It was really, incredibly hard for the Imperium to not launch an outright attack against Doomingsland interests in what was known by the Joint Strategic Command as the Colonial Region. After all, it was well known that the Imperium downright hated Doomingsland and would like nothing more than to see it burn, whether by its own hand or someone else's. However, that desire was brough short by two factors; such an assault would require a build-up that Doomie military commanders would see from a mile away and that the Imperium only had the most basic grasp of the local political scene.

Instead, it was decided that a probe of Doomie defenses was in order. When the Imperial Navy drew the short straw, Fleet Admiral de Ruyter, commander of the 6th Home Fleet stationed at Tryne Naval Base, was reported to have been, "You have got to be fucking kidding me! You want me to send a single carrier, a battlecruiser, and four cruisers near over 600 Macabeean and God knows how many Doomie ships, just to test their reaction?! The imbeciles think that God favours them and whispers tactics into their ears, who knows if they won't decide God wills the destruction of the 'heathen' task group?"

Of course, the response quickly returned from JCS was along the lines of, "Then they'll find themselves at war with the Imperium. Carry out your orders." Or so the rumor went.

At any rate, HIMS Camulos set sail with her consorts on the same day that Admiral de Ruyter cut the orders, a minor miracle helped by the fact that personnel were already aboard ship for a patrol the ship was scheduled to partake in the next day. It was simply a matter of detaching the flagship from the patrol group and attaching it to the probe group. It would take the group a better part of four days to reach the operation area just east, and well outside of the territorial waters, of the main Macabeean colony. At that point all kinds of probes would begin to guage how the Doomies would respond.

[Erm, that depends, is Doom around? And there's nothing to roleplay right now, nothing of mine is even remotely in the same area as yours, they just got underway.]

Flag Captain van de Witte reviewed the latest updates on the board and the nodded to herself, "Tactical, set Condition One across the squadron, if you please."

"Yes, ma'am," answered the Commander in charge of the Captain's tactical division.

All across the Camulos and the escorting ships, a voice ordered, "Action alert! Action alert! All hands man your battle stations!" After being repeated three times, the order was followed by claxons.

On the bridge of the carrier, the ATC was issuing directions, "Eagle 1-6, taxi to Catapults 2 and 3. Wind's at 42 knots right into your nose, you are go for launch. Fury 1-1, taxi into position behind Eagle 1-6. Argus 1, taxi to Catapult 1 and standby for launch. CPO, call the shots."

Red-vested men saluted the two interceptors, known as Eagle 1-6, which the pilots returned to acknowledge their readiness, and Catapult Petty Officers brough their hands into a sweeping arc which ended up pointing towards the end of the deck while they kneeled. Not two seconds later the wings of the fighters swept barely over the heads of the two men and the EM catapults accelerated the F-125H interceptors into the blue sky.

With that accomplished, other red-vests charged with directing taxiing aircraft brought the waiting Seafury fighters towards the catapults and still more red-vests hooked the front tire of the fighters to their catapults while the blast walls raised from the deck. The same process was repeated all over again, except this time with the E-14 Argus AWACS launching as well.

The Argus formed up with the two F-109Ds and began heading generally south-west, splitting perfectly the two Macabeean land masses but not making any moves towards either. With the various stealth measures, including a Yehuti-esque visual camo scheme and passive RCSR coupled with total EMCOM, they were very hard targets for any sensors. Coupled with the fact that they were in close formation with the AWACS, they practically disappeared like so much background clutter, at least so far as the extremely powerful APAR-12D radars of the Alexander I Larsen class CGNs of the squadron were concerned. Now it was only a matter of whether or not the Macabeean shore radars would be able to detect all three aircraft or just the AWACS, and how they would subsequently react. Assuming the Macabeeans made no overtly hostile moves, the small flight would continue on to test the Doomies. If not, things had the potential to become ugly very quickly.

OOC:Yes, Mac has my permission to RP my fleet, since we both decided that we would integrate our naval forces in the region to allow for better effeciency. I'll try to get a post up soon, but no promises...you kinda caught me at a really busy time...
