IC:
The chopper thundered over the frigid waters of the arctic ocean as it approached the mysterious new island that had arisen as a result of several weeks of volcanic activity. The most recent readings by UAVs and USVs had confirmed that the activity had stopped and stability had returned, initial tests run by ground based rovers dropped by the UAVs had returned promising results regarding possibly underground mineral deposits, prompting Doctor Johnson's expedition.
Johnson looked across the large bay of the Carriage in the other rack of wall mounted passenger seats a section of marines were seated. Dressed in black fatigues and tactical gear, with black paint smeared across their faces and the specialized sighting systems fixed to their helmets, they looked more like robots than human beings. And they may as well be... Johnson thought, thinking glumly of the Tundra's recent, and highly violent history of civil war.
Filling the rest of the massive transport helicopter were fellow scientists and technicians, a small robot, and crates full of various survival and survey equipment. Johnson had been put in charge of the expedition to the new island that had arisen in the Northwest Passage, to survey the rock for valuable mineral deposits and lay claim in the name of the Tundra.
The pilot sounded the landing alert and the Carriage lowered itself onto the rocky surface of the island. it was fairly large, more or less circular moving out from a central volcano that had given it birth. The volcano wasn't to tall, but it had managed to bring up a fair chunk of land with it, sloping gently down from the volcano to a flat region before dipping in below the water line.
Taking his eyes away from the window, he undid his harness and stood up, letting the marines storm out of the chopper first, running through the pointless, but still necessary drill of securing the landing zone and ensuring the all clear before the survey team could disembark.
Finally the section commander signalled the all clear and the marines moved back into the chopper to help haul out the equipment.
*TDS Warlord, Northwest Passage*
The carrier Warlord glided through the waters at almost top speed, surrounded by a fleet of smaller warships, and in one case, a larger trimaran battleship, it and its accompanying fleet moved from their standard patrol route towards a new island that had arisen. One of the carriers' two Carriage choppers had reported back in, saying the survery team was delivered safe and was beginning its work, and the Warlord's fleet was assigned to assert Tundric sovereignty over the island and ensure no one tried to claim it.
With no other fleets known to be heading towards the island, it seemed as though it was going to be another simple milk run, prompting the fleet commander to assign its other battleship, an escort carrier, and small force of warships to remain on the patrol route, and serve as a reserve in case of emergencies.

After several days of heated discussion in Sovietain government, it had been agreed that a small taskforce of men be sent to establish an outpost on this island.
That was all very well, thought Commander Ludovic, as the battleship "Extricate" sailed from Chatoi harbour, but he was sure that his force of 300 men, 60 BMPs, 20 T55s and 5 Hinds would have little effect against the Canadian airforce and infantry. He had been promised AA support within a week, but that left him with for entire days exposed on the island. He was sure his maps of the island were inaccurate, and undoubtedly the Canadians would be arriving at that very moment. His only hope was to find a secluded bay, one that the enemy wouldn't have defended yet, and try to land his men discreetly. Even if they landed, he'd still need a secure base of operations, though.
He picked up the microphone to the ships PA system.
"All units, this is Commander Ludovic speaking. Ensure that your weapons and equipment is functional BEFORE the end of this voyage. Report any problems immediately. Squads will be boarding in alphabetical order. Only 3 squads per barge, as well as 4 crates from the supplies bay on deck 3. That is all."
Even if his men's equipment was in good order, he felt sure that those he faced would be equipped with more than AK74s and PK machineguns.
"Order one of the Hinds to fly west and give us some recon for a good, safe place for us to land. Tell its pilots to report any sightings of Canadian, or other, forces."

The "VS Admiral Koeferl" a small armed research corvette, with one armed VLW-Transport Helicopter,
is on the way to the newly discovered island.
Captain Schorrsch has ordered 5 Patrol-Ships to escort the "VS Admiral Koeferl" on it's
research mission to the island.
Mission Briefing on board of the "VS Admiral Koeferl":
"Good Morning,
our mission is an easy one and should run without complications.
We will arrive the island in 4 hours.
The KVS-1 special-forces-squad will establish a small Base-Camp
where our land-researching crew will be stationed.
3 Patrol-Ships will surround the island and will take measures,
make sonar-pictures and take water-samples.
The "VS Admiral Koeferl" will stay near the Landing Zone and
take samples and photographs in the area.
The remaining 2 Patrol-Ships will stay near the Landing Zone
and secure the "VS Admiral Koeferl" by staying alert and
scanning horizon.
We do not expect any other forces yet.
So this should be a peaceful research mission.
Thats all.
Dismissed"
The Mission-ships are on their way, not knowing what will expect them.

Due to having their sights distracted elsewhere, the government of Antanjyl had only now managed to mobilise the small naval force which would be used to take hold of the island, hopefully before any other nations arrive. At least if they were there, Antanjyl could just forcibly remove them. That island was not simply valuable for the resources it may contain, but due to the fact that it was relatively close to Antanjyl itself. Any nation which set up a base there would have a launching point to invade, or even worse, come to discover some of Antanjyl's dark secrets which is was currently trying to hide from the majority of the international community.
Thus, a large portion of the 7th naval fleet under direct control of Commander Apros has been launched under the order of General Gares himself. To turn back would for any reason would at the very least mean a demotion, and knowing Gares the punishment of such an act would not stop there...
"Heh... I sure hope no other nation took this opportunity to set up base on the island..." Apros muttered under his breath as he sat at the middle of the control room of one of the fleet's two destroyers, "For their own sake."

“How dense in resources”, demanded Lord Sollonaal.
“Very. No less than our own mountain ranges contain, but condensed into a single island”, replied the scientist who had conducted the scans and satellite imaging.
“Others will no doubt have noticed it too by now. Leave it we me. Go and conduct aa checkup on Project Defiler.”
“Yes, my Lord”
He exited the room and left Sollonaal to make the arrangements about this new island.

"Commander Apros! We've received a greeting signal from another group of ships in the area! They are foreign and our spy submarines have managed to gather that they seem to be from a nation known as Doeltsch." A young boy around the age of fourteen or so quickly shouted, rushing across deck in full military uniform.
"Damn! Well... We'd better respond to them. Continue on course, put engines on full and report back to Antanjyl at once!" Apros bellowed from the front of the destroyer as attempted to get a moment to himself, "Escort me to the bridge. I shall respond to them directly..."
"Yes sir! Praise Galf!" The boy recited in an almost machine-like tone.
"For the Empire!" Apros responded off-handedly as he followed the messenger back to the control room...

Hail! This is the 7th Imperial Naval of our God-Emperor Galf, responding to your greeting in kind. We weren't expecting to run into anyone out here, but I can only gather that you have come to investigate the island correct? Well I am apt to allow such a thing at this time, but be warned the great nation of Antanjyl has already staked its claim.

"Extricate, this is Firefly, we've spotted numerous ships closing fast on the island. I doubt our battleship and barges would stand up long against any of them. We haven't spotted any Canadian troops on the group yet, and we believe we have found a suitable location for a landing. Coordinates Fe21, Dc19."
"Roger that Firefly, continue to patrol the shore, notify us if any of the other ship change course. Can you give us accurate co-ordinates to their location?"
"Negative, but we can give an estimation."
"Go ahead."
Ludovic matched the pilots co-ordinates to the map.
"They're pretty close... We'd best head straight for the shore. Perhaps we can avoid them if we don't dally." But he was well aware that they would have far more sophisticated radar than he, and no doubt his ship would be visible to them before long. He again picked up the PA system.
"Hind crews C and D, get into the air and patrol the perimeter around this ship, and report any sightings. We expect you in the air within the next half hour."

Greetings Duke Apros,
we are here to investigate the island and gather information about it. We are not here to claim the island. We have peaceful intention. We would appreciate constructive cooperation with you and your forces. Our intention is, if that's ok, to set up a base camp, to study the local area and take ground, air and water samples. This is only for research purposes and to discover how our earth developed. If it is acceptable, Doeltsch will later establish a research center for geographical researches.

"...Perhaps Commander."
"Ah well, I suppose I have authority to make a deal with them." He said smugly, "So we might as well allow them to build a research facility. I doubt Antanjyl will mind..."

"OK, we're wasting time here. How long until we can start putting men on landing barges?"
"About two hours, sir."
"Have the helicopters spotted any more ships than the 5 we're trying to avoid?"
"Some possible sightings, sir. Not confirmed."
"Right. Order the two remaining hinds to take squads H and D from 2nd Company to the shore. Order them to take radio equipment, sandbags, and camoflage sheeting, and set up a surveillence post a mile or so inland. Nothing big, keep it discreet."
"Yes sir. Why?"
"Because, captain, a lot a nations are vying for this island. We came prepared for a fight, so on land we have an advantage for now. But we do not have sufficient air or naval support. And when the enemy fetch their land forces, I doubt our men will last long. We are fighting a much more advanced enemy, remember. But if we can establsh radio contact with them early on, we may be able to form some sort of coalition, and take over through that."
"Captain, order firefly to return to us. We may have need of it airlifting supplies to the advance party. Keep the two patrolling this perimeter at work, we need their recon."

"Gares..." Emperor Galf hissed from the far side of the table, looking at a map of the island. They had just received the report of enemy vessels sighted.
"Yes my Emperor?" The muscular general responded, wearing a suit of black armor over every inch of his body with the exception of his head, "What are your orders?"
"Is this Duke Apros a valuable commander?"
"Er... He has his uses, why?"
"Well in that case it would be a shame to lose him. I would like the entirety of the 7th naval fleet sent out to join him." Galf said with a smile as he scratched a clawed hand across the map, detailing the route he envisioned them taking.
"And Albeleo? Should we order him to assist them with the rest of the navy?"
"No... He has his own military campaign to take care of. Though if things don't go well we may have to resort to using our air force to help supplement things at the island."
"Understood. I will inform them immediately."

"Lieutenant! Is the radio up and running yet?" he shouted at the man kneeling by a mess of wires.
"Yes sir, it's just started responding."
"Good. what range does it have?"
"Only a few miles, sir. We can boost it with transmitters, though."

"Yes, sir. Thank you, sir."

Lord Antor Sampetra was working in his private office when he got the feeling that someone was watching him and looked up sharply. In one corner of the room was a dark hooded figure. Sampetra put down the paperwork, interested. The man was Lui Amovsky, the shadowy chief of Banduria's intelligence service.
"Yes?" he asked.
"I have some news you may be ... interested ... to hear," Amovsky said in his half-whisper, beckoning Sampetra to a side door.
Sampetra followed Amovsky into a nearby briefing room, where the other man showed him a display from which the only light in the room emanated. It was a map showing an island surrounded by blips, reconstructed from satellite intel. The blips represented foreign naval assets. Sampetra had commanded the Imperial Army for long enough to know that.
"This," Amovsky said a bit unnecessarily, "is an island that was very copiously not there several months ago. As you can see, it is just a hundred and fifty klicks from Banduria's southern tip. This could be of strategic importance to establishing bases. And look at these printouts."
In the dim light Sampetra read the lists of resources estimated at the island and gasped. "This could be of real value to the Imperium. But foreign ships have already claimed it."
"Ah, but have they?" Amovsky seemed to smile craftily, although in the half-light Sampetra could not be sure. "If they claim this island they could move on to the barrier islands, and then Imperial territory... do we want that?"
"No," Sampetra said. "I will claim it in the Emperor's name."
"Good man," said Amovsky.
"Exactly. No foreigner will be allowed on this base without permission. I will ensure that."
Sampetra returned to his office, connected to a secure frequency, and began broadcasting his orders.
From ports in the south of Banduria, the 14th Carrier Battle Fleet set out, escorting teams of researchers, engineers, workers, and Fanatics (in case the island needed cleansing from foreign bases). Flights of UAVs and UCAVs set out in relays, recording intel from the island and returning before the enemy had time to detect them. The experienced Archon Peter Canus was put in charge of the operation, leading the fleet and its escorts along the 2 1/2-hour journey to the island itself.

“Admiral, we have entered the proximity of the island”, declared an officer standing over the ships tactical dsplay, “multiple contacts at several points around the area – all converging on…”
“Incoming communications Admiral”, interrupted the comm. officer.
Admiral Arisâ Levrin stood motionless as she listened to the message from one Admiral of the ‘Tundric Defence Forces’. She had only recently been promoted to the rank of Admiral herself, in recognition for her actions during the war against the Kraven Corporation after her commanding officer had been killed.
As she listened, she found the message amused her. If they have already claimed the island then why are they not on it

"No... We'll just need to play things smart and hope this escalates into a full-scale conflict between everyone else. Then once their collective back is turned or General Albeleo returns from his naval campaign we will take this island by force. But untill then we will wait offshore... Though I might have an idea to give us an edge should worse come to worst..."
"You mean those mercenaries?!"
"Yes... With the funds from Antanjyl's slave pits we should have more than enough to hire them on to attack the others without anyone realising what exactly is going on." Greetings Admiral Hayes,
we are here to investigate the island and gather information about it.

"Captain, VV Doeltsch has ordered 32 Class-212 Submarines to head in our direction and give support, where possible. They will be here in a few hours."
"Great news! Something else?"
"Yes, Sir. They ordered us to take no offensive action, but respond if we are attacked. If there's no chance of getting to the island, we have to withdraw our forces, until Battles are over. They say, we should keep this as peaceful as possible."

“Distance to the island?”, asked the Admiral.
“Thirty five kilometers and closing.”
“Good, deploy the initial strike teams and get some fighters into air the on CAP.”
The orders were relayed quickly and in minutes ASF-32 ‘Shadows’ were launching off the decks of the three carriers in the battlegroup. Two squadrons (24 fighters) would soon be circling the oceans to protect the fleet from above.
On the rear of the IYS Summoner two Black Hawk helicopters lifted off the deck, pulling away sharply to the right to avoid the fighter jets currently being launched. Once they cleared the carrier the two craft quickly dropped down to just above sea level, skimming the water as the bore their cargo towards the island. As they went white lines danced across the exterior surface from the reflective waves below.
“Sergeant. 5 minutes to insertion”, called the pilot of the lead craft to his passengers. Although almost yelling, his voice was barely audible over the rotors of the helicopters and the noise of the water being churned up under them from the downdraft.
“Copy that”, replied Sergeant Garrick as he gave a hand signal to his team to indicate the time till landing. Most failed to see though as they concentrated on preparing their weapons and equipment.

Aboard the Extricate
"We can't linger here with all these fleets closing in... We just don't have enough firepower... Take us out to a safe distance, away from the island and the enemy. We can start broadcasting homefor reinforcements."
"Do you think we'll get any, Commander?"
"Probably, lieutenant. But it won't be enough. Send the remaining hinds out to the men. Are they all in barges, at least?"
"Yes sir, the last few groups are due to hit the shore in the next 3 hours."
"Good. Put Commander Linovic in charge until I return. We sail once all our men are on that beach."
-------------
Commander Linovic studied the map closely. He was looking for a good, high plateau he could put his men on. He knew the enemy forces would dwarf his tiny army, but he was also sure that his men could remain out of sight of the enemy, or at least so insignificant as to not warrant an attack. With a good surveillance network, he'd be able to scout out any land battles, and swoop in on the weakened enemy in the aftermath. Even then, he thought, that enemy would still prove a hard fight.
He had no intention of "Claiming" the island. He felt that such a gaudy and arrogant act would draw attention to his force, and the very last thing he wanted was attention, now his escape route had sailed away from him.
He turned to watch the next 3 barges sail in. The had to be a better way of landing. 3 barges going back and forth for hours and hours would prove a spectacle to the enemy. And spectacles offer nothing but attention.

"Currently approaching the island, ETA thirty minutes."
Canus nodded absently, looking out across the bridge of the battle hypercarrier. Nearly as large as the massive Super Dreadnaughts of the Bandurian Imperial Navy, it was surrounded by a small fleet of escorts. The Bandurians were beginning to move in...
Canus's iron-grey head snapped sharply the other way as another aide came running. "Sir... I think you'd better see this."
The archon followed the aide into the control room, where he was shown the printouts of various transmissions. "Other fleets are already attempting to take over the area."
"Well... that's just too bad for them, in that case!" Canus smiled. "Issue order ICA4-31."

The Reports coming back from the hinds were not good. Linovic was attempting to listen to two pilots at the same time, and his notes were suffering accordingly.
"This is Mosquito, I have a visual on some kind of of a landing... I see 50, maybe 60 men. No vehicles."
"Any ships?" Said Linovic, seizing the mic from the radio operator.
"I think I can see a couple... Nothing large, certainly no larger than the "Extricate". It's hard to tell though, there may be a few patrol boats."
"Thank you, mosquito. We'll send a squad to watch their development shortly. You may return to this encampment when they arrve. Base out."
The camp Linovic was talking about was his new base of operations. He had managed to find a stepped hill near the southern mountains, and had positioned his men on the top few platforms. They were making a passable base for now, but he knew it wouldn't stand against artillery or a prolonged aussalt. Turning to the other radio, which was hissing and crackling with static, Linovic tried to decipher the background noise from the pilots voice.
"Base this is Firefly. Base, there's a fleet out here!"
"Yes, we know. There are several." Sighed Linovic.
"No, sir, you don't understand! This fleet... it's like nothing I've ever seen! There's a gigantic ship at the heart of it, larger than any cruiser I've ever seen, but in carrier format!"
"Firefly, you're breaking up. How large to you estimate it is?"
"At least twice the size of any of the cruisers we've ever commissioned, sir. At least twice the size, if not more!"
"Good lord... I didn't realise any ships that large would even be in commission any longer." Linovic could hardly believe a hypercarrier could be thrown so carelessly into a conflict. They cost an absolute fortune just to run, let alone build.
"How large is the fleet overall? How close?"
"Dozens of ships ships, sir. And closing fast on the north of the island. What are my orders?"
"Keep watch, but stay at a safe distance. If they hail you, contact me immediately."
Linovic turned away. Perhaps it had been unwise to trifle with such an enemy. The new arrivals, however... At last, a force his expeditin could crush. He had no doubt that his armour would make short work of a single company of infantry, but now he was less sure he wanted another enemy. Perhaps it was time to start forging an alliance. He saw no other way around the fact that supernations had now started joining the conflict, and Sovietain could do little to hold on to a stake of the island.
"Send this to the new arrivals." He told the radio operator.

Aboard the Felucan Submarine Trout, a sonar technician examined the data from his computers. He then looked up, "Sir. I'm detecting massive surface movement here from several directions. Also getting some submerged contacts."
Orders were given and the Trout slowly, steathily slid up to about twenty feet under the surface. A periscope rose upwards, only inches above the water as it focused on distant shapes. The Trout's Captain made some adjustments to the controls, and the scope's filters dulled out the glare of the sun and brought to focus warships perhaps two miles away. Various models and numbers were noted before the device disappeared again, and with that the Felucan submarine was again running deep.

"Sir, we seem to have detected a contact."
"Good." The archon watched the nearest SONAR screen as a submersible just six klicks away began rising towards the surface. "Have a few of our Lerneas pursue it and destroy it if possible."
"Yes Sir." The aide scurried off from the cabin atop the massive hypercarrier, punching in coordinates. Five Lernea-class SSNs descended to about 210 m and began pursuing the submersible contact at a stealthy 16 knots, while torpedoes began arming within their torpedo tubes, following the submarine back towards where it came from...

The contact of course, wasn't going home. Rather instead, became dead silent for several minutes. Then, there was contact in the form of sounds of acelleration, heading directly towards said 'hyper carrier' at about 20 knots from a position several hundred meters north of where the initial contact had been detected.
The sudden reappearance of the contact was not a particular surprise to the Lernea-class SSNs, which themselves had stealth measures. Nevertheless, it could prove to be somewhat troublesome. Therefore, the lead submarine launched four of its torpedoes towards the contact. The torpedoes descended to over 400 m, running near-silent on SONAR screens, until their fuel engines would shut off and an auxiliary water RAMjet engine would ignite, sending the torpedoes shooting up into the belly of the contact. With their tungsten-plated heads, the torpedoes had been designed as an anti-Super Dreadnaught weapon, but worked just as well against anything else.
The submarines waited to see the unknown contact's responce.
The Xeno

The bridge of the Trout was dead silent. Everyone was dead silent. A red light glowing in every compartment demanded so.
A technician whispered, "Aye, contact. Torpedo discharge straight ahead. It's chasing the decoy."
Fingers tapped at non-clicking, padded keyboards with as little noise as one might make when poking a pillow with their fingertips. The submarine's computer ran the dynamics of the actual launch, then combined with triangulation from sound-recievers on the hull of the ship itself, pinpointed the target.
The torpedo bays were already flooded and open.
****
The enemy torpedo of course, would catch up to the much slower target, a Mark 40D decoy, and there it explodes. The shockwave of such an underwater explosion would ruin listening for those 4 submarines that are so much closer to it. .. and of course one other effect.
****
"Fire."
Motors on four torpedos lit up, and they glided effortlessly forward, towards the intial contact. Magnetic and pulse sonar detection reached out, and two of the missiles sensed targets.
Trailing thin wires behind them for terminal guidance, the torpedos relayed these targets to their controllers, and the two seperate weapons officers agreed due to bearing and distance apart, they were tracking two different targets at once. - This is made easier by the second effect of the explosion. Soundwaves. They would vibrate the hulls of the submarines closer to it, making even a 'stealth' submarine 'visable' to listening computers.
Then again, sound is the primary way of locating submarines anyway, sonar tending to give away one's position. The Felucans had learned long ago that to survive under the ocean, one must have very large ears and a small mouth.
Those two torpedos would then be guided in, streaking along through the water, ignoring everything except what their weapons officers told them to look at. And that was the two hulls ahead of them.
Meanwhile, the other two torpedos, Mark 40Ds like the first one went off into seperate directions, while the Trout followed in the wake of one of the torpedos, still relying on the "blinded" state of those enemy submarines that were between it and the explosion.

Duke Apros' small fleet remained far offshore, well away from the conflict. Onboard the ship, the officers and himself had finally sat down to enjoy a meal. It was more of a vacation for them, as they watched the reports come in of the numerous fighting beginning. If anyone noticed, they would declare sovereignity and say that they are simply protecting Antanjyl interests and making sure no enemy fleets come by through the area. If they continued to pry the fleet would move back a bit, returning hours later. For now at least, they would not get into the conflict at least.
"Sir... Are you sure this is alright?" One of the officers said coldly as he bit into a piece of red flesh, blood dripping from the side of his mouth as he chewed it, "I mean... Galf might get angry if we waste too much time..."
"Ah! Don't worry about it. When general Albeleo comes from his current campaign, he can take the island when everyone is weakened." Apros said matter-of-factly, sipping at a glass of red liquor, "Besides, so far nobody has questioned us. I think the plan is going pretty well..."

The Sovietain encampment was in panic. The hind sent to watch the Bandurian navy from afar had reported several ships headed south. Linovic could only think of one reason for this sudden change of course, and that was his message. They'd be tracking it a few miles east of his current position, but even so, a detailed search would soon expose his men.
He was ordering as many of his armour units away from the camp, into the safety of the mountains, along with 100 infantry. He had ordered all the stinger missile launchers taken out of supplies, and positioned teams of AA troops all around the base. He had given as many others as possible AT4 launchers, as well as RPG's, in the hope that if an air strike occured, he could meet it with hails of explosives. And with that many explosions around someone was bound to die. On their side, preferably. He was aware that the Bandurians might try a landing- The beach had been mined at the very start of of his campaign, but he still decided to send most of his other men on patrol and surveillance missions.
The Commander had asked for this fight, and if all went to plan his vague ideas of forming some kind of Coalition to take the island over would be realised. If not, he'd likely be spending some time appreciating the Banduran jails.

Linovic was torn. He was sure that a Doeltch assisted evac was the best course of action, but he knew that not half of his armour could be off the Island before the Bandurians arrived. He did not wish to leave his men, but he worried that by not evacuating, he would risk the deaths of dozens of his infantry. He couldn't abandon the tanks, though- The Sovietain government had so little money, she could not spend too much on her military, so the abandonment of over 70 functional APCs and T55s would guarantee that he would not recieve his precious reinforcements.
He at last reached a decision. By sending those tanks he could not evac north, far from his camps and deeper into the mountains, they could cover them with camoflage sheeting, and turn off all systems. Bandurian bombers, and even ground forces, would be hard-put to see them, even if they did comb the south with thermal and electromagnetic. As a plus, only 50 men would need to remain with them. It was perfect!
"Lieutenant, send this to the Doelch, fast!" He barked, scribbling is message.
"Yes sir!" The radio operator leant forward to transmit the message.

"Send out a transmission to all our men. Order them to assemble immediately, with equipment, two miles south of this base. Order all armour groups to prepare to move out on my command. And I wish to speak with Major Chernov, get him for me." He said to the Lieutenant, as he finished sending the message.
"Right away, sir." The Lieutenant beckoned two other operators to him, and explained the commanders orders.

OOC: So if this guy, who decided to fall for one of the most-basic of modern submarine traps, doesn't reply, do I assume he takes the damage and I move on?
I think he might be mad that he's going to lose nuclear submarines due to some really sloppy tactics on his own part. >_>

Major Chernov surveyed the few men who'd approached the Sovietain encampment.
"Hey, how are you." He briefly clasped the mans hand. "I'm in a hurry, but I'll pass your salutations on to the commander. We're all in a hurry, in fact. I assume you know of the Bandurians? They're coming here, now, and we can safely assume that we're about to take some serious pounding. We're in the middle of a mass-evac, as a matter of fact. The smartest thing you could do with your time is take some of those aircraft and get the hell out of here before this whole place goes up in flames."
Chernov paused for a moment. "You might be able to hitch a lift with one of our hinds... we're heading out for the Doeltsch ships. You can wait over by that copter if you'd like to entertain that idea. I have to report in, I'll see you later."
The major turned and began to jog off. He stopped, turned, and called out:
"You may want to maintain a safe distance from the bay to the east. It's liable to explode, if you know what I mean." He winked, and jogged on.

Turning around once more, Chernov replied.
"Thanks, but we're heading out for the Doeltsch. They aren't expecting any other nations aircraft, so we have to use theirs and ours. We'll set up a secure line, and our leaders can talk when our men are safe, ok? I'll see you later!"

OOC: I gave him plenty of time to respond. He's choosen not to, though. So.. I'll continue on with the RPing.
IC:
The crew of the Trout waited tensely for about two minutes as the high-speed torpedos closed in on their targets, magnetic detection and sonar systems in full agreement as to where to strike.
*kaboom!* The listening tech winced at the volume of noise, followed seconds later by another *kaboom!* as two nuclear submarines were struck by the Mark 40s.
The technician looked up, "Recieving break-up now, sir. Those are confirmed kills."
The Trout would continue to follow in the wake of one of the Mark 40D decoys, using it to mask the sound of its own passage to the north of where the shots were fired.
Once clear of the danger zone, the submarine would settle into a silent-running series again at around 200 feet.
"Sir, surface engine sounds indicate that the fleet is withdrawing." Noted, of the Bandurian fleet (Since he hasn't responded, just going to let him get away with what's left of his fleet) as it retreated to wherever it came from.
"Very well. Take us closer to the island." - "Aye sir!"
The Trout slid noiselessly through the sea towards a better position to view the action from. Its towed sonar following along behind.

From: Captain Schorrsch of the "VS Admiral Koeferl"
Greetings Commander Linovic,
We've already sent our task force closing up to you. Evac-Plans are as follows:
Our Patrol-Ships have some space for infantry and a few vehicles, they can sail near the island and take your men out with small boats.
Our cargo-Ships have some more space. We can load them by using your Hinds and our Transport Helicopter.
Same is for the "VS Admiral Koeferl", the "VS Roter Stern" and the "VS Hammer".
The "VS Admiral Kulikov" and the Heli Carrier have both large flight decks and Cargo-Bays where we can get some infantry and armor to.
While evacuating, we'll be covered by our AA-Gunships, the Helis of our Carrier and our Submarines.
Send your Hinds when you are ready.
Sincerely,
Captain Schorrsch,
Captain of the "VS Admiral Koeferl"

Linovic read and reread the Doeltsch transmission several times, to ensure his orders were accurate. He spoke through the temp. PA system, and his voice echoed across the base.
"Ok, men, listen up! C company, and Armour groups A to H, you are now under the direct command of Major Chernov! He will be taking you to safety, until we return.
Company A, you will wait by the temporary landing zones. The Hinds will carry you out to the Doeltsch supply ships. A Doeltsch copter will be assisting, make use of it.
All other units, INCLUDING the few armour remaining, you will be picked up by several ships a few miles south of our original landing zone. DO NOT ENTER THE BAY! It has been heavily mined by our EEs!
Get moving, there isn't much time! And keep your weapons and equipment on hand at all times. Thank you, that is all."
Linovic hastened to send a reply to the Doeltsch.

That is more than adequate. Coordinates for our secure beaches are attached. Our Hinds are ready to head out to your supply ships, they should be with you shortly.
I have a hind standing by for myself and a squad of soldiers. May we land on the "Koeferl"? It would be more convenient for us to talk face to face. Stay away from the bay to your west, it has been mined.
We thank you again for your hospitality. Once our reinforcements arrive, we shall be happy to aid you in any way possible.

"Ok, men. The Hinds are coming. Once they're here we'll start the evac. And stay away from the bay, its mined! Are the Hokums already in the air?"
"Yes, Captain! The last few are starting this moment."
"Good, send a message to Commander Linovic:"

Greetings Commander Linovic,
it would be a pleasure to meet you face to face. You are allowed to land on the "VS Doeltsch". We'll give you crew-quarters if necessary, and I think you might as well be hungry, so we'll make a short lunch break, where we can speak.
Our Hokums have started to cover the Operation. We'll send imediate update if enemy forces are trying to interfere.
Sincerely,
Captain Schorrsch,
