Acre Restituta: End of Celtayoshi Occupation

West Cedarbrook
21-12-2005, 03:12
Radio Free Acre, 8:17 PM Acre Mean Time
Brodcast from West Cedarbrook Facilities

... The evenings light classical program, music from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by the Port Yehoshua Symphony is interrupted
by 15 seconds of dead air. The news announcer clears his throat, then blabbers hurriedly,

"Ladies and gentlemen, Acrese and friends, listen to our plea. Throughout the afternoon and all into this night
we have been relayed the most momentous news for the Nation of Acre since the dark days of Celtayoshi defilement 17 years
ago. With the collapse of the Celtayoshi Empire chaos reigns in the streets of our beloved motherland. The time of
our freedom is at hand!"

"Here is the first transmission from an operator today, from a location in South Acre City."

"Calling all Achrese, good men and true. Come to our help at once. Come and defend our nation.
The retreating Celtayoshi occupiers are murdering our people here. Come and help us.
Acre needs your help. Fighting has broken out at Bar Kochba University, and near Weinberg Stadium. Save our nation!"

The announcer returns to the air.

"Our sources tell us that there is mayhem throughout Acre City. Mt. Carmel seems to be mostly in the hands of the Patriotic
Front of Acre. The PFA commander at Mt. Carmel is the acting authority, and is awaiting the arrival of the Government
in Exile from West Cedarbrook."

Announcer - "This is a CBS Special News Report"
(screen dissolves into map of Acre, with burning building in foreground.

(Camera pans in to distinguised looking news anchor Steven Weissberg)

"Good Evening. Today the illegally occupied territory of Acre was released from the iron grip of
Celtayoshi by the unexpected collapse of the occupying empire. The long suffering Acrese nation
appears to be at the threshold of freedom, but tonight anarchy reigns in that troubled land. We go
live now to South Acre City, the scene of chaos as Acre appears to be in the birth throes of freedom".

(Cut to reporter Miriam Silverberg, in trench coat, ducking behind barricade)
"Steve, there's been sporadic fighting today throughout South Acre between straggling Celtayoshyi units
and Patriotic Front of Acre forces. The PFA, locally know as "mothballs" for their storage of the old
Acre Army uniforms have been patrolling South Acre, Mt. Carmel, Herziliya, and towns between those points"

(gunfire erupts from behind an overturned streetcar. It's met by two young men in blue and white armbands
returning fire. Silverberg hits the deck, then continues)

"It's been like this all day, Steve"
(A squad of five men race across the street and open fire behind the streetcar. Firing stops. One begraggled
Celtayoshi private, in full uniform raises his hands, and is marched off down the street)

"Steve, at this time nobody's in control in South Acre. The PFA is battling throughout the town, but
Celtayoshi military elements still control strong points throughout the city. We understand the PFA commander
in Mt. Carmel has offered his city as the provisional headquarters for the Government in Exile, but there has
been no word from that Government, now in West Cedarbrook, about resumption of authority".

Presidential Situation Room, Kramden House, Wrycova, West Cedarbrook
11:02 PM: President Steinberg looked wearily over the reports from the Defense Intellegence Organization,
then turned to Adm. Yehoshua Ben Zvi-Eliezer, Cheif of Staff

"Josh, what can we do in the next couple of days. The Acre Government in Exile appears ready to appear
as soon as a safe perimeter is established. What resources are available?"

Ben Zvi-Eliezer considered the question. "At this time we can provide some air cover for the embarcation
of the Government. But security on land will have to be in Acrese hands.", he replied

"What forces do they have? Are they loyal to the Government?", the President inquired.

"The fighting in cities is being done by the Patriotic Front, which is mostly loyal to the Government but
does include some fighters more allied with radical labor unions. They'll want a say in things too. Our
information in the hinterlands is sketchier, but a lot of what's going on there is run by the Acre Forces
of the Interior. AFI is more locally based. It appears to be with the government, but local leadership
varies in outlook and in fighting ability", the Admiral continued.

"How soon can air field facilities near Acre City be cleared?" asked Steinberg. "I want to transfer the Free Acre
squadron from the WCAF to the government, as soon as we can clear the books, patch their uniforms, and paint over
the roundels."
