Bureaucracia

It's time for baseball championships in Bureaucracia!
OOC: Yes, baseball is rather American, but so is basketball, and when I did basketball games here about 1.5 years ago, they were a phenomenal success.
Back in character:
I plan on having the first 16 nations interested in playing in the tournament be the participants, if they so desire to be. It's strictly a first-come-first-serve basis here: if you're the 17th nation interested, you'll be put first in line for the February 2006 baseball tournament when it comes around, unless a nation participating pulls out. In that case, you'll get the spot.
Each team will be seeded, in no particular order. There will be four rounds of play.
The first round involves eight teams on each side of the bracket (therefore adding up to a sum of 16 teams), comprising groups of four in which they will play each other.
The second round will involve four teams on each side. Four teams on each side will be eliminated in the first round.
The third round involves two teams on each side, playing each other for a spot in the NationStates Baseball World Finals, which is a best of seven playoff series. Two teams on each side will be eliminated in the second round.
The final and fourth round is the finals, which is a best of seven involving the two teams left over from all the other rounds that made it through all the other games. One team on each side will be eliminated in the third round, and of course one will be eliminated for the last time in the fourth round.
First place wins 300,000,000 Bureaucracian Yazoos for foreign aid and foreign aid only. One US dollar = 16 Bureaucracian Yazoos. You'll also win a gold trophy with your country's name emblazoned on it.
Second place wins 275,000,000 Bureaucracian Yazoos for foreign aid, and a silver trophy with your country's name on it.
Third place (for both sides of the tournament bracket) wins 250,000,000 Bureaucracian Yazoos for foreign aid, and a bronze trophy with your country's name on it.
All other countries participating receive 115,000,000 for foreign aid, a medal with your country's name and "PARTICIPANT" emblazoned on it, and three tickets for you and your two closest allies' heads of states to VIP seats at the February 2006 NationStates Baseball Tournament venues. That's right, all of them.
I will assign players randomly to each team. To make it fair for everybody, every team is assured a player with a rating of 100 out of 100; on the other hand, each team is assured a player with a rating below or at, but not above, 50 out of 100.
Tournament games start December 26th, 2005, United States central time, if 16 teams have signed up by that date. If not, games will start when 16 teams have signed up. If 15 teams signed up and a 16th isn't joining, I, Bureaucracia, will join the competition. But that's unlikely to happen, seeing how my basketball tournament last year went.
If you were late to sign up for my basketball tournament, you can redeem your promised priority seeding here. If you still exist as a country, that is.
I'l be making a bracket. In the meantime, let's start signing up!
I bid all participants good luck!
