The rise of Topal (MT, open, IC)

The End of an Era
Barely months have passed since the nation of Frozopia has collapsed. Facing a losing war, maybe a war fought over nothing, millions of its citizens were killed by blind enemy bombings. Eventually the large nuclear reactor in the centre of the country was blown up in a tremendous bombing raid. Nuclear material was hurled in all directions across mainland Frozopia and all its cities. The people suffered once again.

The Wastelands
And as the enemy cried victory, Frozopia was forgotten, becoming a Frozen toxic wasteland occupied by small villages of strange and hard people. Already they begin to forget the technology of the modern age, and with no technology they fall on their ancestors ways hunting the few remaining fish and other creatures that occupy the sea's and lands. After all their is no electricity, and much of the twenty first century technology was lost during the bombings. Most of these 'new people' live in igloo's or the odd remains of buildings. There is vicious fighting for any technology on hand, especially weapons, as small factions are banded together to dominate the waste lands.

The Rise of Topal
But another side of Frozopia has formed. Off the very southern tip of Frozopia is Ironia island. Although heavily bombed during the war, it was untouched by any of the nuclear fallout. Better yet its geographical position makes it far nearer the equator, and instead made up of lush green forrests. It is here where Ralph, the last survivor of the Frozopian royal family fled. Here a new nation would be formed in the ruins of the Ironia city and its surroundings, and Ralph would lead it. After all the island had its own power station, albeit heavily damaged but repairable. And it is here the remains of the Frozopian Royal guard ruled with a iron fist, suppresing any opposition to the young leader.

But they would be Frozopia no more. Now they were the nation of Topal. And they began to build a nation. Within time contact with the outside world would begin, and who knows, maybe revenge........

Ie: Telegrams asking for trade/diplomatic contact, ect.

OOC: Perhaps adding something to the tune of how we should RP in this thing might help too. Maybe this 'Ralph' guy wants to enlist help to reclaim the rest of his lands. If that's the case, then you might have an RP. Be sure to list the levels of radiation present, what we might expect, etc. so those joining would know what to pack.

It looks to me like everyone else interprets this thing as an introduction and less of an actual roleplay.

OOC: True, although the real reason there was no response was the lack of people looking at the thread. Ill post a general request here.

IC:

All nations

The people of Topal exstend the hand of friendship. We are a young and growing nation, open to new idea's and new friendships. We simply request loans of any size to help build our economy. You may remember the nationalistic idea's of Frozopia, a nation from which we came from. Well they are gone, as are the minds who they came from. Now we seek peace only.

There are desperate issue's on our island. Firstly the power supply. We have lost a great many of our specialised workers who ran and maintained the power stations on the island. Now they lie dormant, scarred by heavy enemy fire. Any assistance in training a new workforce who could cope with this would be welcome. Other manual workers would also be welcome.

Housing is another issue. Many of our people's live in shabby living spaces, old damaged flats and the like. These are often dangerous and uncomfortable. Winter is taking its toll on the old and young. Although we are already working towards new houses and repairing the old, there are not enough trained in this area to make quick progress.

We also would like to begin trade agreements. Soon we will make some expeditions into the less poisoned parts of what was once Frozopia. There are oil and iron supplies we are willing to trade, and there is plenty of surplus timber on our own land much of which miraculously survived the bombing. Of course obtaining these resources will require a trained workforce, but that will come in time, hopefully with your assistance.

Yours faithfully
Roland, leader of Topal.

Raulph smiled. They didn't need to know who the true leader was. Yet.

OOC:Frozopia? Is that you? :Pokes: Anyways, I dont recall us nuking you into oblivion... you just stopped posting and were eventually deleted... so we assumed your king and company fled, the remnants of your armed forces surrendered, and we occupied your country.

Official Diplomatic Communique

Speaking on behalf of the Fell, leader of Helfaer, I offer the assistance of our nation. However, these resuce efforts must be carefully co-ordinated, and so to kill two birds with one stone, I suggest that we hold a conference between our nations to discuss not only the rebuilding of your nation but also establish diplomatic relations. If you are willing, we would like to hold this conference as soon as possible, in either nation.

In the meantime, we would like to back up our words with action. We can send in two transport ships of peacekeeping forces and disaster relief workers, as well as required machinery and supplies. Although this will only be a short-term solution, they will be able to erect temporary shelters and give out supplies, as well as helping to keep law and order in this difficult times.

OOC: yep its me. Let just say.....u never occupied my country. Besides u were always targeting my nuclear generator, after all u did napalm the whole area and shell it and laser it and pretty much wipe me out. So this is what happened. Btw sorry about fizzling out, my internet broke 4 about a month and then my country was erased.

IC:

To Helfaer

I agree a conference is needed in order to estabilish diplomatic relations. But instead of it being a meeting between us 2 nations, all nations willing to assist Topal should be invited to meet in Topal. Do you not agree?

The two transport ships would be welcome. Many of our population are forced to live in the forrests, a dangerous place at the best of times. The wildlife in Topal is not exactly....normal.

We look forward to any further contact with you.

A red envelope bearing the corporate logo of Red Dawn International arrives via a courier, addressed to Mr. Roland...

"Dear Mr. Roland,

We at Red Dawn International have little in the way of an aide program. As a Private Military Corporation, our interests have always been vested in offensive and defensive applications. While our services require payment, we will send a delegate to any sort of meeting you propose for posterity and reinforce possible contract opportunities in the future. As a newly developing nation, you may feel vulnerable to outside incursion. Our security forces are drawn from the best former military and law enforcement professionals worldwide, and are undoubtedly some of the most expeirenced in the buisness. Our courier will remain on-site to relay your response via satellite phone.

Best Wishes,

General Jeffory J. Garand, USMC (Ret.)
President and CEO

Reading the red envelope, Roland as we was now known thought threw his options. He could use a mercenary force, god knows his Royal guard, all 10,000 of them were stretched. Of course training of a new armed force was underway, but that would take alot of time, and Topal barely had the equipment for them. Worse Roland distrusted the royal guard. There were more dangerous murmerings, and when Roland suggested changing the name and banner of the Royal guard, he was met with a flat refusal. They had pride, pride that was shaken in the war and they would not forgo their roots, unlike the once Prince.

There was wealth in Frozopia, if you knew where to go and Roland knew exactly where to go. The ruins of Hatak city. The least damaged city in Frozopia, but also the area furthest from the nuclear blast. Radiation levels by now maybe fractionally above background, but that was nothing. It was based on the southwest coast line, a land of green plains. In the city there was a large warehouse practically bursting with arms of all kinds hidden in an underground bunker that hopefully protected it from the bombing raids and protects it from scavengers. Roland needed this.

This was the one warehouse Roland knew of. After all, when he was a prince he was hardly expected to know the strategic position of military centre's. He only knew this one because it is where the current Royal guard had been estabilished. So Roland hoped to find another important object. It was a small disk hidden in an old military base. Richard, head of the Royal guard, spoke of it. On it were the recorded positionings of all of Frozopia's military base's and arm deployments. It also contained plans of the construction of many of Frozopia's technological advance's, including the shield system that protected Frozopia's capital for so long. Roland needed this disk.

So the message went out:

Dear General Jeffory J. Garand

We seek your assistance in an area not of defense, but to help reclaim important arms stores and information within the wastelands of Frozopia. We have lost much, but if we were to reclaim at least small fraction of it, there is hope for the people of Topal. We are dangerously vunerable, our armed forces are stretched to say the least and we have old enemies in the world.

Please send someone to the Topal landing strip, who we can brief on the mission.

Thank you

Roland, Leader of Topal.

Walter Kezfonhagen slowly read over the plea that was sent from the nation of Topal. Walter deeply sympathized with the people of Topal mainly because he had grown up in an extremely poor part of Kyleslavia. An extended hand of friendship to the people of Topal would not only improve relations with other nations but also Kyleslavia’s image in the world. He didn’t hesitate to write a quick response.

FROM THE OFFICES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

Dear Mr.Roland

The nation of Kyleslavia sympathizes with you during these hard times that your nation is going through. After verification from the President, I request that we meet in a conference of some sort to discuss sending aid to your nation. Kyleslavia is looking into helping you rebuild infrastructure. We will be willing to send medics, workers, and other personnel to your nation. We will also be willing to send an agreed amount of money. I hope we can meet soon so we can start rebuilding quickly.

Sincerely,
Walter Kezfogen

To Walter Kezfogen

Thank you for assistance in these trying times. We will be hosting a conference in a few weeks in Topal. Feel free to fly in your representative's as soon as you wish to the one usable landing strip in the centre of Topal. Please be aware accomodation may not be comfortable, and you should bring your own staff.

Roland, Leader of Topal.

To all nations

Any nations willing to assist Topal are recommended to send a representative to the conference taking place in Topal two weeks from now. We have several area's you may assist us with, from rebuilding our infrastructure to planning a military operation into the waste lands once known as Frozopia. Please be aware accomodation may not be comfortable due to the poor housing in Topal, and you should bring your own staff.

Thank you

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

Dear Mr. Roland,

From the description that you have given of Topal, I suggest that we hold the conference in another nation. Our representative's health and security is a top priority. Re-locating the meeting would be a wise choice until we can fully investigate the condition of Topal.

Sincerely,
Walter Kezfogen

Dear Walter Kezfogen
Your concerns have been acknowledged, so instead we have taken steps to provide a safe and comfortable stay for foreign dignitaries. Within 2 months the old Ironian island palace will be fully repaired and renevated. It seems it was not quite so damaged as I first thought, so much work has been put into it by our few remaining manual workers. The employment provided by the building works has benefited our people just as much as the talks being held there will. A large building with over 500 rooms, of which 140 will be fully furnished and free for foreign dignitaries and their staff, should provide a comfortable stay for everyone.

Yours faithfully,
Roland, leader of Topal.

To all nations.

Plans for the 'Rebuild Topal' conference have been changed. After concerns over health and safety, the conference date has been pushed forward by two months so that it can be held in the old Ironian Island palace which is going under repairs. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Yours faithfully,
Roland, leader of Topal.

The courier, a man clad in gunmetal-gray BDU's and a black tactical vest with a sidearm holstered on his thigh, pulled a satellite phone from a pocket on his vest and dialed a quick sequence of numbers...

"General Garand please... Thanks Michelle... Sir! The Frozopian government has accepted our offer. They want a small force deployed to recapture an arms depot in the wasteland area... Thank you sir..."

Approaching Mr. Roland, the courier introduces himself...

"Sir, my name is Sergeant David Townes, representing General Garand of Red Dawn International. The general has accepted your proposed operation, and a small special operations force is being readied as we speak. If you will authorize it, a larger security force will be deployed to the area to safeguard it from future incursion."

Winter sunlight streamed over the snow that now covered the Ash Desert, digging its ghostly fingers into the city that sat like an inkblot in the middle of a fresh page. The dark spires of the city stood out against the skyline like a phalanx of spears. And in the centre of the city, like a vast spider lurking in its web, sat the Fell's palace. Half fortress, half mansion, it dominated not only the grounds but also the city blocks around it.

And on the northern side of the palace curtains fluttered as a young woman drew them open and stared out over the city to the snowfields. The pale sunlight caught her face and she stood entranced for a moment, her blue eyes suddenly reflecting its light. Then she blinked sleepily and stepped back. She shook her head slowly trying to awaken herself in the cold air. As she did so her blond hair cascaded to her waist. Breathing softly in the dead silence of her room, she crossed back to her bed and rearranged the covers back to their customary neatness. There were servants to do it, of course, but she found that disorder in her room disrupted her.

Picking up a hairbrush from her nightstand she crossed to her table and stared into the mirror. Her reflection stared back at her, seeming desperate for her own approval. Disgusted at herself looking like a fawning weakling, she wiped the expression from her face and took another look. Light blue eyes stared back at her from a pale face that looked as if it had been carved from ivory. Her features were well-defined and noble-looking: Hitler would approve, she thought to herself with a sneer. Glancing down, she saw something on the tabletop. A neatly folded sheet of paper lay there, with her name written on it in her father's spidery script. How it had got there she had no idea, as she had not been disturbed in the night despite being a light sleeper, but then her father's servants could be uncomfortably stealthy. She picked up the letter, unfolded it, and read it.

Dearest Marissa,

I am leaving for a few months on business. I shall not be gone for more than three, but it presents us with something of a dilemma. In two months time there is a conference in the fledgling land of Topal. Recently there was a nuclear disaster there, and Lord Murabi suggested to their leaders that a meeting should be held to discuss how best to rebuild their nation.

I had intended to attend these talks myself, but I was called away unexpectedly. Your younger brother is also away on military training exercises in the Ash Desert, leaving only you or Sabia. I am entrusting you with the task of attending the conference. I have already picked you out an entourage of my most trusted servants- they will see that no harm comes to you.

By the time you arrive there should be several units of Helfaer peacekeepers in the area. Should you run into severe difficulties, and your entourage are unable to help for any reason, contact their leader, Commander Ther, and he may be able to help.

Finally, act civilly to your guests, put your argument well, and make sure to stay out of danger.

Marakh

So, her father was leaving her to fight his battles for him. Still, she would go to this conference. The mention of peacekeeping forces puzzled her, however. Her father had never been one for humanitarian operations. However, there was no time to ponder on that now. There were things to do. She strode across the carpet and out of the room, slamming the door shut behind her.

*******************************

Meanwhile, the two transport ships bore down on Torpal. Deep in their armoured shells were soldiers, armed to the teeth. They could justify it: Torpal was supposedly a dangerous land, and the peacekeeping forces would take no chances. After all, if they were constantly afraid of the dangers they would be less able to help the people. The boats were also packed with supplies and equipment: temporary shelters and food mainly, and vehicles: APCs, engineering vehicles, and the ever-present Behemoth Multi-Purpose Truck.

"Topal, this is Captain Antres, requesting permission to enter your waters and come to port."

ooc: Topal, check TGs.

OOC: Im currently embroiled in the NS world war guys, landing anything in Topal now maybe difficult. Its also been pacified since when I needed help. Frozopia's still a waste land untouched by a war (Topal is an island quite a distance from Frozopia, like the falklands and britain) but that will never change.

IC:

"What? They want to send aid now? A conference? A bit late!" Roared Roland. "The Comaticans are advancing further inland as we speak!"

"Sir. They could assist us by capturing some weapons from old Frozopia. Maybe they could drop paradrop them? Our conscripts are short of weapons, and theres still plenty of conscript rifles left in Frozopia." Spoke the assistant. "But you are right, conference is impossible."

"Ok. Send them a transmission that a conference is impossible due to the current conflict in Topal, but any weapon raids into Frozopia would be useful so long as they are willing to risk shipping it into Topal. We will pay them double for any such assistance."

"Yes sir."

"And now we wait....."

Sergeant Townes spoke up again...

"Sir, we also manufacture a vast array of firearms and would be willing to sell you as many as you need. We carry Heckler & Koch, Colt, Bushmaster, DPMS, FN Herstal, and several Russian items, albiet in smaller numbers than our more popular H&K, FN, and Colt lines. The C130 with the raiding party in also en route if you'd rather use your own stocks after we procure them for you."
