Time had it that Kiev ruled over the lands of Rus and that the people were happy and prosperous under the rule of Yaroslav the Wise, time passed and the Princes of Kiev split into Factions each with their claim to the seat of power in Kiev, amongst the minor clans and bands were three major contendors, the first was Prince Yaroslav, named the Brave for his resiliance towards the southern Clan of Potlov the Fierce, a Pagan who claims his roots in Scandinavia, many scoff him as a mere power seeker, lastly and smallest is Prince Yuroslav, the Pious, it is he who wishes for Kiev to maintain it's strong Orthodox position and fight back the Catholic pigs.
Recent history has taken Yuroslav and the best part of half his army to defend the Religous home land of the Byzantine Empire, with him is the smallest quarter of the army of Yaroslav, Boyars included, this has left the land open for attack by the Pagan Prince who eyes the land like a fly eyes a dead animal.
The woodsmen which made a bulk of the army marched over the Slavutich River into the territory of the infamous Yaroslav, they marched for a small town which was closest to the River, they came to make a show of strength and to weaken the morale of Yaroslav.
As the army neared women rushed back into houses and men got out shodilly made swords and axes, realising the dooming size of the enemy army they quickly got out of the way as the murderous Pagans torched houses and raped women, the let the children go to warn others that Potlov was on the move, he wanted them to know.
