2006
Word had gotten out to the public about the tragedy(to the few) and miracle(to the many). Castro had died two days ago and his brother Raul was set to take his spot as 'President of Cuba' but the poeple protested. They were sick of the Communist policies and the unending hardship which had been cause by the Castro Dictatorship. Indeed, many of those who had lived under Batista had enjoyed life under his regime. They were growing wealthy and were loseing their third world status and evolveing into an economic and politically competent nation. All this stopped with Castro and the people remembered this. they remembered and they acted.
Before raul could even be elected a violent riot erupted in Habana led by a capitalist and student of Batistas policies. His name was Juan Fernando Prieto. His family had been very wealthy under Batista and had supported the dictator against Castro but when Castro took power they lost all. he wanted it back, with interest.
Immediately Army Groups were sent out to deal with the rioters but the govrnment didn't have the hold on the Army that they had when castro was alive. Groups began defecting to the side of the rioters and soon a full scale revolution was at hand.Within weeks all the surpressed anger towards the regime was unleashed from around the country. Former exiles were being welcomed back with open arms as they brought money and arms to the nation when they came back. It didn't take long for the government to realize that the whole of the nation was up in arms against them. many officials fled the country. Those that stayed would regret it.
After only two and a half months of fighting and propoganda, the new government took place. they immidiately renamed the country to The Free Republic of Cuba and immplaced Prieto as President of Cuba. Him and his cabinet and legislature began on a long road of employing Capitalism and free market economy back into Cuba, as well as trying to mend broken friendships with the USA and other American nations.
By January of 2015 the economy had fully recovered and was becomeing one of the best in the world. the military was top notch and they had become friends with the United States once more. It was just hoped that the United States would keep that friendship.
