OOC: This RP is set in an alternate history Europe in December 1935. It is a continuation of the Weimar RP, although you don't need to have played in Weimar to join up. For those who haven't played that RP, the alternate history is based on one very simple premise: Hitler died from gas poisoning during World War One.

Without him, history has developed very differently. In 1932, a civil war began in Germany between the communist KPD party and the right-wing paramilitaries - Weimar finished in the middle of that war. We now fast-forward to 1935...

Germany is a torn country. Three years of bloody civil war and almost one million casualties have ruined the once proud nation, dividing the Germanic people into three separate states.

In the north, the Socialist Republic of Germany, a communist state ruled by an absolute government.

In the west lies the Indepedent Rhineland Confederation, a group of city states lying on the river Rhine. Although an independent socialist democracy, they remain the puppet of the larger Socialist Republic.

And in the south and east, the German Empire. Right-wing militias have restored Kaiser Wilhelm II to the throne in an authoritarian monarchy.

The years of fighting have subsided, and now there is a chance for peace. Diplomats from all three states have travelled to Paris for a conference to end the war, and seal the fate of Germany. But something - someone - stands in the way of peace. There have been threats of violence at the conference, and fears of assassination are high. Somewhere there is a rogue terrorist, intent on fracturing this fragile peace. He or she cannot succeed.

Here's the premise of the RP: each of you choose a character to take part in the negotiations. However, one of these characters - I won't say which - is in fact the terrorist. When someone chooses them, I will telegram them with their mission to destroy the conference.

The rest of the characters must then try to work out who the spy is, before they have a chance to tear the conference apart. It's a race against time, and you can trust no-one. A list of characters is below.

Cast

Communists
Clara Zetkin - Foreign Commissar of the Socialist Republic. She is leading the negotiations on their behalf.
Wilhelm Diesmann - President of the Independent Rhineland Confederation. He is here to represent them, making sure they end up as more than a buffer state.
Wilhelm Zaisser - The director of KRAFT, the communist secret police force. He is in Paris secretly, on the tail of the terrorist.
Erich Mielke - Zaisser's deputy. A thug and the muscle behind KRAFT. Not nearly as clever as his boss - or so everyone thinks...

Nationalists
Theodor Duerstburg - Chancellor of the German Empire, and former general of the German Civil War. He hates the communists above all else.
Benito Mussolini - Dictator of Italy, and close friend of the Kaiser. He has supplied the German Empire with weapons and troops.

Neutrals
Pierre Laval - French Foreign Minister overseeing the peace. A right-wing, anti-Semitic man.
Comrade Litvinov - Foreign Commissar of the Soviet Union and ally of the communists.
Jozef Beck - Polish Foreign Minister. Worried that the German Empire may plan to invade Poland.
Samuel Hoare - British Foreign Minister. Aims, like Laval, to undermine Germany's power.

I'm trying to upload a map, so you can see the basic borders of the three countries. It's not that important anyway.
