(IC/maybe OOC) Dr. Sancatto Serra wants to know: What do you think of Pacitalia?
Pacitalia

OOC: Okay, so you don't need to say anything about me OOCly, unless it's really important to you. If that's the case, go ahead. :p Otherwise, let's just do IC comments.
OOC2: As it says below, I'm following AMF/SEA's lead.
OOC3: The starred text means Happy New Year in Pacitalian. :)

======
Members of the international community --
Following the lead of our virtuous friends in Automagfreek and Southeast Asia, we have decided to create our own litmus test to procure the opinions of our friends (and, I daresay, enemies) in the international community. This is part of our Symposia Strategy 2006 on International Relations, so that we can improve our knowledge of the world's view of us, and act accordingly on how we present ourselves in the diplomatic community.
Please do not hesitate to share your views of Pacitalia - they can be general, or to a specific thing. Please do not hesitate to criticise us if you see the need. We would like to hear from anyone who has had direct or near-direct dealings with us in the past. Indirect-associated nations are also most welcome to share their views but our reciprocated knowledge may be minimal in that case.
I look very much forward to seeing what the international community thinks of Pacitalia, good or bad.

Dr. Rabastano Sancatto Serra,
We, in Van Luxemburg, although not having had contact in a while, quite follow your nation as one of our examples. We therefore are (or like to be) friendly to your nation.
But, there is ofcourse also a question for us to counter. What do you consider us? Have you ever met us? Maybe that last question was a bit too strange. But we'll listen to what you'll have to say.

Dear Dr. Rabastano,
on behalf of me and my people I can honestly say that the rather limited experiences and knowledge that we have gathered considering your nation has this far been only of the positive kind. Your nation has stood against tyranny side by side with the liberty, and even though your society is, both politically and economically very different when compared to ours it appears as a working system anyways.
We live in hope that our relations will become closer in the future.
Warchief Tamujid, The Minister of Everything in

OOC: You're a friend of Sarzonia and Praetonia, belong in the 1337 players-league with them and have a strong, economically and militarily very strong democracy - something even this half-mad despot of mine greatly respects.
As do I, for what RP I have seen you doing.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Government of Kahanistan is very critical of Pacitalia's alliance with AMF, but after they condemned the worse Freekish atrocities against our people, Kahanistan's policy toward them has warmed somewhat. We still find it hypocritical for a democracy with a solid human rights record to be allied with a nation that subjects people to the most horrific of tortures. AMF and its ilk would never even be allowed an embassy in Kahanistan, let alone an alliance.

Bump - I'll give some responses tomorrow (this is also a post-reservation).
His Majesty’s Government and a large percentage of the people believe that Pacitalia, her government, and her people are the truest, noblest allies of the people of the United Kingdom. And although there remain slight philosophical differences between ruling parties, not once have these differences been a cause for concern or a source of acrimony. Instead, the friendship between our two peoples is founded upon shared beliefs about free and open societies where the people have the ultimate say and representation in their own governance despite any and all differences in opinions. Furthermore, the friendship of our two governments was founded upon the friendship between two men of great honour and character and has been evolving ever since as our nations share many interests and common goals for both ourselves and the world as a whole.
The Pacitalian government has shown compassion, in both times of peace and times of war. The Pacitalian government has shown bravery and true courage in speaking out against atrocities where the majority remains silent in fear of retribution. The Pacitalian government has shown the world the true meaning of leadership; and so it is with great honour that the people of the United Kingdom can call all Pacitalians friends and the two governments of their own election as allies.

------------------------------
On behalf of Space Union, our standing opinion on the nation of Pacitalia is quite high as we consider you a great neighbor and ally. As our nation has a large percentage of Pacitalian speakers, it is only normal that we express that our nation's share a cultural link, nonetheless. When Space Union was drafting its new constitution, Space Union modelled its framework after many Pacitalian ideas and structures such as the Preamble. We are proud to have a ally, friend, and neighbor such as yourself and we hope that our friendship may only prosper further than any boundaries. God Bless You.

Dear Mr Mann, Ms Deveraux, Ms Delray, Warchief Tamujid and Mr Blom --
Thank you all very much for taking the time to send us your comments - all of them will be taken into serious consideration as part of the 2006 symposia's Intellectual Strata programme. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah or holiday, and a happy new year.
And to Mr Blom, I fear I have never met one of your countrymen or countrywomen before, but judging by your inspiring communications, I am quite certain it would be an honest pleasure.
I hope you all take care and have an excellent year.

While we view yoru nation fairly regularly, we do not have a sufficient. While you are indeed powerful, we do not deem you as a direct threat to our economic or political stability. On the other side of the coin, there is no direct relations with Jenrak that would have us deem you such as an ally or a friend. Therefore, we must say that our views towards Pacitalia are fairly neutral.

Dr. Sancatto Serra,
As my Pacitalian counterpart, please know not to expect anything less than the United Empire's full respect for the Democratic Capitalist Republic (OOC: Is that the right title?). Myself, and the entire Imperial Government consider it a great honor to have such a strong bond with a nation such as yours, led by perhaps the most influential and outspoken men I ever had the pleasure to meet, the Honorable Timothy Ell. We doubt we would be the same nation today if we had not become allied with Pacitalia, and for that, the United Empire of Comatica is truly greatful.
Please send my regards to outgoing Prime Minister Ell. He deserves nothing less than my wholehearted reverance for him.

FROM: Office of the USNSEA Minister of Foreign Affairs
SUBJECT: Southeast Asian Stance on Pacitalia
Here is Minister Lin's official statement on what he (and the Government of the United Sovereign Nations) thinks of the Pacitalian Government:
Official Statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs
Southeast Asia's Stance on the Democratic Capitalist Republic of Pacitalia
Dear Dr. Rabastano Sancatto Serra,
We indeed view your government the same way you think of ours. You are correct: Neo's foreign policy: "diplomacy over force", has indeed paid off and earned us a respectable reputation and stature. We hope for better relations in the future with your state, Dr. Sancatto Serra.
Yours Truly,
His Excellency,
USNSEA Minister of Foreign Affairs
Joshua Lin
You may be wondering why Minister Lin is unavailable to personally write this message: he is in the Libertarian Concordance of Czardas to seek diplomatic ties at a multinational conference. Unfortunately, Lin and his associates are stuck in a deep underground bunker along with the other national representatives because the Libertarian Concordance is under invasion by a coalition entirely consisted of her (Czardas) long-time enemies, and it seems that despite their advanced technology and their Space-Unionist and Skyian allies, Czardas will be transformed from a bastion of democracy and liberty into an oppressive dictatorship OR gutted up into protectorates for her foes' imperialistic desires. We can't spare warships because we have our own conflict that is binding our hands. Perhaps the Pacitalians could assist the Space-Unionist-Skyian-Czardaian defenders from one of the two equal evils that are totalitarianism and imperialism?

To the Office of the USNSEA Minister of Foreign Affairs and in turn to the governments of Czardas, Space Union and The Silver Sky --
Without a direct reason to get involved, it would be extremely inappropriate for us to contribute to this war, especially during an election campaign. We must stay neutral, regardless, because of the insurmountable fact that the Democratic Capitalist Republic has allies on both sides of the conflict. In the true Pacitalian spirit we could not turn our backs on one side to see the other to victory. My government greatly appreciates the fact that you look up to us for help, but unfortunately, our hands are tied in this situation. We would like to do more, but we simply cannot extend any sort of hand.
Godspeed. Perhaps, on further thought, our consciences may be swayed in your favour, but for now, I'm afraid my government can only see this conflict in a diplomatic light.

Dear sir --
My government and the people it represents strongly appreciate the level of enthusiastic support and respect we receive from our brave and loyal allies in the United Empire of Comatica. We do not consider loyalty to us as important as your loyalty to fighting for what you think is right; what you believe in. You must believe we have the utmost respect for you because of that.
And, despite the fact that we do not interact as much diplomatically as we used to, and despite your joining of the World Anti-Communist League, which we fear may stain your international reputation because of its desire to violently stamp out the oppressive scourge that is communism, we still think quite highly of you in many regards.
Together, we have stood against evil. Together, we have triumphed. Two administrations in Comatica, and now two in Pacitalia, have and will stand shoulder to shoulder, defending liberty against those who seek to challenge and overcome the rightful style of governance in our respective states.
And that, sir, is the very reason Pacitalians of all ages and races stand with our Comatican friends, proudly and fearlessly against the terrible things we have jointly witnessed in our years of friendship -- it is a simple thing but a far-reaching feeling, of love and respect for each other's traditions, history and people. We appreciate your respect and we look very much forward to working with you in future.

Official Government Statement
Constitutional Matriarchy of Reloria
"For a brighter tomorrow."
Given the unusual circumstances of Reloria until lately, and the recency of this government's establishment, our two nations have had little to no contact aside from a smattering of formal telegram communiques over the last week or two. This is hardly surprising, as we have been isolated from contacting essentially everybody, Pacitilia included.
However, somewhere in between working heavily and trying to find some time to get some sleep, I have been doing some research into the world around us now that our borders are opened and we are rid of censorship. From what I can tell, despite our two nations differing on certain issues such as welfare and perhaps to a lesser extent military affairs, Pacitalia has always been a force of decency, principles, and sanity in a world severely lacking in all three of those qualities. Your political process may even become something of a role model to this inexperienced government. And speaking off the record, as it were -- we regard all nations with a healthy dose of neutrality, but if push came to shove, yours would be viewed by this government as 'slightly less neutral than most'.
In short, you get a 'thumbs up' from the Relorian government. I personally hope our two nations can enjoy fruitful and peaceful relations over the coming years.
Good day and blessings of the Goddess to you, Dr. Serra.
