The lights dimmed in the auditorium as Admiral Winchester of the Einhauserian Navy’s 1st fleet took to the stage. Gripping the sides of the podium, he began.

“Greetings, citizens of the UFE and denizens of foreign powers. I am here today to announce that as of next year, 3606, and starting with my cherished 1st fleet, all eight Einhauserian armadas will be called in to the new and improved shipyards just now being finished in the Nimas Tenae system for extensive refits and renovations.”

Checking his notes, he continued. “All ships built before 35604 will be refitted with the new phased shielding system, matter/anti-matter annihilation engines, the HHS (Honeycomb Hanger System), and the Chain Drive FTL system. Also, every starship will be outfitted with satellite deployment systems for use in planetary strikes. Of course, specific starship models will have specific changes.”

“The Leviathan class Meganoughts will be refitted with the new, miniaturized Chain Drives, and the Firebat class Battlecruisers will be given a thirty-meter extension in length. Please note that all starships being offered by our sales department will not reflect the above changes.”

“Renovations are expected to complete in early 3611, although that time frame is malleable.” Looking out at the audience of reporters, he nodded quickly. “Thank you, and good night.”

{Before 3611? Wow, they've certainly got their work cut out for them.} Lirin, a young reporter at the press conference. {Short announcement though. Not much to make a story on. I wonder if another representative is going to get up there and tell us more?}

OOC: I really have no idea how long it's going to take. I have eight fleets, 2500 combat ships in total, and I figure I can do about... 7 Firebat's a year, 9 Mercury's a year, 1 Leviathan a year, and 3 Lords a year.

I guess, then, that a revised estimate on the time frame would be... 93 years for the Mercury's, 179 years for the Firebats, 9 years for the Leviathan's, and 139 years for all the Lords. In other words, the refits won't be done until some time in 2007... hm... that won't work.

Ok, new plan: 1 rl day= 42 ns years. Bit of a stretch, but an acceptable one, methinks. Add in another dock, and the deadline is now January 7th (3643) instead of December 23rd (3611).
