The first trucks of the convoy came rumbling up the road, surrounded by an armed ground escort and a handful of transports with troops. The convoy had taken an exhaustively-long route, so as not to be seen by large clusters of civillians, and now, after three days' travel, they were at their destination. In their canvas-covered cargo beds were carried numerous articles of research equipment, to be used in the Red Dawn Project. The actual scientists would be arriving by several smaller convoys within a month. By then, the newly-designated research station and military base would be far enough along in its construction to accomodate them.

The battlements had been erected, and outlying sentry towers were being set up. In addition, several prefabricated buildings were nearing the end of their construction, and guard towers were being erected at the five corners of the base. An airstrip was also under construction, but it was only in its beginning stages.

The sentry and guard towers had been erected, and the prefab buildings had been set up. The research team began entering the base via a series of strung-out convoys, bringing the final components that they would need with them on the journey. Ammunition and weapons were now being shipped out, along with a further garrison of troops to guard the new base.

The base was fully constructed, and the guarding division of troops and vehicles, along with a contingent of aircraft, were settled in. Now began work on designing and testing nuclear weapons, using existing knowledge of fission.
