Integration of Post-Modern Tech Nations

So, this is stemming from Guffingford's thread, and I think this can solve many issues that revolve around the isolation of role playing 'groups' and the lack of interaction between a multitude of nations of the same technological level; in this case, post-modern and modern [many moder nations interact with post-modern nations]. To that effect, I think a lot of it can be solved if we have a common map for willing nations. In other words, this would be an Earth of sorts - but it would be the definative NS Earth. All NS nations that would be willing would be part of it, anad it would simply entail taking your existing map and working it into the 'global' map, or getting you added onto the global map.

Now, I'm fairly good with maps, but I'm no good with making continents look good. So, I can do a map if I really need to, but I would suggest that someone else do it, if they have the time. Nations and regions can always make it look nicer on their own. I can host the map on my server; or a series of maps if need be. That's not a problem.

So, what do you guys think?

good luck with

1) making a site take all that data

2) actually getting someone to fill all that in particularly putting in about 5 Russia’s

and lets not forget all the micromanagement particularly of MT countries suddenly vanishing as they turn FT

I say just leave it alone this game is beyond basic and I think it should stay that way

My server is perfectly capable of handling a single map; as are most servers out there. It's actually not that difficult; Praetonia was doing it - I dunno why he stopped.

You may certainly sign me up for such a noble undertaking. If you will see my factbook (link in my sig), you can get all the information on my geography you could need (note, though, that the information about me being on the Shattered Continent and bordering countries is no longer valid, as I have left my old region where those countries resided).

I'd love to have my map on there. Lemme dig up a link to it. Of course, it's probably a bit higher rez than most others, so integrating it might be a slight problem...

Many nations base themselves on the Real Wolrd, and you will have a funny-looking map with dozens if not hundreds or Europes and Africas... But yea, the idea is good. I'm just afraid it is impossible to get in reality. Anyways, great if you have the energy and determination to try it - you have my support.

Here, http://img530.imageshack.us/my.php?image=map43ap.jpg ,is my map.

Bah, I'll do the map myself.

You already have a map of Kraven and Concremo hosted onto your site, if or when you start to do this, you could just add it to the map, We would be at the most Northern point, but not quite the poles.

this though is a very good idea as it would give everyone an idea of where everyone is in relation to each other, something which lacks in RP's with ships and air forces turning up almost instantantly.

EDIT: There is also Numonica, and other Kraven "Assets"

I could say I'm Middle-Eastern, but the problem is, as someone said, there could be hundreds of "Middle-Easts".

Is there a size limit to what a nation can claim as "it's land" on your proposed NS Earth, Macabees?

Not at all; if you would like I could put you on a continent I could create for nations that don't really have a map.

Adding in my Homeislands might be fairly tricky, as I have always RPed myself as being Isolated Geographically to an extreme, for example it would take a 10 hour Concorde flight to get to the nearest non Novacom Landmass.

On second thought, the map is tricky. Hmm..well I got Imperial Armies in and Concremo and Kraven in...I'll have to figure the rest in tomorrow.

Okay, now, I don't technically claim any nation on earth. Or any of the 16 hundred thousand gabazillion earths out there. However, Sniper Country is geographically, roughly based off South Africa. I use a custom map of South Africa for my nation, and when there's a conflict, I make deployments as if I was deploying from the South Africa region. Eh, that's, okay, right?

Being able to zoom in a little more would be beyond worth, though honestly though Mac the effort is above and beyond the call of duty, much appreciated.

Concremo is Kraven now, so you may as well make that one Continent so people don't get confused, as Concremo was handed over to kraven in a Coupe, the Governor sold Concremo out to the Corporation

Yeah..That would be nice. Could you please put me in in a large-ish size landmass and I'll create my map and cities from there? All I really need is a Persian Gulf style sea exit..

Oh, and thanks a lot, man..This could really help the II Rping..

That's fine.

Yea...I have to work on zooming, the print of names, et cetera. I'm trying to think of an easy way to do this. This is going to be a huge effort so what would be best is if people who do have maps post them..it'll take me a while [perhaps weeks] to custom the maps so that they fit this world map, and then I have to put all nation names. I will not put city names or topography. This is a purely political map. [or will be]

As I said, a bit higher quality than most, I hope that won't be a problem. Oh, and sorry for the lack of a scale, will get one one there ASAP.

Macabees, you could try assigning every country a number and putting a key with the map? like 1 is Novacom, 2 is Kraven Corp, 3 is Concremo, etc.

Perhaps.

At some point, if there are too many nations, I will make an image map, and just color code it as regions, and then one can click on that region and it will 'zoom' in on a specific part of the map. In other words, the map would be divided by makeshift latitudes and longitudes dividing 'blocks' of the world, which would be listed as A1, A2, B1, B2, et cetera.

Also what would need to be noted (I'm not sure if anyone else has similar circumstances,) is whether the information on the map is OOC or not, in my case it would be (when I post up a map) since I rp my homeislands having Bermuda Triangle like storms frequently, hence why I employ jamming methods frequently having honed them in such a climate.

Also Mac will you be putting up Territorial Water Boundries as well?
The Macabees
31-12-2005, 04:09
Not really; I guess you can assume anything light blue to be territorial - but that was to denote shallower waters.

I can get the latest version of my region's map from Generic Empire once he gets online...or he can just post it here himself...meh.
