The Guyana Messenger

Cayenne, TODAY- Small parts of the Van Luxemburgian Navy and Military have took hold of the uninhabited island Kreuzbadinsel, off the coast of Van Luxemburgian Guyana Island. Kreuzbadinsel, about 90,000 square kilometers big, is scheduled to be inhabited by both Wingardian and Van Luxemburgian civilians, aswell as military units from both countries. Van Luxemburgian expeditionary forces made a landing by rubber boat on the island, just a few kilometres west of Van Luxemburgian Guyana Island. This was a huge step forward, the Grand Duke and the governor of VL Guyana commented. Van Luxemburgian citizens are scheduled to set foot on the island next week.

Kreuzbadinsel

Adjudant-Chef Riedmann looked at the large flat valley in front of him, littered with several patrols, checking the area. He stepped into his DAF truck, and drove off, picking up some remaining patrols. It was a cold winter morning, and the grass could get a bit icy. After some minutes, the vehicle arrived at the base camp, set up at the border between the beach and the grass. Several tents were set up next to eachother, while several Zodiac RIB's littered the beach, aswell as one LCU. This was the first start of the Van Luxemburgian colonies; The Wingardian were yet to come.

(OOC: This has all been talked over with Wingarde. Closed to other colonizers. This also doesn't belong to some RP'ing group or colony world. open for reactions from the outside.)

Task Force Garm, somewhere in the South Pacific...

"Your coffee, Herr Admiral."

A young ensign handed a white smoking mug with the Federal Navy's emblem on its side over to Admiral Fischer, who was standing by the rail, on a platform just outside the bridge.

"Thank you, ensign..." He took the mug from his subordinate while taking a quick glimpse at his name label on his uniform. "...Weber." The junior officer grinned briefly and saluted. He was about to turn back and walk inside when Fischer addressed him again.

"It's cold out here, isn't it?" The Admiral pointed out, his sight fixed on the crystal blue sea, its waves smashing strongly but helplessly against the steel hulls of the nearby escorts. The most prominent was the WFN Sigmund, a powerful Wernover-class heavy missile cruiser and one of the five of its class in this task force. The vessel was surfing through the rough waves, tilting up and down slightly.

"Well, nothing like the beaches in Hilmentz, sir!" The subordinate chuckled for a moment but suppressed that reaction, somewhat intimidated by the presence of the Admiral. However, Fischer chuckled as well at the ensign's comment.

"Very true. But this is the way it's supposed to be for a sailor, Weber: feeling the freezing breeze of the inclement ocean on your face. I find it quite refreshing to come out here once in a while." The captain of the WFN Stradsgart sighed and turned around after a few moments. He then motioned at Weber to get back inside and followed him.

"What's the situation, navigator?" Fischer queried as he saw a dim shape of land ahead, slightly shrouded in fog. The Stradsgart navigator checked his digital instruments and promptly replied.

"That's Cape Horn, Herr Admiral; nine kilometres ahead of us. We'll arrive at Kreuzbadinsel in approximately 10 days." The officer responded in detail as the task force prepared to enter the South Atlantic Ocean.

"Very well. Continue at cruise speed."

Kreuzbadinsel

It now was several days ago, that Van Luxemburgian troops had took the coasts of what was to be the province "Ostrhain". They now had pulled inland, and reached the somewhat larger province of "Westrhain". Meanwhile, Van Luxemburgian Citizens had landed on the shores of Ostrhain, with enough building materials to build a small city. As they immediately started building, a small village, called Ostrhainerswerf, arose on the place they landed. Some citizens pulled further towards Westrhain, and constructed several small villages, with small roads inbetween. As the Van Luxemburgian part of Kreuzbadinsel was to become one of the cleanest islands in the world, Asphalt was laid using LEAB technology. This means that the asphalt was laid at 100 degrees Celsius, instead of 180. Also, several systems led somewhat further underground, so the asphalt could be cooled, or heated. At that time, work was started at a fairly large project: The Kreuzbaderautobahn. This motorway, 4 lanes wide on each side, was also laid using LEAB, and was, as all Van Luxemburgian Autobahns, constructed with a non-existant speed-limit in mind.

Van Luxemburgian Soldiers meanwhile explored the province of Westrhain. They had advanced into a mountainrange, which were called the "Spitzeralpen", a small branch of the "Kreuzeralpen", in the middle of the island. Military Alpine units were quickly sent into the range, for exploration of the mountains.

From Wingarde News Wire:
Wingarde acquires overseas territories
General Section

The allied nation of the Grand Duchy of Van Luxemburg has offered our nation a share of the territories in the recently discovered island of Kreuzbadinsel, located near the Van Luxemburgian Guyana.

STROMBURG, WINGARDE.- Van Luxemburgian officials surprised the government of Wingarde when they proposed shared sovereignty of Kreuzbadinsel, a virgin island about the size of Austria (90,000 square kilometres). The Wingardian-controlled territories comprise the southern provinces of the island, denominated Hesseländer, Küstenfläche and Melcheldorf. The new lands present more living space for Wingarde to expand on, but the obvious problem is the distance between them and Wingarde Archipelago.

A Navy task force departed Wernover Naval Base two weeks ago, carrying the garrison for South Kreuzbadinsel, engineers and assorted specialists to explore and study the provinces. Once basic roads and villages have been established, civilian convoys will set sail towards the new territories and settle them. Ralph Horst, Minister of the Interior, expresses his excitement.

"This is an excellent opportunity to not only give our people more space to live and grow on, but to strengthen our bonds with the Van Luxemburgian citizens. I am certain this peaceful co-existence will bring both our great nations further together."
