IDF MOBILIZES RESERVES

(JERUSALEM AP) The Israeli government announced today that it was mobilizing the entire reserve force due to an emergency situation. The Israeli military has an active force of 50,000,000 men across all 5 branches and an additional 75,000,000 in the reserve forces.

The liberal minority Labor Party voiced concerns about the callups after top secret meetings with members from the ruling conservative majority Likud Party and a seperate meeting with King Ari Ben David. They eventually said that they had consented to the Likud's decision.

The call-ups weren't a total surprise as Islamic Terrorism had increased in its intensity and frequency over the past few years after Israel annexed the West Bank and Gaza Strip. While Palestinians were offered full citizenship and rights, they rejected it opting to live in Islamic nations like Jordan, Egypt, and Syria, Hopes for a peaceful MidEast fell as Israel saw a wave of new terrorist attacks.

Some Israelis were concerned with the scope of the call-ups. Older citizens said it reminded them of times like the 1973 War when the entire military was called upon to defend the tiny Jewish state from an Arab attack.

While nothing is certainly clear, speculation is that Israel will be dealing with those who it deems responsible for terrorist attacks. The latest occured just 48 hours ago when terrorists in Egypt launched mortars at the resort town of Elath near the Red Sea. Over a dozen tourists were killed.

OOC: I realize many nations claim Egypt. I just am trying to get the attention of at least 1 of them for an upcoming RP.

Many nations RP with armies greater than 150,000,000 active plus 100,000,000 more reserves. IDF is not a socialist state. Outside of education and police, there are no other expenses on the budget so everything else goes to make a large military. Israel historically has a large military in comparison to its population.

OOC: Yeah, about 2/3 of my men are in logistic roles. They are supply Corps, engineers, medical, command and HQ, mechanics, intel, NBC defense and decontamination teams (you never know when an enemy might go nuts, and other support personnel that keep an army going. My division structure is similar to that of the US where only 1/3 are front line shooters in the army. The percentage gets even smaller when you look at the Air Force.

I should've clarified this was total personnel not just combat personnel.. I probably have 25,000,000 actual front line combat personnel on active and about 25,000,000 in reserve.

OOC: Yeah, and I RP with Israel who historically has 15% of their population mobilized for war. In my specific case, my nation couldn't managed with 15% of the populace fighting. I would cap mine at 5%. I have less than that right now so I do have room in my huge military budget to pay for expansion of my militay should I need it.

OOC: It looks like none of the Egypts are going to respond. Maybe you should arrange an anti-terrorism rp specifically before hand or look at something someone else is rping and respond. I don't want an rp to not happen just because no one who happened to have a specific IRL land claim was interested.

OOC: There is no difference. IDF is the Israeli Democratic Federation. Even with our King, we still have an elected parliament. We are really a Constitutional Monarchy. Sort of like England over 100 years ago. IDF is Israel.

Well, all NS populations get like that after awhile. It's how the webgame is designed.

The problem is.. if you had 3 billion people in Israel.. they'd be standing shoulder-to-shoulder.

OOC: I do play it as a fictional world. I play IDF as a fictional version of Israel. The worldwide NS population is in the trillions so we explain it away by saying Earth is bigger than Jupiter.
