Takes up in 1990. The world is the same as today, but the USSR and China have become strong powers and allies. See this post (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=460269) for a basic cause for WW3.

Hitler Wins Stalingrad but the allies recapture France,Belgium,Netherlands, and most of Europe. (So it can incorporate more players). Or Germany becomes the single best country in Europe and Asia.

if you wanted to do something semi-modern try something similar to what Robert Harris did in his book 'Fatherland'

in the book D-Day failed and Britain under nuclear threat from Germany made peace with them.

The USSR and the Third Reich are still fighting on the eastern front but a large part of the soviet union is now 'living space'.

There is a EEC but its basically a puppet of the Reich.

Switzerland is the only neutral country in Europe but even they tread a fine line.

this is only a sugestion but it could be a starting point
