The New Inquisition [Intro]

The Society of Leopold
30-12-2005, 17:25
Brother Thomas walked down the well-lit corridors of the Society of Leopold's base in Munich. The steel-panelled walls were covered in images of the saints, and acts of famous Society of Leopold hunters of the past. He made his way to the holding cells, where one of the abominations before God was kept.

The Beast was in a frenzy, pathetically attempting to smash through the walls of the holding cell. Electric shocks caused it to jump back every time it touched a wall. Eventually, the beast composed itself. Brother Thomas watched, fascinated by the abomination. He coughed, and adressed the vampire:

"Abomination, before we kill you in God's name, you must tell us the names of all your contacts. All your hideouts. We need to know your havens, your princes, all the members of your damned community. You can tell us and be killed quickly, or you can stay silent... And see a beautiful sunrise."

"Go to hell!"

"You would know about Hell, wouldn't you, Ventrue? Thought you could pull the strings of humanity? No. Christ wills us to annihilate your kind, to eradicate the mistakes of Caine, and we will happily oblige. Now, tell me. Or I will open a window. There's blazing sunshine out there. It's an incredibly nice day."

"Hide in your Churches, scum, you won't last forever. Kindred will live to see your children's children turn to dust!"

"Wrong answer. I'll have to move on. The New Inquisition has a lot to do."

"New Inquisition?"

"Yes. Oh, I almost forgot..."

Brother Thomas pressed a switch. The window facing the holding cell, previously pitch black, turned clear as thin air. He left the room, the sounds of the vampire burning to death blessing his ears.

"Such wonderful sounds..."

Four hours later, Society of Leopold Regional HQ Briefing Room

Brother Thomas looked around the room. The council had been arguing for an hour, debating wether or not to inform world governments of the Society's intention to begin the New Inquisition.

Thomas stood.

"We have no choice. The world has been woefully ignorant of these abominations, playing right into the hands of those who have been influencing them for so long. The Ventrue and Lasombra have lost a lot of influence recently, but they still have their areas of influence. We must inform the world, or we could be mistaken for terrorists. Which technically, we could be classified as."

The council muttered their agreements.

Governments of the World:

For hundreds of years, our society has been beset on all sides by abominations before God. Things some would call supernatural and others might call 'undiscovered sciences'. My people call them heresy.
We, the Council of the Society of Leopold are announcing our investigations into tese beings are going into the agressive stage. We ask for your co-operation in allowing us to operate in your nation, or perhaps turning a blind eye to unexplained goings on. We realise you may not recognise the authority of the Roman Catholic Church, and we understand that, but we act in the best interests of all humankind.

Below the streets of the greatest of Chronosian cities; lurked warrens of festering nightmares; hideous monsters crawling through the sewage; negotiating the treacherous pathways; these Damned amongst the Damned, considered truly damned. This place was a refuge from the Camarilla; for these, the Nosferatu Antitribu; serving their greater; perhaps fouler master...They cralwed, till faded brick and stone turned to marble; till the waters ran clear; and the marble faded into gleaming bone...Lined with flesh. They shivered slightly, even in their feeble rags, as they came upon the temple; the sanctum....They bowed.

Upon the throne, gleaming and pulsing with life, he sat; blood fattening him; strengthening him as the walls throbbed and thrummed with life and flesh. He smiled slightly, rising; gleaming bone spurs piercing his arms; his elbows; his shoulders; decorating his beautifully teased and worked flesh.

"So; the Inquisition thinks to rear its ugly head; it has been sometime..."

"My Lord; they will not find us; not here; nor are the Kine wise to our ways."

"True enough; but the Lupines...Should they learn of this; it could be war. They could hunt us in the strongest city; if you believe the tales...Gehenna could loom; if not by ancients hand then by the hate-fuelled hand of the Children of Seth"

"We are the childre of Caine; we shall endure; fight them; crush them..."

"We have spent so long, growing alongside humanity; intertwined with our cattle; like a serpent about a branch; feeding on them, using them...This is how it has been. If they wish war; we shall hunt them in their citadels; we shall bring them to their knees;p we shall destroy the systems we are entwined in; and bring the world to boil like the crucible of the gods themselves..."

The Beast within was terrified. It sought escape, anywhere, anyhow. But there was none. Trapped in the alleyway where he had defiled the souls of so many humans. He turned to his three pursuers, and hissed.

"Oh, terrifying, terrifying. I think we all agree you terrify us."

"I think so, Brother Stanislaus. Scary."

"Indeed. What will we do, Brothers?"

At the word 'brothers', the third Priest hurled a wooden stake at the chest of the Gangrel vampire. It screamed, and fell to the ground, looking at the hunters, terrified.

"Tell everything you know and we will make this easy."

It spat blood, mouthing a word.

"C..C..Chr.."

"Croatia?"

The look on it's face changed, and it nodded.

"Good Beast."

A swift blow to the neck, and the vampire crumbled into nothingness.

"This had to have been a rearguard. It was too easy."

"I agree, Brother Stanislaus. But at least we got a location out of it."

"We hope."
