His Majesty, King Michael I, Dies Overnight

Imperium, New Britain (ABN) – In the overnight hours, His Majesty, King Michael I passed away in the privacy of his royal apartment at Newcastle Palace with his nephew, Prince Andrew, and doctors in attendance according to a statement released by the Newcastle Palace Press Officer. At that moment, the exact time remaining a secret for the time-being in accordance with royal family tradition, the ring worn by the sovereign of the United Kingdom was placed upon the ring finger of Prince Andrew, who then became King Andrew I of the United Kingdom of Azazia and Juristan.

Reaction to the death of the King has been one of surprise with the monarch long being hidden behind the veil of royal secrecy although in recent months news had spread of a debilitating and ultimately fatal disease, the identification of which is also being withheld by the royal family. However, throughout the day of sadness, protests erupted in several cities throughout the United Kingdom.

The first protest erupted in the city of Invershaw in New Ireland where a young man identified as Elliot Campbell, age 20, allegedly broke into the home of Invershaw’s first married homosexual couple where he shot them both dead in their front hall. The largely gay community then rose in protest, beating the accused severely until he was taken to St. Francis’ Hospital where he remains under police guard. The reaction continues to spread as the gay community has fought back against anti-gay protestors who had organised a march through the neighbourhood resulting in an ongoing armed conflict that local police are struggling to control.

In the city of Regal, Russian nationalists have taken the death of King Michael as an impetus to rally against the centralisation of powers in Imperium and to argue for devolution and the creation of an autonomous Russian state in the northwest of the United Kingdom. While this protest remains peaceful, footage from television crews above the protest in helicopters indicates several of the protestors are armed.

The Citadel has yet to release any official comment upon either the death of King Michael or the series of protests that have broke out throughout the United Kingdom, although a statement is expected later this evening.

To Presidents Patel and Sarzo,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those nations and those people who have offered their condolences and support to the people of the United Kingdom in this hour of great loss and sadness. In these times of uncertainty both at home and abroad both myself and my people are comforted by the statements made by both unknown persons and by those some in the United Kingdom have mistakenly labeled as enemies.

My dearest Azazian friends,

I did not have the luxury of knowing His Majesty personally, but my interaction with the Azazians and the foundations we cooperated to build have made me extremely proud to call the Azazian people our friends. After I heard of His Majesty's passing, I proceeded to read every scrap of literature I could find on the man, and with each piece of information I looked at, I served to become more and more impressed with him. He truly was a king of kings and he most certainly embodied the Azazian penchant for an undying spirit, a remarkable intelligence and an admirable industriousness.

He was truly one of the cornerstones of the increase of Azazia's profile abroad and perhaps incidentally responsible for bringing Azazia and Pacitalia together, and for that, I am blessed and honoured. His death should not be drawing Azazians apart - it should truly be the opposite. He was an honourable man, from what I see, and I wish his memory would not be tainted by these horrible protests. Come together and remember him.

May His Majesty rest in peace for all eternity. God rest his soul.

To His Imperial Majesty Reginald of the Glorious Empire of the Scandinvans,

I thank you for your most kind words and the most generous offer to help my people remember my late uncle, truly a giant among our own royalty.

To Dr. Ell of Pacitalia,

I would be most remiss in not expressing the gratitude of the people of the United Kingdom, many of who consider Pacitalia one of the UK’s greatest friend and ally. Indeed, your observations remain as keen as ever and I am too saddened that my uncle’s legacy may be tainted by the deplorable actions of those unhappy with the current civilian leadership; for there is a proper time and place to vent such anger and now is not that time.

The Guffingfordian administration feels no need to act melodramatic on the death of King Michael the first. Although his death might be sad for his family (and quite possibly his mistresses) Guffingford will not join the international cesspool of animated sadness and mourning. Isn't it obvious how the same nations - excluding Southeast Asia, a nation who finds it necessary to profilate themselves as the most caring humane nation, while being part of the ever-expanding ignorant clout roaming the international stage - respond to the same kinds of messages?

We did not know King Michael I, and even if we did, we would have sent a message with the same content. Azazia is still a nation we disrespect and and we will not hesitate to ridicule or insult your petty excuse for a nation. Think of it as a result of your NATO participation, we haven't forgotten. Azazia is for us nothing more than a relic, a fossil of British occupation and a masquerade of forced democracy and freedom.

May God grant him mercy, for we won't.

With no respect or sincerity,

Open Letters

Attn: the Right Honourable Prime Minister Neo

On the behalf of the Barent family and the people of the United Kingdom, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your kind words in these hours of darkness for our family. Perhaps in this tragedy our two peoples may find a mutual understanding that will serve to bring our two countries closer together.

Attn: the Right Honourable President Youngston II

Although neither your nation nor your alliance is known to the United Kingdom I thank you for kind words and rest assured that the condolences of the unknown weigh the same to my family’s heart as those of the known.

Attn: His Royal Highness King Matt the First

Your kind words mean a great deal to both myself and my people, King Matt, and they are most sincerely appreciated by the whole of the United Kingdom. Although I wish the circumstances of our introduction were of a far more joyous kind, perhaps the silver lining in my uncle’s death will be the blossoming friendship between our two kingdoms.

Sealed, Private Letter

Attn: Mr. Kalba

I hope this letter finds you well, Mr. Kalba, because I wanted to say that your letter came as a refreshing breath of fresh air into what has become an unbearable stuffy political fossil of British colonization. You are well within your bounds to disrespect my nation, especially in light of the former Prime Minister’s decision to enter the NATO organisation – as unwise and unwanted a move now as it was then.

Indeed, when the time is ripe, I intend to institute a series of changes in both domestic and foreign policy – including the United Kingdom withdrawing from NATO. I hope, Mr. Kalba, that when the time comes the great state of Guffingford would be willing to entertain the prospect of thawing our currently chilled relations.

Communiqué to His Majesty, King Andrew I

Dearest Andrew,

It is heartbreaking to hear the news of His Majesty King Michael's death, perhaps the most respected foreign royal from the perspective of my father and of myself. Forever shall he be remembered as a king that sought only the best for his nation, and the king fairest to us. Indeed, never before had we experienced such etiquette in the diplomatic field as we had experienced between Azazia and the Second Empire of the Golden Throne. King Michael, your father, will always be remembered as the most honorable man we have ever come across. Always open, always respectable, there was no match to his personality. It is in light of this in which I mourn for his death, and call an official halt to the day's operations in the war, calling a truce with my foes. For your king, the world shall remain silent; not a bullet, not a scream.

As for yourself, Your Majesty, I can only hope that all problems that have vented from the death of your father are solved with expedience. Azazia is not a nation that deserves hardship. Although I am exagerating a bit, since I have been looking for the independence of Novikov for much time, in the end, I can only hope well for you all.

I don't have much words to express myself with, so I leave you here and part. Good luck to the United Kingdom!
