Having recently returned this nation from the land of the dead I'm looking to fight a small war to get back into RPing. My idea for a war is volcanic activity raises a new, fair sized island in the north arctic ocean. While a generally rocky, barren, and harsh enviroment, it contains extensive mineral deposits including diamonds, gold, iron, and other metals. Combined with this, the underground magma has cooled beneath the surrounding ocean surface creating even more extensive undersea deposits. In addition to the mineral wealth, the island is strategically positioned to allow challenge to the Tundra's control of the northwest passage, or at least give a case for control of part of the passage to the owning nation.

The tundra deploys a task force to garrison the island until explortatory teams can set up on the island and development begins, giving a window for other nations interested in the wealth and strategic possibilities to lay their own claim and send in expeditionary forces.

Well, seeing as how my country is located near the artic circle I might join. However since I am currently in another war I would only be able to send a small portion of my Imperial Army. How large of a war are you expecting?

Thinking of a minor conflict, say a naval task force and small marine expeditionary, mostly air and naval combat, unless marine forces are landed on the island, in which case some small scale land battles.

Well I'll definately consider it. We're a pretty aggressive nation, so chances are we'll easily break into a fight over a nearby territory if it would buy us some type of advantage.

This is a perfect set-up. I'm located in the far north, most of my island nation being icy tundra and desolate moors and mountains -- the island we're fighting over could be of strategic importance to guard my nation against coming invasions -- and I have an absolutely massive, albeit overconfident, military fully equipped to fight several major wars at once.

Put me down for one spot here.

My nation has a coast just west of Russia, so this'd be an ideal conflict.

My nation doesn't have many troops, though, and those we do have are poorly trained. Not to worry.

Well this would be alot of nations vying for the island, but I'm in regardless.

I'm interested in this - The Infinite Empire is always looking for new supplies of resources.

Wow, a lot of contenders, as many nations as want to join can, though it will probably be a little confusing with so many. So, here's a suggestion, since there's going to be a whole bunch of us fighting for it, why don't some nations join together, it'll boost their chances, and while they'll have to share, it will still probably be worth it.

Of course everyone here could join the world war NS (including you The Canadian Tundra)
But whatever.

i'd be interested, however, at this point, my entire military consists of a couple of batallions of infantry and a few transport craft. this means i'd have to ally with someone. but new sources of minerals are always good. i'll ally with anyone who'd sell me some [or allow me to mine a portion] upon victory.. though that kinda thing is IC, really, isn't it?

i'm also sorta miles away from the island, proibly.

That would be good, as we currently have no real heavy infantry. We have large amounts of guerillas though, and with us and your men, there will be no stopping us.

I'd join, since war is always fun. But this would be the worst point of war for me. Not only am I experiencing a political crisis, but my people excel in fighting hot desert climates and the heat. Fighting against an enemy in the cold is just a massive disadvatange without bounds.
