New Archipelago Discovered
The NYCian battleship LaGuardia gleamed in the Pacific summer sun. A cooling wind wafted across the sea, which was as flat and calm as a puddle. In the distance, a small volcano loomed above the turquoise waves, spitting a small plume of gray smoke out of its mouth.
Yet aboard the ship, things were not as idyllic. The crew was bleary-eyed from two days of fighting a typhoon. They were now hundreds of miles off course, deep in the heart of the pacific. They stared in puzzlement at the volcano in front of them, and several lucious looking islands nearby. A slightly scruffy looking sailor of 20 approached the captain.
"Sir, I just don't understand it. There aint any islands here on the map we have, or the sattelite imagery in the ship's database!"
"It's just how the world works sailor. Places popping in and out of existance all the time. Whole civilizations being born, have sucess and dying in the space of months. Mountain chains become lakes and then freeze into icy wastes. The metaworld we live in is chaos."
The ship was now as close to the volcanic island as it could get. A small expedition was launced in a motor boat, while a survaillence drone lifted off from the deck, transmitting bird's eye views of what appeared to be a huge expanse of islands.
The data was encrypted and sent to the government back home. They started to plan how to harvest the rich bounty of this new land. Lucrative trade monopolies over the islanders' goods could be hand. But they needed to be defended. Other nations would be on their way before long.

"Sir, you might want to take a look at this!" Private Brendan Malse said as he burst into the colonel's quarters. "What is it, I was trying to sleep!" Col. Patric Davis asked. "Sir there is a battleship a few miles off coarse, what should we do?" The colonel swore under his breath before answering, "Cut all power expect for communications and basic life support. I'll go down to the Comm room and call Crowley. After that we cut power to the comm room as well." "Is that all sir?" "No, have the MPs on standby. tell the scouts to come in and cover their tracks. If anyone finds out about this bunker Crowley will have our heads."
OOC: It would be really great to get someone to rp the islanders. Other than that, feel free to join as yourself.
IC:The landing party stumbled back on the battleship, eagre to regain their sealegs. The islanders seemed friendly, and although not very advanced they seemed to have a love of art, music and cuisine. The leafy palms created a shady, paradisical cover for their village, which had well planned paved avenues and sturdy houses with glass windows and shell roofs. Wickedly fast looking canoes bobbed in the small cove the village faced.
The men manning the gatehouse were quite well armed with deadly looking bows and a few spare guns here and there. Prehaps they had salvaged them from a shipwreck, a common occurence that made even isolated island chains often able to hold their own militarily. The adventurers estimated the village the warriors were gaurding had about 8,000 souls inside, a large population center for a place covered in such forbiddingly dense jungle and dagerous shoals that prohibited all but small marine traffic. It was obvious why so many islanders chose to live there: the island was a veritable fortress. Even if a landing party was able to get across the shoals, which would be imposssible if one wanted to send enough men to defeat the well-equipped militia, anyone who fled to the forested volcano's slopes could hold out forever with small arms and a few supplies. Luckily for the sailors, such a doomed to fail attack was not in the agenda.
They had been successful in assesing the people and the island they lived on, but there were many more such places to be discovered. The captain wanted to press on to them, but some of the men had doubts. The villagers had been friendly, but agitated. In gestures, they seemed to suggest something new and bad had been spotted once or twice in the depths of the jungle. What could it be? Tigers? Elephants? Cannibals?
It was important to win the trust of the new folk to start a healthy trade relationship. The crew was growing excited at the thought of what the natives had to trade; small amounts of gold, gems and iron had been evident in the village. Surely they would be willing to part with some of it; after all, everything had a price, a price that softened if you had helped the seller in the past.
It was this liberal mix of humanitarianism and merchantilism that made N Y C not only rich but beloved of many nations around the world who had seen hard times, only to be helped out by N Y C and later become a steadfast trading partner of the Metropolitan Republic. Keeping this in mind, the captain ordered a garrison of 50 men to stay in the village and figure out what had been menacing the residents.
As the sun grew red and heavy in the sky, the battleship steamed a few minutes through the warm water to a treeless, unihabited sandy islet. Many of the crew disembarked and started a cheerful luaui. By all accounts, these newly discovered people seemed like good friends to have and, to the men who had met the beautiful girls in the village, a grand place to retire. They went to bed that night with visions of flowers, palm trees and waves dancing in their heads. Unfortunately, it would soon become evident that all was not well in their new eden.

Several people did various intellgeince work. Some we're going over the information of Centra-Spike with the issues in Xanadou, others we're watching the war on Terroism, and a few are looking at the N Y C's possible attempts to Annex islands in the south. A man asked to his co-worker "What do we do? The Prime Minister has shipped out along with the Defense Ministers, and this situation is growing."
"There we're planes to Annex the Islands for Kanami, now looks like someone is out to beat us to the job."
"Maybe we should contact the Vice Prime Minister, or the Attorney General."
"I don't think Koolridge want's to lose thoes Islands, call the VP."
VP Hitoshi Shoran enjoys a day off playing with his five children in their backyard pool. He plays Horse with his 10 year old sun, trying to playfully fling him off his back and into the water. His wife called out "Hitoshi, phone call!"
He jumped out of the pool. "Yes? What? Right, uh-hu, uh-hu, okay okay, I'll come right over.(Hangs up) Honey, there is an issue. "
"An Issue?"
"Government Secutiry Issue. The Prime Minsiter is at a Summit meeting, and I have to handle this situation. "
"Oh."
"I guess this is what you get for marrying a politican."
"Go on, I'll save some dinner for you."
About 20 Minutes later he rushes into the KCIA and to the room. "Whats up?"
"Nothing new now, we'll wait and see."
"We we're going to maybe claim thoes islands for Kanami, maybe we still can get on it. Deploy The K.S.S. Yasashii see if we can scare them away
ooc: Just to be clear, my country is more of a trading state. We might set up outpost, but we're not in to annexing (large) swaths of land. Though prehaps the stray island here and there...;)
IC: The LaGuardia hailed the Kanamian ship over the radio a few minutes after it became visible. N Y C's government and people did not maintain strong ties or animosity to the country, and so was rather neutral to them.
Ahoy Kanamian sailors. This is the N.S.S LaGuardia. What brings you here?

The Capitan of the Yasashii was suprised, "Did they just give us a freindly greating?" They wern't really sure of the motives about a nation.
"Ahoy, this is Capt. Garrison of K.S.S. Yasashii we wish to speak with the people in charge.
Landmass confirmed, sir. However the islands are not in our navigational charts.
What?
Yes, sir, it looks as if we have a brand new archipelago.
Bloody hell… I hate it when these things just pop up. Alright, make a note in the log and transmit the coordinates to the Royal Navy and let ‘em know we’re going to make landfall at one of these rocks.
Aye, captain.
The schooner Alice Marie had departed Artega on a luxury cruise of the United Kingdom’s Pacific holdings, and her skipper had kept in touch with several of his old shipmates from his days in the Royal Navy – and they were on the first mate’s contact list. As the sleek white vessel glided into a wide harbour the passengers stumbled topside to see the pristine wild flora and after receiving the okay from his parents an adventuresome teenager jumped into the sparkling clear water.
The Admiralty, Breningrad, Republic of West Oceania
Far from the new archipelago, the headquarters for the Royal Navy seemed massive and wholly impressive despite its antiquated complex and hyper-cramped offices. Lieutenant Carlton Barry ripped a fresh communication from his fax machine and scanned the brief contents from the Office of Oceanic Cartography that outlined the new, unclaimed islands. Quickly picking up his phone he pressed the number for his superior, Sir, we’ve got some new islands out in the Pacific.
Unnamed Island, Pacific Ocean
There ain’t a bloody soul on this volcanic rock. Clive Mayfield descended from large landowners in the country’s past and so had been the first passenger off the schooner. In his fifties and overweight from a life of extravagant eating habits, Mayfield waddled through the soft white sand to the tree line where ferns and palms blocked access to the interior of the virgin island. But, as he turned around he felt a sharp pain in his feet, having taken off his luxury loafers to avoid damaging them with the salt water. Bending his massive frame down towards the sand, he found a small arrowhead slightly embedded in his foot as casually as a broken shell would be. Picking it up between his index and middle fingers with his thumb, he felt the cool volcanic glass and noticed the small marks indicative of hammering and chiseling. At the snap of a branch, Mayfield closed his hand around the artifact and scampered back to the schooner, unaware of the eyes that had been observing him from the shade to his left.

In the bunker the last of the scouts were arriving. "Sir, we have reports of another ship nearing the islands," Lt. Col. Markus Haerum reported. "Dang it. Call the Admiral again, tell him this is of top urgency. He'll kill us if they don't leave," the Col. said dispairingly. "Excuse me sir?" Haerum asked. If we let them take the base, he kills us, if we have to destroy the seismic generator he kills us. We can only survive if they leave."
OOC:We really need some natives. Actually, we could have several people playing groups on different islands
IC: The Metropolitan Republic's navy had never been quite so busy before. Having had a slight headstart, settlement expeditions arrived a few days before the others. Several small but resouce-rich looking islands had been landed on, and there were now several thousand N Y Cians spread out along the archipelago. Luckily, due to its sheer size, not all the islands were inhabited before they arrived. The towns they were building were not ready yet, so they slept in tents behind a stockade. In the future though, they envisioned a bright group of ports, like a strand of pearls, dotting these newfound lands that arched across the Pacific. For the moment though, they were quite vunerable.
Great wealth would flow back home, and there was no shortage in the arrrivals every day who were intrigued by this up-and-coming area where even a mere shiphand had the chance to become a wealthy merchant once the trade network was up and running in full force, which would be in a matter of weeks.
Despite the wild pace of settlement, the N Y Cans did not forget the islanders they had sworn alligence to; or the hostile people from other lands who had no such deal, and could become a threat to native and settler alike. N Y C sent out requests of alligence with many of the newcomers, and the government had no doubt many others were doing the same. Slowly, the islands' settlers were forming powerblocks, one of which centered on N Y C and their island friends. It seemed highly possible the region would soon be a powderkeg. A beautiful, unsuspecting one, but a powderkeg nevertheless.

"Sir... I understand that but...Sir! TTat risks the mission's security... Admiral!...Yes, sir" The Col. hung up the phone. He turned to Haerum, "That man is a damnned fool. Turn on the generator! Have the scouts set up patrols. Have some of the MPs set up two small guard towers outside each of the two exits. Naval 3 is on it's way." Haerum complied and within the hour there were five groups of three patroling hte area and the beginnings of makeshift guard towers were near the doors to the bunkers.
Meanwhile in the mid Pacific. "Sir yes Sir!" Rear Admiral Ivan Fox said into the phon. "Get the engines online!" He yelled, "We're moving out!" "Sir," his aid began, "Where are we going? What has happened?" "We're going to help a freind, Andre. We're going to the earthen bunker, the set of islands on which it resides has been found by other nations. People are moving to the islands, people who mat learn of the experiment."

T’kra, t’kra, su sheshi ambiata
Ti-kash Analu bowed before his father and promptly exited the thatch covered circular hut. In Western eyes, Analu was in his early twenties – though he had never seen a Westerner. Standing shy of two meters, darkly tanned and with white and black marking on his bare chest, arms, face, and legs, Analu maintained the order of his pruktat, or village, as what Westerners would call the general of the village’s army. Of course, Analu’s pruktat housed nearly five thousand individuals in small huts and caves carved into the side of the volcanic mountain that dominated the island he knew as Ti-abree, one of the separate political entities within the archipelago that was dominated by friendly competition and cooperation between the various tribes and nations.
Analu’s nation occupied an island of diverse resources, from strong and sturdy trees to soft, succulent meat-supplying fauna, to even a crisp and clean artesian well that provided Ti-abree with a small running stream from which the whole village drank and cleaned their belongings and food. This preoccupation with the land, however, had left Ti-abree behind in the development of water-craft and so they were content to operate small catamaran canoes from tree-trunks and every so often, when enough animal hides could be collected from their hunts, a trimaran sailing vessel that could carry their wares to the other nations for trade.
Yet, something had disturbed Analu this bright, clean morning. While scouting the beach for any nesting sea turtles – which provided a delicacy amongst the nation’s upper class – he had seen a very large sailing vessel unlike anything he had seen from any other nation. And as he and his friends had sat in the bushes, they watched oddly dressed strangers, strangers of a different skin, climb off and scamper about doing nothing productive but instead spoiling the chance for Analu to hunt a turtle for dinner. He had then returned to his father, elected leader of the village, who had all-but dismissed his son. Yes, yes, I see my son, he had finally muttered in the familiar soft and soothing tones of the village’s eldest. But Analu was undeterred and had set out, sneaking amongst the familiar paths back to the beach, so he could keep an eye on the strange things that had landed not long ago.
The assorted villages quickly prepared for the attack the garrison in the native village (OOC: we need it named) had warned them all about. GAtes were closed, guns loaded and any small ships they might have had at dock comandeered in case an evacuation to the provincial capital, Hudson, itself under construction. The LaGuardia, which had stayed on to supervise the settlement effort, was an hour away, and began speeding back to the native village.
Meanwhile, the garrison in the native village also prepared. They WOULD defend their new friends if need be. Only time would tell the result. On the outskirts of the village, the rustling grew more frequent.

Hannah Alcazor stood shivering in the doorway of her house. She was only 35, but was already a widow. She had married a rich man who died in the war with Buben. That was almost over a decade ago, but the pain had ebbed only slightly.
When she heard about her country's new settlement program in the Pacific, she jumped at the chance. She had more than enough money to live someplace more tamed and closer to home. But she wanted none of that. She was a writer, and above all a romantic. She loved the idea of spending the rest of her years in her small house by the sea, the sound of pen scratching paper filling the house, banishing the specter of her dead love.
Now, however, those carefullly thought-out plans seemed to be in danger. The town of Hudson, and its 3,000 people, were under lockdown. The wooden palisades that barricaded the small peninsula the town was on was being hastily bolstered with more stakes and a small ditch. Out in the harbor, 4 merchant ships along with a coast guard patrol boat (http://www.hazegray.org/worldnav/usa/images/wpb1331.jpg) nervously circled around. They constituted the town's best and first line of defense if the LaGuardia could not arrive in time.
From a nearby house, a baby's cry reached Hannah, still standing in her doorway. An unusually cool wind blew off the Pacific, piercing the thin cotton dress she wore. Closing the door, Hannah served herself tea, the glass rattling in her shakey hands.
Feeling frozen in the middle of the Pacific. I must be nervous, she thought laughingly. Keeping her gaze locked on the window, and the ocean beyond it, she poured some brandy into her teacup. She'd need the foolhardy determination of a drunkard if the worst came to pass.

Halas Scrambled over the black rocks. Peering out into the bay he noticed a boat docked not far from the cliffs. "Thena...Thena!" He shouted back into the woods behind the Headland. Bushes rustled, and a young girl, of only 16 appeared. She wore a brown cloak, and held in her right hand an oak longbow. Halas Stood, but his robes fell to the ground in the wind, the barrel of his musket peered over his shoulder. Halas was also 16, and married to Thena, a young warrior girl, who had kept with the ancient ways of bow and arrows, rather than move onto the new technologies of guns.
"Thena" Halas said, his breath was heavy "The Smoke from the Horizon, it was not a forest fire, no, it was outsiders"
Thena Looked puzzled and turned to go back into the woods
"No Thena, look into the bay. A ship. Far more powerful than our wooden Assault ships." Spoke Halas, he was still facing out into the bay
Thena stepped forward and held up a pair of Binoculars.
"What is this you use?" Questioned Halas
"I found them in the Jungle yesterday, they help me see further then usual, look" She held them to Halas, and he wearily peered through.
He looked onto the boat and saw one of the armed guards.
"They're armed to the teeth with weaponry. Thena, we must prepare to defend our homeland, they seem to be far in advance to us, and so they must be here to wipe us out" Halas Said in rage, he pulled his gun from his back and aimed it at the boat below, Thena jumped forward and dragged him to the floor, the gun shot into the air, and the sound echoed around the bay.
"Halas, if you are planning on making an attack, then surprise is your best chance of victory" she whispered in his ear as he tried to break loose from her grip.
Thena Stood up and stealthily slid abck into the darkness of the Jungle. The Sun began to sink on the horizon. Halas gace one final glare to the Boats before he pulled on his hood and followed Thena into the Jungle.

"Sir," Hearum said to the Col., "Unidentified units have taken up position in the jungle on island beta. They may be readying for an assult on the natives." "You said island beta? Those natives will do anything to survive. They may sell us out in order to save them selves. Damn it. Have Black Berets platoons one and two intercept the newcomers. We can't have the security of the mission be compromised," Col. Davis declared. Hearum thought outloud, "Wouldn't us attacking them show our presence and compromise security as well?" "Yes but what does it matter if the only people who know of our presence are either dead or on our side? Fire up the comm jammer. I don't want these newcomers able to report us."
Halas and Thena ran through the dense Jungle, Branches smacked against Halas' face but he ran on, Thena ducked and dodged as she always did, avoiding any Injury, Whera Halas adopted more of a barge through the Jungle Strategy. Night had fallen when they arrived at the camp. Halas and Thena were Members of the Zowi Tribe, And they were unfortunate enough to have been pushed by other Natives into the Wood Tiger (or Hunti in their speak) Hunting Zone. Adopting a life on the ground was impossible, as everynight the Hunti would come out in their hundreds. The Small Zowi Tribe was no match for them, and so they lived life in the treetops, in a string of Treehouses, connected by Wooden Walkways, and Swing-vines. There was only one way up. A secret Staircase carved into the Greatest tree, the wooden door pulled back to reveal a winding staircase inside the tree. At the top, they came to the Gatehouse, gaurded by 3 Armed Zowi. They wore Robes of Black, but in times of peace their hoods were down. Halas and Thena went through the gatehouse and across the bridge to their home.
"Halas please, i beg you not to go to battle, you won't return, let me go and visit the Outsiders, im sure they will be reasonable enough to let us have our lands" Spoke Thena Softly
"And what if you go, and they shoot you? I will wait here for my wife to not return. If these Outsiders want our Lands, and our peoples as slaves, then i say let me try to take us. I know this Island better than any of their new Technology. I know the location of every hideout, trap and Hunting Zone, this they do not know." Laughed Halas. He Pulled on his Leather Armour and re-placed his Black Robe. "I will return, with the bounty of war"
And with that Halas stepped out of the hut, and closed the door behind him. Thena slipped out of her Robes and into bed. There she sank into a restless sleep.
Halas sounded three Knocks on the Door, before he pushed it open. On a great Oak chair sat his Father, and Leader of the Zowi- Tuwanga. Musicians played the harp in the corner as Tuwanaga laughed merrily with his friends.
"What is it now Halas? Another Deer enter our Land?" Laughed Tuwanga
"Outsiders father, they have come to take out land, steal our women and kill the men" Said Halas Sharply. The Music Stopped. as did the Talking. the Hut fell silent, and Tuwanga stood.
"How do you know this Halas?" He asked
Halas stood silent for a minute. He knew his father would not agree to fight if he told him the truth. "Thena and I were out in the Jungle. a Branch next to us snapped, and one of the outsiders hit Thena with his gun, he pointed it at her, but i killed him before he could fire."
Tuwangas face turned white at the prospect of an invasion.
"If we sit here and wait, they will use their advanced technologies to kill us all without us even representing a threat" Shouted Halas
"The Zowi way of life must be Defended. If it is by a course of War that our peoples survive then so be it. When the Hunti have finished their Scavenge, Let us march to the Black road. And hope we can intercept these outsiders whilst they March." Tuwanga stood for a second in Silence "For the First time in 23 years, the Zowi are going to War!"
Halas Bowed to His father, and Tuwanga turned to the man at his side. "Get me 6 barrels of Gunpowder, if we time it right, we can roll them into the road as the Outsiders March, then we will give them a warm Welcome."
Halas Ran outside, and clambered up a Ladder, he sat in a high chair and blew into the Horn, it sounded throughout the Jungle, it started with a deep tone, but rose into a lighter tone at the end. The Zowi Call to Arms. Thena sat up in her bed, she clenched the cover to her body and prayed for Halas' Safety.

OOC: You are already better than I am. Of coarse that is pretty easy to be.
(OOC: Heck Paster for someone who is new at RPing you are really good.)
IC: In the small Village, night is falling. Inside the dimly litted hut, Serfina bathes in a small wodden tub, filled with water. She sighs, she is so worried about YuYu. He's gone off to fight. She's loved nobody but him. She pours water down on her self to get the grusome images of him dying out of her mind. She musent think like that. "He'll come back. He'll come back." She shakes her long black hair, and exits the tub. She puts on some night clothes, and walks out side. The stars are comming out, and the sky is turning blue. Soon it will be black.

OOC: Who's troops are your people attacking, both Kanami and I have forces on the move?
OOC: I'd be attacking yours, Being the 'outsiders' no?
IC:
Halas Grabbed his torch from the Windowframe and ran down the Great Staircase. He fumbled with the Handle, but the Door swung open. and there in the Dark stodd the Zowi Army, only 100 Men, Armed with Muskets, a Sword and a small Dagger, along with 6 Barrels of Gunpowder being pulled behind by another 36 men who were armed with swords. Halas stood with his father Tuwanaga at the Head of the Column, as the Army Marched through the thick Jungle. Thena now ran to the Door, she pulled it open and stood, wrapped in her sheets. She watched as the Torches Faded into the Distant Jungle, She closed her eyes and returned back to bed.
The Zowi were not on the Move for long. it was but one hour before they Reached the Black road. 3 Barrels and 50 men stormed across to the other Side of the Road. Camoflauged in the Bushes they waited for the Outsiders to March into the Vice, then the Gunpowder Fuses would be lit, and rolled into the road, when the smoke had cleared, the Zowi would fire 3 Shots before making the final war Charge.
"Halas, i hope these Outsiders aren't clever enough to detect us hiding here" Questions Tuwanga
"These outsiders may be clever, but they are no match for Halas Hebremas." Said Halas Firmly
"Do not be so sure of yourself Halas. I remember when i was a young boy like you, i went to war with my Father, he believed we could always win. We pressed on and on, until finally he thought we were invincible. There were 100warriors. Our supply lines were so very thin many of us had not eaten for days, and we were in unchartered terrirtory. and he led us to battle against 1000 men. And we lost Halas. We lost." Whispered Tuwanga
"But you did not have the element of surprise now did you?" Spoke Halas, as if he had taklen no Heed to what his Fathers words truely meant.

OOC: Ah i see well then i'd be attacking whomever is planning on moving across the island then
OOC: Kind of confused here. I'm ALLIED with the natives, and am only build a scattered group of towns with limited encroachment on the islands so far. Drexel is invading only because he wants to protect his base. Who are the natives afraid of then? Futhermore, what islands are the native players rping as being on; the one with the large native town and Drexel's base? Fantastic start at rping by the way Paster.
Do the natives even know that you are on their side? They would most likely be affraid of me and Drexel
Yes. I stated in the begining I had an alliance with the natives.
Well then, that takes care of that problem. The Island natives are mostly from the main Island where my ship is, where the compound is. The tiny village in the distance is where Serfina is from.
IC:
YuYu crept through the dense jungles. Armed with a musket, he was looking for any intruders to shoot down. "For Serfina. For us, our future."

The platoons crept through the jungle slowly. They knew their mission. They knew the consequences. They knew that they had to suceed, for their nation and for the cause.
They were on the move. They quickly swept through the jungle in almost a ghostly state of silence. Brenden O'Harel was leading the groups. He knew gurillea tactics like the back of his hand. Thoughts were racing through his mind. 'How many of them are there?' He wondered. 'How well are they armed? Why are they attacking the natives?'
The platoons reached their target area, a high ridge with jungle cover that overlooked the area where the hostiles had last been seen heading into. A dark winding foot path was off to their right.
Brenden signaled to his men, 'get down and find cover.' He then motioned for the leader of each individual platoon, Roy Keane and John O'Harn, to come over to him. Quietly he told them, "Keane, you and your men will stay here on this ridge. O'Harn, I want you and your men to go over and make sure that the path is clear, then leave a small squad there and report back. Make sure that the flanks are clear before checking road itself. Check for any signs of mines or bombs. I want this to go down with minimal casualties. Now move out."
I'm leaving this. Too busy...
