OOC: Here is a brief history of Gardere to make the conflict easier to understand:
Gardere was colonized by Cajuns and Creoles that felt oppressed in native Louisiana. They left during colonial times and brought slaves with them. Their slaves though initially called Negro they are now and have been for a while free and reffered to as Noir. There in no majority race in Gardere but the French are the largest group though they rarely consider themselves a single group, instead they are split into the larger Creole (whom at this point all virtually are French/Spanish mixed with blacks) and the Cajuns. The Creole dominate cities on the coast (east) while the Cajuns are strong in the country (especially in the west). The Noir is the second largest ethnic group it surpasses the Creole or Cajuns they are purely black descendants of slaves they are widespread through Gardere. The Whites are the next largest group mainly Italian and German they are Europeans of non-Creole and non-Cajun origin; they are concentrated in the rural north. The Mullatoes are mixed black and whites of non-Creole origin. The Africans are a significant immigrant group counted separately from the Noir. An immigrant Asian population is also present. there is also small, but influential Jewish and Mestizo populations.
The Creole dominated society from the nations founding After the Noir were freed they settled in the farmland and competed with Cajuns. The Whites worked in the cities until the Creoles granted the Noir equal rights the White Flight into the relatively unpopulated north happened. The Noir gradually moved into the cities. In southern cities Noir competed with Whites for jobs and the Creole soon showed favoritism to the Noir. The Noir in the north are oppressed by Whites. The Noir of west frequently beak out into street violence with Cajuns. This was lessened in recent years as the new constitution granted rights to all races. The new capitol of Jig City is majority Noir, but has significant populations of all races and virtually all the Asians live there. Their was still political conflict between the races. The Creole formed the Gardere Socialist Party that usually could get enough to support to form a minority government. The Noir usually vote Noir for the socialist NAS (Noir Advancement Society) which formed after the Socialist government assassinated several Noir leaders recently abandoned its armed wing. The Whites are split between the Conservative and Reform Parties , though liberals support the Socialists. The Africans support the ANC (African National Congress). The Cajuns were historically split between the Conservative, Socialist, and Reform Parties, but a new nationalist movement led to the formation of the conservative Cajun Alliance that called for secession of Cajun territories. They became the sole party of the Cajuns until the socialist Parti Acadien was formed by poor farmer turned wealthy entrepreneur, Jean Thibodeaux. They began to dominate the poor Cajun community. Thibodeaux advocated the Cajuns should have special rights in their territory and some autonomy, but not secede. Thibodeaux was able to convince the two parties to form the CNB (Cajun Nationalist Bloc) for federal elections.
It seemed that the Conservative-Reform alliance would form a minority government, but Thibodeaux formed an unlikely Cajun-Creole alliance and formed a weak minority government. He became frustrated by the weak government and resigned which allowed a moderate Conservative to take office. In the next election both the Socialist Party and the CNB. He formed a historic alliance with the NAS to form a majority government. He ran for president and easily made it into the run-off, the ANC endorsed a non-African candidate for the first time when they asked their members to vote for Thibodeaux instead of boycotting the election, due to the fact his opponent was a racist fascist Conservative. In his reelection the Socialists, CNB, NAS, ANC, and Reform Party all supported him. Recently the Conservatives first and then the Reform Party was seized by racists bordering on fascism. They merged to form the WPP (White People’s Party). Moderate non-racists formed the Patriotic Reform Party in response. The WPP also has a very powerful armed wing known as the White Knights of Gardere. List of government ministers:
Jean Thibodeaux, President (Mulatto/Cajun)
Leontene Herbert-West, Prime Minster (Cajun/Creole)
Darnell Louis, Minister of Welfare (Noir)
Phaedra Johnson, Minister of Education (Noir)
Nebo Mfume, Minister of Healthcare (African)
Morgan Grey, Minster of the Environment (Mestizo)
Doug Simpson, Minister of Transportation (White)
Johan Negelberg, Minister of Finance (Jewish)
Bishop Jacque, Minister of Spirituality (Creole)
Amy Li, Minister of Social Equality (Asian)
