ooc: First time rping here, tips and stuff apreciated lemme know what I'm doing is right

Geography:
The Dominion is situated on a barren, relatively small island that is roughly triangular shaped and lies far north of the equator. Originally named Durnham Isle, it was renamed to New Industria after the Revolution and the rise of the Corporations. The island's mountainous landscape is a result of long-dormant volcanoes and ancient earthquakes. Because of limited space for crop feilds, the Government has begun terrace farming programs in the islands southern regions... though competition with the ever-growing cities for land space is becoming a problem.
Three large cities dominate New Industria. Once, in a time before the Corporations, these were nothing more than successful fishing towns but have since been transformed into vast slums surrounding a massive industrial center. City Alpha, the capitol, lies in the middle of the Island on the New Hope river while City Beta claims much of the eastern coast and City Delta is to the northwest.

Population: 10 million
% below poverty line: 92%
Literacy Rate: 40%
Infant Mortality Rate: 45%

Government Type: Aristocratic Oligarcy
Description: The Dominion is composed of five allied Corporations who control Durnham Isle and use it's populace for financial and political gain. The Corporations each specialize in one aspect of governing and oversee that part of the country's needs. ZeoMatrix, the lead Corporation, manufactures arms and combat vehicles and oversee's the Dominion's small but effective army of mercenaries. NodTech, a massive international conglomerate headquartered in the Dominion of New Industria but with branches everywhere, is a large manufacturer of information and communication technology. It's CEO, Arnold Huxley, is also the head of the Dominion's secret police and propaganda department, which ensures that none on New Industria lose the working spirit... and any who do disappear. Faust Co. is a large international pharmicutical company oversees farming and food production as well as healthcare (only for the wealthy, of course). Global Shipping Inc. is a massive import/export business that runs foriegn policy and WorldWorks, a large mining firm, is in charge of work quotas and raw material harvesting.

Physical Desc: Tall, thin man with black hair and dark eyes. His face is harshly defined with high cheek bones and a prominant chin. He has a drawn mouth with pale, thin lips that are either smirking or sneering. He usually wears an all black business suit with either a black or red silk shirt underneath.
Personality: Desmond is the man who masterminded the 'Revolution' and Corporate takeover, but his arrogance exceeds his brilliance by light years. He is a self-assured, subtly cocky sociopath who can talk circles around nearly everyone... how do you think he got this job?

Chairman of Internal Security: Arnold Huxley, CEO of NodTech
Chairman of Natural Resource Management: Randall Hartford, CEO of WorldWorks
Chairman of Agriculture and Healthcare: Jakob Alexander, CEO of Faust Co.

History of the Dominion:
For hundreds of years Durnham Isle was ruled by an inept, if inoffensive, isolationist monarchy who focused more on lavish spending and parties for the Nobility rather than building an effective, strong nation. To say that the people lived in povery would be untrue, the fishing industry dominated the economy a fed the ever-growing populace, but the general standards of living were not high. Nobles lived in luxury in increasingly modern palaces and mansions while the commoners fought harsh winters and oppressive summer heat. Fishing boats suffered from pirate attacks while the monarchy, it's young ruler suffering from schisophrenia and paranoia, sat idle. As technology skyrocketed in the world around them, the inhabitants of Durnham still depended on the telegraph machine to send messages. Electricity was a rarity and heating a luxurity. Slowly, the populace grow dissatisfied with their monarch... the whispers of revolt began to circulate.

Thousands of miles away from the Isle of Durnham in a boardroom , a group of enterprising industrialists, heads of major international corporations who wanted more than just financial security, plotted against the peoples of Durnham. the island was remote, far from the worlds attention... and full of resources- human and otherwise. Each company would form a peice of the tolitarian government that would in effect enslave the populace... they had the money, man power, and resouces for the takeover- all they needed was a Revolution. Operatives from the Corporations, who now secretely called themselves 'the Dominion', organized a Revolution on Durnham Isle in which the mentally feeble and politically inept monarchy was overthrown. Quickly into the resulting power vacuum stepped the mercenary armies of ZeoMatrix, who seized the small nation and within a matter of weeks created police state. The Corporations established headquarters and thousands of mines, factories, and refineries on Durnham, which they quickly renamed 'New Industria'. Each 'Citizen' was assigned a job and given a work quota based on ability. As freedom died on the island the population boomed, creating a massive excess of labor and as many 'Human Resources' as the Corporations need. Massive shanty towns and slums sprung up around factories and ship yards, and the Secret Police force is second to none. Prostitution, murder, gang violence and other crimes are overlooked as long as the civilians fill their work quotas and say nothing negative about the Corporations.
While the large majority of New Industria lives in poverty, Corporation Executives and Overseers live in luxurious skyscrapers clustered in the center of each city and surrounded by a wall. Wealthy families live in ignorant bliss and gladly serve the Corporations, who give them the best food, healthcare and housing money can buy, as their poor brothers starve or die at the hands of shock troopers. But even the rich must watch what they say, for the secret police are constantly watching for enemies of the Corporations.

After several years of isolation, during which the Corporations perfected their control of the Island, the Dominion is looking for trade partners... and possibly to expand.
