Before this gets off the ground I would like to inform all who are interested in joining in that I am opening this roleplay as the Earth of a parallel universe henceforth named 'Earth Prime'. As with this being a parallel universe an entirely different series of events have happened starting from 1978-79.

For Example: In Earth Prime the Soviet Union's 1979 invasion of Afghanistan — while becoming one of the most costly wars in the Soviet Union's history since World War II, the invasion resulted in Afghanistan's defeat and annexation as the sixteenth republic of the USSR in 1981.

Instead of the Soviet Union collapsing and disintegrating into fifteen nation-states as it did in 1991, it merely grants independence to the Baltic republics and from the next few years afterwards slowly evolves into a democratic federation of republics.

And last but not least, in 1999 the state of California declared independence from the United States followed by Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon and Nevada causing twenty more to secede in their wake over the course of the next decade to form the Californian Federation. Through the course of small territorial skirmishes the Californian Federation managed to aggrandize its land area through repeated skirmishes with the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, and other nations in and around the Californian mainland.

Now that we have that out of the way, roleplays will be conducted as follows:

1. Massive empires will not be accepted without any plausible reason offered via roleplay. All occupied territories must be either adjacent to your nation or within your ability to project your military's strength.

2. No unrealistic armies, you cannot begin your roleplay right off by claiming a standing army of tens of millions. Everything has to be roleplayed as realistically as possible — even clones take time to produce in massive quantities.

3. All territorial claims made must be roleplayed in order to be taken seriously, claims can be made to any unclaimed territory, but must still be roleplayed as to how that nation-state acquired and secured it as their own.

4. All claims to territory claimed by other nations must also be roleplayed if you are to be creditted with actually possessing such territory(s), both sides must be in agreement to the transfer of territory or claims will receive absolutely no validation.

5. No use of any 'futuristic technologies' or technology that is far more advanced than the current technology of the era the roleplay takes place in, such claims and use of technology in this roleplay will immediately warrant an ignore by most if not all players participating in this roleplay.

I think I have most, if not everything covered — I will be listing primary claims of nations who are participating in this roleplay in my next post, so that everything is all within one post and easier to find for everyone's convenience.

Also, of course... the official in-context starting date of this roleplay will be January 1, 1998.

Now, to specify the location of Preussen-Pommerellen on the map, I figure the best is to simply link to the map in question:

As you can see, the Kingdom features parts of Germany (including Bremen and Bremerhaven), Poland and the what is known IRL as the "Kaliningrad Oblast"(Historical Eastern Prussia).
It also includes Switzerland and Liechtentstein with various suzerainity and other relations that shall be detailed later on.

Now, as of the rest of Germany, I would appreciate if it was claimed by somebody with whom I'd be able to establish friendly relations (due to the two enclaves that do need connection... but then again, the Soviets allowed NATO access to West Berlin, so I am sure something can always be worked out). Oh, and since Germany is also cut in two, I figure an access to below would also be welcome for whoever plays it.

Anyway.

As of a short history, it is all very simple. You see, in my little universe, there was an uprising in Eastern Germany in 1978-1979. Whilst the Soviets were busy conquering Afghanistan, East Germans (I figure with non official NATO support) rose up against the bad commies. Civil war ensues, Poland intervenes, fighting goes into Poland and then the Soviets come in and the crazy Germans push into Kaliningrad.

At the end of the war, the USSR and Poland accept to give the historic Prussia and the territory of Pommerellen (northern Poland) to the crazy Germans. Wank? Maybe, but free form RP, remember :p Besides, the fact that it did not happen IRL does not mean it was impossible. A republic is proclaimed, which then evolves into a constitutional monarchy. Then various German Lander vote in referenda to join the Kingdom, one after the other (wanky? See above). And so do three Swiss Cantons... and the rest of Switzerland (and Liechtenstein, since it is totally tied to the good ole Helvetia anyway) joins in a sort of suzerainity.

Well, of course, all this is kind of unbelievable and all, but that is how it is. Now, if nobody takes Germany, then I won't be against claiming it in some suzerainity thingy. Otherwise, if somebody absolutely wants it... then go ahead. But I wouldn't mind having the opportunity to build and OMG European Empire sort of thing.

Hmmm, by the way, Cali, how do we proceed? All the posting goes in this thread or will new threads(tagged [Earth Prime only]) appear over time?

I figure we should just roleplay as we always do, but if asked we specify that it's for Earth Prime... *shrugs*

After the conflicts, I held ON, MB, SK, PQ, NWT, Nun, PEI, NB, NS, NF, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Brazil, Guyana, French Guyana, Suriname, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. I kinda let it slide when you took Alberta and bought Labrador. But yeah, I have no idea when or why you'd be taking these other locations from me.

On that note, I will claim, Spain, Portugal, Morrocco, and Gibraltar.

HISTORY:

In 1978, newly democratic Spain wishes to establish stronger ties with its neighbors and proposes the Gibraltar Trade Pact. portugal, Morrocco, and the Birtish enclave of Gibraltar join the pact.

In 1981, Gibraltar holds a plebicite by request of Spain and formally becomes one of the autonomous provinces of Spain.

By 1989 the nations involved in the pact have grown closer together and by a unanimous vote all three nations hold a plebicite. All oif the nations join into one nation called the Gibraltar Federation.

The new federation has complete control over the Strait of Gibraltar and immediately sets about createing a low tariff on goods passing through and declareing that only civillian and trade ships may pass through the waters that are now sovereign waters of the Gibraltar Federation.

By 1999 the nations economy has grown drastically and is coupled with its strong merchant fleet and worldwide market. A new an powerful nation in world politics has been formed.

Because this is a brand new RP happening in a parallel universe involving only the nations that are part of this parallel universe. And so far, there are not so many of such nations ;)

I will refer to myself as Imperial Africa, and because i'm a dork, use Imperial Ranks from Star Wars. The Leader will be A puppet "Emperor", while the Puppeteer and actual leader is Grand Moff Kane.

HISTORY:

Up to 1983: Same

1983: Democracy is restored, however, the newly elected conservative president makes the fatal mistake of not getting a tight hold on the military.

1993: Teniente General Adolfo Salcedo overthrows the democratic government, beginning a horribly brutal military dictatorship, Communist guerillas under Eduardo "Lalo" Fonseca rise up in eastern Buenos Aires province.

1995: Lalo's guerillas merge with another guerilla army around Resistencia led by Ricardo Fidel Campos.

1998: Guerillas take power.

Tyrador claims Italy and Corsica

HISTORY:

1959: Italy Annexes Corsica from France without much trouble after Italians there strike and hold massive protests against the French Army's conduct Indo China.

1970: Race riots in Corsica are put down by NATO forces, non-native italians are deported en masse a month later.

1988: Due to isolationist's lobbying, a general vote is held and in a close 67% win, Italy withdraws from NATO.

1997: General Sevillus is elected president and bribes the assembly to make him "Emperor" of the "Italian Empire" martial law is declared a week later and protesters are scilenced quickly, soon pro imperial rallies are held in the streets of rome.
1998: The Vatican is raided and the Swiss Guard along with the Pope, monsigners and other clergy are escorted to Switzerland and banned from returning. This marks the begining of a dark time for the Italians as a draft is enstated and the militarization of Italy begins.

Also... the Ascendant Entente Group of International States (AEGIS) Pact Organization is accepting members. However we must warn you that as a member of AEGIS you cannot be a member of NATO, you may have diplomatic relations with nations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, but your nation cannot be a member of AEGIS and NATO at the same time.

The current members of AEGIS are Assington (China), Sovereign California (California), The Soviet Republics (Soviet Union), and Tyrador (Italy).

Hyperspatial Travel claims Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. (Essentially, Australia, NZ, and most of the islands up to near Malaysia).

History:


Up to 1984: Same, except for the fact that Indonesia has grown much larger (in terms of population, not land), and faster.

1984: Indonesia, starved for resources, invades New Zealand. Australia and New Zealand throw the rapidly growing nation off, however, the collapsing world leads to the loss of the northern island of New Zealand

1986: Indonesia simply begins mass-migrations to Australia. The Indonesian 'invasion' is once again repelled, and multiple cruise missiles are launched at Indonesian cities. Full-out war is once again declared.

1990: After four years of relatively bloody war, Australia, Indonesia, and New Zealand sign a peace pact. Massive amounts of the Indonesian population have been decimated, and no-one can afford war any longer.

1993: The Australasian Federation is formed, comprised of Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Australia, East Timor, and a few pacific isles. The governments simply merge into one larger government, stationed in Brisbane, Australia, however, it is suspected that this confederation, which appareared to have happened spontaneously, was planned by the leaders of the seperate governments. Trade barriers are let lax, and Australia, Indonesia, and New Zealand all embark on a massive desalination program, to improve the Australian continent's water supply.

1998: The seperation of the AF government takes place, making the Indonesian area, and the Australian/New Zealand areas, autonomous governments under their own rights. They are, in terms of trade, and military protection, still one country.

1991: Mikhail Gorbachev is quickly 'replaced' as leader of the Soviet Union after his quick 'reforms'.

So, you wish to play as the Soviet Union? Great... however, you have to leave Bulgaria to 'Balkania' :) Also you would have to also include in your history the Soviet Union's retaking of the Baltic States... but that shouldn't be too hard. :P

Also... I would like you to join AEGIS... it's basically an anti-United States, anti-NATO alliance.

Now we just need someone to play the United States east of the Mississippi (as I control Florida as well as the United States west of the Mississippi-St. Croix Rivers—this includes the parts of Minnesota and Louisiana which are infact east of the Mississippi). But as soon as someone does come along to take the reins of what's left of the United States of America... we can get this roleplay started.

I am in an exam period, so... yeah... even fewer posting than before. Which, from zero to zero, doesn't really change much :\ Meh. Might scribble a couple lines, like now.

Oh, and Kurt, by the planned scenario, the USSR already had what remained of Poland as a republic. Oh, and Finland, too. So I guess you have those for free.

However, it does not include the Kaliningrad Oblast, since it's Prussian now :p Must not forget to blow up that ugly commie building and rebuild the Teutonic castle.

Well, yeah, but the Kaliningrad Oblast is still part of Prussia, regardless of the other Baltic states ;) However, as far as the initial scenario was concerned, Finland became part of the USSR :o

Yay! Done with written exam, a little oral exam in history left on July the 4th. In other words, I am back to RPing and posts shall be forthcoming shortly... I think I'll also RP a second anschluss with Austria, considering that other thread you posted in II where it said zee Ostereich army went ka-bewm. So the bigger German brothers shall take them under protection. And maybe cede the southern bit of Carinthia with its Slovenian and southern Burgenland with its Croatian populations to the crazy Yugos :rolleyes:
