Sorantanali to Mann: No talks if Space Union goes AbsoCap

By Manti Soratina-Murana; Domagnano, Palatinia

Constantino Sorantanali says he will not participate in a bilateral diplomatic convention with the Federative Sikh Republic of Space Union if the nation, Pacitalia's northeastern neighbour in Atlantian Oceania, decides to switch to an Absolute Capitalism system of governance. He made the comments today while campaigning in the Palatinian cities of Domagnano and Fiorentina.

SU's Federate, Harsimran Mann, suggested the idea of a pan-Foringanan Conference between Space Union, Izistan, Pacitalia and Moepoeia to discuss matters on the home continent and both trade and military strategies. Pacitalian government intentions were originally to agree to the conference but with rumours in Space Union's various news broadcasting agencies suggesting the government there wants to change to absolute capitalism, the mood seems strikingly different.

"We will not," Sorantanali said, "associate with nations that choose that road. Absolute capitalism is blatantly neofascist, and while its supporters say it provides people with the same civil rights as before in Space Union, there will still be some revocation there. It will be a stain on the continent if we have even one ACist nation."

Even though Space Union's government says "participation in absolute capitalism would improve the nation's standing abroad", the government would be forced into an awkward economic alliance with repetitive human-rights violators like Doomingsland, and anti-Pacitalian nations like the Second Empire of the Golden Throne. An alliance with Doomingsland could seriously jeopardise Pacitalian and Sarzonian relations with Space Union. Relations between the former Macabean Imperium and Pacitalia were quite strong, until the introduction of AC economic theory. Now, however, Pacitalia is the subject of frequent criticisms from the Empire.

"Foringana is the home of progressive government in Atlantian Oceania," Sorantanali added. "By joining a league of nations with neofascist government systems, Space Unionists would be spitting in the collective Pacitalian face. Mr Mann said himself that he wishes to see strengthened Space Unionist-Pacitalian relations, but he will only create strain on our relationship. I hope he reconsiders the idea."

PSC leader Fernando Chiovitti agreed. "If Space Union wants to see an improved economic picture in a domestic sense, they should look at nations like Commerce Heights, Knootoss, and even our system. Our three nations do not restrict civil liberties in any way other than is necessary for an orderly and productive society, and all three have the strongest possible economies for their output. There is another way - I wish Mr Mann would not be fooled by the eccentric idea of extremist capitalism. It never succeeds."

Both leaders said they hoped Mr Mann took their comments as "positive advice" and not as "external meddling in domestic affairs". Mr Sorantanali says he "is simply looking out for the best interests of both nations", while Mr Chiovitti continued to press that there were other ways of achieving prosperity.

Both men continue their busy campaign schedule: Sorantanali moves onto Acqua Verdi to campaign in Sobrefema and Nortemera, while Chiovitti will campaign in Timiocato and Liridona. Green leader Constantakis will help open a biodiesel service station in Amita on Saturday, and the leaders of the smaller parties are mostly taking a day off - except NPA leader Aria Speranza, who is travelling to Pamagento and Nogales.

Pacitalian Refusal to Diplomatic Reason Inflames Politics

TIMIOCATO, Pacitalia - After the arrival of news that Pacitalian ProDems party leader, Constantino Sorantanali, had decided to refute Federate Harsimran Mann's invitation to bilateral talks for the proliferation of Federal trade, the Imperial administration has scorned their once cordial international neighbors. Interviewed at the River Nestor, where Emperor Fedor I is currently residing, commanding the front against the Weigari rebellion, his Imperial Majesty has made sure to explicitely state that the Empire fully supports the transition of the Federal transition to Absolute Capitalism, and points towards the economic success of the Empire as end all, be all, evidence which underscores the success of the system if used in its pragmatic form. He finished his interview with reporters claiming that "the Pacitalian leadership is plagued with ignorance, and this case is ample evidence of such accusations."

To offer some context to his argument, an interview with Jench Fersas clarified the Pacitalian misconceptions of the economic theory. He hammered Pacitalian economist with:

Frankly, they have no idea about what they're talking about. There is no doubt that Absolute Capitalism is a failure if used in perfect theory, which is why pragmatic capitalism was introduced in the first place. However, the greatest misconception deals with their language, claiming that Absolute Capitalism endorses 'Neo Fascism', when that is a blatant lie, or an obvious show of ignorance by the Pacitalian administration - or at least the Federation of Progressive Democrats, which we originally thought were our greatest allies within Pacitalia. The only thing 'fascist' about the system is the fact that the economy, in the end, works for the state. Moreover, to compare a country like Doomingsland to the Empire, or even to Space Union, is completely misguided, for their can be no comparison.

Further economists of the Empire have made claims that Capitalizm is an absolute capitalism in manifestation, and that only slight differences apply, making the claims by Pacitalia rather redundant. They further tell that the Pacitalian refusal to meet with Space Union is simply political pressure, and Fedor, in the interview, made sure to imply that "the Empire will not stand for belligerence against fellow allies, and will exert as much pressure as necessary to support the friends of the Empire."

In response to PSC leader Fernando Chiovitti's comment, Fedor said, "Success? I merely have to point towards the Empire's economy, Doomingsland's economy and Skibereen's economy. Success? You mock us."

In the end, as most of the administration explains, the actions of the future Pacitalian administration under the leadership of Sorantanali, should he win the elections on the 25th, will only work to sour relations between the Empire and Pacitalia. Fedor has urged Prime Minister Ell to do what he can to save the situation before his apparent heir causes a rift in politics.

As if to reinforce his position behind Space Union, Fedor has pleased to Federate Mann to send a representative of Space Union to Macabea City in order to stamp out ground breaking trade agreements between the two countries and the rest of Imperial Armies that is allied to the Empire. Fedala has also offered the opening of Havenite ports, and Zarbian airports, post-bellum, and has offered it's view of the close future, which Fedor claims will seal the success of Absolute Capitalism 'once and for all'.

Federate Mann Fires Back; Protesters Scream In Fury!

Ayadi, Space Union - Federate Harsimran Mann fired back with his own opinion as news came of Pacitalian government's "disagreement" on the Federate's plan to move Space Union's economy to Absolute Capitalism along with their intention to not come to a conference being held in Space Union in order to further relations with neighbors if Space Union does switch.

Mr. Mann, who held a press conference this morning, has replied to his Pacitalian officials by saying, "I believe the Pacitalian officials have not preceived the entire situation in a realistic light. They continue to taint the name of Absolute Capitalism with the fascist ideology of Germany, when in reality it is by far not so. Along with that, I'm deeply disturbed that the Pacitalian government has gone to the length of changing there mind on coming to our conference over our own domestic issues." The Federate continued by commenting, "Pacitalia is one of Space Union's good friends and thier opinion is valued by us but I will do what I think is right."

This moves from Pacitalia comes in light from a government leak in which Harsimran's new economic goal is to join a league of nation's who use "Absolute Capitalism." Absolute Capitalism is a economic system that was created by Space Union allies in The Macabees and has since then been adopted by some nations abroad including Space Union's enemy, Doomingsland. Political opponents have screamed fowl after the discovery of this by saying, "The Federate has jumped the gun and is taking us down a path we can not follow," as Electorate John Yelstin was quoted as saying. Even the National Conservative Party, which Harsimran is a member of, has citied opposition to this move with Party Chairman saying, "A change to such a system will be detrimental to the Space Union nation along with our ideology and rights."

As opposition brings the big guns out, supporters of the move have continued to argue with the new move. One supporter, Secretary of Economics and Money Grewus Raja, has cited, "Opposition leaders from domestic and foreign identities are continueing to mix the Federate's ideas with fascism. These people are set in mind that whenever the name fascism is said it goes to the Third Reich or Fascist Italy. In reality, they abused the system as no system is inheritly evil but is wielded that way." Other supporters of the Federate cite that the transition to AC would yield unprecedentant economic growth and prosperity similar to what The Macabees are experiencing now with their switch to AC.

As the debate in Ayadi begins to steam up, the nation's citizens have clashed with the Federate on his economic shift. A poll done by the Union Polling Association (UPA) found that only 34% of polled citizens wanted to switch to Absolute Capitalism while a staunch 62% of citizens have called upon an end to this idea. As if the opposition wanted to show thier opposition to the new plan, protest broke out in almost every major city of Space Union, essentially creating one of the biggest protest ever to be held nationwide. And for the first time ever, communist, socialist, capitalist, and other economic ideological groups have banded together as brothers in arm against the Absolute Capitalism. The SU Communist Party leader, Yelstin Putin was quoted as saying, "How dare the Federate make such a move and shift us toward fascism and an ideology similar to Hitler's plan. Even the current system is better than that damn ideology by the name of a AC. I say if the Federate won't move to stop this absurd change, we'll force him or get rid of him." Likewise, thousands of protesters chanted, "Stop Mann not A Hitler!" nationwide on every media set including TV, radio, and the internet.

As news gets worse for the Federate, political party members have also continued to wane their support for thier leader in this situation. Major party officials have critizied this move with open anger "as a failure to the citizens!" Meanwhile, support for the Federate has continued to drop and even close advisors have adviced him to rethink his policy in the name of stability in the nation. But the Federate has yet to respond for comments on how the protests are affecting him.

As the current Administration faulters, political opponents have upped the anny by firing away at the Federate in his first major failure since the protection of Carolina Island from the Doomies a couple of years back during the Doomie-Union War. This along with elections to come in Febuary 20th, 2006 this year, Federate canidates such as Bikhramjit Singh, have commented on the situation, "The Federate has failed the public by presenting such a disgusting policy change. Mr. Mann continues to try to hide his own political motives behind the banner of helping the people when we all know AC is just fascism in another name. And we all know fascism real lead to a corporate state that will dismantle our democracy and steal our citizen's rights abroad."

Bikhramjit Singh, who is the lead canidate for the post of Federate in February's election and the Liberatarian Party's candidate, and other candidates continue to campaign over the country in an effort to slice and dice the Federate and take away his support. Harsimran, who is not running for office, seems have been dealed his first major political blow for a long-time as he gets ready to whether the opposition from abroad and at home. Will he listen to the citizens or himself now and Can he stand or will he faulter, is the question now?

OOC: Yeah, Pacitalia I'm having elections too. And no I'm not copying you, its more of a coincedence. You see Harsimran has already completed his 4 terms when Febuary 20th rolls around (16 years as the leader), so a new election must be held for a new canidate. I've been thinking about it for a while but when you announced that you were having your elections, I thought I would just pick another day, but I got too anxious so yeah I just slipped the day back a month (origionally it was suppose to happen on January 30th, my birthday but that's too close to your's). Also feel free to critize Harsimran's reply to you. This could make an interesting short-type RP

Pacitalian prime minister Timothy Ell urged Emperor
Fedor I of the Second Empire of the Golden Throne,
and FPD party leader and prime ministerial hopeful
Constantino Sorantanali to use "cooler heads" in
their interaction. Ell is "worried" his party did not
learn an important lesson from the last diplomatic
tussle that ballooned into a major blow to the FPD.

Ell asks party leaders to pick "other campaign issues"

By Mario Battistuta, Timiocato

Macabean economists defended Absolute Capitalism on Friday, calling FPD party leader Constantino Sorantanali's comments "ignorant", "mocking of the Empire" and "belligerent". Similarly, Space Union's federate attacked Sorantanali for implying that Pacitalia's northeastern neighbour wanted to become a fascist nation akin to Germany.

Sorantanali, campaigning in Palatinia, asserted that Space Union's desire to switch to AbsoCap would hurt relations with Pacitalia, and called Absolute Capitalism a "neofascist system of governance". However, he clarified that his comments were "advice", and not "external meddling".

Prime Minister Timothy Ell questioned Emperor Fedor's comments. "Mr Sorantanali does not have the ability to exert diplomatic pressure until he actually holds an office. He's telling the truth - it's just advice on his part, not telling the Space Unionists or Federate Mann what to do. Mr Sorantanali is concerned about relations with Space Union above all else."

A recent poll in Space Union suggests large opposition to absolute capitalism. 62% are against a switch to AbsoCap, 34% support the idea and 4% were undecided or didn't know. The margin of error was also small, even though the margin between detractors and supporters was remarkably wide. Most opposed citizens are concerned that an alliance with Doomingsland will "cancel out our hostilities with them and make it seem like the Doomie-Union War never happened. It would be a disgrace and a slight to our history", as one Space Unionist said over the phone during the survey.

Bikramjit Singh, the favourite to win the elections in February and replace Harsimran Mann (who cannot run again under constitutional rules), called absolute capitalism "truly scary" and implied that he sided with Mr Sorantanali. Whether that was to appease Pacitalians or a sensible decision for his own interest could not be deciphered.

Prime Minister Ell added: "I don't know where [La Repubblica Oggia] and the Second Empire got their facts, but in my opinion, relations between the Macabees and the Pacitalians is still quite strong. There's no need for the tension, and no precedent for it. I'd hope that people on both sides of the dispute will use cooler heads, and that party leaders in this campaign will pick other issues to discuss. This isn't a campaign issue."

A Treatise on Economics in Federative Sikh Republic of Space Union
Artur Viernas[/b]

(...selected paragraphs)

Absolute Capitalism cannot be 'changed into', if you will. It is, as the theory implies, purely transitional. It is the union of a thesis with an anti-thesis; it is the dialectic. In the end, it becomes the next synthesis. In essense, the transition to absolute capitalism is merely a progression in the state of economics. To claim otherwise is ignorance, and ignorance, in this particular case, is not bliss. Unfortunately, this final synthesis - pure capitalis - has been termed impossible to reach, and with international aesthetics it is, which is why the moderated synthesis has become to be known as 'pragmatic Absolute Capitalism'. It is extremely important to understand the dialectic, so hailed by men like Georg Hagel and Karl Marx, in order to understand the process of events.

With this in mind, it can only be suspected that the transition into Absolute Capitalism being done by Space Union is natural; to assume otherwise would be incorrect. The non-scientific voting taking place in Space Union to measure the support for the transition should be held as irrelevent. Throughout history 'the people' have made the wrong choice, and this is no exception; they are preaching against a natural occurance, and that is what should, in the end, be taken into consideration. This is why the American state produced an electoral college, albeit outdated at the fall of the United States - the people, simply said, cannot be trusted. Communism is a perfect example of a failed dialectic, only because it was the people's choice.

It is the task of the administration of Space Union to watch over the transition and avoid the miscommunications Pacitalian officials are offering. It will take a coach to train a team. This was the mentality of Karl Marx; unfortunately, it went awry, since in essence Communism places the economy, or power, in the hands of the administration. However, Absolute Capitalism does not - it sees, at the very first, that the economy, or the power, is in the hands of the people; supply and demand. This is the beauty of Absolute Capitalism, and the fact that it can be altered to fit a nation is what guarantees its success.

(The manuscript goes on, describing Pacitalian and Space Union politics and describing certain characters in each's administration.)

Absolute Capitalism, and the transition to, can be stopped. Human intelligence, or better said human stupidity, has been able to put a stop to many natural occurances, and it even seems that they have put a stop to the impossible - entropy. However, human intelligence can also work for the greater good, and it is this greater good that must prevail in Space Union if the natural transition is to finalize - if that natural transition finalizes then economic superiority is ensured.

Sarzo: Time to raise the stakes

by Steve LeFors
Daily Mail Staff Writer

WOODSTOCK -- President Mike Sarzo announced in a press conference at the Gray House yesterday that it was "time to raise the stakes" in the Pacitalia-Space Union row and said he would request the Woodstock Pact conduct a "thorough review" of Space Union's political system if the nation adopts the Absolute Capitalism system currently under discussion in Space Union.

"The concerns that Mr. Sorantanali have expressed regarding Absolute Capitalism weigh heavily on my mind as they relate to relations within Atlantian Oceania and the Woodstock Pact," Sarzo said. "It's time to raise the stakes for Mr. Mann and the government of Space Union. Should your government adopt this new economic system, we will ask for a formal review within the Woodstock Pact."

Sarzo made a point to say that the review would be the only "definite step" taken, and that any decisions would be "thoroughly discussed among all the members of the Woodstock Pact before we make any decisions."

"This will not be a case of Sarzonia unilaterally deciding anything," Sarzo said. "In fact, all Sarzonia is doing is exercising its right as a member nation of the Woodstock Pact to raise important questions about the state of human rights in a nation it is aligned closely with."

Conservative Senator Brian Delgado, considered unofficially the opposition leader to Sarzo in Parliament lashed out at Sarzo's statements, saying they "amount to an injudicious power grab that show he hasn't learned a thing from the Silver Sky debacle."

"This has absolutely nothing to do with The Silver Sky situation," said Deputy Senior Vice President and External Affairs Officer Grant Haffner. "This is a case where we are simply asking for careful consideration of the pitfalls of a new political system that will affect a regional neighbour and a fellow member of several alliances. I fully support Sorantanali's move as an appopriate, measured response to a perceived threat to Pacitalian security, regional stability, and Pact viability."

Haffner also had harsh words for the Golden Throne and their "injudicious" comments blasting Sorantanali.

"I find it appalling that Fedor has failed to see the parallels Absolute Capitalism has with fascism or national socialism. But therein lies the problem inherent with absolute rule," he said. "There's an old saying that absolute power corrupts absolutely. We're seeing that in strong evidence with The Golden Throne."

Sarzonia has had very limited relations with The Golden Throne, with the only prior interaction between the nations being Sarzonia's 6-5 loss to the Golden Throne in a pre-tournament friendly during the futsal World Cup.

Federate Is Slammed; Protests Become Violent!

Ayadi, Space Union - After a release by Federate Harsimran Mann rebutting claims from Pacitalia earlier today, the Federate is under fire from his own Prime Minister Satpal Singh.

Earlier today, Pacitalia staged a protest of Mr. Mann's action to change Space Union to an Absolute Capitalist nation by declaring that if he continued with his policies, they would not come to the Space Union-held continent conference that is expected to be hosted soon. In response, the Federate earlier fired back at the Pacitalian's for not "preceiving the entire situation in a realistic light."

But as Harsimran came under fire from foreign powers, including Space Union's staunch ally, Sarzonia, news came that Harsimran's closest political advisor, the Prime Minister, Satpal Singh, has voiced opposition to the new change. In his own words, "I honestly believe that the Federate, who has been my friend for a long time, is taking the nation down a path that will only seclude us from the rest of the world and potentionally get us kicked out of the Woodstock Pact and severe ties with our allies. Our allies in Sarzonia and Pacitalia have already voiced concerns and have threatened diplomatic actions against us. The populace is against this, it is the people that rule not you."

Harsimran responded with a face that reflected his betrayal, "Satpul does not understand the concept and he's been tainted by the liberals that are taking a foot into the area. I will not be affected by your comments our your betrayal to me." Satpul wasn't available for comments afterward, though there are rumors of him resigning from the office.

As the Federate tries to gain support in Ayadi, protestors nationwide continue their protests. In a significant event, though, the protestors have suddenly turned violent. In Ayadi, protestors using home-made bombs through them at police and paramilitary forces while clubbing unarmed civilians that were supporting the Federate done. It is estimated that 50 people died in this tragedy alone with violence flaring up all over the country. The death toll is climbing as we speak with police and the military opening fire on protestors if they revolt and desperatly try to maintain order.

We will keep you updated as the situation across Space Union continues to spiral out of control into a crisis that has long been suppressed by the Mann Administration.

Space Union violence 'distressing'

by Jennifer Conners
Press Herald Staff Writer

WOODSTOCK (6 January) -- A spokeswoman for the Gray House said the violence in Ayadi, Space Union was "distressing" and pleaded for calm as the nation faces tumult over the prospect of the government adopting an Absolute Capitalist system.

"We find it extraordinarily distressing that the political process in Space Union can not operate without the sort of rancor we have seen throughout this process," said Andrea Barclay, deputy press secretary. "We urge the people of Space Union to respect the democratic process and lay down their arms so that true dialogue can begin."

Federate Harsimran Mann and Prime Minister Satpal Singh exchanged barbs after Singh criticised Mann for the direction he was taking Space Union.

"The populace is against this," Singh said. "It is the people that rule, not you."

Mann blasted Singh for "betrayal," saying that he's been "tainted by the liberals that are taking a foot into the area."

That comment drew a strong rebuke directly from President Mike Sarzo, who until now had been trying to stay above the fray.

"I'm sick and tired of people in democratic countries that lean slightly to the right who suggest that liberal is a dirty word," Sarzo said in unusually blunt language. "I may not affiliate with any political party here in Sarzonia, but that's the sort of language that led to Sarzonia's founding."

Sarzo suggested that the controversy between Mann and Singh could be resolved with "some serious diplomacy," but didn't suggest that he be the one to hold a conference between the onetime close friends.

"The way things are going, I'm going to suggest someone who's a little more direct do the honours," he said. Sarzo declined to name the person or people he had in mind, but a source close to the administration suggested Sarzo was thinking of Lieutenant President Nicole Lewis.

"She's the only one who'd make sense," the source said. "She cuts right to the chase. She doesn't play games. She'll give them both some undiplomatic candor."

Deputy Senior Vice President and External Affairs Officer Grant Haffner suggested he might be willing to conduct such a meeting, saying "if Sarzo needs someone who can keep both of them in line, I can do it."

Ell urges calm as political instability grows in Space Union

by Mario Battistuta in Timiocato, and Fatima Burgena in Ayadi

Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Ell is urging continued calm in Space Union Friday evening, as tensions within the populace in regards to the Absolute Capitalism debacle in Pacitalia's northeastern neighbour continue to increase to a boiling point. Political scientists in Pacitalia are warning that if the tensions do reach said point, Space Unionist-Pacitalian relations may not recover fully.

The political instability in Space Union is sudden, but it seems to be all from catalystic comments FPD party leader Constantino Sorantanali made earlier in the day, saying he would not participate in a pan-Foringanan conference if Space Union went to an Absolute Capitalist system. The people of Space Union do not want AbsoCap either, but Federate Harsimran Mann looks primed to go over his people's heads and begin the conversion anyway.

If he lasts that long.

Elections are due next month regardless of whether or not Mann survives the onslaught of growing opposition to his leadership. Calls for his resignation increased Friday as effigies burned, protest signs and Space Unionist flags were waved, and demands for calm began pouring in from foreign governments. Violence flared in cities like the capital, Ayadi, where protesters set off hastily-constructed homemade bombs near police blockades, killing 50 and injuring many.

And, in a further blow to Mr Mann's credibility and leadership, his prime minister, Satpal Singh, is reportedly resigning after publicly disavowing the Federate's desires to convert Space Union to AbsoCap. Mr Singh said he was "concerned [Mr Mann's] actions would isolate Space Union", in that they would be "ejected from the Woodstock Pact and cut off from [their] allies".

Prime Minister Ell called on Mr Mann to act now. "It is completely in your guard to resolve this situation peacefully. It is imperative that you solve the problems arising from this instability, without repression of your own kind. That would only make things worse."

Troskin declares Absolute Capitalism as pre-fascism and that any state using the economic ideology is counter-productive.

Troskin Condemns All Absolute Capitalist States as Neo-Fascist Regimes

In a speech in Mobile, Alabaman SSR, Troskin began violently bashing Absolute Capitalist and Capitalizt states as “unprogressive, totalitarian dictatorships” and “useless parasites on society.” This is not the first time Premier Troskin has vehemently shown his abhorrent for Absolute Capitalist states. In a speech last month in Pyongyang he stated:

”Nations who support the use of Absolute Capitalism (and capitalist ideologies in general) do not deserve the very little they receive. I am sorry to say that due to the total corruption of nations that slide into the horrible economic theory of Absolute Capitalism have set back social progress hundreds of years. They are no better than Hitler’s Germany, Mussolini’s Italy, or Franco’s Spain. They deserve every hardship they suffer.”

The speech caused an international uproar for what seemed to be stating that the Soviet Union would refuse to help any nation that supported Absolute Capitalism for any purpose - even humanitarian missions. It seems as if the Iron Curtain has hardened into a “Tungsten Wall.”

Following his speech in Mobile, Troskin traveled back to the Kremlin for meetings with political analysts who stated that the international impact and controversy over his speeches was “moderate but not catastrophic.” While the controversial and sometimes violent talks cause capitalist nations to condemn the Soviet Union, popular support for Troskin has recieved yet another boost in the past week.

While relations between the Soviet Union and Space Union are utterly non-existent, relations between Pacitalia and the Golden Throne are moderately well - even if the Soviet Union openly opposes ninety percent of both foreign and domestic policies of the two countries.

It is unknown whether the Revolutionary Armed Forces Abroad have residencies within any of the three nations (rumors flow that the RAFA have residencies set up in Northern Pacitalia), but the Kremlin did state that if nations with weak relations to the U.S.S.R. continue to follow ultra-reactionary policies, ties may be severed.

Federate Declares Martial Law and Emergency Power To Himself!

Ayadi, Space Union - As violence flares across the country and innocent people are murdered, the Federate has been pressured to do something. In response, Harsimran declared martial law in every province/state in Space Union along with allocating himself permenant emergency powers.

After the death of 50 people in Ayadi, the Federate declared the country in a state of martial law in order to curb the growing violence. Along with that, he has accessed his permenant emergency powers because in his own words, "for a safer and more secure nation!"

Politicans cried fowl across the nation as he implented his measures. Instead, they have cried for the Federate to find a peaceful method. But Harsimran has rejected their call instead has mobilized the 3rd Armored Division and the 14th Armored Division and sent subordinate units across the nation to suppress any protestors that try to revolt against the state.

Harsimran released this on the current events, "These protestors have gone too far and have killed innocent police and men that have families that are know parentless. I will use the full power of the military to crush any protestor, no matter what he/she does. Every protestor is now an enemy of the state!"

As news came, protestors desperatly tried to break away, but military units opened fire and began slaughtering protestors in the name of "democracy." In response, some protestors took up arm and began fighting the military. Rebels (as the Federate has labelled them) have taken up positions on roof tops and buildings and began snipping at military units. Meanwhile, some military units under the command of their generals have staged a coup and joined the rebellion.

All over the nation, the rebellion has vowed to restore democracy and the constitution and the basic foundation of the country once more while the Federate has replied, "These scum say they want democracy but they are killing it! Any descenters will be imprisoned and killed if nessessary."

As violence escalates, we have the first official record on the death toll. Nationwide, 324 people have been killed while 120 military soldiers have been killed too. We can expect this number to skyrocket as long as the situation keeps on escalating. It seems like Space Union is once more spirling into civil war between two sides that think they are the better for the Union. Only God knows what will happen next.

Sarzo condemns martial law call

by Steve LeFors
Daily Mail Staff Writer

WOODSTOCK (6 January) -- In the wake of Space Union Federate Harsimran Mann calling for martial law after the outbreak of violence in Space Union, President Mike Sarzo blasted the decision, calling it "abhorrent" and "extremely undemocratic."

"Federate Mann's decision to invoke martial law in the wake of violent protest is a slap in the face of democratic principles," Sarzo said in a speech from his office in the Gray House. "The Incorporated Sarzonian Government condemns this act in the strongest terms and we will explore all options available to us."

Sarzo has prepared a letter addressed to the member nations of the Woodstock Pact, calling for an emergency session to discuss Space Union's handling of the debate regarding Absolute Capitalism. He said the Incorporated Sarzonian Government would consider suspending diplomatic relations with Space Union and enacting economic sanctions, including revoking Space Union's five percent discount at the Portland Iron Works.

"Nearly every option is on the table," Deputy Senior Vice President and External Affairs Officer Grant Haffner said. "We must consider all possible avenues to avert a greater crisis, whether they be diplomatic, economic, or military."

The Sarzo administration has so far refused to say whether they would mobilise their military in response to the declaration of martial law; however, Sarzo didn't explicitly dismiss the possibility when asked.

"When crises happen, we would be remiss if we simply ignored all possible remedies," he said. "But we would have to be convinced that Mann was being truly destructive for us to contemplate using military action against a legitimately elected government of an allied nation."

Lieutenant President Nicole Lewis said the prospect of military intervention was "highly unlikely," but said, "Mann can not continue to insult the principles of freedom and democracy that his government previously has said it holds dear.

"If Harsimran Mann wants his country to remain in the Woodstock Pact and more importantly, continue to call Sarzonia an ally, the ball's in his court."

Federate Displeased With Sarzonia's Lack of Knowledge

Ayadi, Space Union - Only a couple of hours after the Federate put the nation under a state of martial law, the Federate defends his actions from attacks from Sarzonia.

In a state release, the Federate remarked about Sarzo's comments, "I feel that Sarzo is incompetent when it comes to such crisis. If you can see, people are innocently dieing across the nation from rebel threats. The only way to deal with such a threat is to take up the offensive and destroy such a threat." He also attacked Sarzo's comment on him being undemocratic, "Like I said before you don't understand the current situation. The extreme violence provokes the need for martial law to calm the nation down. Once that is done, martial law will be lifted."

This comes in light as Space Union troops take up the offensive against rebels across the country and try to maintain order. With a curfew of 11:00 PM, the nation is under intense fire from WP allies for its actions in recent day because of the Federate's plan to switch over to Absolute Capitalism.

Meanwhile, Satpul Singh has officially resigned from the post of Prime Minister, leaving the nation without a Prime Minister. Harsimran has commented on this by saying, "I believe it was the right decision. It would be impossible to run a country with conflicting interest within an administration." Harsimran is expected to fill the vacant spot within the week.

In a disturbing news across the country, rebels have taken control of some of the military's military bases and taken up some arms along with heavy equipment. It seems like the nation is getting ready to embrace for a fight that's on the horizon.

Grave Concerns Shown Over Crisis in Space Union

OSARIA (RS) - As the impending crisis continued to flare with its own great share of violence and unrest in cities all across the nation of Space Union, the Omzian Foreign Affairs Ministry and the President have finally broken their silence in regards to the matter. During a press conference early Saturday, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry released the Omzian government's official view on the matter, referring to the recent proposals of Absolute Capitalism to be "distressing" and the recent enactment of emergency martial law to be "a very worrying state of affair rapidly growing in magnitude... [in the views of the Omzian government] may plunge the esteemed nation of Space Union into a civil war, which will most definitely affect current Omzian-Space Union bilateral relations as well as economic ties."

"While we do acknowledge the nation of Space Union as one of our most esteemed allies after decades of cooperation, the irresponsibility shown by the leader of Space Union is extremely distressing, and [it in our view] will only further worsen the situation as Mann continues to adamantly insist on the employment of martial law as an answer to the current domestic political disputes in Space Union," the spokesman was quoted as saying. "It is in many ways, defying the basic tenets of democracy, while extinguishing any and all hopes for a peaceful resolve... Therefore, the Omzian government has no choice but to officially condemn the enactment of martial law by the leader of Space Union, as well as the reaction to the protests being undertaken by Space Union army units."

When asked about any possible actions that the Omzian Republic will take in the future in reaction to the matter, the spokesman refused to answer. However, he did hint at the possibility of "slapping arms and war materiel sanctions" against the Space Union government "indefinitely", if "the government of Space Union does not immediately back down and reconsider its erroneous and undemocratic approach to the crisis at hand." In regards to the possibility of military action, the spokesman did not offer a definitive answer, but stated that "the Omzian Forces do not intend to intervene in the domestic affairs of other nations... the use of the military as an apparatus to voice our disapproval of the events, in our views, will only be counterproductive to the whole situation."

In the meanwhile, the Omzian Foreign Ministry's Travel Office has issued an official warning against traveling to Space Union. "Because of the recent outbreaks of violence and general unrest, the Omzian government strongly advises all Omzian citizens to refrain from travelling to the nation of Space Union, for any reason except emergency matters, for an indefinite period of time until further notice," the released warning said. "For Omzian citizens in Space Union, the Omzian Diplomatic Representative Office will provide assistance, should they decide to leave the country. All Omzian visitors and non-essential diplomatic personnel in Space Union are advised to leave immediately."

Official statement regarding comments by Harsimran Mann

The Incorporated Sarzonian Government is outraged over the impolitic comments made by Harsimran Mann in light of his nation's political crisis. To insinuate that the President of a country who has held office longer than he has is ignorant demonstrates an appalling lack of diplomacy and suggests that Mann is attempting to seize dictatorial authority for himself.

I have asked Admiral Barbara Tucker, the CEO of the Portland Iron Works to suspend Space Union's five percent discount for any purchases they may choose to make. In addition, I am announcing that Space Union is hereby placed on diplomatic probation. What this means is that their diplomatic and consular staffs are being asked to relay our extreme displeasure with their methods throughout this crisis, and our diplomatic and consular staffs within Space Union are being served with notice to prepare to depart upon request.

Finally, I will ask the Woodstock Pact to discuss the ramifications of Space Union's actions and determine an appropriate course of action by the alliance as a whole. Should Mann continue to pull a Xavier Martin, the consequences his nation will suffer will be grave. That much I can assure him.

Frankly Harsimran, the ball's in your court. You can either continue down this destructive path you have chosen and turn your nation into an international pariah, or you can choose a different path, one that is determined more by the people who have given you their trust to run the nation in accordance to their needs. Don't continue to fail your people when they need you the most.

Citizens Back Up Woodstock Pact!

Ayadi, Space Union - As martial law continues, protestors who the police are not detaining yet, for reasons unknown, are staging a protest outside the Chita House, surrounding it completely.

The protestors began gathering after the Federate declared that the nation was under the martial law a couple of hours ago after a series of attacks where protests changed into violent revolts. In a historic display of the citizen's power, protestors chanted in a loud voice, "Down with Mann! Up with Woodstock and Democracy!".

Police, for odd reasons, didn't move in to arrest the protestors in their protest. They kept to the sideline while some even joined the chanting for the Federate to be expelled from office. The Federate was unavailable for contact as the Chita House was completely cut-off and surrounded by protestor.

One protestor was quoted in saying, "The Federate has failed us, the nation, our allies, and most of all democracy." This feeling is universal among the crowd who have been rallied by opposition from Sarzonia, Pacitalia, and Omz against the Federate. With the tides turning against the Federate, his job has come down to a vote now.

Earlier today, Chamber of Electorates have setup a vote to whether to impeach the Federate, bypassing all the lengthy measures and doing a direct vote of emergency. If it succeeds, the Federate will be thrown out of office and if nessessary and he resists, he will be arrested.

The clock is ticking as a bomb is about to be defused or explode. Only time will tell.

Harsimran Mann "fearing for his life and his job": Political scientists

Political scientists are heavily critical of Space Union federate Harsimran Mann at this hour as the situation in Space Union enters crisis mode. Mr Mann defied the advice of Pacitalian and Sarzonian political figures and enacted martial law, pulling an authoritarian move that is sure to increase the jeopardy hanging over his position, over the next few hours.

Mr Mann enacted the legislation, without the support of the legislative branch, shortly after the deaths of 50 citizens from numerous homemade bombs. Sarzonian president Mike Sarzo immediately condemned the attack and the Foreign Office in Sarzonia has reportedly put Space Union on diplomatic probation. There have been no reports from MIRFA on whether or not Pacitalia will follow suit, but MIRFA has released a statement asking Pacitalians to return home as soon as possible. For now, however, Pacitalia has sealed its border with Space Union, mobilising four army divisions to protect areas between border crossings while Pacitalian Customs & Immigration Agency border officers patrol the main highway crossings. Pacitalian citizens are the only nationals allowed in through the Space Union border. As well, two air force teams are patrolling the skies over the border, and naval units are keeping watch Pacitalian territorial waters.

Agustinate of Defence Eleftherios Venizelos Jr. said it was a "necessary move in times of crisis, protecting the security of Pacitalia from the upheaval in our neighbouring nation". There was no comment on the move from Prime Minister Timothy Ell, but the security move required his assent.

Political scientists are concerned that Space Union is spiralling out of control without necessity. "I think Harsimran Mann is fearing for not only his job, but his life," political scientist Dr. Armano Mazzurro-Cavano of the National University of Nortopalazzo said. "This was clearly a defensive move. He is desperate to hold onto power with more and more people that are, in his eyes, betraying him and turning against him."

An unofficial poll on PNN.pc says a scratch 11% of Pacitalians support Mr Mann's actions, while an overwhelming 79% do not. 59% of Pacitalians would prefer to see Mr Mann resign and see now former prime minister Satpal Singh take over until the election. The poll results were not scientific and reflect the actual opinions of users based on how they understood the question, meaning there may be a rather wide margin of error.

Longbottom Finally Comments on Space Union

OHM (VFP) - The Premier today finally released a statement regarding the continual deteriorization of longtime Woodstock Pact ally Space Union. Speaking from the Great Hall's press room, the aging Premier drew few surprised looks when he took his usual hard line stance against what he termed "an unhonorable and horrible act."

"The government of the Voltarum is deeply disturbed and dissapointed in the acts of the Federate, and joins our Woodstock Pact allies in condeming Harsimran Mann's actions. We cannot help but feel that should Mann continue his ill-advised tactics to gain power, Space Union is destined to fall from grace in the Pact and in the international arena. The High Order urges the Space Union people to help themselves by dissoving this situation with as little bloodshed as possible. We hope that the Chamber of Electorates takes the forthcoming vote seriously and makes the right decision for all of Space Union."

Following his brief statement, Longbottom surprised many reporters with his unusually terse and curt answers to their questions. One reporter, when asking the Premier whether this would be yet another Silver Sky fiasco, recieved a dark glare and a "next question." Many pundits believe that Longbottom, still unnerved by the actions of The Silver Sky, and his harsh reaction to her allying with Doomingsland, wants to aproach this situation with as much delicacy as possible. When asked whether military action should take place, the Premier commented that it would be up to the Space Union people to rectify this situation, and military action would not even be thought about until the whole of the Woodstock Pact discussed the situation. For now, Longbottom commented, it is sufficient to suspend all economic ties to the country, and advise all Voltaru to remain out of her borders.

Reactions to the Premier's statement were widespread, with his few political opponents lashing out yet again at his international policy. Kerat Oerstad, Head Council of Iota province, made his usual anti-Longbottom comments almost immediately: "Once again, we kneel before Sarzo and this international alliance we have mistakingly entered into. Mann, as we speak, is committing unspeakable crimes that we should stop, no matter what it takes."

Oerstad, as usual, is in the minority when it comes to the Premier's decisions. In a recent poll issued by the Tesla Institute, Longbottom's approval ratings remain over 70%, and nearly 85% of the Voltaru polled believe his actions seemed appropriate in this matter. However, nearly 40% agreed that some kind of military action would be needed in the future to rectify the situation.

OOC: I might take two paths: 1) Harsimran impeached and Satpul Singh is put temp Federate (darn you Pacitalia for reading minds!) 2) Harsimran doesnt accept impeachment and declares himself dictator for life. I'll have 6 provinces cede from the Union and establish the Southern Union, which will be run by Federate Satpal Singh which will return to normalcy. In retaliation, Harsmran will launch an invasion of Southern Union while Satpul will ask for WP's help in stopping him. That's where Pacitalia can get his SF stuff on (he can use Southern Union as a base of operations.

Which one do you guys think I should take? Should we make it into a nice military RP or a nice little happy ending one? :)

Déjà Vu?
Crisis in Space Union Eerily Reminescent of Recent Events in Skinny87

AYADI, SPACE UNION - Martial law. Woodstock Pact troubles. Internal politics. Even Pacitalian importance. All factors in two international crises, those in Skinny87, one which still has been resolved, and the, more recent, events in Space Union. They started because of different things, and are still two separate tales, but Sarzonian belligerence and internal strife seem to be taking this along an all-too-farmilier path.

This very simple - and yet so complicated - crisis began with a, of all things, economic system. This is Absolute Capitalism. Most Yaforites would know very much about it, as it has, of course, been put under the brunt of some very heavy propoganda campaigns, as well as government insults.

The situation rapidly escalated from there. Canstantino Sorantanali, head of the FPD, as well as close friend to the Yaforite ambassador, spoke out against the political system. From there there was chaos. The inventor of the political system, The Golden Throne entered the verbal battle, as did president of Sarzonia, Mike Sarzo.

Protests began to occur here in Space Union. They grew increasingly violent, until Martial Law was declared. This had previously been an internal issue, but now the inside part of the Woodstock Pact, an organization Yafor 2 is part of, joined in. Thence began a political ballet of extreme meticulousness, as every single nation entered the fray. Things got worse.

At the beginning, outspoken Yaforite bloggers and newspapers began reporting about the "fall of free speech in Space Union" and the "degeneration of international politics", but now their rallying call seems almost prophetic. Blogger Keilin Frida says thet she "is disappointed in international apathy and in the Space Union leadership. The Woodstock Pact must do something" she says and that she is "proud of the people of Space Union, who are willing to fight for their rights".

Elected Duke Rudiv Sodo has stated that "Yafor 2 is in the process of working to sever ties, if this continues forward". However, he has also stated that he hopes "that leadership will change in the upcoming Space Union election". His opponents in Yafor 2, in the Upcoming Yaforite election mirror his statements.

It can only be hoped that people come to their senses before the bomb of civil actually explodes.

Kil "disturbed" by Space Union rioting, condemns Mann

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- President Kil joined Pacitalian Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Ell and Sarzonian President Mike Sarzo in calling for "cooler heads to prevail" in the diplomatic crisis between Space Union and several other prominent countries, including Woodstock Pact allies Pacitalia and Sarzonia, the Omzian Democratic Republic, and the Second Empire of the Golden Throne.

"I am highly disturbed by the recent events in Space Union," Kil said yesterday at a press conference. "Federate Mann's misguided policy to go against the will of the people is contrary to the basic principles of democracy. His call for 'martial law' is nothing more than the act of a power-hungry dictator showing his true colors."

The ramifications of the crisis in Space Union are making themselves felt even in Washington. After reports that the Sarzonian government had requested that Portland Iron Works revoke Space Union's traditional discount and that Mann's regime was being placed on "diplomatic probation," there were calls within Halberdgardia for similar diplomatic actions to be taken.

"It is impossible for this nation to regard itself as a paragon of democracy and simultaneously tolerate the disgusting abuses of power occurring in Space Union under the regime of Harsimran Mann," former Presidential candidate Senator Gordon Sutorius said yesterday on the floor of the Senate. "Mann must be shown that we will not stand idly by as he desecrates his office with his crimes against the people of Space Union."

Following the Sarzonian announcement that Space Unionist membership in the prestigious Woodstock Pact alliance would be reviewed, political analysts speculated that Kil would call for similar action to be taken with Space Unionist membership in the Saharistan War Coalition. The administration's previous lack of comment on the matter has only fueled the fire, and the topic has been all over the media, including many Halberdgardian blogs.

"Kanos was not afraid to eject Willink from the Saharistan War Coalition after they committed an offense in gross violation of the principles of the alliance," wrote one blogger, Jeremy Springs, referring to Willink naval vessels' attack on Leafanistani and McKagan peacekeeping vessels off the coast of the former country of Arabanistan, "so why should Kil be any more hesitant to eject Space Union from the SWC when Mann is clearly taking his country down a path of destruction?"

Kil finally addressed the possibility of Halberdgardian action against Space Union in a press release. Echoing comments made by Sarzonian Deputy Senior Vice President and External Affairs Officer Grant Haffner, Kil said that "all options are on the table," including "ejection of Space Union from the Saharistan War Coalition," "economic sanctions against the Mann regime," and even "the use of military force to protect the rights of the people of Space Union, in the case of a conflict."

"The Kil administration and the people of Halberdgardia stand in solidarity with the people of Space Union in opposition to the oppression of the Mann regime," the press release stated.

A Halpol survey taken shortly after the press release showed a resounding 84% of Halberdgardians approved of Kil's actions, while 13% opposed, and 3% didn't know or were undecided.

Fedala Internachnal
The Empire Lashes!

In light of political unrest in Space Union and the recent decleration of martial law, Fedor has provided his full backing for the Federate, exclaiming that what Mann is doing "is for democracy." In response to Sarzonia's hail of the action as 'undemocratic', Fedor has responded, "And do you find the American Civil War to be a product of false democracy? And if so, is democracy just a farce? The hypocracy ripens in Sarzonia, it seems." Indeed, many have criticized Sarzonia for preaching ideals that have already been proven opposite of Sarzonian actions prevvy to this ordeal. Many point to Sarzonia's closing of Portland Iron Works, calling it a sign of "Communist insurgence in Sarzonia". Others have gone as far as to call Sarzo a "liar".

In response Haffner's concerns Fedor balked, "I created Absolute Capitalism. The ignorance is disgusting. Absolute Capitalism has nothing to do with 'absolute rule' and therin, as Haffner said, lies the problem. Absolute Capitalism is merely an attempt to form near pure capitalism, but instead of serving big business, it serves the state - it is a way to redistribute wealth in an enviroment which would regularly not allow it. Haffner speaks as if we are oblivious to the workings of our own system. We suggest to Haffner to pick up a book."

Jench Fersas, the Foreign Advisor to Fedor, however, painted a different picture, "Frankly, if Federate Mann takes a further step and begins to delve into actions which are blatantly undemocratic, regardless of our own administrative system, he risks loosing the support of the Golden Throne. Nonetheless, martial law is in no way undemocratic. In fact, quite ironically, it has been democratic nations that have employed it most throughout history. Look at the now destroyed United States, and the Roman Republic of old, even before Rome fell into political distress. The Pacitalians and Sarzonians have attempted to cover up political pressure through lies, but we see past their ugly facade. Just as well, however, we give a warning to Mann, and urge him to keep his cool."

The trend of politics in the Woodstock Pact seem contrary to what they support. In fact, the Sarzonians got it wrong. Beyond their futsal match, the Sarzonian Portland Iron Works is also a major competitor to Kriegzimmer, while the Empire keeps a continuous eye on Sarzonian fleets operating around the colonies, in fear of a Sarzonian invasion of Doomingsland. In fact, the Sarzonians have been the ones flashing the most belligerence in the colonies. As if to end the matter, Fedor stated, "The Space Union debacle must not end in war; the death of children and teenagers is not 'democratic', and so we see no reason why 'democratic' nations should fall into its pits. This ordeal will end either with Mann continuing as Federate, or with him stepping down."

To underscore his position Fedor has asked Mann, Ell, and Singh to the tables in Mandalay, hoping to seek an end to this violence. Fersas put it so eloquently, "If you are truly democratic then I do not believe you would want war. How can 'the people' want to see their children die?"
Generic empire

The Sofia State Times

Strange Bedfellows?

With the relatively recent rise of what is being termed throughout Generia as the “AC Revolution”, yet another nation seems to be falling under the spell of the system embraced by such giants as The Empire of the Golden Throne and Generia’s own long respected CAD ally, Emperor Helldawg’s Doomingsland. Space Union, a longstanding member of the corrupt and horribly ineffective bureaucracy that is the Woodstock Pact (a socialist think-tank consisting of such festering intellectual sores as Sarzonia and Praetonia), now seems to be taking a very different path under the direction of the strong willed Harsimran Mann.

The people of Space Union, long held captive by a “free” press seeking to brainwash them with a torrent of democratic and communistic ideas, have not been keen to follow their clear headed Federate, and many have recently turned to violence prompting a declaration of martial law and seizure of emergency powers by Mann, a justifiable act considering the murders of many innocent civil security personnel by anarchist demonstrators (an event that serves to make citizens of the Empire thankful for a strong order that holds such demonstrations as unconstitutional).

Predictably, the various Woodstock Pact governments have found this move to be highly unnerving, often being terrified to put their own civil security forces into action, and there is talk of expulsion of Space Union from the Pact. This possibility has prompted some discussion throughout the Empire as to whether or not Generia should seek relations with a nation struggling to embrace clear economic and political philosophy and trying to free itself from the bonds of the tyranny by majority that infects the other Pact states, notably Sarzo’s Sarzonia. However, as of yet there has been no official statement, leaving speculation on the matter as the primary source of entertainment for the budding coffee shop political philosophers in downtown Sofia.

Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Ell says his
government will "wait and see" how the

Ell to Fedor: "We'll wait and see"

by Manti Soratina-Murana, Timiocato

Pacitalia's prime minister is saying his government will wait to see how the situation continues to develop in Space Union before sending diplomats to Mandalay for a conference on the issue.

Dr. Timothy Ell and his Agustinate of International Relations, Dr. Rabastano Sancatto Serra, say "the situation does not warrant a conference yet. The political instability in Space Union is notable but not a major issue yet. It will if the vote fails or if any more people die. We hope that neither happens. If Mr Mann's leadership is revoked and he ignores it, that is a serious problem and we will pursue the necessary avenues to rectify the mistake."

Space Unionists united behind Satpal Singh, who resigned yesterday as prime minister, are reportedly backing him up to have six provinces in southern Space Union secede from the confederation, leaving Mann with the remaining northern and eastern provinces. If that happens, the ESOF may see its first major action since being created on May 2005.

For now, though, Ell, the OPM, MIRFA and the Pacitalian Central Intelligence Commission are working tirelessly with the Pacitalian Satellite Monitoring Agency (PSAT) to check out the comings and goings in Space Union and figure out their next course of action -- whether it be diplomatic or military. This is all speculation, however (Ell might not even be thinking military response at this point), but the Pacitalian government will most likely not be comfortable with the situation to the northeast for a very long time.

OOC:Well, if the WP decides to go in, I'll most likely try to insert some SFs to give them a headache, kill people and break things, assasinate officers, blow up important equipment, that sort of thing. I'll have an IC post up sometime soon, I hope...

OOC:As Pac' said, most of the Woodstock Pact are just stating random diplomacy relating to the subject - me included. There's no way I can fight (the Generian war, obviously) but I'll most probably send in a few SRACH. Personally, I don't actually see the Woodstock Pact loosing anything, as most of the members are not/barely in it at all.

Chamber Slams Fist Of Democracy Down!; Satpul Becomes Federate!

Ayadi, Space Union - One day after a crisis began for Space Union, which many experts consider the start of a new civil war, ended dramatically when the Chamber of Electorates effectively impeached Federate Harsimran Mann from office with a 24-0 vote for impeachment of the Federate.

Earlier today, the Chamber of Electorates held a special session in the Chamber Center where electorates from each province gathered to decide on what to do with the crisis between the people of Space Union and the Federate, Harsimran Mann. In a smashing display of the people's power, protestors gathered outside of the Chita House and protested all night and in the morning chanting, "Down with Mann! Up with Woodstock [Pact] and Democracy!". It seemed that the electorates heard their chants and in a swift blow to the Federate, the Chamber voted 24-0 to silence the Federate and impeach him once and for all.

This crisis had erupted earlier when information was leaked that the Federate would switch the nation to Absolute Capitalism, a theory that the Golden Throne of The Macabees had invented. Even after ferious attacks from protestors, citizens, and Woodstock Pact allies, the Federate did not cease his action, causing a nationwide protest to erupt. But soon these protests got out of hand when select people began throwing home-made bombs at police killing 50. In response, the police fired back at the protestors scattering them while others fought back, beginning a 24 hour bloodshed through the nation.

When news came of the Chamber's actions, Harsimran at first didn't respond and refused to make any comments. As police geared up to arrest him, he surprised everyone by going off quietly with the police. His expression was a face of defeat and sadness. Protestors quieted down their chant as the former Federate walked past and didn't say anything. But protestors didn't have to say anything as their face's reflected their disappointment in him.

Meanwhile, the Chamber has made a startling move by electing former Prime Minister Satpul Singh to take the office of Federate until the Febuary elections roll around. In a press conference that he held only hours before, Satpul had this to say, "I'm thank the Chamber and am in gratitude for being elected as a temporary Federate. I'm also deeply disappointed that my former close friend, Harsimran, had to committ such acts as this. He used to remember him as a man of greatness and caringness until yesterday. Only god knows what happened to him." Satpul further commented on the situation across the nation, "In the name of democracy and the people, I hearby declare martial law officially over, all protestors that had been arrested are now free to go, all troops and police will stand down along with maintain order, though and all rights are once more infused to the people of the union." This news was met by a loud applause from citizens of the Union as they cheered on their victory.

Across the nation, any fighting and firefights that we occuring have seemingly stopped and police along with troops are putting down arms while going back to their job of maintaining order. Once more the people are holding hands of friendship with their fellow man as cleanup begins and the wounded and injured are treated across the nation. Satpul had this to say about the current situation, "Know is the time to heal our wounds once more along with greive for those who have left us and come together as family not factions. I believe the worse has passed over us and we can once more return to a sense of normalcy."

Recent statistics place the death toll across the country at 673 confirmed dead with 920 injured. A day of sadness has rolled down upon the nation as families grieve over the death of loved ones and people cremate those that have parted them all over the nation in a traditional Sikh funeral.

On the upside, though, a recent poll done by Union Polling Association (UPA) found that 88% of the people fully agreed with Satpul's actions and 9% don't. A remaining 3% have said they don't care or don't know. Our correspondants talked to one citizen who reflects what most of Space Union thinks, "I'm glad that we once more are in a democracy that protects our rights not the rights of one man. I am thankful to Satpul for his work and along with the allies of Space Union who stood up against Harsimran when they could've abandoned us. I just hope they forgive us."

As for Harsimran, the Chamber has also elected to put him up for trial in the High Court for Crimes Against the Nation, similar to accusations for Crimes Against Humanity but smaller in scope. The trial is set to begin soon, though no definate day, but Chamber members have also voted to have the trial operated by a neurtal party, though it will still be held in Space Union. Prosecution will most likely come from non-biased sources but there will witnesses from Space Union and allied nations if they allow so. Defense will most likely taken up by a non-biased lawyer.

As normalcy comes once more over the nation, all there left is to rebuild and continue on as humanity has after every conflict.

Space Union stable once again; Chamber impeaches Mann

by Mario Battistuta in Timiocato, and Fatima Burgena in Ayadi

It's finally over.

After nearly thirty-six hours of extreme political tension in Pacitalia's northeastern neighbour, the instability in Space Union has come to the best end possible - a peaceful one.

Now deposed federate Harsimran Mann was impeached by a unanimous vote in the country's Chamber of Electorates, sending a clear message that Space Union's democratic values were not to be tampered with under any circumstance. The Chamber voted 24:0 in favour of impeaching Mr Mann; he was placed under arrest shortly after and went without protest.

Harsimran Mann's sudden switch to totalitarian martialism was a shocking one for the international community. He originally wanted to switch Space Union to an absolute capitalist system but when Pacitalian political figures interjected and the people of Space Union came out in droves to publicly oppose the measures, some with violent means, Mann was "forced" to enact a state of martial law and transferred all powers to himself under the pretext of a "national emergency".

When that occurred, Pacitalian officials sealed the border with Space Union, and the Sarzonians enacted diplomatic probation and launched a formal review of the country's membership in the Woodstock Pact. The Second Empire of the Golden Throne, Halberdgardia and The Voltarum were the next countries to share their views on the crisis, but a sudden reversal of fortune sees Space Union returned to stability.

But the third membership review of a Woodstock Pact nation in less than two months is certainly troubling: many outsiders see this as just another domino in the complex but unstable web that is the Pact. Pacitalian and Praetonian delegates have suggested a refound of the Pact under a new name and new ideals; they even went far enough to draft a revised Pact charter. However, nothing has come of that, and the Pact continues to operate as originally planned, while two members have quit or been forced out through antagonisation and a third was on the precipice of a similar fate before the installation of the wildly popular Satpal Singh as interim federate until the elections on 20th February.

Pacitalians and the world will continue to watch with bated breath as their neighbour to the northeast ascends back out of the depths of a sudden hell.

Yeah, and I was hoping you would want to RP as a witness, maybe one of your leaders, considering that Harsimran directly critized you.

Satpul Looks To Repair Relations; Mann's Trial Date Set

Ayadi, Space Union - Only hours after being elected as the interim Federate, Satpul has disclosed his interest in repairing relations with its allies in the Woodstock Pact especially its neighbor Pacitalia.

Federate Satpul Singh gave a press release comment stating, "I realise that this crisis in Space Union has shaken both us and our allies. With the crisis solved, our shaken allies are still shaken. Therefore it is only nessessary to repair our relationships with the Woodstock Pact especially our southeastern neighbor, Pacitalia." Satpul has not released how he manages to do this but most likely he is eyeing to reoffer the conference between the two nation's that Mann offered before sliding into chaos.

Along with Pacitalia, Satpul is looking to restore relations with its Woodstock Pact allies including Sarzonia, Omz, and The Voltarum, who Mann had earlier critized directly. Satpul is hoping that they will forgive Space Union and restore relations together. Earlier they had put Space Union on probation, diplomatically, along with cut-off their borders and relations, albeit temporarly, admist political turmoil in the country. But with the turmoil passing by, Satpul is looking toward the future.

Meanwhile, the government has taken little time to set a trial date for the former Federate Harsimran Mann, who is in custody now after being arrested earlier today. It is set to begin on March 14th, only a shortwhile from now. It is suspected that top officials from Pacitalia and likely Sarzonia will come to testify against Harsimran and press charges against him in court. Even the court has been selected. The trial will officially take place in High Court, being a prominate case that will affect the entire nation in every level of society.

As Harsimran goes on trial, Satpul continues to retract most of Harsimran's later actions. For one thing, he has dismantled the plan to turn Absolute Capitalist, the very issue that plunged his administration into a black hole of hell and started this entire crisis. Along with that, Satpul has set up a public fund that will compensate families who lost love ones in the 36-hour crisis. He has even gone to the length of proclaiming tomorrow as a National Grieving Day, where the flag will fly at half-stature on poles across the nation in honor for those who died, alike.

As the clouds begin to disappate, only time will tell what the next course of action will be.

Space Union "Crisis" Averted; Longbottom Approves

OHM (VFP) - The news caused vibrations throughout the international community early this morning, as Space Union's Chamber of Electorates special session ended in a unanimous vote to oust controversial, and seemingly power hungry leader, Harsimran Mann. Despite fears that Mann would not relinquish his power without a fight, the ex-Federate of Space Union went quietly as he was arrested this morning.

In a statement this afternoon, Premier Xerco Longbottom applauded the result of the session, and congratulated the people of Space Union. "This will go down as a momentuous decision in our great ally's history - in a true act of democracy, the people showed that they alone hold the power to govern themselves."

The Premier also praised the Chamber's decision to elect former Space Union Prime Minister Satpul Singh as the interim Federate until proper elections take place in the next month. Singh has already moved to undo many of the ill- advised mandates his predecessor put into place.

Closing his comments, Longbottom proclaimed that all of The Voltarum will also observe a national grieving day tomorrow for victims of this political fiasco. All flags will be flown at half-mast, and a donation of 1 Million Volts will be wired to Space Union to be added to the public fund established by Singh. "All Voltaru grieve for the wound this has caused our ally. We wish interim Federate Singh the best in healing any damage this has caused."

In a related story, several dozen Voltaru lawyers have volunteered publicly to serve as both prosecution and defense of Mann in his upcoming trial. Most shoking, however, is the pledge of Supreme Court Justice Castor Frenktop to officiate such a hearing if his service was needed. While it is not known whether such a vacancy of his seat would constitute a replacement, or even be tolerated by the Premier, Frenktop, the youngest and most popular member of the High Court, seemed absolute in his statement.

Debacle in Space Union Circumvented
FEDALA, the Empire - After an atrocious few days of speculation and horror, the 'Space Union Circus', as it has become to be known in the Empire, ended in a suprise impeachment of Mann. Strangely, Mann posed no resistance to his impeachment and agreed to be taken into custody the same day, sentenced to a national trial for crimes against the state and crimes against humanity. Prime Minister Satpul Singh has taken his position as Federate, marking a new era in Space Union. Mann's fall has issued a slight defeat for the growth of Absolute Capitalism, especially in the Capitalizt haven of Atlantian Oceania, delegated by Bettia. Regardless of the political situation in Space Union, however, several key importers and exporters to the Macabee market in AO have reinforced their position and promised that keeping the market open is their only goal, which offers a slight relief to Fedala.

There are some uncertanties that remain, however. For one, Space Union's stance in the IADF remains unknown. The IADF has stated that it will not rule for an ejection, as technically Space Union internal affairs have nothing to do with the alliance, unless Space Union was openly hostile. Second, Imperial-Space Union relations remain speculative, as well, with all 'allies' of the Empire now deposed and standing trial.

With that in mind, Jench Fersas has said that he will attend the trial and has already issued a letter to the defense attorneys of ex-Federate Mann, in which he explains that he is willing to become a witness for the defense of Mann. When questioned by the press, Fresas said, "We will not let an ally down in times of great need. Although there is no doubt that in some perspective he did overstep himself, he certainly does not deserve many of the accusations that have been pounced upon him."

Otherwise, economist have determined that Space Union will see an "economic slumber" for the first few years of the Singh adminstration. Author of a recent treatise, Artur Viernas, related, "Frankly, it's not the fact that they have not accepted absolute capitalism. You can gain economic power through other economic systems - that has already been proved. It is the fact that they attempted to instate absolute capitalism and suddenly decided to turn against it. In other words, foreign investors and national investors alike have lost trust and interest in the Union's market, and it will take at least a year or two for full trust with capital investors to be regained. A government, especially one like Space Union's, cannot pull such a prank and expect no consequences. The rise and fall of Mann is to mark the rise of, perhaps, the worst economic depressions in Space Union, which only dedicated work will revive."

In another interview, Fedor said, "I hope the Singh administration much luck. Fedala is always open to them, regardless of their politics. It is to say, any relations between us and them, is fully up to them."

Space Union's stance remains secretive at best.

Crisis averted: Sarzo explores serving as witness

by Steve LeFors
Daily Mail Staff Writer

WOODSTOCK -- With the impeachment and removal from office of Federate Harsimran Mann and the temporary elevation of former Prime Minister Satpul Singh to Federate pending elections in February, the crisis involving possible establishment of a Absolute Capitalism system against the will of the people of Space Union has been averted.

Following the arrest of Mann, President Mike Sarzo huddled with the Cabinet in the Gray House situation room and after a conference call with Parliament, announced that Sarzonia would lift the diplomatic probation of Space Union and would return Space Union's economic status to pre-crisis levels.

"The will of the people has proven to be far more powerful than the desires of one madman," Sarzo said in a nationally-televised speech given from his office in the Gray House. "With the civil crisis now in the past, the Incorporated Sarzonian Government can move toward the repair of the temporary fracture in relations between us and Space Union."

Sarzo also met with Vice President for Business and Commerce Janis Hedge to discuss the possibility of "filling in the gap" created by any loss of trade with Absolute Capitalist nation The Golden Throne. Sarzo declined to trudge further into a war of words with Emperor Fedor, saying "we're going to focus on the issues that matter to the Incorporated Sarzonian Government, to the Woodstock Pact, and to the Atlantian Oceania region."

Sarzo declined to answer questions about whether or not he would serve as a witness to the trial of Mann in Space Union, saying that the prospect of being opened to cross-examination by a foreign court "does not sit well with the Incorporated Sarzonian Government," unless Sarzo is serving his duties as Duke of Portshire in the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire.

"The president of Sarzonia has an immunity from testimony in Sarzonia," a Gray House spokesman said. "That doesn't apply to his duties in Hamptonshire." If Sarzo were to offer his testimony, that immunity would be thrown out the window."
