In my experience, most MT/PMT nations are Human, and based on Earth. My question is that are there any nations out there that are MT/PMT that are aliens? Most first contact RPs are done with someone from MT/PMT finding someone in the FT range. I think that it would be pretty interesting to see how first contact would go with races that are both MT through SETI like programs.

Opinions on this? Or are there many examples of what I've suggested floating around, which I've simply overlooked?

I would think that that would be possible

OOC: There are some primative aliens out there. But they tend to either get conquered (by forces benevolent {sometimes phrased as 'protected'}, or otherwise) or exterminated by FTers.

OOC: I use Half-Life aliens as part of my MT Upper Xen culture, but they're a minority (but you knew that).

And the challenge with this would be once these two MT nations do make contact, how will they meet using Space Shuttles and Soyuz-type capsules? To meet, they would effectively have to advance into PMT to make contact.

There's some Goblins, Orcs, and a few other fantasy type MT races out there. And I had a race of creepy crawlies known as slivers at one point, that I used for all Tech levels of RP.

Some people have their own races for modern tech, though it makes it harder to RP with the general majority as many people don't want to make it unrealistic (as in aliens). This sort of falls into a fantasy category...

it is possible though very boring due to only being able to send a static transmission to reach Earth after a few years though if you can get other players on your planet it could be fun (imagine cloning human beings but they just turn round and try to take your planet aided by Earth nations or visa versa)

hell you could get players having nations on both planets
