ability to fly (though like most animals, not for long, and not with a lot of armor, in a war sense) and their ability to recover quickly from wounds, I see no problem with people accepting this concept.
I would like to see some suggestions on things such as more detail, or other/less abilities this race may have. I would also like to hear some feedback on people who would refuse to even acknowledge my existence as this race, which due to my nations history, I will call Truittis (since I don't use the name "Truitt" for anything anymore except as a historical colonial mark).
So yeah, feel free to yell out some things here on this.
I would say it sounds like an interesting idea. Though I know that there will be and are many nations that will refuse to aknowledge your face simply because they want to keep it "realistic" in the sense that humans are the only "intellegent" species.
The only thing I would say is, add a little bit of detail to there "unique" characteristics. Such as, how much faster do they heal, what are teh size of their wings, how fast can they fly, how far can they fly without resting, etc...

I find it acceptable, as long as they cant fly at ridiculous speeds. In wartime their ability to fly will provide great mobility, but would rarely be used on the battlefield since they can be easily targeted. It can still be usful for surprise attacks, and crossing difficult terrain with ease
Well, I plan on using the whole flying aspect as part of my culture and uniqueness, not as a weapon unless it is boosting from the street to the roof to secure sniper possitions faster or surround the enemy much more effectively in the urban enviroments.
I plan on typing up a clear way on how the race came about (like some sort of a mix-breed created during WW2, since my entire nation revolves around German scientists, American bankers, Italian militarymen, and Mexican wanna-be superpowers) and their specific characteristics, still giving normal humans their own abilities (such as these Truittis are more fragile in their bone mass and thus are injured easily in hand-to-hand and with simple bullet wounds).
I just want to see some more comments and suggestions before I type anything out. I figured, since I was one of the first to be a full-time fantasy RPer when I was new (but quickly changed since there were more terrorists than ogres), why not revive my race but in MT?
It would be quite interesting, and as a note, their flight is only comparable to gliding and basics, no speed-flying (unless diving) and all the likes. That and they'll be small...like a male adult being 5" 5' average.
Average Adult Male Height: 5' 5"
Average Adult Female Height: 5' 6"
Wing Span: ~ 7' 2" (Male)
Wing Description: No hair, dark-colored (usually dark brown or black), resembles bat wings.
Detail on Race:
Has emerald green eyes (states the name "Emeraldia" of the islands they live in) which usually are all-black (pupil expansion) unless dormant and resting, and has normally everything else that resembles human beings with the exception of skin being naturally quite tan, similar to Arabic or Hispanic people, and has brown hair with blonde highlights (some believe due to salt water being in hair constantly through generations with the sun bleaching portions which the hair has stayed the same all these years). Tounges on certain sub-race are also longer and some sub-races also have larger wings, or smaller wings, or other variations.
This particular information states the basic of the races, Raptioric, the dominant of the Truitti race (comparable to Germanic being the dominant of European or Chinese of Asian).
Bones are very hollow and weak, but heal quite quickly. Very much within the time of a three-month recovery, for a human, of a broken leg bone being only a month time for a Truitti. Easily fractured, thus making Truittis weak in driving accidents, hand-to-hand combat, and such.
A unique portion of Truittis are that they also have tails, which are shaped like the famous Nightcrawler from X-Men (a Nightprowler), and also resemble it in shape and hairlessness. Their use of it is extremely useless, comparable to dog and cat tails but much mroe flexable and could be used to "slap" or push objects which are light enough. Some can work on muscle strength and make them able to lift objects, also.
Muscle strength of Truittis in all is quite below average, usually comparable to stereotypical asian races, such as the Vietamese and Laotians. Average weight lifting for a European is twenty pounds over their weight, while an Truitti, healthy, is lucky to lift his or her own weight.
The race overall is quite simular to those of humans with slight "fictional" features, the most notable of course being the wings, which add little to no advantage.
The wings are strong enough (unless worn down, like any muscle) to carry most bodies to any height really, just along as personal stamina gives way (as physical programmes in school promote this), and speeds, straight flight, is impossible, as flight is made from rising up and then inclining downward. Use on the battlefield actually is disapproved because it makes them easier targets and strategically would cause even more of a reason for the enemy to be unaccurate (now being able to shoot randomly into the air due to lack of manuverability unless in high altitudes and gaining high dive speeds before hand, which is mostly impossible).
Wing catch is 80 knots, which means once it passes that speed the wings can no longer hold their own (the thin skin inbetween bones and legaments), which proves that use in ejection of their flying capability is useless if shot down. The maximum a Truitti would fly from a dive is about fifty miles an hour in a pure dive.
Anything else?

I'd accept it, very much. Hell, I'd even want to try a practice war with you against my Reptilian race of Komodren. They are used in MT in a special sense, but I mainly provide them in FT.

I believe you have the idea of the Avian people in mind.
Avian, as in the Bird Flu? I based these off of a mixture of Vampires (tounge and recovery), Nightprowlers (tail, wing appearance, and skin/eye/hair), and Angels (the wing size and how they fly)
I see no reason why most would not accept this, as it just gives more RP flexability, because MT 2010 gets boring after a while.
I plan on making it that my nation is entirely this race, as a refuge, because I begin as a 1941 breakoff of Italy, and say that the islands were used as German-based testing grounds during the war for new strategical soldiers and a whole civilization comes out of it or something....

The Emeraldians in the way you have described seem to be pretty good and well thought out. As well this race, in my opinion would have a good place on Nation States.

No the people. A mix of human and bird whom are be able to fly. The Avian People.

The biggest thing is to state your races/species characteristics BEFORE you start using them in a thread, and then stick with them. Worst thing is to make up characteristics/abilities spontaneously. At the beginning of the thread, I described them and how they were different from Hollywood's version. You may have to do this 3 or 4 times before a majority of the players on NS see it.
Looks good. I'd allow it.
OOC: This is very interesting and it seems you have put a great deal of thought and effort into the making of such a race. Though its quite similar (physical appearance) to a race called Atavian in a game called Achaea.

Not really. Atavians in Achaea are just winged humans. I'd allow your nation in an RP, since technically the leader of my nation isn't really human.
Well then, its offical. My nation is a nuch of mud-bloods (Harry Potter terms) of Truittis.
Lets see....a little more detail.
I will also edit my first post (thread-post) to where it has all the information wrapped up in one so I can just link people to my race.
Raptioric (Raptorians): A race that souly is pure in its own, the Raptiorics come from the Raptioric Federation of the original Emeraldian Colonies.
Emeraldian (Emeralds): An other pure race, these are more characterized with brown hair and brown eyes, a decendant of some sort of a Germanic tribe.
Dugh (Dugese People): A mix blood race, the Dugese People are made up of Spanish-like influence and English, altering skin and eye tones.
Shire (Shireans): Italian-influenced Truitti which shows in blue eyes, brown hair, and light skin. The only pale race of Truittis, it resembles that of sterotyped vampires and "goth."
Furschen (Firefests): A genetically-altered Truitti who has recovered from a series accident which a limb or major portion of the body was effected. Shown in lighter or darker tones of skin than other reas of the body.
Hmm. I like the races very much.
Well then, my last little bump until I put it into full effect, then.
I like it. By the way is the Topal WWNS theatre still going? I havent a clue. PDC is very quiet.
I believe it is, I think PDC is just away this weekend. I was supposed to, too, but my parents decided they wanted "Family Time" (too bad we are all in different rooms....some family time).
But hey, maybe he's thinking what to do next, I mean, I really owned him at sea >.>
